Been a while since I updated my journal.... not sure if there is really much point either, it sucks but I hardly ever read other people's journal's these days, I'm usually not on the computer long enough... or at least not on DA long enough, feel bad because I haven't put any art up in 10 months, so it just makes me feel down being on here looking at all this awesome stuff and I'm hardly ever contributing to it :/

Anyway, since my last update I've done a bit of stuff.... art and life wise. I'm currently in the states, right now, on the free computer in the basement of a HI Hostel in Baltimore to be exact. Came here 2 days ago so that I could go to the Baltimore City Comic Con, was great, met a whole lot of great Artists and Writers, went to a bunch of panels; some of which I'm sorry to say I was falling asleep in, SORRY! I was really tired, wanted to listen to everything but I'm just so fatigued.

Today just before the 'Image United' panel started, I had a little conversation with Robert Kirkman at the front stage on the mic, was cool, we just talked about nothing, apparently his beard has never been itchy, which I am very jealous of. This little chat ended with me being told to stop by his booth, which I did, and was given a 1-in-100 limited edition variant cover version of his new comic series being drawn by *WyA and inked by Todd McFarlane, very cool.

Also purchased a few awesome pieces of art one by the great ~JasonHoward; which, when I get home and setup, will be scanning and doing my best at colouring. Speaking of pieces of art I bought, [link] is now mine.

Been in America since mid-June, playing Lifeguard at the Henry Kaufman Campgrounds in Pearl River, just outside New York. That was a lot of fun, met some great people and drew a whole bunch of pictures.... well.... not that many, but a few, many more to be done when I get home. After being a lifeguard, went to DeKalb, just outside Chicago and caught up with my sisters, during my stay there I packed up and went to Seattle for a week to attend the Penny Arcade Expo, which was awesome, had a chance to play Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Brutal Legend, Saboteur, Hack/Slash and a bunch of other neat games that haven't come out yet.

So, I'm only in America for 5 days, which is great, except that 3.5 of those days I'm on a bus headed for LA.... Really, REALLY should have chosen the Plane option. When I get back to NZ I'll be in Auckland for 9 days, during which I'll be attending Armageddon, so that'll be fun....

anyhow..... I guess this was just a quick update, I'll see about getting some art up in a few weeks, till then, enjoy

Merry Christmas people! Or something like that anyway... tis the season and I probably won't have another Journal entry this year.... maybe, and I thought I'd upload a few things from the travelling I did a few years back that I found lying around with all my other piles of stuff I need to organize and finish

I have been without a computer that would allow me to do any colouring for AGES now, I've been so procastinationally busy this last year that I haven't really had the time to sit down a dedicate myself with what really matters, putting pretty colours on awesome art.... or drawing stuff... I bought myself some nice big art boards back in October while I was at Armageddon up in Auckland, so maybe that'll be my new years resolution that I tried to make a few months back; to, every night after work, dedicate myself to an hour or two of creativity, be that drawing, colouring or writing or whatever, I'd really like it if I could do that

I've applied to go to Camp America next year, just bought a new scanner today so that I could 1: scan and upload the new pics in my gallery and too 2: Scan my Character reference sheets for their site, I couldn't get my hands on a friends one around here, and before last Thursday I had no money (except savings), so the last few weeks they've been expecting me to get them up there and I haven't had the equipment to get it done! Now I have and it is done! or.... it will be once I finish this journal I hope the experience will be fun, I'm really looking forward to it.... if I'm accepted that is

Anyway... today I went down to the Strand Office Supplies store to see if they had any markers, I'd like to try my hand at doing basic marker work then inking some pieces of art, it's interested me for a while now, and they are the only place in town that I think would sell them... unfortunately they were closed.... so I'll have to try tomorrow

I thikn that's enough of a rant from me for tonight..... I think I'll finish uploading these Character refs to Camp America and then sit down to a little...... Dead Space? Maybe... or perhaps some Mortal Kombat vs. The DC Universe.... OR Mirrors Edge, that's an awesome game.... yeh.... one of those I think,

Catch ya,

Luke Batt.

Spock%20tM

HAPPY WINTER-EEN-MAS! EVERYONE!

So today (Jan 25th) marks day 1 (or 7) of this amazing "New" Holiday that everyone should be celebrating! So for the next week, I'm going to do my damndest to play as many games as possible! Things to achieve:

- Start and hopefully clock 'Bioshock' for a second time, playing on the hardest difficulty and playing as an 'evil' guy, for you "lil' sister's" out there, you have been warned!
- Finish 'Mass Effect' for a second time, or get very close to it, I'm about 15hrs in at the moment, sitting at around 50-65 points as a renagade, it's so hard for me to play an evil guy. I want that evil ending. Also, if I do finish it, maybe I'll start up playing thru a 3rd time as a chick (haven't done this yet)
- Guitar Hero 2 and 3, just play it for fun, maybe finish one or both in co-op now that I have 2 guitars.
- More COD4.... or maybe not... I've put about 19hrs into the multiplayer, I'm Rank 38 halfway to 39 and I have the 'Mile High Club' achievement.... for COD4 singleplayer that is *sigh* so I think I can put it on the backburner for this week..... maybe just a few multiplayer sessions.
- Halo3 online. period. Awesomeness in a box, must play some more, maybe, MAYBE I'll finally buy those 3 new maps; I'm so stingy about downloadable content... but, 'tis the season be Gaming.
- Make sure every customer at work knows it's Winter-een-mas, especially those who are getting new consoles.

I think the Gaming Gods will be content with that list, I'd buy some more games, but there aren't really any I need I think I'm sitting on about 20 X360 games in my collection now.

Now, in other news; today I went and saw 2 new movies at the cinemas. First up was 'Sweeny Todd', and I had so much fun with that movie, loved it, I have not seen the broadway production, and was only REALLY introduced to it through the Kevin Smith film 'Jersey Girl', which I will say, I really enjoyed! in saying that, I'd love to see his original version before all the edits to make people 'feel' better about it. So 'Sweeny Todd' two thumbs Up for me, or maybe a .... hmmm..... rating of about 7.6/10 Also, the WAY Mrs Loovery (her name?) referred to Sweeny as "Mt T" all the time made me think of Harley Quinn, the Jokers 'girlfriend'/obsessed fangirl from The Batman Animated series (and then the Comics), made me chuckle every time.

The other film was 'Meet the Spartans'..... was kinda funny.... ish. although, despite the name, they didn't make fun of either of the Ben Stiller films. Definitely some really humorous parts, but for the most part, as is with most of these 'spoof' flicks, the majority of jokes were Boob and Gay jokes *shrug* kinda followed Frank Miller's '300' story events line to the tee, but they took the 'Step Up'/ Dancing routines a bit far I think personally, in saying that, alot of the retarded home-boys in the back rows who talked the entire film seemed to be having an amazing time with those, they also seemed to know who all the 'American Idol' people they were referring too aswell.... so *shrug*.... QUESTION: Do the shizzle ma nizzle people with their pants round their ankles pull up their pants when then sit down? cause I see that they don't usually take off their useless hats.

mmm, so yeh, 'Meet the Spartans', okay, don't expect the world, probably one of the funnier spoof movies in recent years, but that's not saying alot.

Last but not least, if you have no idea what Winter-een-mas is, check out the site Winter-een-mas.com [link] and read up on it. It's been happening for the last few years, and although it may have started out as a joke in a webcomic, I think it has alot of meaning to it; so go, now, read the site, then pick up a controller or keyboard with your friends, classmates, kids, parents or/and neighbours and start having fun, for the next 7 days (including today) from 25th to the 31st of Janurary lets all celebrate these amazing little things that bring so many people so much happiness!

Oh, and check out Ctrl+Alt+Del for the comics about this years adventures of Ethan, the King of this amazing Holiday. [link]

HAPPY WINTER-EEN-MAS!

Side Note.... um, Post Script: Check out Gametrailers.com, they have just uploaded a new documentary (no. 3) for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Freaking Amazing!<br...

Okay, so something that has been on the tips of everyones tounges (within the Comic Community) is the "poor" handelling of the One More Day storyline of the Amazing Spider-man comics over the last year. One of the main reasons everyone seems to be having an issue with it is the massive MASSIVE delays that it had in order to tell this (Peter's ) life changing story.

Now from my point of view, I see an amazing story, and really well thought out way to change up some continuity, create new and exciting stories for us, the fans, that had to go though alot of delays on each issue. Now, I don't know the exact reasons for the delays, but I don't mind them. In fact, I would FAR prefer them to having the changes be made 6-8 months ago, and then Continue to have all these stories that feature Spider-man as one of the primary characters, where we are dealing with the PRE- One More Day/ Brand New Day Spider-man being shown off, along side (on the comic book shelves) the now thrice monthly issues of the amalgamated stories of Spider-man (the three main Spidey books have been 'merged into one; Amazing).

So now, in the current situations, what we have is all the books that Spider-man could be in, on the same page.

Books that had Pre-OMD/BND
New Avengers - The Hood storyline - Completed, new story arc coming. This should now be able to have the Post-OMD/BND Spidey... that is if the changes have made him Not an avenger during/pre Civil War

Avengers: Initiative - Issue 7 and 8 have hints as to what the post-OMD/BND Spidey has done that are different to the Pre, so we are all good here

The Mighty Avengers - Finally all caught up to the New Avengers (just before the Hood arc) as of the last issue, so now if spidey's in it, it should be the post-OMD/BND

There may be a few other titles that he has been appearing in, but they too should all be caught up now, so from an editorial stand point, having the Delays makes sense, or perhaps some things happened (ergo The Mighty Avengers Art Delays) that caused things to trip a little and caused backup story arcs to occur (Symboite attacks/ The Hood arc in New Avengers) which also caused a little book called 'The Amazing Spider-Man' to be put on hold with it's 'One More Day' Story arc, because if it finished coming out before the other books, the 'Fans' would have been making even more of a stir! Everyone would be complaining about which spider-man it is, and the continuity freaks would be complaining because their time line would be messed up.

But NOW! we have everyone talking about it, which in turn has more people picking it up (and it was a good story, so well done Joey Q.) and everything is on the same starting line as of Janurary '08.

So bitch and moan all we want about the delays, but I think they were necessary in order to tell an overall Marvel Universe Story, which is what it's all about these days. Sure it sucks to be that one guy who ONLY collects Amazing Spidey, but damn them, they should be buying more comics, there are alot of good stories out there, and they need readers too

The Floating Heads Podcast Episode Direct Downloads

Tis' but an hour to go until '07 be done and we begin ringing in the New Calender

I have work in the morning, and I've done my greetings and wishings for the night for the most part. To those out there I have yet to communicate this, Happy New Year! (if only you all read this)

Sadly, I've run out of credit on my phone, which kinda sucks, cause I haven't topped it up in about one and a half years, I won $300 credit, and have been given between on several occasions between 20 and 50 dollars for it..... so I haven't had to put my own money towards it..... bah. lol.

ah well,

so, I began my New Years Resolution on my birthday. I've started a 12 week training program to try loose the keg I've grown.... damn those years of Computer Studies and lack of exercise! I want to get my body back, even better than it was when I was Senior Gymnastics Champ, and as of today week 3 has started. I'm taking photos to document it, I wanna see if it really works... and if it does.... I'll finally be free of my longer than shoulder length hair.... as I decided to grow it again in an attempt to get into shape, I hate having long hair, and have told myself that I can chop it off when I reach a certain fitness level.... not there just yet

Anyway, that's my New Years Resolution, Get ma Body Back, so Happy New Years to you all, and I hope that all your resol's work out for ya!

Cheers! *raises glass of Bailey's on the rocks to the screen and nods head* and Good Night Two Thousand and Seven!

The Floating Heads Podcast Episode Direct Downloads

Merry Christmas Everyone! It's about 2am, just got home from midnight mass a little while ago, it's about the only time of the year I actually go to church

It's strange, see, I always sit in/ near the middle of the front few rows of the church with my Family, most of whom are avid churchers. This year, my mum and dad weren't feeling the best, so they didn't go at the last minute... me, well, I had been up since 5.30am, worked an exhausting 10 hour day with only 1 break, ran round after work getting the last minute foods (milk, baileys, coke, etc) and then get ready for mass..... I wasn't going to not go, f-it I really didn't feel like going this year, I was so tired, but I had gotten ready, so I went, took one of my little sisters with me.
Now, as I was saying, middle of the front few rows most years, not this one, it was only me and my sister, so we sat near the front still (got there a little late) so the only seats left really were the ones next to the alter, so there we are, to the right hand side of the father.... huh... and we can see pretty well everyone in the place.... not ONE! of them had a smile of their face, every last one of them muttered the carols and hymes, while here me and my sister were, having a right of a time, singing away, enjoying ourselves, even started a few people clapping.
The father (priest), he was actually really pretty good, was funny, but I could tell right near the end, when the "choir" started singing, he was sitting in his chair next to the alter, looking down at everyone, a sad little look on his face, all because, once again, not one person looked like they wanted to be there, all half asleep, frowns, bored.... such a sombre experience..... really makes me dislike churchers, always so serious; what happened to the days when you would sing Sing SING to the PRAISE AND GLORY OF THE LORD?! HA! not anymore, it's more of a humbled, droned and uniformed thing to do now, that is go to church, just a quick "Give my piece of the week to the lord", whats the point if you don't truely wish to be there, bah!

BAH! Churchers, sack of sheep the lot of them!

So! It's Christmas Day! Should be fun, can't wait for everyone to see what I got them! Lunch with the rellies will be okay, but the yearly tradition of going to our mates place for the night's festivities is always a blast, drinking, singing, eating and having fun till Boxing Day, my Dad's B-day..... but I'll have to TRY and have an early night, got a 9-10hr day starting at some GOD AWFUL hour of 7.30am! WHAT THE! No-ones going to be up that early.... and if they are, they don't deserve me as a Sales Consultant, SHOCKING!

Anyway, one last time

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! (and if I don't chat back before hand) AND HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Floating Heads Podcast Episode Direct Downloads
The Rant

Hey guys, long time no message, been busy anyway, I still haven't gotten around to building the proper website for the Floating Heads Podcast, you should still be able to reach it at [link] or [link] but I'm not going to update either of those sites until the site is properly up and running, so to those who don't read my Journals..... sorry, you've missed out and won't see this apology, but I doubt many people will have just stumbled acoss the site, seens as I have yet to advertise our existence (other than to you fine artists)

So..... a few days ago I finished editing all these episodes, takes a while longer at times that I thought.... but.... know what.... I don't think I'll be doing much editing anymore... just add some intro and outro music, and MAYBE delete any major mess ups.... but other wise leave it as we recorded it.... really lazy.... but it should mean the episodes will be updated/loaded on a more regular basis

So.... only 3 weeks or so now until the Auckland Armageddon, I'm psycked, can't wait to see what they have going this year, there are some really decent professional Artists and Writers going this year and I can't wait to meet them, I think I'll see about going for all 3 days, I would love to goto the pre-drinks thing the night before, but I'm guessing tickets are pretty-well sold out by now and I'm still deciding on whether I want the all access pass.... I'm not sure it's really worth it??? hmmmm

anyway, I've taken the week prior to the event off, so I'll see if I can't whip up some art for the contest, maybe make some pieces and see what advice I can't get from some pros if they can spare the sec

What I'd really love to do would be to take a decent mic/recorder up and interview some people for the podcast, and have a whole special episode dedicated to the event.... I'll see if I can muster up enough cash to get something that should allow me to do that :/ *fingers crossed*

Anyway, Halo 3 is out, and WHOW! I love it, the campaign was awesome and I'm spending WAY too much time on the multiplayer, my XBL Tag is "Spock tM" if anyone wants a game sometime, kinda sucks that we ran out of stock at work on launch day (our 25/09/07, 24th for you americans ) before midday... and have yet to recieve any new ones!? I get alot of people each day asking for it, and can give nothing! feels bad, cause it's such a good game

ah well, I've also added a link to all the episodes...

Finally clocked HALO 2..... it's only been 3(ish?) years I got about 3/4 of the way thru AGES ago, when Halo 2 first came out, but then I lost the save and couldn't be bothered playing an fps on a console again... so I waited until the PC version, figured it'd look just as good if not better than the XBOX version, especially with my then reasonibly newly upgraded system playing HL2 in some of the best graphics I'd ever seen

Little did I know that Halo 2 PC would be made VISTA only, that my 1Gb a ram meant as much as 383Mb of RAM on a frackin' XP system, so the game not only ran like balls, but looked outdated and REALLY bad.... WAY WAY worse than say Oblivion, which ran brilliantly (not the best but still really good).... but not only looked and ran bad, it was really quite painful to play.... the lvls with the flood (or any with more than 5 creatures on the screen at once all shooting were like playing in a slideshow.... painful

Anyway, I still really enjoyed the game, got to the end, and it's a frackin' cliffhanger, HA! sucks to be the people who clocked it ages ago! I only have to agonize for a few days, then I get to open up the Legendary pack that waiting for me at work

I really really like my Xbox 360.... and I have clocked Bioshock (a fps, I'm going somewhere with this), but G-DAM it, I want to play my halo with a keyboard and mouse! an officially licenced one, I just find controllers too damn fidely, mouse is SO much nicer for aiming, bioshock played well enough, but still, I didn't really need to do precise aiming in it, Halo is all about the zooming in and conserving ammo... which is REALLY hard to do when you can't aim for shite..... ah well.... the multiplayer beta wasn't too bad.... maybe my aiming will pick up.... and after so soon playing thru Halo 2, the gfx are going to look AMAZING, really looking forward to it... gunna be fun

In other news. I finally got the prints that Ty Romsa (overlander) sent me for christmas over the last 2 years, cost a bit, but damn if those professional framers don't do it right
I may take photos for yas sometime.... if I can find a camera

time for sleep... work tomorrow, EARLY.....
I rang them up after a 17hr playing session and a lazy 9hr sleep of Bioshock in the middle of eating Bluebird Ready Salted chips that I got for free with a movie I hired yesterday (Disturbia.... VERY good), washing them down with a half drunk 2.2L bottle of Coke..... and these are after having a few leftover chicken legs and strawberries with dipping chocolate.....

Huh..... so I guess it has almost been a month since we last updated. Well.... I've (Luke) been back for 1 and a bit weeks now, and we missed last weeks recordings, so now we're back and with a whole new intro to boot..... still need to find an intro song that really suits us, but I'm happy to stick with the random songs provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network

Please note aswell that Episode 8 was actually recorded a few days prior to Episode 7, but took a bit longer to be released as the "Five Little Speckled Frogs" Song took a bit to find, it wasn't the one used at our friends daughters and her grand mothers funeral, however, I feel it still has the meaning behind it, this was Ramond's daughters favourite song that his partner used to always play for her, she'll be sorely missed.

Hope you guys enjoy, episode 10 should be up on Friday

Spock-tM

Jul 24, 2007, 10:04am

So yeh.... I'm going to Australia for a few weeks, going to a mates wedding back in my old home of Rockhampton.... but along the way I plan on spending a week in Brisbane/The Gold Coast

So I'm going to hopefully be taking plenty of photos of my Champagne Breakfast Hot Air Balloon ride over Ipswich/Brisbane, and of all the stuff I see along the way including being at Movie World, Sea World and Wet n' Wild, 3 of the main theme parks on the Gold Coast

Not to mention the fact that I get to go on another Train; I like taking the train, and this one is like an 8? hr Train ride, I really enjoy it, get alot of writing done on them

Anyway, I'm leaving for Auckland in about an hour, and I get on the plane tomorrow, so if I don't find an internet connection, catch yas in 2 or so weeks

Jul 26, 2007, 11:54pm

Didn't get to go on the hot air balloon, they had a bunch of people cancel on them, so it became 'unsafe', so I didn't get too go :/

So today I walked around brisbane, caught the river boat thing for a few hours and checked out the museum, art gallery and a bunch of other neat places..... someone made art out of giant balloons...... I mean seriously HUGE ones, and lots of them, all over the place.... covering entire walls several stories high.... then airbrushed them with the spray device you use to paint ya car..... wierdos

Still haven't found ANY comics shops either.... truely shocking, a real pain

Tomorrow, my mission is to try and find the Botanical Gardens and China Town..... and see if I can see anything else note worthy

bugga, 2min left on net time, caio

Jul 27, 2007, 10:56pm

I FOUND A COMIC SHOP!! 2 actually, and the second one defied all comic book geek logic!? It was all alone, up 3 flights of stairs!? They must do shocking business, what sterio-typical geek would be caught climbing 3 flights of stairs to buy comics?! Could you imagine the Simpson's Comic Shop Geek doing that? lol

I walked around Brisbane for like 8 hours today.... forgot suncream too :/ ah well, but it's big and all.... but hmmm, had lunch at the coolest Cinese Restaurant I've ever eaten in too..... waited on hand and foot, was awesome

Jul 28, 2007, 11:41am

The one that I purchased a bunch of comics from, the first one I went too, was called "The Daily Planet", they have a website (which I haven't checked out yet) [link]

it was a REALLY cool comic shop, I mean really neat, TONS of comics, both old (I mean REALLY old) and new, tons of tpb's, it was hidden away down an alley way, you'll see in the photos eventually, and the store itself didn't look the greatest, kinda old looking, nothing fancy, but most of the posters were up too date, and I was able to pick up the majority of comics that I was after that I'd normally get, so that was awesome, and the clerk was talkative, so bonus there

The other shop, Aces or Something..... sucked. Felt like a library, kinda, didn't like it, didn't impress me, I was able to pick up a few comics tpbs that the other store was currently out of, but other than that, the guys behind the desk literally were the Simpson's Comic Shop guy split in two.....

So I'm headed off for Australia again! Only this time I'm only going for about 2 weeks, and I get on the plane TOMORROW! *JOY*

Which means that I have to catch a bus today :/ 6 hours on a frackin bus to get to a place that SHOULD only take 2.5 hrs by car..... bah, ah well, alls well, I have music and books and pencils, I'll be great.

Now why am I going to Aussie again other than the obvious reason of, 'cause I can'. Well my friends, it's really because I am going for one of my mates weddings, so I'm leaving a little over a week early for it, spending a week in Brisbane/ Gold Coast, doing a champagne breakfast hot air balloon ride over Ipswitch/ Brisbane, going to Draculas (Some kinda restaurant that everyone tells me to see), trying out Movieworld, Sea World and Wet n' Wild, a few other places round there, then catching a train to Rockhampton for the wedding.

This time, I think I'd like to check out Yeppoon/ Emu Park, which I didn't do last time. WHY? Because my nana and pop lived there, and I wanna see what it's like now'a'days

Anyway, I think that's about all from me, I have 2 weeks, and I'm staying at losts of hostels, so lets see if I can do some Drawings.... Therefore

TO THE UNIVERSE

Thanks for that amazing trip to Australia, I met tons of awesome people and had an absolute blast the entire time. The Wedding was perfect. I am a money magnet and totally Invincible!

Thanks.

And catch ya'll all next time.... oh yeh.... an dI have a podcast too.... which I don't know if I'll be updating while I'm gone, It's called 'The Floating Heads Podcast', and the website is

www. floatingheads. co. nz

I think that it's just redirecting to an old website of mine at the moment, when I come back I'll see about making it a real site (as it's STILL only the temporary one, keep running outta time to make it properly). Already have a bunch of shows up, we try and do two a week, but the last 2 weeks have been difficult to do, all us hosts have been busy with other things, which sucks, so hopefully we'll find a proper schedule soon, but we have been trying to do 2 a week. The first is recorded on either Thursday night or Sunday Noon by Myself and Brent McKay (rizzeld.deviantart.com), that's our Web/Comics Show where we talk about some of our favourite Web Comics, especially the ones updated that week, any Comic Book news we feel like sharing, and finally do a review of a Web Comic neither of us has read before which was chosen the week previous... then choose a new one. The Second show (actually the one that started it) is recorded on either Sunday/Mon or Tuesday Night (schedules/work suck) and it is hosted by Myself, Ora Monika and Mike Sunich, this is our General Topics show, where we talk about some of the latest in Gaming, TV and Movies, News and reviews, also includes a few hardware segments now and then

If you have suggestion/questions or queries about the show, you can send an email with the Subject header, "Question for the Floating Heads", too:

luke@floatingheads.co.nz

okay.... I think that's about all, not sure if I'ma have internet while overseas, so prolly see ya'll when I get back

Just got back from watching that latest incarnation of the Harry Potter Series in movie form, gotta say, I really liked it

Had alot of fun, YES they missed out ALOT of crucial parts, so for those who haven't read the books some things may not feel as fleshed out, but as I have always maintained, the movies of these books are more like highlights of the most important and some of our favourite scenes made especially for those who know the books inside and out; The Da Vinci Code is another prime example of this style, while not the best way to do it, it makes us happy enough to see these characters on the screen getting the POINT of the movie across.

I'm not going to go into details on what was missed and what wasn't, because quite frankly, just about all the scenes, plot points and characters/ developments that we not included were needed for the MOVIE story, as most are just used for fleshing out this amazingly detailed universe that the people of the books get to enjoy, and to be brutally honest, the majority of movie goers would never a: Understand; b: Care about; c: Find interesting enough, and for condensing the amount of content in that/those books into such a small time frame, I feel they did a tremendous job Although..... it's a little dis-concerning that as these books get darker and darker more and more children (9 and below) and coming to see them; especially the 8pm+ screening, I know it sucks if they 'loved' the first few movies, but not all stories that start out happy end well, and they should just leave them till the get a bit older.

The Acting was really quite good, vastly improved over the previous ones, still a little rough in parts, but definitely more than tolerable. The Special Effects make the grave yard scene in 'The Golden Goblet" look like child's play, and make me yearn for the next 2 movies even more..... The girl who played Luna was absolutely AMAZING, I can't get over how well done her performance was, she really stole every scene she was in, in a good way Doloras Umbridge's actor was frighteningly happy and was a welcome addition as far as great actors go; a little more character development and a few extra plot points from the books would have helped ALOT for a few of the characters, but meh, they weren't all that necessary to tell the basic story of the major overall one that is Harry vs. [i]He who must not be named[/i], as it has been in all the books/films.

All in all, if I had to grade it:

Acting: 8.7 (good, but still glitchy)
Story: 7.8 (harder to judge as I've read the books and had those notes/ memories there to fill in blanks)
Special Effects: 9 (where were the ghosts?)
Settings: 9 (amazing recreation of the school, even more so than the previous ones)
Cinematography: 8 (some really wonky fast moving and blurry inbetween scenes, but the action shots were reasonably easy to follow with great action shown and the flying through London looked AMAZING)

Overall: 8.5

I really had alot of fun, and can't wait for the 7th movie to finally be released so I can buy the collected director's cut and special edition's boxed set

PS: The trailer for "The Golden Compass" looked awesome! if you have yet to read the "His Dark Materials" Trilogy, go now! down to your local book store/ library and get them! 1: The Golden Compass (or "Northern Lights" in some countries) 2: The Subtle Knife and 3: The Amber Spyglass, all written by Philip Pullman (I believe?) such an amazing series, I don't even want to try and explain what they are about, just go read them, the first movie looks to be coming out this December, can't wait

Gah! Just saw the movie a second time, and in retrospect, yeh, I can't STAND the blurry/shaky-cam and the singular-point circular blurry panning, can't focus on anything.

Why do all the shots have to be so in your face? too many of the shots are trying to be in a kind of, 'if you were in this street, this is what you would see'... and in many of the shots I was apparently standing behind buildings/rubble as an explosion/action shot happens on the other side, which I can hear and see the fireball of, but have to use my imagination as to what created it, haha. Oh gotta love the Megatron vs. Optimus FINAL Fight, which we didn't get to watch? WHY? was this not supposed to be one of the ultimate fights of the film? instead we get Starscream blurring between human fighters in some don't get me wrong awesome scenes...

*sigh* ah well, was still a fun film, still enjoyed all the Sam and Mikaela scenes, they were great; too much behind the scenes government bs; WHY is it that only ONE hacker is able to crack it?! action still awesome but hard to follow..... know what.... I played the Transformers game today, and seriously, BEST intro movie EVER! I loved having a bit more background story for understanding the movie, I loved running around and transforming and fighting, I will play and finish this game JUST for the cut scenes, as they are what I really wanted in shot direction (from what I've seen so far that is)

Well..... what can I say about this movie....

First off, I would like to have down that I did enjoy it, it was a VERY fun and action packed movie from scene 1 it had me giddy in anticipation of what they were going to throw at us next.

Now..... here is where I guess I should say

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SPOILER ALERT! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

WTF? This was not a story about giant robots.... it was about a kid who gets a car that happens to be an Sentient Mechanical Being that has no voice box and the events that happen around the kid from the humans point of view.
Everything in this movie that involved the Transformers seemed larger than life, which IS cool, but when giant robots are fighting, I'd personally (and I'm sure alot of you are with me on this) love to actually see more than an undefinable portion of the upper body as it moves/ twists a pot shot at the enemies undefinable body part. I mean seriously, the action was confusing as hell. There were maybe one or two awesome shots of an Autobot smacking a Decepticon upside the head, or vice-versa, but you can't tell me that we were meant to enjoy that fast moving hand-held cam corder cinematography enjoyable!?

Now, where was the character development of the Transformers? Sure we got some smarky remarks from the Autobots, but most of the movie was dedicated to a bunch of newly added Human characters that were somehow meant to show us the Military and Political side of things, this I could have done a LITTLE less of. I mean, don't get me wrong, I did enjoy that stuff, but I didn't need as much of it.

Most of the stuff with Sam was cool, but I would have enjoyed it alot more had there been more Transformer interaction, we got a few lines of dialog that was cool, but that's it; and the Optimus vs. Megatron fight? WHERE WAS THAT!? I saw some dust and rocks flying around, a few bystanders being flung but no robot vs. robot adrenaline pumping action, they fell, Optimus collapsed and s pesky human takes down the only guy who could rival Skeletor for Ultimate Baddass on the fanboy universe!? BAGARRR!?

So.... Review?

Sound: 8.9/10

Absolutely amazing, everything was awesome, but I would have liked the Decepticons using their English a bit better instead of that made up Transformize, which I thought was a cool touch, but could have easily had them using and then "Transform" it into something we didn't have to read. The transform sound fx were spot on, I loved the way they handled it, and the electronic frequency of the transformers voices was a neat effect, although it did make them a bit harder to understand at times.

Music: 7/10

Was good, I liked it, was very noticable, but enhanced the scenes where needed. Not as catchy as the original Transformers movie.... but seriously, what else ever has? (FLASH! AH AHHHHH!.... He'll save every one of us!)

Acting: 8/10

The main roles of Sam and Mikaela played by Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox respectively, perfect in their execution, from the awkwardness of Sam as a teenage male turned action hero to the strong independent but secretly emotionally-lonely teenage girl unveiling her car mechanics and backwards driving mastery! The voice acting was very good, but I still wish there had been more, but I was a little disappointed in the comical secret organization fellas, secretary general and most of the supporting cast in that arc of the story. Soldiers played like good soldiers do, congrats on being hard-ass Marines, you did your jobs well (yes sarcasm, but I mean it in a good way).

Special Effects: 9.3/10

REALLLY frackin' good..... but damn'd if I knew what was going on 3/4 of the time, I mean DAMN!? those mechinical bits and do-dads looked stunning, but it was like watching magnesium chips moving around by a kid playing with a magnet!? I award you highest distinctions for making something that in the cartoons/comics were covered in plates and just looked cool, to de-constructing it and putting it them together in a way that supposedly makes them more plausable?!

I'm sorry what? Did I just hear them say they wanted to spend a quarter bazillion dollars doing something completely unnecessary just to stamp their artistic style on them, thus ensuring the artists/modelers/3d animators and most of Weta's super-duper computers all die of a heart attack when they try to top it and actually have more than 5 robots on the screen at one time? (all moving of course)

Good job on making them look awesome, but why go to all that trouble? you could have done it much better, cheaper and given us some real Transformers action instead of speeds...

Huh, so it's been a while since I updated...... acutally the last time I updated would have been when I left on the fool hardy adventure I've set for myself I guess that's a 'little' over a month ago now... time for a bit of an update I guess

No pictures am I too be uploading today, no scanner, and all my works are in my pad, although I have my tablet with me, I rarely use it.... I have done a few coloured pictures, but nothing worth uploading for your viewing pleasure, as I'm sure that these fill-ins would more assurely destroy whatever slended visions you have had of the day prior to seeing them.... what have I been up too? Well, if you have been checking out my website 'Journals of a Travelling Artist' ([link]) you would have NO idea, as I have failed in my task to update it when possible..... this is mainly due to time restraints, I do a reasonible amount of writing in my journal, but it takes time that I usually (stress usually) don't have to type it up, as I'm doing other such things.... like playing pool, or.... umm..... walking...... lots of walking.... bit of sightseeing too, can't be helped, but I'm starting to run out of money, so I'm heading to Airlie beach (no money = visit expensive tourist attraction beach???), and I'll see what I can do about getting a job or selling some sketches or something either way, if it doesn't pan out, I have a 6 month railway pass that allows me to traverse the train systems and get on/off at any town/city between Cairns and Brisbane, so worst comes to worst I'll be heading to my old town of Rockhampton a little earlier than I had anticipated.

So, what have I been up too? the first few days are on the website, since then thou, I have been a Rain Forest Research Assisstant, done WOFFA (Work Onsite? for Food/Accommadation) at a Rain Forest/ Coastal/ Beach Resort, seen movies, been on buses, been to an island, spent copious amounts of money and getting next to nothing in return, been ice skating, see sharks and other fish, drawn people by pool sides and a number of other things..... which you can all read about onceI FINALLY update the website as soon as I catch up on some of the journal enteries..... I took notes.... just didn't get around to writing them also have a few landscape and building sketches to do, I was able to borrow a friends camera for a little while and took pictures of a few things while I have been in the Townsville/ Twin City area, so I'll have to do some sketches from those aswell...... and for the record, sketching from photos isn't cheating unless you didn't take the picture.... which I did, so I'm happy with my decision.... plus, you have any idea how HARD it is to sketch people walking around? very hard? they are all moving and not staying still and then all of a sudden they aren't there.... very irritating... I really have to work on just using the people I see as references and not draw them, but draw people who are perhaps wearing the same clothes as them..... or something

Anyway, I'm going to be working on a comic idea I have while I'm out here, getting a few sequential pages drawn/coloured up and sending them along with a synopysis to image comics too see if I don't get a response from them I know they get hundreds of submissions, but hey! I'm travelling, not like I have the time to draw it right away, and if I don't get it sent off, then I'll never get a response will I

Anyway, I have to start finding and packing my things, I leave for Prosterpine (or something?) in a few hours, and I'm leaving this house in about an hour, so I really need to get moving, but I thought that seens as I will be without the internet for a while again, I'd let any people who happen to stumble across my little DA page know what I'm doing..... also.... seens as I missed it and didn't get to do anything cool for it like alot of people do on here, THANKS FOR 2k page views, can't wait, and hopefully I'll have updated with a picture before 3k

Till next time,

Well, this is it people, I'm literally (used in right context I believe) writing my last Journal before I leave New Zealand. I'm kinda getting misty eyed about saying goodbye from my family for now. It's been great up until now, I haven't really felt nervous or scared, but now that it's time to actually leave it is kinda hard to keep any feelings about knowingly leaving my family for an extended period of time; but I'm these tears (haven't cried or anything close to it for years) aren't tears of sadness or fear, I'm really happy, and I know I can leave.

Anyway, the website ([link]) will be updated soon with some new pictures that I have done over the last few days and I guess my first REAL journal entry as a Travelling Artist, I can't wait, I'm smiling now and can't wait
My ride is yelling at me to hurry up now, so, I'm about to start the 3 hour drive to the Auckland Airport to get on the plane. I guess that's it for now, next time I say anything on here it will be from Australia

Hey, well, it has been quite a while since my last entry here, unfortunately I'm not gracing you with some new art... sort of.

I have been working pretty hard getting ready for this trip of mine, I finished up with my job early May and gave myself a bit of a holiday for a few weeks, now I'm back in gear and ready to start my trip.

From what you may have read by me in previous journal entries, I'm going to be hitchhiking around NZ, north island and south island; change of plans thou, due to the extreme weather conditions and power outages that are plaguing NZ at the moment, I've decided to start along the Queensland coast (that's in Australia for those who don't know), I'll be going from Cairns to Brisbane and as many places in between as I can. This is a reasonable time I the year, as Australia has more people and larger cities, so I'm going to treat this excursion as a bit of a Tutorial for the NZ trip, where there will be less people and harsher conditions (mountain ranges, rain, hail, snow, fewer people to buy art, etc).

'So you've decided this, now what? going to take you another 6 months to get it together and go, what a slacker!' - No. My ticket is booked, bags are packed (actually being repacked atm, final lot of washing in machine right now) and I'm leaving for Aussie on Tuesday (20/06/06), yep, like the title of this entry is called, T-minus 3 days and counting

'I thought you were going to make a web site to do some sort of journal and art thing? Where's that?' - Well, I have that done, there are still a few little bugs with Internet Explorer, but I'll sort those out when I have the time, either before I leave on while I'm on the road. The address for this new site of mine is:

Journals of a Travelling Artist - [link]

Allrighty then... so I've been tagged by Lewis-Paul, I've seen this thing going round DA, well, here it goes I guess

"The player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours.... bla bla bli bla bla bla... got it?"

Weird things... hmm, w~ei~rd thi~ngs......

1. I have an extra Unknown Organ, about mid-left side
2. I can wiggle my eyes
3. I can put my thumb behind my index finger's knuckle on both hands
4. A few years ago I was bored, and felt like collecting something, I used to collect X-men and Basketball cards when I lived in Australia, but seens as you can't really get those anymore (other than like the vs system), at least not over here in NZ, or with ease, I decided to collect DC and Marvel HeroClix...... I now own over $1500 worth of these things, I have quite a selection of characters, quite a number of uniques, I even bought the City of Heroes and City of Villians Collectors' eds just to get the CoH/CoV HeroClix figures (actually just traded the CoH one with JeezyKreezy, he really wanted Deathstroke and I wanted Statesman ).... now I have only played the game about 4 or 5 times and they are currently all residing in a couple of boxes in storage
5. My inner monalogue talks ALL DAY! I can't get it too shut up and it is the primary reason for why I spout out so much random shit all in a vain attempt to explain my side of things.... see, SEE! I didn't need to type all that, the simple explaination would have surficed, but NoooOOOoo, I have to explain it all..... shutting up now
6. I just quit my job even though I have no money to hitchhike around NZ drawing stuff..... in winter

okay, that'll do, and the next 6 people are

As of today, I am no longer a Taurangian.... err, I no longer live in Tauranga, the mojority of my belongings resides within a multitude of bags and boxes stacked up in my car (which I will unload tomorrow morning) at my Parents place, from which over the course of the next 2 weeks I will be completing the final preparations of my Travels.

At at the end of said date, I shall be embarking, starting, taking my first steps on personal unknown roads, too see how far I am able to last in an strange environment and attempt to endure the harsh conditions of this alien world some people call Outside.

I know, I know, some of you think I'm crazy, that I've lost my marbles, well I'm here today to tell you that I have BEEN to the corner store! I have purchased BRAND NEW Marbles, shiny ones, without scuff marks or chips from years of concrete, stone or impact abuse, and I know that in one fortnight from this night I shall be laying beneath the stars freezing my shiny white butt cheaks off, gazing up at the stars beneath a layer of highway smog and falling asleep to the gentle hum and bright glow of passing cars. Heaven is but 14 sleeps and half a life-time of work away.

Things left to do:
* <strike>Buy Indiana Jones style hat if possible - I really want this, a decent leather (preferably) hat to aid in my fragile non-sun resistant skin being burn free</strike>
* Buy a decent sleeping bag and <strike>tent</strike> - The sleeping bag I have now is a good 8 years old, designed for summer wear and has an old planket sewn inside it; an attempt to ensure I didn't freeze some school camps ago, <strike>and I am going to need a light, reasonably weather resistant tent to sleep in.... also like for it to be non-reflective so that should any police or farm owners drive past they don't think to wake me up and tell me to be moving on in their own little way, I like my legs and I'd prefer to keep what little money I have in my pockets, not the governments.</strike>
* Design/ Create Website and Website Art - My 'Journals of a Travelling Artist in New Zealand' site has yet to be created, so I'm going to have to get a moving on making the art and building the site to which I will be updating when possible while on the road, I would love to make it in php, but alas, I have yet to REALLY use it enough, and although I could probably sit down over the course of a few days and learn what I need to do it... I probably won't... go figure. Also need to register an address... can't think of what to use, so I'll have to work on that too
* <strike>Go pick up the rest of my stuff - Still have one of my beds, my computer and computer desk and a few other things to pick up from my old place.... should probably clean it too.... maybe </strike>
* Beg for money - I think I'm going to have to spend a few days doing some free sketchings on the streets of Whakatane, just to get the hang of things, and find the right style for the charactures(sp?) I'll be doing on the road..... depending on how I fare, I may start charging people for them.... I like money, and I have none, good way to start a journy I think
* Sell the rest of my stuff - As I said I have a few things left to pick up, <strike>I have a bed and a bookshelf I have yet to retire from my ownership, going to have to find something to do with those aswell</strike>

Hmmm... well, this chair is getting uncomfortable, so I think I'll leave it there for tonight, I hope everyone has been enjoying my take on the colourings of the pictures I have been updating with recently, if not.... please, tell me what's wrong, I really do value any and all input, I think I'll also work on a few more pics before I leave aswell, just because I like doing them

Anyway, till next time; Good Luck, Have Fun

Today. Today is my day off work, tomorrow is suppost to be aswell, but I'm working from noon till 7, it's customer day and should hopefully be able to get a bunch of decent sales, try and make a bit more money for myself.

Speaking of work, I handed in my resignation yesterday, and May 7th will be my final day working at Noel Leeming Group, which means I have a month to box all my stuff, fix my car (battery died), sell as much of my stuff as I can, do some drawings, make my Website, find out when cruise ships will be coming into which ports and any special events that are going to be going on around NZ, get a listing of all hostels and cheap accomadations arund the country (or as many as I can), work out a travel plan to help guide me, move all my unsold stuff to Whakatane, and get rid of my car (I'm sorry)....... all while working full time at Noels.

shit.

I would really love to go down to Armageddon in Wellington, but as it stands I don't know if I'm going to be able to do that. As I just said, my car is without battery at the moment, and I'm hitchhiking into work every day; which means I'm up 4 hrs before work so I can chop wood, light the wet-back to heat the water so I can get ready, then leave two hrs before my shift starts to make sure I'm there on time. Quite Tiring. Now I'd love to goto Armageddon, but with my schedule I'm not too sure that I would be able to do it, Idealy I would love to see about selling stuff down there, but I don't know, I haven't really done anything that I could sell down there, I mean I could probably whip up something between now and then, but I don't have anywhere too sell it, so meh. There are a few really good reasons to go down, one would be to meet some of the Deviant Artists that I have been chatting too since the last one, and the other would be to meet a few of the Professional artists aswell as the Red vs. Blue team, that last one being a really big deciding factor as too if I'm going to hitch down there or not

Ah well, if I don't go, I'll just have to try and make sure I'm in or near Auckland for the next one, heh

Till next time,

Okay, so I'm only at the start of my saving period for my trip, and such is life, things keep poping up that require I spend my hard earned money. Hopefully I have enough food stocked up in the house now that I shouldn't have to have take-outs for at LEAST a week.... when I get paid next and now, with the knowledge that Armageddon is in Wellington at the end of April, I think I'm going to have to goto that aswell

Where does my time go

Not sure how long I'll be able to go down there for, probably only a day, I'd like to go down for the entire period, maybe just stay at a hostel (god that movie looks bad), but I have work..... hmmm, by the time it comes round, I should have a few thousand dollars saved up..... yeh, hopefully I should be able to to put a few hundred into this excursion, share the ride with a few mates of mine to save on petrol a bit.

Idealy, I would LOVE to go down with my own artwork and have a stall, but I have not enough pieces for that, and it does seem kind of pointless at the moment, maybe at the end of the year I I may have enough to warrant such a thing.

I keep wanting to get an Xbox 360.... I work around them all day, we even have one setup in shop with Project Gotham Racing 3 on it, quite a cool game, and I'm not a fan of racing sims, but I think I'll hold off until the end of the year, not only would I save my money and NOT waste over a thousand dollars on everything I would want to get for it, but I can also purchase money titles, primarily, Fight Night 3, my god that game is going to rock so hard, I can't wait!.... well, I guess I'm gunna have too

Some people that have really made me want to keep at it at a few of my mates, several of whom are on DA themselves, and a couple of inspirational people on DA that I have come to really admire, thanks alot Brent, Jono, Norton, Ty, Lewis-Paul, and everyone else who has commented on my works this past year, your all great.

Next up are my plans for the rest of the year, and goals that I'm going to be working towards.

As soon as I have enough money saved up, and at the rate I'm saving, should only be about 3 months, give or take a few pay slips from work, I'm going to be packing up, selling off just about everything I own and leaving on a trip. I'm going to be hitchhiking around New Zealand, visiting as many of the towns and special places as I can, Drawing the landscapes, special features, architecture and people I see along the way, while updating when possible an online journal following my day by day journey from the tip of the North Island, down to the foot of the South Island, should be fun

The Reason I'm doing this is that I have been wanting to travel around New Zealand for a while now, but haven't really had the motivation or reason too so I made one, thought this might also be a great way to learn to love drawing backgrounds, and hopefully gain an understanding on how to make them as much a character on a page as the characters themselves in a story. I'm wanting to enter the comic book industry, backgounds are one of the fundamental aspects of that industry, and I figure this would be a great way to take some time to look closer at the world around me.

Also while I'm on this little trek, I have a few stories that I want to write, one that I have had in my head for a long long time now, but have been too pre-occupied to really finish (procrastination at its' worst) and another one that started as a little competition between me and a few mates of mine, but is now a story that I really want to write and tell, so I'll be working on those when I can now, but focusing on them once I leave.

As far as my colouring goes, I'm currently working on 6 pieces, all 6 coming from the 'Aspen Comics MLT Inc' colourist talent search.... or whatever they have called it, either way, I have 3 pages from 3 different 'Fathom' comics and 3 consecutive pages from one of the 'Cannon Hawke' comics, so I'll be working on those, and as I finish them and send them in, I'll post them here for your peoples' thoughts on my attempts at them

Also, that latest Invincible cover I coloured..... something still really bugs me about it, I may have to redo the shading for it.... but that can wait till after the 'comp' pages.

Til next time,

Wow... I'm not sure what brought it on, but today, I was sitting at my compuer, about to play a little Battlefield 2, and I thought I might do a quick search for 'Northern Lights', a book written by Philip Pullman, and the first in a trilogy,, did this just too see what other people thought of that series, didn't really find anything. So I did another search, just quickly, on 'His Dark Materials', the name of the Trilogy, and a few things came up.... so I checked one of the sites that seemed slightly more up-to-date.

Turns out, that not only does the series have sucessor, but that book, set about 2yrs after the end of the third book in the series 'The Amber Spyglass', but there is also soon too be another book out soon, 'The Book of Dust'. Totally blown away by this. Then I find out that the trilogy is FINALLY being made into a movie, and it's due 2007!

Personally, I would rate this series just about, if not better than most Teen Series in terms of not only a good read, but it feels aimed at a slightly older audience starting with the first book, and has a great amount of depth too it. If you haven't read it and are a fan of Alternate Universe/ Angels and Daemons/ Fantasy Sci-Fi (not space or high tech) then this is an absolutely amazing trilogy to get, almost tempted to do a little fan art..... but not tonight

Got a few things in the works. Working on a 50-60 page comic, mainly for myself and a mini competition between a few mates of mine, so plenty of script writing, sketching and colouring experience, also I promised another mate, whose on DA ([link]), that I would do a sketch of Grace from 'Soulfire' of 'Aspen MLT' for his b-day (which was last saturday, also Thanks for the Signed Turner comic man, means alot, also was my first b-day gift Thanks!), aswell as a few other drawings that I've promised a few girls at work, so I'll be posting a few pieces in the coming weeks, hopefully, depending on if I get a scanner anytime soon luckily I have a Wacom stylus, so I can sketch my stuff then just free-hand draw it on the pc, albeit a bit harder/ time consuming, it works.

Anyway, Once again, major thanks go out to Ty Romsa, also know on DA as Overlander ([link]) for the kudoes and gifts being sent out, when or if they ever arrive, it doesn't matter, the mention and thought was awesome enough, really did make for one of the best b-day/xmas/new yr gifts ever, Thanks man

For everyone else out there, if I don't get back to say anything before it, Merry Christmas and have a Great New Year!

So, I made it back from armageddon nz in one piece. That was such an amazing experience, so much fun, really makes me want to goto another one some day... or head over to one of the many American ones like the San Deigo Comic Con, if only.

Well, where to start. The Aspen booth was great, I think I spent a huge amount of time, mainly of the Sunday (my first, their second day), just standing around watching Micheal Turner draw, such an amazing thing to watch a real artist at work. Frank Mastromauro was great and answered any questions that I or anyone who came along wished to ask. They brought along these folders, all a3 sized pieces of the card that MT draws each page of their comics on, there were like 7 of these folders, all full, and looking at the original art for so many of the comics that I own and seeing that many of them are still in the pencil form and finding out how they make their comics was just awesome. I got as many signatures as I could, especailly for my mates who weren't able to make it, MT and Frank were more than happy to sign anything you stuck in front of them, and for that I was kicking myself in the first 10minutes of being at the expo, as I realized that I had forgotten to bring ANY of my comics/ hard covers or posters to get signed..... so I ended up spending $120 of 2 original, signed sketches by Turner, with both of their signatures of them, and the two Armageddon NZ limited edition Soulfire and Fathom comics that they had there, both signed. God I wish I had more money, I would have given away my extra organ to get one (maybe 2?) of the a3 sized MT Sketches. One of the guys from the 'Heroes for Hire' booth (which was just over from the Aspen and Gotham Comics booth) spent $500 on 2 of them, and seriously, they were absolutely amazing. The first one was of this character E.v.e. from a really cool series(name of the series leaves me, but it may be named after the character?), she was in a Demi Moore from the cover of Striptease pose, one all metal and armor with her cool mechanical wings, awesome pic. The second one was of Sara Pezzini from Witchblade in a pose similar to the lingerie' image that MT did a few years ago, well it was basically Sarah lying sideways on a room full of cushins, wearing a small amount of the witchblade, turned out great. The Aspen Panel was a load of fun, got a few questions in, found out a bit about Jim Lee and the industry, was really good.

Caught up with a few other New Zealand artists, they were all pretty cool, got this one guy, David Ogilvie ([link]) to draw a pic of batman for me, turned out great, sitting next to him was the writer/ artist of Angels 2200 ([link]), a NZ web comic, actually, one of the only NZ Web Comics out there, so that was pretty cool. Spent a decent amount of time hanging out around there, chatting to those guys and girls for a while.

The Stargate Panel and Weta/King Kong Panels were pretty cool, surprising how many people have actually downloaded the series, also rather amusing how the actors themselves download them aswell. Got to ask Rainbow and Cliff a few questions, and it was a really good time listening to what they had to say, especially how they were trying to not let on anything about the plot of the series or what was going to happen or when they, well, she (the character Wier) would run out of batteries, luckily apparently they're getting another ship in the third season, so I'm sure she'll never be spare a couple.

Mark Waid's panel was fun, lots of interesting and fun rants, really cool listening to people within the Comic industry talk about it, and about the things that are affected by the comic industry, like the mass amounts of Comics-to-film and television shows that are happening lately. I can't wait for a time when Comics and Cartoons (Animated Shows/ Movies) aren't counted as things that are only for children, I think that Justice League Unlimited is a step in the right direction, alot of the context/ jokes/ stories and alot deeper than a 'childs' show would have, it really feels that they are starting to get decent writers in on these things, and attempting to aim it at a target audience of 15+ and people who know anything about the comics that these shows/ movies are being made about.

The Matrix: The Path of Neo, a new game that has just been made/ finished by Atari that should be released within the next few days/ weeks, is AWESOME!
Seriously people. For those of you who stood in line to be the first to get a hold of Enter the Matrix, and found much of it to be a more poorer experience than they expected, will be happy to know that this IS the game that people have been craving. It is such a fun game, getting to play thru all three movies, as neo, with extra scenes, added filmed content, new endings, and different ways to pass parts of the movie....

Okay.... so, um.... it's been a while *cough cough* 3 months? *cough cough* since I updated anything, and today I have 3 new items....... TWO pictures and a journal, I say 2 pics because one of them is just a save with a few layers taken off *shrug* still, I think it looks quite cool.

Ummmmmm, I'm jittery as a bumblebee at the moment, I think I really need some sleep, unfortunately, in the happyness that was drawing, I have forgotten to shut my eyes for the eventful slumber upon my bed.... and now I have a 3+ hour drive ahead of me, for I am off to Armageddon NZ, the Pop Culture Expo for NZ.

This year will be the first time I have ever been to one of these events, and the largest reason for my deciding to goto this one is the incentive that my favourite artist, Micheal Turner, is going to be there. I have also decided to enter the Drawing Competition, I may not have a show in hell, and the art I'm entering only took me a few hours, but I'd still like to see how I far in it, there are some amazing artists in New Zealand, and I would have to say I am a long way off being one of the best, but all in fun, and thats what it comes down to at the end of the day. HEY, at least I got a few neat, new, original images completed.

Life, life life life life, I'm still working at Noel Leemings, and I have recently aquired a Project Management job, boss gave me the Sony Erricon P910i (a $1000 NZ phone... at the time) and is paying the plan for me, all I have to do is....... well, so far..... talk to people and make sure jobs get down and that the people who are doing the jobs have all the equipement they need, pay isn't bad either..... when I work that is :/ I think that I have only done about 15hours since I started at the end of July.... meh.... still have the phone, and if they want me to work, they have my number

Ah well, it's nearing 2.30am, so I had better climb my way back down the vision tunnel that my head has created, WOW do I feel far away from the keyboard, Ohhohohhh *shakes head* must now get ready, pack back and leave for Auckland, I have a long drive ahead of me, need energy drinks, lots of energy drinks... mmmmmmm V is so good and it's back in the long-neck bottles too

*cough* hak* *pounds chest* *COUGH*

I think I'm sick.

Maybe not 100% sick, but more sick than I have been in a long while. I'm about to goto sleep, and for SOME god awful reason, I can't stop thinking. Thinking about nothing, and somtimes a few more things.

I couldn't tell if today was a total waste of time and money, I didn't exactly accomplish anything amazing, I spent more money than I have on nothing in particular.... unless u call Food and a new Supply of TP because of the darn cat.... which, by the way, no-one in this flat owns (howzat work?), and now, my throat is killing me, my nose is blocked to heavens high and my eyes are screaming, 'PLEASE GOD CLOSE ME NOW'..... sleep deprived(sp?)? maybe, maybe not, I did get a good 6 and a half hrs sleep today, and then the phone started ringing, and ringing, and ringing, and ringing, and... oh you get the picture. Anywho, it wasn't for me, so thats of little concequence, but I did manage to.... no, I.... nope.... can't think of anything major that was truly done today that could possibly benefit me.... perhaps this journal entry, but technically, it's today, and I really talking about yesterday, as to say past 37min ago (there abouts as I'm typing), so No. No. No, I did nothing that I can be proud of, hot damn, if that doesn't get annoying.

It WAS my day off I guess.... but still, I kind of wanted to get a few more drawings done over the holidays (Semester break, only like 2 weeks, but still), but honest to god, I have only done that one sketch, and by goly if it doesn't kind of annoy me. The image itself isn't really that bad..... technically..... but it doesn't really sit right with me. Like an Advocado in a Fruit Salad, to me, it just doesn't belong. I want to draw it again..... not again, redraw it differently.... but finding the motivation to begin sux, everything around me causes a distraction to the things I really want to do. I mean, I do want to gain knowledge in both computer, business and art, but to do so requires me to sit down and devote time to 'learning', and for me.... for some reason.... hurts. *whisper* I think I hear the cat? *whisper* Ah, fuck it, I know I'm not going to get it, damn flee infested feline.... now don't get me wrong, I love cats... more so kittens, kittens ROCK! (more so than puppies, BOOooOO Puppies) they are just so lovable and cute..... but that thing outside isn't mine, and, by golly, I shouldn't have to clean up after something that I don't get to play with (sounded better in my head). Now as for the studies and art, I get sidetracked so easily, if I don't have to think about it, I'll do it, anything to not have to think, I love to but hate thinking. So I waste my time, and dream the dreams that have me flying around or lately, running around, because I think having 'Kid Flash's' powers (the new kid flash/ impulse.... pick up the new issues of Teen Titans) would be best of all, because you could get anywhere REALLY fast, everything you read you memorize, and anything you do is super quick, but feels like hours for you (again, better in my head), leaving much more time to do other things..... but you would probably get bored.... *shrug* small price to pay to run on water.

BAH! sleep now, blog later

*COUGH!*

Have you ever had one of those days?

You make no sales at work, but mysteriously have done surprisingly well for the week so far, considering today was your first day since Sunday, You run out of food, but that okay, because you have Peanut m&m's, Half a bottle of chocolate milk and a 1.5L bottle of Coke minus a swig, And, JuuuuuuuuuuuST maybe, one of the neighbourhood cats, that despite your best marksman skills with your 6yr old BB Gun, somehow managed to get into your flat and treat it likes it owns the place, then, when you discover that it's there at 3.15am, sitting on the previous flatmates old bed, that has been against the wall for the last year, next to the brand new poster of Supergirl drawn by Mickeal Turner, to then have the cat slowly walk up to you, stare at you with it's beady little glowing eyes, then bolt into the bathroom knocking the VERY last roll of Toilet Paper no less into the Toilet, as it attemtps to scamper out the bathroom window, which you could have SWORN you shut earlier that night.

Well? Have you?

I've been wondering a bit lately about how people's inner monologues.... or is it monalogue, hold on a sec, time for dictionary.com.

<<<<<<<<<<<< a sec >>>>>>>>>>>>

Nope, right the first time, did you know that:

mon·o·logue also mon·o·log Audio pronunciation of "monologue" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mn-lôg, -lg)
n.

1.
a. A dramatic soliloquy.
b. A literary composition in the form of a soliloquy.
2. A continuous series of jokes or comic stories delivered by one comedian.
3. A long speech made by one person, often monopolizing a conversation.

monologue

n
1. speech you make to yourself [syn: soliloquy]
2. a long utterance by one person (especially one that prevents others from participating in the conversation)
3. a (usually long) dramatic speech by a single actor

Me neither. I lie, but I'm sure it makes you feel better some days. Now the funny thing is that I actually think like this, like what I say and do and all that crazy crazy stuff, all happens in my head..... err... usually as it's happening, or just prior to, like all this stuff I'm typing, I'm saying it in my head and writing it, these are literally my thoughts as I'm thinking them.... I even sound out the words, really s..l..o..w down the talking in my brain so that I make sure I get it right, and when I don't get it right, I actually try to back track my thoughts saying things like, 'no no, that's not what I meant, I meant this, or did I?', then I get back on track and start talking to myself about whatever it was I was talking about.

I like to sing songs. I sing songs in my head all the time, sometimes it just the same verse, over and over and over and over..... usually because that's all I know, but sometimes it's because I really like that part of the song, or maybe I sort of have that verse on loop or something, not really sure. hmmmm.

Ever wonder what happens when you die?

I never really think about this. Not that I know of, or remember, or admit to myself at least. I hope it's not bad. I mean, sure leaving this 'life' has got to suck, but you know... maybe it's just the beginning of another life, and we just pick up the ores and keep rowing, but on a new river? or something, sounded right in my head and as I was typing it... I guess.
I wonder if the people who have left us can see what we are doing, if they have enough time to come back and check up on their loved ones, I would like to think they do, but if they don't, too me that means that they must be having a great time, or are just so busy doing what,...... wait, I hear the cat outside...... payback time

Crafty little bugger, next time, next time.

I'm so broke, really wish I had more time, and now I'm going to have even less, I'm starting back at polytech next week, and I'm doing 5 papers, and I'm still working at Noel Leemings (a retail store place, selling TV's, Computers, Whiteware, Phones, those sorts of things), and they're pressuring me to sell so much crap, and make sure I get at least 40% of my sales to buy our 5yr Warranties, or CCI Insurance, or, get this, we now offer Setup and Installation/ Helpline/ Maintainance for Computers, and we are charging like 3x what the most expensive Computer companies in town charge, and they want us to sell that!? Man, I feel bad enough selling people Warranties for crap that is going to be out of date and worth less than a bottle of rum in 3 months without having to try and pressure them into getting our shitty service that we don't even do.... I wish I knew what I could do to be happy. I want to draw, but I'm always so tir...

I'm still learning to draw, I learn something new everytime I put pen to paper.

I have been drawing ever since I was a kid, when I was in Preschool I used to draw the Superfriends in painting class, they had big round capes on their shoulders, I didn't understand up capes did that back then, now I think back, the images I saw that I was drawing them from in my mind were of the characters falling, or jumping from a height, so their capes were flowing over their heads.... still, didn't understand then, so now My Preschool Teacher actually gave me a book with a little message, something like, "Have fun in Grade 1 and keep up the great drawings", so I did. Gee, thanks Mrs Zarnlighter

When I was in Grade 7 I was drawing Sonic the Hedgehog, Garfield and The Simpsons, and I did this one piece, was huge, was of this Pub in Australia that has a Truck on it's Roof, really cool picture, wsa really proud of that, my mum almost killed me because she just wanted it finished, an dall I wanted to do was keep adding things too it, was so much fun.

While I was studying at tech, first year out of high school, all I would do would be doodle things all over the place, whenever I went back home my dad always asked, 'what are you doing? why don't you try actually learning how to draw and do it instead of just messing around?' didn't really think anything of it then, but it did kinda get me thinking drawing could be more fun if I knew how to do it better

I didn't really start drawing/ learning a style I like, until about 3 years ago, my mate wanted to do a web comic, I had just found out about them, my mate was a really good artist already, and so we started thinking up ideas and what not.... long story short, we didn't get around writing the story, or drawing any pictures (was a cool story that we had thought up thou), but it did get me drawing alot. Bought my first real sketch pad and some pencils, went down the the local Comic store, picked up a few comics, read them, got the influence to draw, and got going.

At first my pictures really sucked, they were sort of a mix of Crap and Anime/ Manga styles, then the more comics and manga I read the more my art was influenced, and the better it became. At the moment I'm trying to create my own style, I've been told it looks similar to American Style Comics, but with alot more curves... anyway, still learning, hopefully I'll get to a place that I am comfortable with soon, as I really do enjoy drawing, just finding the time to do it is hard.

If I could, I would do nothing all day but draw, draw, draw Some day soon, I'd like to do a 24 hour comic. Think up, design and create a comic from scratch, time starts when pen first hits paper, maybe even do it with a group of people so we can make a better, longer and more in-depth story with more pages, woul dbe fun, and I can do it soon, last exam tomorrow, no more tech for almost 4 weeks

Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello.

I just updated. About 15 times

A big sorry to all those watching me I'm sure you just love getting 15 messages virtually at once Oh wait, make that 16 messages with this Journal entry

Alot of the art I updated with today were sketches I did last year (or near the end of). There were a few more I could have updated with, but I don't really like them that much or they aren't really deviations, like I have a picture I did of a chair. I like that chair. But it's not really a deviation style image

All of the images that were just added were only scanned, resized and uploaded, except the 'scrap1' image in my scraps, that was two images, but there were only 2 sketches worth uploading in them, so I put them together.

Some of the images I might get around to colouring or touching up one day, but for the moment I'd rather draw new things, but if anyone wishes to ink/ colour the images, please send me a link (and link me on the dev), cause I'd really like to see them coloured, I just don't really have the time or effort to do them at the moment

I'll probably get around to doing some more new stuff some day soon, I really like drawing with my pencil, but I don't really have much room at home at the moment, and drawing with the Stylus is just so convienient and quick, ah well. One day.

Til then, thanks for viewing, catch ya round,

Wow, 3 days in, and I have 60 page visits. I feel special. A big thanks to everyone who has/is/and will visit my little slice of 'something art'.

Just finished my first attempt at a picture with no line art showing, I think it turned out pretty well, took about an hour and 20minutes, and I think I will touch it up tomorrow sometime when I'm not falling asleep at the keyboard. Really shoudl start drawing durin the day instead of at night when I'm tired and lazy (note the jaggered lines of light in my latest.... and just about all my images, as most ARE done between the hours of 11pm and 3am).

I'm kind of surprised at how many people have found their way here in only a few days. Quite pleased with that acutally. And if it continues I'm sure my art will improve aswell, especially if 1 in 10 leve a decent crit

Anyway, I think I'll fall off my chair into my comfy comfy beeeeeeeeeed, mmm, I can feel the sleep now, small pain behind eyes, lids drooping, head waving, I am becconed, I come,

night all,

Hey all.... uh.... well, anyone who seems to have stumpled onto my little page, I'm new here.... so I guess introductions are in order. I'm Batt, Luke Batt. Better know as Spock, occasionally as Psi.

I'm a 21 year old artist in training, and by training, I mean I draw when I can, for fun. At the moment I am currently Studying a Bachelor in Computing Systems course at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in New Zealand.

Today, a mate of mine, Jonothan Burch (JeezyKreezy on DA), convinced me to create an account on here and upload the stuff I have done. So... in an attempt to NOT start my 100 page assignment that is due in negative 6hrs 20min, I decide to do just that.... with as many of them with decent comments accompanying them for your reading and understanding pleasure.

I have been coming to DA for a while, but.... for some reason I didn't thik I really drew enough to warrent putting my art on the net.... but I can see how it makes sense... I really like getting my stuff critiqued, because it is all a learning curve. I'm trying to get better at drawing, so this is a great step towards that goal.

I hope you enjoy some of the works I put up, I think I have a few more at home (I'm at tech at the moment ) and I look forward to any comment you make now or in the future.
