Ok so about two weeks ago, I find out I am going to have this homework assignment that both, frightens me and excites me at the same time. The assignment is to make a full body self portrait of myself that is representable more than realistic. Ok cool. I've taken a typography class many years ago, and I've gone to graphic design classes. It's going to be fun. Then my teacher goes, Oh. It's going to be as large as you are in real life.

*blink... blink blink.* And all I can think is. "Ok then."

Now, those few of you who know me in real life, know how tall I am. I can look over the heads of most crowds. I'm 6'2" and I can stick out like a sore thumb in some crowds. I'm tall even for playing woman's basketball, witch because I was so sick of being hounded in middle school by the coaches, I quit playing, and it was something I enjoyed playing. OH! And silly me. when I'm laying on the floor and the other students are measuring out the paper next to me, I asked for more. MORE I TELL YOU!. So now I'm staring at a roll of thick paper that is about 3 feet wide, maybe more (But I'm telling myself it's 3 feet for my own sanity.)and when I roll it out, it's going to be over 6'8" long. Aside from the larger sheep of paper that it came from, that was the entire roll, this is the biggest piece of paper that I have ever seen.

Again, I'm very excited, and slightly intimidated by this piece of paper. The only way that I think I'm going to be able to work on this project at home, is by taping the humongous page to a wall, and hoping that my inks don't bleed too far through it.

For those of you who haven't read the top of the journal for some reason, like it says. I have a desk. For all the years that I have been on DA here, I have been working on my art work without the aid of a desk. Normally I accomplish my work sitting on the floor with one of those artist boards in my lap. Even back when I did acrylic and water color paintings. Something I'm hoping to start up again.

I haven't had a desk because of my lack of space. If I had a place to put a desk, it would be in the way, so, when I was at the second hand store the other day, and I found a heavy duty folding desk that I could fold down and shove behind my dresser, I jumped on it. There was only one problem. I didn't have a car to carry it home for me. So I called up Ayesac, and we took turns carrying it on foot for the 8 or so blocks it took to get it home.

Did I mention that thing was heavy? Or at least the desk felt like it gained weight by the time we got it home. It was money that I really didn't expect to spend, but it's something that I've needed for a long time.

Warning. This journal entry will make you hungry.

It's funny. What I think about most this time of year is what I can either make a head in a slow cooker, or what fits in the oven for a few hours. I've wanted to make a large batch of this hot coco recipe I have, that lasts us all winter long. It's a home made powdered mix using powdered milk and things like that. The other big thing that I want to buy is a gimungus bag of pinto beans. Gahh! This weather makes me want to set up camp fires in the back yard and have a pot of chili that has been cooking all day, set out with friends seated in lawn chairs and on the grass.

There's so much crap that I want to make right now, it's ridiculous. Like chicken soup, stew, mashed potatoes, pumpkin apple muffins, oatmeal cookies, and sweat potato fries. I quieted one of my cooking urges last night with stuffed green peppers. I'd never made them before and much of what I'd done with them, recipe wise, was off of the top of my head. It took 3 hours to cook right in the pot, and probably could have gone another hour if I really wanted to peppers cooked through, but it was still wonderful tasting.

There are only a few bad things about cooking. 1: when the cats want to help, and 2: having to do so many dishes.

I absolutely love spending time at the county fair. It's not because I go watch shows, or go on the rides. It's because I have friends who show animals there, and for just one week, I'm able to spend time with people I used to be able to be very close to, but now only seem to be able to visit with them, once or twice a year.

I spent the past week helping out with a multitude of animals, including but not limited to bearded dragons, chinchillas, guinea pigs, dogs, and horses or all sizes. I grew up showing animals at the county fair, and because of that I'm still recognized by people I don't even remember. Yes there are things that become frustrating from other individuals, but when I dig past the nasty politics, that I know are killing my fair, there are things are good that happen as well.

I was given the chance to show, Bell, My friends spotted Draft horse, Friday. Of course I took the opportunity right away and when I was getting her ready outside the show ring when a group of individuals approach us. They were from a group home and consisted of three care givers, and three people in wheel chairs with different ranges of disabilities. They asked if they could touch Bell, and I was going to say no.

I've been showing horses since I was 12 years old, at the county fair. People always ask if they can pet your horse, and to be honest, after 13 years, giving permission, or not giving permission becomes routine. With the last horse that I showed in 4H, Abe, I would always say yes, as long as he was out of the stall, but with Bell, I really didn't know what to expect until she told me with her body language.

Her ears perked forward, and her head lowered so her eyes were level with the closest young man in the wheel chair. She didn't disobey me by taking a step forward, but she was leaning, just waiting for permission, so I said yes.

I'm never going to forget the first of the group, to pet her. He couldn't of been older than I am but his arms had trouble stretching out, so that his hands could reach more than 8 inches away from his body. I expected Bell just to look at him. maybe sniff his chair. Of course this isn't what happened, and the horse nearly gave me a heart attack when stepped closer to him to put her nose nearly in his lap. I was frozen, She wasn't doing what I had trained her to do, witch was to stand away from a person's personal space, yet the smile the man got on his face when she stepped so close stopped me from correcting her and pushing her back.

Bell was holding perfectly still, with her nose just above this man's lap. He was having trouble working his arms to touch her, and she was just standing there waiting. Suddenly it hit me. Bell knew she had to stand this close to the man in the wheel chair to let him pet her. I can't explain how she knew this, or why she wanted to do this, but for over a minute, she stood with her nose nearly in his lap, waiting for his hands to work for him. When his fingers finally started to brush against Bell's nose, his face lit up into the biggest grin I've ever seen.

Bell spent a minute or two letting that man pet her, then with no cue from me, moved on to the second, then the third. The process repeating as if Bell had been letting people in wheelchairs pet her for her entire life.

This summer has to of been the oddest summer of my life. It's been so odd that I never even made my normal "My how the time has flown, it's my birthday" journal that I normally make in June. Now I'm saying "My how the time has gone by, my birthday was over a month ago." journal.

It's true. I'm now 25 years old and have been officially 25 years old since June 23 but at the same time, I don't feel like I should be that old. Maybe it's because this year, there have been a lot of changes in my life. Specifically in the last 3 months. Things that I know are never going to be the same again. Both the bad, and the good. The best way for me to describe this time of my life is to say, I've discovered who I'm friends with still. Who I love and will always love no matter what, and who know I will always be able to count on. As well as how much I need to count on myself. What I am capable of accomplishing.

As a result of the changes going on for me, my computer time and time here on DA will be much more far and few in between, but maybe that, in it's self, is a good change too.

I’m in desperate need of a new pair of sandals that I actually like. Maybe I’m just that picky about sandals.

This also means it’s about time to start planning our garden, if we’re going to have a garden this year. We’re going to try again this year, and I think we might try our hands at hot peppers. Among a few other things. What ever we can afford.

I’m also working on improving my illustration portfolio. I’m starting to play with illustrating old stories. Just trying to get better there. Also I got a pet portrait commission to work on, and I need to put that portfolio together.

So there is the SP News. I'm slipping back into my art work finally. after I don't know how long it was that I would just sit and stare at a blank page. I'm actually getting back into my creature design things, and finished filling a sketch book this past week. Good thing too since you people were probably tired of seeing Sara, My WereCat, all of the time.I'm currently looking at an eastern style, air dragon design sketch that might make it at least into my scraps, on here. I'm also still working on drawing children, and people. Though most of my drawings are just quick scribbles to get the general movement and shape.

I've been wondering if I opened commissions up, if anyone would commission me, as well. If so, please leave a comment here, and I'll see what I can do.

I look at what I draw, and while I see positive areas, I see all the fault in my work as well. I haven’t drawn anything that I’ve been completely happy with in ages. The same goes for my writing. No I don’t post a lot of my writing on DA, but you get the idea.

I’m trying to draw, and I’m trying to write, outside f chat rooms and fan boards, but I find it harder to get things started, than I used to. There are days I spend staring at blank pages. Maybe it’s just me. I’m not trying to have a pity party because I honestly hate those, and I know this is sounding like one. I just miss my art. I want it back.

On other note, on those days I spend staring at blank pages, I’ve started trying to study human body structure. After my life drawing classes I’ve taken an interested in that. Particularly admiring comic drawings and comic art.
If any of you have been reading my journals lately, I keep mentioning a novel that I am writing, but I haven’t posted anything on my page about the story. If someone asks I have sent them a couple of small excerpts, but other than that, and my Sustenance Suckers ( [link] and [link] ) that are a large part of my novel, there isn’t a lot out. So I thought I would give people a peek and the first free writing I did for my novel project. This is how my writing obsession with this novel started. There still may be mistakes in this writing.

-----------------------------

Have you ever Read those books where you choose what happens next? The ones that take you through a story. ‘You have reached the end of the hall way. There is a door to your right and a staircase on your left. Go to page 89 to go up the stairs. Go to page 58 to open the door.’ There are unwritten rules to reading these books. Rules that, miraculously, everyone knows. Everyone follow the directions at the end of the page. I like these books, but I have trouble believing that the only choices, one has, resides on, either, pages 89 or 58.

Would it be so bad to break those unspoken rules? To be reading a book, and decide to magically transport the story line to another area? Lets say you reach your choice to go to either page 89 or 58 but instead, you close the book, and open it up on a completely new, random page. No one will arrest you if you break this law. No one will even make you pay a fine, that is as long as the book you’re reading isn’t a late library book. So what makes people follow these rules?

I’ve read several of these books. To the public eye, I’m your classic, tall, blond haired, brown eyed, 23 year old who still paints nifty, neon colors on, her nails. I’m a wannabe artist, who is going to college, and with any luck I’ll still have hair to pull out next semester. At home, I have the culinary skills to make a mean chocolate frosting and the patience to never let it reach the cake. I go to work where I get to smell coffee all day, to the super market, to the gas station, to my parent’s house, and then, just like the rest of society, I go to sleep in my own bed, so that I can live a normal life. Well maybe not completely normal. There is one difference about me when I go to bed. I still smell like coffee, but you get the idea.

The truth is, I live in a society who pretends that there’s nothing to worry about. My society believes that the most dangerous time of life is camping with youngsters, who wield flaming marshmallows on long sticks over a camp fire. People dare not step out of the boundaries of their usual lives, lives lived by everyone else, for fear of what the next person may think. According to these people, what I am is "Abnormal". Books written by these individuals of society tell me I am called a "were". They give me a name, yet, like hundreds of other legends, society doesn’t believe that I exist.

My name is Sara Nobes. I’m a 23 year old were and I’ll let individuals believe what ever society wants them to believe. I may never make it into the history books, but, I never miss the chance to choose my next page at random.

-----------------------------

Well, if you've read this far, you know how my obsession started. This project is a challenge for myself because I am tired of telling myself I'll never write a book. So here is the start of my obsession, and since I started working on one novel, my story has turned into a series of books that I'm slowly starting to plan. I still doubt that I will ever get this published, but this is mine, and if I ever consider it finished, I'll have to stop telling myself I can't write a novel.

That’s right people. As the title says, I have a tan. I never have a tan because I always go through summer wearing long sleeved shirts to hide my pasty white arts and the fact that my tan lines stop at my wrists, and then at my elbows. I still pile on the sun screen, but lately I’ve been outside so long, I’ve just forgotten to put more on when the time comes.

This summer I’ve been trying to be a lot more active as well. My future mother in law has taken me around to different farms to do the you pick, and we’ve also gone into the back of her property to pick raspberries that grow wild. This week, alone, I believe that we have brought in 15 lbs of cherries, to add to however many cherries we had before, 20 lbs of blue berries, that will have more added to them since I believe we are going back to the same farm during the week end, and a bucket full of raspberries. There should be more ready to be picked today, if I feel like fighting the mosquitoes for them. What ever fruit that we don’t eat in a day or so gets bagged and frozen for smoothies or canned. It’s a good thing that we have a second freezer, though at this point I wish the second freezer were a bit bigger.

In three days, I think we are going to go peach picking. I’ve never gone peach picking, so that will be interesting.

In other news, I’ve continued to keep myself busy. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten any art work finished, I’ve just managed to do a lot of sketching. I’ve done a lot of thinking on that Novel I keep saying I’m writing, and have covered several pages with ideas and brain storming maps. Though I’ve not done any free writing in the chapters for about a month. I’ve had a second job interview, from the same place as the first. (For those of you that have been following my search for a job.) And Matalina, that cat that I adopted, is still a cat. She has put on 2 lbs this month, and still doesn’t look fat. When I first got her, you could pick her up, and she felt like you were picking up nothing.

Other than all that, I’m hanging in there. Just trying to enjoy the summer

A lot has happened to me in the last 4 days. In fact the last four days I’ve had the best time that what I remember having in a long time. I’ve dog sat, I’ve gotten a job interview (My first job interview that isn’t a scam), I’ve gone to a dance club and partied with my fiance’s 60 something year old uncle, who talked my fiancé into dancing with me all night, ALL NIGHT! I’ve ridden a mechanical bull. And my family has taken in a cat. We’ve named her Matalina

I first learned about Matalina 4 days ago while job hunting. I can’t begin to explain all of the details that lead to me meeting up with her care taker before me because there are far too many things that just fell into place for me to talk to this lady. All that I can say is somehow, while dropping off a resume at PetSmart, I started talking to a lovely older woman, who had recently found a cat wondering around down town. The lady told me that she had spent the last few weeks trying to find the cats owner. This included going house to house, knocking on doors, putting up flyers and paying for adds in the newspaper about this cat. She was giving herself three more days, and then she had to take the cat to the pound. Her grandson was allergic and so, she couldn’t keep her.

To make an even longer story much shorter, I have her right now. Mom and I are working out expenses for vet bills and once I have work going I will fully take them on. Until then, mom is splitting her expenses with me. For the last few months, I honestly haven’t been sure that I was ready for another cat. Not after loosing Mikey to the stroke, but mom and I decided that we couldn’t let Matalina go to the pound.

It has only been a short time that we have had Matalina with us. We are currently spoiling her and thanks to her explorative nature and all, she has learned the word no very quickly. Surprisingly, she is a good fit into our family.

Matalina is the most beautiful cat I have seen in a long time. She is a tiger with light green eyes and her body is long and narrow, giving her a sleek look with a long nosed face. When she runs it’s like she’s still getting use to her long legs because it’s like her body floats while her legs go all over the place.

She really just was meant to be.

I’ve actually been doing art work despite the lack there of, in my gallery. The truth is I just need a way of getting my stuff into the computer, because shoving my pages against the computer screen or the key boards doesn’t seem to work.

I thought I would put a teaser list of things to expect once I am able to get to my mom’s house to use her scanner. Not all of these will be submitted at once. I’ll probably put them in one a day or every other day so that I don’t flood people’s in boxes.

The finished works include

- Another sustenance sucker line art.
-Two entries for contest.
-A portrait of a friend’s dog that has to be one of the most complicated portraits I have ever done because of the dog’s markings
- And a very, very late B-day sketch for (This would have been finished for her birthday had I been near a scanner….)
- A goofy necklace.

The work that are not yet finished but are half way include but are not limited to

- An entry for contest (Hope I get this finished for the deadline.)
- A goofy experiment with water color and cheep colored pencils showing my old stallion character ThunderHead
- A secret surprise for someone I have known from almost the beginning here on DA that has pixies running all over the place.
- A self portrait of me when I was little with colored pencil, (I’m actually afraid of going further with this image because it is looking so good right now, and all I have finished is the face.)
- A picture of an RPG buddy’s character in a Popeye suit.
- That Novel I'm writing that will just be in my to do list forever.

So yeah. I’ve been staying busy. And I keep thinking of things I want to start so I start them and add to my list of self projects. Then as I go I either finish things, or I set them aside and forget about them till much later. With any luck, the projects in the soon to be done list really will be finished, and not join my piles of unfinished work.

I’m not someone to just give up easily. I’m not, and I pride myself on that, but there are times when I hate that fact too. Call it a sense of pride. Since college got out, I’m back out there looking for another job. It’s not easy and I wish I knew what I’m doing wrong.

I went from store to store yesterday, asking to fill out applications and 80% of the time I was told that the store wasn’t accepting applications. In fact I was told that a few of the stores that were not accepting applications had actually just layed off some of their employees. One store was only being worked by the owner for the summer because she couldn’t afford to hire anyone. Then the stores that do allow you to fill out an application point you to the internet. Nothing is ever hand done anymore.

This isn’t a plea for something other than just to let me vent. I really just want a job. I need one for just a constant source of income, because I can’t rely on commissions for that, and because I’m going to go insane, wondering what I’m doing wrong because it seems I can fill out all of the application I want and that doesn’t mean that I’m even going to be called.

So yeah… It’s frustrating….

At the moment I’m crossing my fingers on becoming a professional dog and cat bather in a local pet salon. I’d at least get to work with animals again, though working at a café wouldn’t be all that bad either, even if I’m really not a huge coffee fan. Don’t tell them that though because it would be nice if they called back.

Ok. Now that, that, is off my thoughts I am excited about a few things. First off, My mom baught herself a scanner, so I have access to a scanner that isn’t part of school. This also means I will be able to post art work every now and then over the summer. We’ve never owned a scanner before so I’ve had to rely on the ones that either belong to school or other friends. *Does a little dance for that.*

Other news is I have art work to put up next time I have a chance to use the scanner. I have a couple of surprices for a few, a picture of Thunder head that will go up if I don’t ruin it before I finish it, (Wonders if anyone remembers my old stallion character.) And a pet portrait of a dog, I just finished the other day. It feels good to be back in business with my art work.

On another note, My novel that I’m writing for the heck of it is still coming along. I’ve been working through some writers blocks but when I get through them the ideas just seem to come too fast for me to keep up and write them down. That’s a good thing and a bad thing.

Well, There’s the big update. If anyone’s gotten this far…. Well…. Thank you. I know I write a lot.

I see people have kept busy while I disappeared and I have quite a full in box to catch up on. It’s been really hectic on this side of the internet.

My mom brought me a flyer yesterday advertising a local art show this summer for professional artists. Any one can enter but only certain pictures will be picked. It is a 15 dollar entry fee weather you get in or not, and I’m thinking about trying to do something for the competition. I doubt I will get in, as I go to this art show every year and it is always awesome, but I still am thinking about trying it. My next move is to write out the plot stage for stage so that I can keep things straight easier.

I want to thank all of you for the support and thoughts. Mikey took a turn for the worst this morning. I watched him passed away about an hour in a half ago. I don't think he was in any pain.

Please understand if I don't respond to the rest of th comments in this journal.

-----------------------------------

I had the worst feeling the last few days. I’ve felt something wasn’t right. So I came home to visit with mom and dad. Maybe it was the tone of my parents’ voices when I spoke to them, but I had the feeling something was wrong.

It turns out my cat Mikey has had a stroke. This will be the third one that we know of. His first stroke happened about 3 years ago. The second was last summer. Each time it’s been like he needed to relearn things, but each time he’s also seemed happy and comfortable. Each time he has made an almost full recovery. The difference now is that he hasn’t hardly eaten his kitty kibble in the last 4 or 5 days.

Mikey is comfortable right now, he’s laying next to me with his head against my leg and purring. He is afraid to be left along right now and if he things anyone in the room is getting up he’s yelling and trying to follow, but he cant. This is breaking my heart.

We don’t have money for a lot of vet bills and if we did, I think I know what they would say. Mikey doesn’t seem uncomfortable, or like he’s in pain. Until he does, we’re going to play it by ear. If we’d listened to the vet the first time this happened he wouldn’t of lived the last three years. I keep telling myself that. It’s so hard to know what the right thing is. I can’t think….

In my attempts to get back to my drawing I’ve found that I’ve been doodling cartoons of my very obese cat, Mikey. Some of the cartoons crack my family up. They might lead to bigger better pictures. (So far, at least, one is being made.)

In other cat news, a friend of mine has a cat that is having kittens in a month. I don’t know all of the details, but we might be taking one in. Mikey is staying with my parents as he is too old to be moved somewhere, and too naturally paranoid. I don’t want him to make himself sick with stress. We almost lost him a few years ago when we moved because he stressed himself out so bad with the strain of just being in a new place and had made himself very ill. He’s healthy now, just fat. Lol

So we are slowly getting ready for a kitten. We’ve got a few name ideas set aside but figure we’ll wait and see if the kitten names it’s self.

Also, if anyone is interested, I’m slowly putting together a novel for myself and myself alone, It probably will not be sold anywhere or finished at any time soon, but if anyone is interested, I’ll post small excerpts up as I finish them. So far things are only just in planning stages and I’m working on developing the mane characters that are based highly off of my and my best friends though with different names.

P.S. Kim Harrison’s book, ‘For a Few Demons More.’ I’m now waiting to buy the paper back of her latest release ‘The Outlaw Demon Wails’ while reading Harry Potter and skimming through Jennet Evonavich’s latest, Plum Lucky.
First off, *Eyes bug out at all of the comments in my last journal.* You yell out that there's a art theft and it's amazing how many people come running. It's been a long time since I've gotten that many coments on a journal. Also the winner of my 20K, well no one sent in the screen shot so if anyone is still interested I might still dosomething if they snap a screen shot of either 20,100 or close to that. If not, we'll just wait till 30K or something like that. No biggy.

I've been wondering this for a long time, but if I were to start offering commissions here on line, would anyone be interested in commissioning me? It would probably be basic things like portraits at first.

I'm doing ok, but in my search for a steady job that won't ask me to change my college schedual, things are starting to get tight.

As far as a few changes go, many of you have watched my art work for a few years and may sense these changes coming. I want to be an illustrator and have used DA as a way of teaching myself what I like to see, what works in art, and not to mention it has been great to get feed back. Telling me in my work what works and what doesn't.

As it is, my gallery has become a farely eclectic fantacy place. I don't draw strictly dragons or horses or blue pocadotted flying giraphs chasing cubes with wings. The problem is that my gallery lacks what is really needed in the world and level of art I want to reach.

So as a resualt fo me spending hours, sitting on the floor of Barns and Nobel with a stack of book in the childrens' section, I've realized I need to brauden my horizons. particularly with images of children.
I just noticed that My gallery is getting close to having 20,000 page views. I'm currently pritty busy but if anyone is lucky enough to grab a screen shot of the 20K page view, I could probably arainge some line art or a little simple color work done.

In other thoughts, I've greatly admired the people who post things about how to do different things. This doesn't necessarily have to do with art. For instance I've seen journal on taking care of pet rats. or training horses. If I posted a walk through in my journal, would anyone be interested and if so, what should it be about? If you post something here I don't know about, I can try to help you find out about it or at least find other people who know and can answer questions.

(Edited art theft alert)

I was browsing the journals this evening when I saw a warning out on journal.
Here is the short boring but informative version of my story.

We had a bat in the house and got it out early this morning and is my hrero.

Here is the longer, more interesting, greatly exaggerated version of my story. (No bats or people were harmed in the writing of this page.)

For the last few days we’ve thought that we had a bat in the house. The only reason we thought we had a bat in the house is for the fact that when we were bringing in groceries last week, we thought we might of seen some kind of blur run in the door, and the lights that were on flickered. Well time passed, we cleaned out the storage room searching every nook and cranny that we thought the things could get to, and came up with nothing. No little eyes staring at us, no little more lights flickering, not even a sound.

For the next few days, I went room to room (Even when the lights were on) Holding a flashlight so that I could look behind furniture, and be able to see in the corners of the room. Even inside closets, and in underwear drawers, and kitchen cabinets, and … well you get the drift.

Two days ago we stopped looking and were thinking that the bat was just a part of our combined imaginations. Anything’s possible,… Right?

All lay quiet in the house, I’d started my art work again, and my handy dandy flash light hand been up to it’s usual schedule, just sitting on top of a wardrobe near the stairs. The house was serene, until about 6 am this morning. My fiancé had, somehow, stayed up the entire night so he was away when the little bugger made his appearance.

A I am not nocturnal, I was asleep still, the alarm was only set for 8:25 and I intended on using every second I had to rest. A plan that was quickly dropped when I hear the magic three letter word.

“Honey,… Honney!”

One blurred managed to crack open. He might of said more but I was still half way in dream land. RedDragon was at the door way of the room, My flashlight held tight in one of his hands and a pair of jeans, from the laundry basket, in the other.

“Honey…” (Apparently it takes a minimum of three Honeys to wake me up from a dead sleep) “…There’s a bat in the room.”

What?!

I didn’t have my glases naturally stuck my head out from under the covers to try and look around. As if to prove my fiance’s words, a small speck in the corner of the room suddenly grew larger as the bat spread its’ wings, then fluttered back and forth like a, winged, bullet playing pinball above my head.

Naturally I did what most grown ups my generation would do when waking up to such a sight. I squealed like a little girl, grabbed a sheet off of the bed, and ran out of the room. Ok, maybe I didn’t act that badly, but it makes a comical visual, right? I mean, that little bad’s body had to be no more then three of four inches long and here I was, a 6 foot 2 inch tall grown girl, practically jumping out of my skin.

Anyways back to the story. I was brave enough to stand in the door way of the room and wave the bed sheet when the dastardly creature came my way. Mean while RedDragon was doing the dirty work. Keeping the things moving and out of the corners till he landed and we could throw a sheet over him.

I must make one little comment at this point. No matter how scary the bat was flying in the air, The second I saw it when it landed, I got a good look at him, and his cuteness factor went sky high. Of course this only lasted a split second. As soon as he landed we through a pair of jeans over him. This sound that followed was a sound both Red and I decided were easily translated from bat language to human language, but probably were words that should never be repeated. At least not here for the very fact that they could make your average trucker blush.

Then the little bugger started scurrying out from under the leg of the jeans, and let me say, if those things aren’t in flight, then can scurry like Hell. So we did the most natural things. Were through another things on top of him, and he did the naturally thing for him to do. He started cussing us out even louder. The more sheets that were thrown on top of him, out louder he got. Turning to something I’d only heard in the movies of a warrior, loosing his voice, and still commanding respect with a, rehearsed, war cry.

Some how Red and I folded his little scurrying, hollering, form into the bed sheets long enough to get the little bugger out side, where he through our cloths and bed spread out into what was left of the mud and melting snow, (We’ll be doing laundry today.) then came back inside and shut the doo...

Ok. It’s not so much of an artist block as it is I have so many things I want to draw, or have started, that will either never get finished, or will be just tucked away, and forgotten till I find it again. The problem is when I find my old in progress work again, I’ve moved past that stage in my art, if that makes sense.

So as a way to stop my artist’s block from consuming my imagination with too many ideas, I’m going to set aside a minimum of 30 minutes a night that is just me and my sketch pad. (And a pencil or two of course.) For those of you who are out there, experiencing the same problem, weather you are poets, crocheters, cartoonist, painters, what ever, it would be awesome if I could get people to join me in this block of time set aside to do what ever art they desire, that would be jut awesome. Of course this is just a thought.

You may wonder why I suddenly choose to talk about this. It is simple. I’ve watched myself fall out of practice with my art. I use to stay up late, even between studying for tests, just to draw. Now I just….. don’t… and that fact scares me. Especially after my mom use to be the same way, (My mom has always been my artistic inspiration growing up) and only recently started trying to get in the habit of sketching again.

So I started my block of time for art, tonight. After the first 15 minutes, time just flew. I’d found that it was suddenly midnight. Golly it felt good, and I didn’t realize how sore my hand would get. But I started, and much to my surprise, what flowed from my pencil wasn’t a equine, a werebeast, or a dragon, but a pixy. I’m hoping to progress farther tomorrow night.

Well I've been silent here on DA for so long. It's driving me crazy because I look at my front page of my gallory and I have images there that are from over a year ago and I really, really should have put more things up by now. At least that's the way my head has been working.

up untill a few weeks ago I just haven't had anything I wanted to load but now? Now I have at least four (Two are larger and there for have to be pieced together, two are just small sketches). So Why is it You haven't up loaded your work SP? Is that what you're asking now? (Ok maybe you're only asking that because I wrote that...)

Frankly the number one reason why is I have to piece the work together in my photopaint program. A program I really don't suggest getting unless you're desperate like me and only can afford 15 dollar image working programs. Up until recently I've had only a little trouble with it and the program would only randomly quit on me every once in a while but now it is every 5 minutes. Not enough time to get things pasted together and line up my lines. Only enough time to get close to a point where I can save something and then start cussing my head off when the thing quits.

I'd upload my images that don't need to be pieced together but I also use the program to correct what the school scanners add to my work. If I've learned one thing, it's that the community college students are a lot more respectful of school scanners. The ones at this college are scratched on the screen, and one of the newer ones, when you open it to put your image down, the top falls clear off. It's a wonder that the things scan any sort of image at all. So when I am able to use them, I often have to sit there and correct the hues of color and then go through and make more contrast. With out going back and reworking things, the scanners just murder my work.

In short, it's frustrating... I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, because I could really really use them.

For some reason, I have always been drawn to animals. Though I’ve never owned more then two cats, and a guinea pig at the same time, I’ve still managed to connect to other animals. In my life time I’ve had the privilege of training and feeding hundreds of cats. Most of them barn cats and I’ve taken them from being wild to accepting food, and a few pats here and there. Some have even become vibrating lap warmers. A select few of these cats would become so loving to me, they would actually climb a fence when I was out riding. Then from there, onto the horses back, with me.

I’ve known dogs as well, though not as many as the cats. Through my friends, I’ve been able to do some training. Mostly living my K9 relationships vicariously through those willing to let me throw their dog’s Frisbees, and hold their leashes.

It’s been horses that have made the biggest impact in my life. Ever since I was eight I’ve managed to find friends, who owned horses, and were willing to share. If only they knew how much their equine’s effected me, my self esteem, confidence, love, learning to not shake when I’m in front of people or talking, and learning to literally land on my feet. Everything. It even turns out that the first time I met my fiancé, thereddragon, I was on the back of a beautiful prancing horse, and he was running by with a sword. Ok we were both in a parade, but that type of stuff is only supposed to happen in fairy tails.

Despite all of the good times I’ve had with my animal family, there’s naturally bad times. Hard times, and sad times. Still scars I carry with me. When it comes down to it, given a chance to go back in time, I wouldn’t change a thing. However that doesn’t mean the bad times don’t still hurt. I still remember the fights I use to have with my first cat about asking her to take her medison. Putting it in her food never worked. I remember the sudden panic when my guinea pig, Trinket, first learned to open her cage door then the relief I had when I realized she had stayed in the room. I also remember Oakie’s three day struggle with colic and hugging the vet so tight when we decided he wasn’t going to come out of his pain.

Now why type about this? Because it helps. Something I’ve only learned recently. My fiancé has had his losses. We still think about his dog Dakota and grey can Strawberry. My best friend lost her dog in the same two days I lost my first cat Halloween. We talked for hours both being shoulders for each other. I’ve even had a random conversation with , among others who don’t have DA accounts, about the animals we miss.

When you open your heart it’s just a fact that take a risk of being hurt. The pain’s worth it to me.

Random musing from me today.

---------------------------------

If any of you have been following ’s journals the past few weeks, you know about her ferret and her decision to get Duncan surgery and treatment.
I’m learning more and more to step back and take a breath before each step I take. That the fraise ‘look before you leap’ doesn’t just apply to squirrels and Cats. I hope all of you do the same. Especially in this time of year when the weather makes things more dangerous, because you can do everything right, and something can still go wrong.

Before I go on I want to say that I am ok. No one is hurt. So don’t worry that way. I just started thinking how important it is to pay attention to the world around you, and how, in this day and age, we do so much less of that.

Today I was on my way to the college. I have no car so my modes of transportation consist of rides from my friends, the city bus, and my feet. I’m one of those people who has always followed the rules and so I had waited for this cross walk to signal that it was ok to cross. It’s always a short light when it does come on and most of the time I run as fast as I can just to get to the side walk before the green light comes on telling on coming traffic to floor their pedals and squeal their tires. Ok. Most people start moving better then that but you get the idea sometimes. Today I hesitated because a car had crossed the line and stopped under the traffic light. It didn’t look like she was going to do anything about it except wait for the light there so I continued across the street. It wasn’t until I was right behind her bumper that she decided she should back up, and so she did. I heard her coming and looked up to see that her head was down looking at her side mirror. I must have been in her blind spot. All I could do was move back as well and I smacked the side of her car to get her attention. A scary moment but again I remind people I am ok and all is well. I did get to the other side of the street unscathed.

The lady was just your average person, on her way to work, with a lot on her mind. She didn’t even have a cell phone to her ear and for the few seconds we talked and she made sure I was ok before her light turned green, she was a nice, sweet, concerned person. Not the devil that everyone thinks about in those situations. Things can just happen to anybody with anybody at any time.

Just something I wanted to share, in hopes of reminding people to take a breath, look around, and think.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I know times are getting tight for several of us. is currently hoping to raise money for her Ferret’s, and friend’s, growing vet bills by selling a paw print pendent.
It feels good to be back in the swing of going to class and having something to stress about that isn’t family related. The past winter’s break had a lot of emotional ups and a couple of emotional downs.

The lowest emotional point of the holiday break was about two or three days before Christmas. One of my friends horses died. If you know me at all then I’ve told you. The rest I am telling now. I worked with this horse in 4h off and on from the time I was 12. Even going out and continuing to work with him now that I’m too old for 4H. Abe was a 28 Tennessee Walker. We knew he was starting to have trouble but he was still going out and kicking and playing with the rest of the herd. Probably the reason why I made my last deviation to look like him, with his markings. The horse looked proud.

I haven’t been out to my friends place to see where he is laid to rest yet. I know that there is already another horse in his stall, and I know that there is a raised patch of dirt just past the pole barn. So I’m prepared, but I know as soon as I see either sight, I’m going to break down again.

Now that I’ve shared that side of the holidays, again not everything was sad, or even bad. I found out one of my cousin’s will be going to school closer to where I live so I might be able to visit him. All of my life, most of my extended family has lived far away. So this is kind of a big thing to me. He wants to go to a hockey games. I’ve never gone to a hockey game but I will with him. Maybe in the fall we could go to a foot ball game too.

I also got to visit with a friend I hadn’t seen for four years. She’s just started keeping in better touch and she wants to get to know my fiancé, for me. Get to know him and make sure everything is ok, but so far I think he has her approval, as he does with all of my other friends. A note to all of you girls out there. When you fall in love, your man not only has to get the approval of you, and your family, he also has to get the approval of your best friends. This also leads me to another funny note. If your father doesn’t put fear in your man’s heart your best friends will. Well,… My best friends will. I find it funny. Luckily thereddragon now does too.

So there is the big highlights of the last few weeks of my life.

There are things I like about this time of year, and things I just can’t stand. I hate impatient drivers, particularly the little old ladies that cut me off on the street then twist around in their seats giving me the finger for, slamming on the breaks and, stopping. (This happens at least once a year during this season.)

Another problem I have with this time of year is simple grocery shopping becomes something my family plans a strategy for with her precision of a special opts team. Walky-talkies, store maps and all, and it’s not the holiday season without getting rammed in the backs of the ankles with an hit and running cart. (I already have my bruises for this holiday. Battle scars I ware proudly for braving such dangers.)

Now that I’ve complained there are things that I love about this holiday season. The down town parks are decorated, there are horse drawn carriages all over the place, I have more of an excuse to drink my teas and snuggle with Thereddragon, and there is a bell ringer who always volunteers to stand in front of the stores to collect pocket change for those who don’t have much. Every year I look forward to seeing him sitting on the side walk because you can’t help but smile when you pass him. He’s out there with a boom box blasting out Christmas songs, He dresses up with a big red nose and reindeer antlers, singing, and dancing to his music as he collects the cash for the less fortunate. The weather could be blizzard conditions, and he’s still out there with a smile on his face acting like he’s having the time of his life.

I didn’t have a lot of change to drop in his bucket today, when I saw him. Only a couple of quarters, but I plan on going shopping again in the next few days. With any luck he’ll be out there again as well.

Just writing this journal to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. I hope you all have a good holiday and, for those of you still going to school, a good break.

Normally I’d be headed up north to be with my extended family. Unfortunately half of us down here have to work tomorrow. I’m going to miss going north this year. At least I know we will definitely be able to go up for Christmas. Plus I can try my own hand at cooking the meal for my own, closer, family, seeing as I’m one of the only ones who doesn’t have to work.

This could get interesting.

On a plus I did get my laptop back and, as I thought, the warranty covered everything. I spent the last day reprogramming it, and I almost have everything all caught up. So I’m happy about that as well.

Again Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Also Please welcome a good friend of mine to DA. I think I've known him since middle school and they are just awesome.

Well the title kind of says it all. Only no. My Pc did not fall. Just the hard drive crashed. (Special thanks to my fiance , for trying to fix it for me and figguring out what was wrong with it.) something the store manager had said was common with laptops. Luckly I bought a warenty. (Never leave the store without one.) So evrything they are doing to my computer is for free. It just means untill I get my laptop back, I have to use the schools computers (That people have broken half of the keys on I might add) for my studying, e-mail, and DA messaging time.

ok. Onto some good news. I'm trying my hardest to get back into my art. Time has been thinned out even more between school and the rest of my life but I have adapted somewhat. I just started carrying a smaller sketch pad that fits in my purse. (I have a big purse.) So far that seems to help and I've got a sketch of Kleo waiting to be scanned right now. Maybe someday I'll get back to my more realistic work but at the moment cartooning seems to be all I have time or patients for. *Shrugs.*

Well I just had to let you people know I'm still alive.

As the title says. I’m hanging in there. The last few months, we had switched to a slower internet provider. Good service, Nice people, just slow and the connection we had doesn’t seem to like to handle DeviantArt. Most of the time not even showing the page. As a result, I’ve been absent.

So far the summer has slipped by. My family didn’t take a vacation. Instead I’ve spent it trying to get a second part time job. The problem is that the people who are hiring either want to send me to work at a store I can’t get to on the bus, (I need a job before I can buy a car.) or when I start talking to the employer about my schedule, they want me to change my classes for college around for them. And then tell me that after that my work schedule is likely to change again. Sorry future employers who want me to bend over backwards for a job that wont get me farther in life. I put my schooling first.

At least they’ve been up front with me. I’d of hated to get hired only to end up messing up the classes I’m taking. So the job hunt continues. Maybe I’m just picky.

As far as my art work goes, I haven’t gotten that much done. Only a few sketches and a colored pencil to replace one of my portfolio pieces. I’m hoping the newer one would represent me better then the older one. Just need to sit down for a couple of afternoons and do it. Once the semester starts again, I should be able to use the school’s scanner. There’s another thing I need to get a job to buy for myself. Until then I’ll be getting by.

SP out.

Well I know I haven’t been on that much lately. I apologies for that. I have been trying to keep up with 17 credit hours at school and the time that I have been on the internet is mostly spent looking up information for class or gathering my homework. My in box that has well over 1500 deviations can account for that. BTW I fully intend on viewing and enjoying them all.

I understand that some of you may wonder what happened to the illustration contest. It is still on if people are interested. I only have about 7 entries at the moment and considering the initial interest I would like to hold out for more. I will be posting an update to it in a couple of days.

In other news I have started a site advertising / chat board that can be found here. [link] I am still working on the graphics for the banners but the place is ready for people to start using it.
Well in four days I start school at a University. Last semester I graduated with my 2 year degree from a community college with in the time I was there I felt it grew. They added on a new building that made the grand total of buildings that the college had that I knew of in town 4 if I include a museum for kids that is run by the college.

I honestly don't know what to think yet at this new place. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours wondering around with a map looking like a fool trying to figure out where all of my classes are going to be located. This new place must have 2 dozen red brick buildings that all look the same to me. Talk about the small fish in a big ocean feeling. Forget the pond phrase. I am saying ocean as in all of the oceans on earth put together.

Another thing to think about is that I am probably one of the students with the most family history on this campus. Both of my parents went there when they were my age. Same with half of my family on my mothers side. My father and his family lived on the campus and the very building that I will be taking my math class in was build over where the foundation of their house use to be. My great grand father was a secretary to the president of the college for over 30 years. Infarct it is thanks to him that I was even able to go to a university at all. When I was six months old he assured me a four year degree witch with out that I wouldn't even have a chance for.

I suppose that is another reason why I am so nervous about going there. I am afraid I am going to let him down. I haven't even been accepted into the area of the college that I really want to study in yet. In order to get into the art / graphic design area of this college I have to apply and submit three original works based on instructions that they give me. I hear that they only accept 20 new students a semester.

Well... That is what has been on my mind lately. So please understand if I am on here less and less. for a while. I will still get through all of the deviations eventually. I am just going to do my best this semester and try not too crazy...Yet.

Things are going rather well for me right now. I spent most of last week at the county fair helping out my old friends with their horses. Not just any horses but draft horses. You just have to love those gentle giants. They really are amazing to be around. I also gave away one of my drawings. Some of you might remember this one. [link] It has been in my pile of work for quite a while. I was going to color it but never really found a good time and I believe this one wasn’t ment to be colored. That may sound weird but it is true. When ever I sat down to try to start the coloring possess it never felt right.

Well anyways I decided to give it to the person who let me use her draft horses in 4-H and who I might add continues to let me come out and play with them. The three horses in the picture all belonged to her once. One passed away and she doesn’t have the other two any more even though she wants them back. Well anyways I know the picture ment a lot more to her then it did to me. When I gave it to her she got a little misty. This is the second year in a row I have given art work away at the county fair and it ment that much to someone. I don’t know what to think when my art work causes someone to have tears. It is a really odd feeling and I don’t know if I will ever become accustomed to it.

My friend was so happy with the image that she had shown it around the barn. For the rest of the day the drawing was displayed on a tack box for the rest of the people to come and look at it. As a result people wanted to see more of my work so on the next day I brought in my portfolio feeling all professional because all of my print outs were mounted last semester and still looked good. As a result I walked away with a logo design commission, two t-shirt designs for my old horse clubs I use to be in, and a couple of portrait requests. Really not a bad start considering.

O and if you all have read this far I am still getting use to the new DA layout. Don’t know how I feel about it yet but silly me I might of deleted and blocked people’s art work and I don’t know how I did it. All I know is that I should have deviations to look at from the last few days and they aren’t there so how do I fix it?

Alright. I am stumped on what to do with my friends computer in Illustrate CS right now. I guess someone went on it thinking that they were going into photoshop and started Xing out of random tool windows. That is all fine and dandy because normaly you can go to the windows bar and bring those windows back up. Normaly not a big deal. The only thing is most of the things to bring up including the tool box, layers, strokes, and about 2 dozen other pannels are missing from that area and we cannot figgure out what happened to them.

So here is the help thing. If there is anyone who can tell me what needs to be done or point me in the dirrection of a website that helps us out I will do a Chibi line art request.

We really need to get this program going ASAP because we are working on a website and this is the mane computer we are using.

Well every now and then I have to do a little update on myself. right?
At least that is what I think. Lately I have been kept pretty busy. I am working on a web site for a friend and at the moment am experimenting with an anime chibi style. That is the style that the person wants the kids page illustrations to be. Most of that work will not be able to be posted here but I will see if I can at least post links and a few screen shots. frankly anime really isn't my thing but at the same time I have developed a new respect for those anime artists who do such spectacular work. Also if anyone has any good links to some good anime chibi art I would love to see them.

I realized a few days ago my birthday passed by a month ago and I never said how it went. For those of you who want to know it was ok. I got to eat out and visit with the horses at the barn but it was also hard. My guinea pig passed away that day and I still am getting up in the mourning thinking I have to feed her. Purity pathetic. I know.

Other then that I have been hanging out on some rpg boards. My screen name on them is werecat. if anyone is interested here are the links to them.

Ok The Illustration contest is back on. i apolagise for it taking me so long to get the information back up on here.

_______________________________

  A contest? You say

That is right another contest. This will be my second one that I have hosted. As some of you may know or have figured out I would like to become a professional illustrator. I love the illustrations that are found in children’s books and I often find myself going to Barns and Nobel just to sit there for a couple of hours thumbing through what ever catches my eye.

So what needs to be done for an entry? You say

Just illustrate something you would like to see in a children’s book. This could be of almost anything in any media you choose. You could show a mother and daughter, a unicorn getting a drink, or the life of an apple. For instance if you were illustrating an apple it doesn’t even have to be a normal apple. It could be flying through the air with butterfly wings being chassed by a hungry goat, or you could have it look like a building with windows and parking garage below that resembles a bunch of grapes. I would like to encourage you to let your imaginations go crazy.

Now an illustration also needs a story that goes along with it so if you would like please put a general description of what is going on in the illustration and what the overall story is in that little box that is mint for telling all about your picture.

Now I know what you are thinking. Wow SP you really are being lenient with this contest. I could draw a pet rock on a stage draped with one of those hot pink feathered scarf things singing the blues and that could still be an entry for your contest.

What will you be looking for and how will this be judged? You say

Like my last contest I will generally be looking to see if you spent a long time on your entry and if I see any improvements in your artwork. Your work should have a good general layout. An entry does not need to have a back ground however a background would be more likely to catch a judges eye.

In the last contest I appointed two other judges. They were my best friend and my boyfriend and partner in crime. ( ) . That seemed to work pretty well last time so lets do that again.

Are there any rules? You say

Unfortunately yes. But they are easy to follow.

-	You may not use a character that has already been published in a book or who belongs to somebody else. However feel free to use characters that you have already created. If you don’t have any create a new one.
-	No tracing. If I am able to prove that a person traced over something that another artist had already created that person’s entries will be instantly disqualified.
-	You entry mush be created for this contest. In my last contest I had people trying to enter things that they had done a while ago and I found that unfair to the people who were sitting down and taking their time to finish there entries before the deadline.
-	Last and perhaps most important is keep your images so that children can view them. That means no nudity of any kind. Nothing that would generate hate or racism or anything like that. I don’t mind blood but keep it to a minimum.

So what is in it for me? You say

Well besides the fact that you will hopefully have fun there are also prizes. The more entries there are the more prized I tend to hand out.

1st prize
A 18 by 24 or 12 by 16 detailed drawing of what even subject the winner wants with a choice of media.

2nd prize
A 12 by 16 or 10 by 12 detail ink, charcoal, or pencil drawing of the winners choice of subject.

3rd prize
A 10 by 12 line art drawing done in ink of their choice of subject.
OK. So I was going to edit a little of the contest information and my finger slipped. I accidentally deleted the journal with all of the information on the contest in it. Luckily I think I saved a word document somewhere with the information in it but it will take me a day or two to get the information back up. I also need links to the entries again because I lost those with the whole journal. Again I am sorry about that people.

A little update as far as the way the rest of my life is going I am currently taking summer classes so that I can still have access to the Mac computers at School. I am also transferring in the fall and am currently working on settling all of the little things with that. Spent the day just exploring the campus. I have to say that this college is much bigger then the first one I recently graduated from. I can see why people there look so fit. Most have to walk at least half a mile just to get to one of their classes and that includes the people who have cars. I kind of feel a little out of place there but perhaps it is just me.

Since I need my new college ID more then I used to need my old one I am going to purchase a pack of those lanyards and ID cases. I won’t need the whole pack so I might offer 6 conbadge commissions. Emphases on the word might. Just let me know if you are interested. I know the offer would be late for the anthro cons that are coming up but they could be used for future ones.

When it gets wormer a friend of mine is going to let me plant a garden on their property in her name and in the name of their animals that they have recently lost.
Well as it says in the title I am back. I had a wonderful three weeks of vacation but i am ready to get back into the school groove. Wow I feel like such a geek saying that but alas it is true. While I stayed very busy through winter break I still felt like I didn't really have enough to do. The only frustrating thing for me was that I wasn't near my sketch pad enough to get everything on my to do list done so I still have a lot of art work for people on here to do. Don’t worry I have not forgotten.

The short summery of my break this year is this. I spent 90% of my time with my boy friend ~thereddragon . Together we managed to make it to all of our family events except for my family's new years celebration. We spent the night instead at his grandma's house playing Phase 10 till 5 in the morning. We even managed to have a small Christmas celebration with my best friend ~unnielass at her house. There they kept commenting on how easy it was to make me blush. (It really is easy to do.)

Well like I said I have been on vacation for three weeks and away from a computer for most of that time. I have a couple hundred messages to sort through (mostly deviations.) So it will take me a while to get through them all. I hope you all understand.

BTW if you want to know the real reason for the holiday season check this little piece of writeing out by ~unnielass To some of you it may be a small rediculus thing but it means a lot to me and her. [link]
Read all about it in her jurnal. [link]

on a lighter note I just read in 's jurnal that tomarrow startes a novel writeing month. I might try it. I have quite a few characters that I play around with and My boyfriend and I are already working on a story line for Sara and Red who are een here [link] . If anyone else is interested here is the link for the novel project. [link]

I even better news I now have a part time job working here at collage. I will be basicla working with the art lab and keeping it organized and things like that. It is only 3 hours a week (It would be funny if that was a typo and it was realy 30 hours a week.) but it is a job and it will work with my college skedual. I have also gotten a couple more commissions for pet portraits from around here so that keeps me happy.

Well that ends this news broadcast that came from you straight from the pegasus's mouth.

As many of you may remember from my last jurnal I spoke about how owr family Jeep had broken down and all. It turned out that the hole hydrolic system for the clutch had just worn out so the hole system had to be replaced. Not to mention it turned out that the stablizing bar had also snapped and we didn't know it. Thank god we know good mecanics. Though it cost quite a bit we have paid it off and the jeep is running great. Up untill I had a nice long discution with my mom about mony and all I was thinking about taking commissions like so many other people here have but for now I am going to hold off. There is a list of other people at the bottom part of my jurnal who need those more then I do right now.

In other news that colored pencil piece that I submitted last week [link] is now hanging up in the hall here at the college. So I must have done something right with it. the next project that I am doing is a self protrait. If I am able to I will document the steps I take in it but there is no promis that I will be able to stay neer a scanner while I work on it. I am also slowly working on getting through my art to do list so if I owe you art work it is being worked on dirring my free time.

In ending I would like to point out a couple of rp boards I am involved in if any one is interested. Some of them are pritty active and some of them stay pritty slow.

My boy friend and I have made a roleplaying board. We are still working on develuping the boards but if you are interested in fantacy and scyfy type things go check it out. [link] At the moment this board does not have a lot of people and it stays very very slow.

A horse rp board witch stays farely slow [link] There are not that many members but there seems to be a few new poasts every day.

A wolf rp board witch stays pritty slow. There is a continual story line and it is well organized. [link]

A dragon rider rp. [link]

A mideavil fantacy rp board with has only a few active members but it stays very active and is very well organized. Plus there is a plot that keeps everyone going farely well. [link]

One Last Lesson
By Spotted pegasus

It was difficult for me to see you so weak.
Your ribs where starting to show.
Your hair no longer had that sheen.
But your eyes.

Your eyes still show that spark,
though they also showed your pain.
I wished that I could take your pain away from you.
I wished that I could pull it out
like a piece of hair from you thick mane.

I remember leaning into your mane
As we stood on the trail at the top of the hill
Your favorite place to graze.
The doctor put the needle in
And I watched you as you fell
The hardest thing I have ever done is watch my best friend fall

When I was younger it was you who made the difference.
You taught me the most.
Thanks to your guidance I not only learned how to ride
but also how to fall.
And now you have left me with one last lesson.
This is, perhaps, the most important of all.
How to say goodbye to a friend
and how to remember them well.

These are the questions that people have asked me over the last couple of days. If anyone else has any questions just ask and I will answer then and poast them here.

~UltraSonicUSA asks

“Ever have one of those days when you can't think of anything?”

Of course I have. I don’t think any one that is human can say that they haven’t had one of those days. Those days drive me nuts too because I can never get anything art wise done either. I just sit there and stare at my sketchpad.

*moodymand asks

“Do you collect anything?”

I do collect a couple of things. I of course have some action figures and some Bryer horses but my favorite thing to collect though art tea infusers and tea balls. I have about 15 of them at the moment and am always looking for more. I like to collect them because they are so hard to find.

“What is your favorite type of cheese?”

I think I like Swiss cheese the best. It goes well with tuna fish on sandwich.

~SpottedPonyRider asks

“Do you have a crush or boy friend?”

yes I do. He is known here on DA as ~thereddragon We have been together for the last year in a half and are almost never seen in public apart. We met in a graphic design class and our first conversation was this. I was staring at him. He said "What?" I said "Nothing." He said "fine." If that doesn't give people hope for romance I don't know what will.

*Ponytail asks

“What is you favorite type of chocolate?”

What! You mean I have to choose? When it comes to chocolate I will love anything as long as there is no mint in it. The only way I don’t like chocolate is with mint. Yeah I am a chocoholic.

~alliuscattus asks

“Are aliens living in you attic?”

No for some reason they prefer to camp out in the garage.

~ladydragon069 asks

“Ho do you get your inspiration?”

I get inspiration from a number of places. Most of it comes from my friends and the horses that I am around. However I also get ideas from looking at what other people have done and how they accomplish things. (This does not mean that I copy or trace.) For instance my main fursona here on DA, Spotted Pegasus, was inspired by the first horse I ever road. He was an appaloosa. I also look at a lot of photos thanks to google and the many photographers I know.

~YOB asks

“Are you a self taught artist or did you learn the art from an artist?”

I would say that I have had a lot of teachers when it comes to my art. My mother was an art teacher so there has always been that. My grandmother was also an art teacher so it is kind of in the family. Most of the time the way that I have learned is I will do something on my own and then I will take it to class or take it around to people I know and get comments from them.

”Can you draw out your head or do you need reference most of the time?”

I can draw things like horses and dragons out of my head but half of the time when I am drawing something else I go on google and look up a bunch of pictures so that I can see all angles and multiple poses. In this case I will not draw a picture exactly as I see it unless I have taken the picture my self for (C) reasons. I will normally take different things from different pictures and combine them to make one drawing.

”If you had 3 wishes what would they be?”

Wish one would be for more time. Wish two would be for a bit more money. Just enough to get by and not have to worry, Wish three would be to be able to own my own horse. Though I have worked with a lot of horses I have never been able to own one myself.

I was told Monday night that a horse that I have leased for the last nine years had started collicking and that he was in bad shape. His name was Oakie, A 30 year old bay quorter horse. i went out in the morning to take care of him and try to keep him going. while I was out there the vatrinarian came out and told me the me and my dad would have to help put him down. That was the hardest thing that I have ever had to do but I know that it was for the best. I hope that you all understand if I am not around DA for a couple of days.

This horse tought me many things through the years like how to ride and how to fall and how to stick up for myself. the last thing here was how to say good bye.
Thank you for listening.

For this contesst I am asking you to draw a your version of a kelpie in one of it's many forms. Since the information on kelpies in the legends is very vag and seems to differ some from legend to legend there is a lot of artistic interpretation that can go on.

This contest will be judged on creativity, composission, and the work that you put in. In the kelpie project that I did I spent three weeks just gathering information on them. ( I owe a lot of thanks to the people who help me out with that.) through the next couple of weeks I will try to add more information and helpful links to this jurnal.
