However, I've just gotten around to reading through the new TOS as prompted by a notice on one of my favorite photographer's pages. I had skimmed it before, sure, but I really didn't read into it. Normally legal things don't concern me too much. However... I'm wholly and completely ticked.

See, this favorite photographer of mine has left dA because of the TOS and I don't blame her in the slightest. It's COMPLETELY unfair to her and everyone else on this site. I hate the direction dA is headed, and has been headed. I could pretend for a while that things were the same, but they're just not. It used to be I regarded dA as a safehaven for us artists. Now it seems they're just trying to exploit us.

Give the dA TOS a look yourself and you'll see. I mean, really read it.

For those of you who don't, I'll give you the basics of why I'm so angry (and if you don't believe me, again, go read it!):

You have rights to your work. HOWEVER, so does dA. It can use your work in any possible way it wants with dA and all extensions of it, and it may alter your work however it wants. It needs no permission. It does need permission for a third party, however, it still has the rights and it's completely royalty-free. If they promote themselves with it and make millions, you don't get a single cent. It can also, here's the kicker, use your name/likeness/photographs/biographical info in conjunction with this. And you can't do a thing about it.

I have to laugh when anyone thinks any of my friends are goth. I nearly lost it when my history teacher mentioned Gothic arhitecture and added "By the way, it has nothing to do with people who wear all black. Are there even any of them anymore? HOMISPODHYPERVENTILATIONSTATION. I got my watches down to 252 deviations. You think that's not an accomplishment? It was a good bit over 400 before -_-. The hyperventilation is both that I made some progress, and that I still have 252 to go, aaaah... this wouldn't have happened if I hadn't decided to FALL OF THE FACE OF THE DA EARTH. At least it's lots of pretty arts...

My scanner's hooked back up now though ^_^. I'm sure if you watch me you've noticed me posting loooossa deviations. Sorry to flood ya but I've been waiting to post some of this stuff since, ohhh... ANYWAY... my scanner is being evil again so I don't know if I'll be able to scan stuff any time soon. Howeverrr, I finally got to spend some of my Micheals gift card (which I've had since Christmas -_-) today! I thought it was only $15 but it turned out to be $25 ater we were done, so I spent about $14 worth of it.

For this I got:

Sakura Cray-Pas Junior Artist Student Quality Pastels (25 ct.)

WOOT! ARTNESS! I know, I got cheap with the pastels but remember I thought I had only $15 to spend. Sooo D-chan winds up with student quality ._. ... ah well! It's better than what I previously had: nothing! And, truth be told, they're not bad at all. Baka D-chan *did* decide to test them out on a charcoal drawing though, thus screwing up her blending. The pastels are ok though.

Now I have a *real* nib pen~! Yay! I haven't quite gotten the hang of it, but I'm getting better. Reading up about it crow quills are supposed to have a fine clean line though variable enough and are used a lot in shoujo, which suits me fine :3. I particularly like drawing eyes with it. I just hope I don't kill my ink supply... who knows when I can get more? Ah well. *sigh* I really hate where DA seems to be going. The search limited to pay subscribers, the extra ad for non-subscribers, and now Jark's firing... it's just not good. I really can't take a side, though, until (if at all) I get more details, and right now it seems like we're not and will never get any. I am REALLY fed up with this. Without us users DA would be nowhere. Do we not deserve an explanation? No. We're going to be kept in the dark because the new company head sees us as dollar signs, not people.

Well, my birthday is coming up... August 7th. Yup, it's both mine and DA's. I WONDERED why they had a birthday bash on my birthday last year. I wasn't aware it was actually DA's birthday since I was gone for that time O_o.

Anyway... I know there's all this "support Jark, remember Yellow Day" going around, but I'd really just like to upload something celebrating my birthday, maybe DA's birthday too. No yelling, no taking sides, no condemnation, just a little break from all this mess that's been taking place lately. It's not that I don't support Jark- I do. It's not that I'm not upset- I am. We all NEED a little break. So, rather than only submitting yellow art, can't we just take a deep breath, upload something special or even something ordinary or maybe nothing at all, and go around commenting on art and saying hi and talking to eachother and expressing the FUNCTION of this COMMUNITY?

The community is what's TRULY important. It's good to band together for a cause, but can't that cause be art? I'm not saying not to upload yellow art and I'm not saying not to support Jark. TRII! I got STUFF! A Mokona plushie and vol. 1 of Galaxy Angel. I didn't know there was Galaxy Angel manga!! But apparently there is, and reading it, it's cooleh!

The word angel reminds me, some of my drawings are from a manga I'm thinking of doing that I'll call "Crystal Key" and it will involve the stories of 5 individuals called Key Angels (no, NOT having ANYTHING to do with Galaxy Angel... I don't think I knew it even existed when I came up with this idea so ) who use Key Staffs.

It will mostly center around Garnette (spelled differently but prounounced like garnet), aka Angel Garnette, who holds the Garnet Keystaff. There's also Angel Dia (Diamond Keystaff, and that's prounounced dee-uh), Angel Jada (Jade Keystaff, and her name is jaah-duh), and 2 more. I know the last will be male.

I might make the 3rd holder (the order is 1- Garnette, 2- Dia, 3- unknown, 4- Jada, and 5- unknown) Prini (either pree-nee or prihn-ee, I don't know which it would be yet) of the Peridot Keystaff, or perhaps Pia (or maybe Paz or Topana) of the Topaz Keystaff. And for the last... I was thinking of naming him Raphael MAYBE, but probably not, and I have no clue what I would use for the staff. Since I don't for some reason like scanning things when other people are around (I think it stems from my reluctance to let my family see my drawings) and school's in and I'm not home alone all day, that will probably mean less art. But anyway, I opened my eyes at one point and saw... how do I describe this... I don't know, just... something. It looked like a mass of black or really dark brown strings floating near one of my fan blads. It spread out and dissipated in a few seconds. I really don't think that it was my imagination... And if it were just my eyes playing a trick, if I moved them it would move too, and it didn't. It more or less stayed in one spot. And then it just completely dissappeared. I just don't know. It jolted me...

And messed up Charmy's coolie costume. Alice is probably my fave dancer so far. She reminds me of Misao (from Pretty Sammy) if she were a DDR-er ^^... Maho kinda looks like Konoha/Funky Connie from what I've seen although I haven't actually danced with her.

Anyway... I added another song, Night Mournfullness. People really seem to like my poetry... I'm glad. I really love all forms of art, but poetry... It's the one thing that I feel like I can always do. I get so frustrated with art projects not going the way I want... and writing stories poses its own challenges... But with poetry, I can sit down and let the words flow from my fingertips, and everything is okay. It always turns out the way I want it to... and I always love it so, my own expression, work of art, perfect in every way because it's the way that [b]I[/b] want it. Perfect because it's part of my soul left behind, evermore. And no matter what anyone says, I know it's of true beauty... However, that others appreciate it too brightens the day. To express and bring happiness to others... to inspire thought... it's a good feeling.
