today i found out that one of my photos won an Honorable Mention award at the Heart Of Illinois Fair. (w00t!)
i won, in total, a big green ribbon and

Five dollars.
i'm a little disappointed, but it was my first photography contest ever, so i think it's pretty good.
also, i've been wanting to get a new camera. after researching and looking, i still haven't found one. i'm thinking of saving up for a Canon Digital Rebel. if anyone would care to donate to my D-Rebel fund, i'd gladly take up your offer(s). i have about $700 in the bank, but not sure if i want to blow it on one thing. if anyone has any advice, i'd love you forever and i might bake you cookies.
(i am the bake master!)

i'll be leaving for Michigan for about two weeks on Thursday morning. there is the incredibly slight chance i might use our neighbor's computer, or one from a little cyber cafe in town. who knows.


oh. and monday should be AWESOME.

yesterday i spent a lot of time with my grandma and grandpa (my dad's parents)...they came to our house for a little while in the late morning/early afternoon for coffee, etc. after my cousin's basketball game. we were at their house for at least 5 hours last night and i've heard stories i've never heard before. grandpa buying an orange crush for a nickel, in a bottle, and a mr. goodbar candy bar for 10 cents. they talked of redridge..grandma was telling us how she remembered the bandstand that used to be across from the house, and how the salvation army band would play there sometimes. they talked of their health, how their 56th wedding anniversary is coming up, and us grandkids. how we're all so different. my grandma rubbed my feet for me, since they were practically frozen from the ride there in my dad's car that has no heat, and then from standing out in their garage while he (my dad) prepped it for winter storage. we had pizza and german chocolate cake. i stole a few oatmeal cookies, too next time i see them will be christmas eve, and i've been ready for that since the friday after thanksgiving.
