I found out about *GigideMortimer on a forum named Glam. She makes bases, and also pixels her dolls from scratch. A very skilled pixel artist, and doller that is very much worth a watch.


What this is about:

Almost anyone who's been on twitter awhile has either seen or participated in #followfriday. I got to wondering "Why Wouldn't a modified version work for DA?"

I dub this Meme Watch Wednesday!

It's simple to do. Post a journal titled Watch Wednesday, in it recommend one or more artists for your watchers to watch. Perhaps featuring 2-5 thumbs from that artists gallery. You might even want to write 2 or 3 sentences about what you why you think that artist deserves to be watched.

You can recommend more artists if you want to, but that example gives a place to start.

I enjoy looking at his skillful Watercolors and trying to figure out how exactly he got something to do this, or that. He is very skilled at painting animal portraits, and not just pets. Also be sure to check out his other account where he shows off some of his other artwork.

I'm starting to offer commissions and since I haven't sold any on DA before I felt it best to start with something basic.

Options are:

One character-- Full body or portrait with no background.
Pet sketch -- quick sketch of your pet from a photo.
Basic landscape -- No characters, or animals.
Still life -- Still life from your photo.

If you want more detail, or color, please put the information in the note and I'll give you a quote. All sketches will be done in pencil, and posted to DA (Unless you request otherwise).

Please send me a description of what you want in a note, or e-mail stancymckatt at gmail dot com. A reference or a really, really good description is key. If I cannot draw what you want I will tell you up front before any money changes hands. I'll reply to your note, or email, with my PayPal id. Hello everyone.

I'm still around, I've been knitting and writing a lot lately. I have a small stack of paintings waiting to be worked on that I've been procrastinating on because of all the knitting I've been doing.

I'm working on a blanket currently it's 110 stitches wide by 7.5 inches tall. I want it to be about 30 inches or so tall when I finish so I have quite a ways to go yet. I hope to have it done by some time in February.

I'd like to feature a tutorial that I've found very useful. I don't use her exact technique, but it helped me to progress in my coloring.



I've read a lot about how to layer colored pencils, but this helped immensely on the actual mechanics of doing so.

I survived NaNoWriMo, and ended up taking a break after it was over. The good news is that I won NaNoWriMo! The bad news is I haven't done anything more than a few sketches since October.

I do have a plan on how to get over this artist's block, but I'm not letting anything out until I see if it works or not. That way If I fall flat on my face, y'all won't hear the thud! XD

New DA Layout

So far I really like it, I haven't run into any bugs yet. I'm very glad to be able to have my twitter feed on the page, and I hope I don't bore y'all too bad. With my talk of cleaning, tech, news, etc. Feel free to ignore it if you want to

It has showed me more than ever that I need a new DA Icon, my Dev ID needs reworking as well. Maybe I'll tie them together somehow, I haven't decided yet.

Writing

I hit a wall with NaNoWriMo and I'm just now starting to get back into the groove. We'll see how long this lasts this time. I think it's kind of fun in a way seeing how long a habit lasts, it's also terribly annoying because of having to start all over again, and again, and again. XD

I've been reading up on blogging, and one of the main suggestions is to write and blog every day. I've been trying to take that idea and use it in my artwork. One of my main problems with drawing daily is I don't have a really good system of keeping track of the days I've drawn. I tried using my calender, but it hasn't helped like I'd hoped it would.

My idea was a best of the day format. I'd scan my one best sketch, or page, and post it into scraps.

Would it annoy you, or possibly new watchers, too much?

It's just an odd idea I had, any feed back on it is welcome.

Hi y'all I guess it's time for an update! I'm still in a bit of shock that it's October already, this year has really gone by fast.

Before I get going too much more I want to show y'all the latest artwork by my friend *NaterRang



He's getting realllly good at shading black.


I've been doing quite a few art related entries over at my blog [link] , if y'all are interested. . Mostly the history of my various attempts at digital art [link] , and a recent revelation of sorts [link] . New artwork has slowed to a craw... I haven't really figured out why, I'm working though the problem. Here's what I have in various stages of progress at the moment.

From a Critique over at [link] Glam, it was pointed out that I need to work on my folds. Something which I'll admit I've been avoiding for awhile, so there will probably be some fold's studies showing up in scraps over the next week or so.


I've planned to participate in NaNoWriteNo aka National Novel Writing Month [link] So for at least the first part of November I'm going to be rather creatively drained until I get used to the pace. I'm planning on trying for 2k words a day. I hope that I can do it, I already have a rough plot worked out. so we'll see. (My ID on there is stancymckatt, add me if you sign up!)



I'm taking a knitting class tomorrow to see if I can upgrade my skills some. I've already done one scarf, I'm working on number two. I may end up pulling it out and starting over for the class. We'll see.

Other than that life in general is going ok. Enough from me, how are y'all doing?
