In other news, life is crazy right now. I'm moving on Sunday! MOVING! To an apartment that doesn't have mice and is beautiful and sunny and perfect! DDD *so excited* But the actual moving date falls at a bad time for me in terms of deadlines, and also we haven't found anyone to replace us in the old house yet. Alas, I will probably have to pay a month's rent extra here, but oh well - we factored it into the budget, so I'll live.

School is going... I just finished a 50% assignment for Surgical Illustration in which I had to illustrate my entire procedure and managed to basically do it in 8 drawings. It's still a lot though But that was the most stressful assignment of the year and it's done now, so I can't really complain. Now I will have to pick my favourites from there to do in wash/pen and ink/photoshop/whatever for the final rendering.

No class today but I have a sore throat anyway, so I'm taking this chance to laze in bed all day and perhaps work on my flash website (another assignment) since I think it won't be that difficult now that the main page is finished. It's SO COOL. I will post when it's finished, but it has like... a 3D spinning starmap and stuff. It's very me. But anyway, work will be done on it. Then at 6 we're showing the rooms to someone, who hopefully won't be crazy (and thus my roommates will bo ok with) and also wants the room for April 1st. Here's hoping.

Hmmm... what else... oh yes, applying for funding. Is stressful. Must send on Monday. I guess I should work on the essay for that today, but...bleh. I don't really want to write about why health communication is important or why the funding will help my future career. I just want the 21000 dollars so I won't starve/have to drop out next year It will be a project for the weekend (hah, with packing and moving. I'm such a damn procrastinator).

Anyway, hope your lives are busy and full of fun Oh, and if you are a person reading this who happens to know me in real life... want to help me move on Sunday?

Currently bored and trying to study for my anatomy final (it came up so fast!) I'm planning on posting some of the artwork I've done for my program soon, I'll probably put it in its own folder.

Hmm... soo.... I've been kind of considering getting a nose piercing. I got my ears done in 2nd year of university and have grown to really like earrings, although I'm lazy and don't wear them very often unless I'm dressing up

But yeah. I have a nice nose, it doesn't stand out on my face or anything (maybe I'll post a picture?) but it would be a change, of course, so I was wondering what you internet people thought of piercings in general and whatnot. Anyone here have one?

My research suggests that if I took care of it and didn't end up liking it, I could remove it without too much trouble or scarring. Plus I'm going to be entering a career where I am doing a lot of freelance work, probably not always face-to-face, and I think there's a certain expectation from clients that artists like me won't necessarily be particularly conservative people in terms of fashion. So I'm not really worried about it affecting work, though I'd just take it out if I thought it would.

Well, I guess it's back to learning about skull fractures for me...

Currently I'm studying Anatomy with the first-year meds and it's pretty hardcore. 8-4 with a 1-hour break, 4 days a week, with Friday as a half day. It's let up a bit recently because we have an exam on Friday so they are giving us review time, which is why I suddenly feel the need to procrastinate on dA. I caught up with all my deviations (read: I looked at probably 10% of them, so if you wanted me to see something that I missed, you'll have to link me) and even posted something that I finished back in August!

What's new in my life? Well, I moved to Toronto. My new house would be great if we didn't have additional roommates numbering in the hundreds... yes, that's right, we have meeses. I'm calling the exterminator this week (we were handling it all month but it got cold last week so they've all come into the house now).

Hmm... what else... I started playing Tales of Vesperia with my roomies (the humans, not the mice, heh), finished Okami (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), caught up on BSG, rewatching Stargate. There's a reason I ignored the internets for like a month?

I'm trying to figure out who I want to vote for in the upcoming election. That's the Canadian one, for you folks who don't know I usually vote NDP, but I feel like I need to vote Liberal to prevent the Conservatives from getting a majority... except it turns out I'm more impressed with the Green party platform than any of the others this year, which is surprising for me. Usually I wouldn't vote for them because they are traditionally economically conservative (which I don't agree with) and socially left (which I whole-heartedly agree with) but I perused their platform and didn't see anything there I really disagreed with. Anyone got any opinions? (Oh, but don't try to convince me to vote Conservative, they are not on my list of choices. No offense to the right-wingers out there, but... no.)

A few of you may have noticed (probably only those of you whom I know in real life) that I stopped coming to dA for basically all of June and July. Guess I should put a disclaimer here... I just went through probably 400 deviations and I did look at some of them, but for the most part I had to skip stuff so if you really wanted me to check something out that you did, post it and I will be sure to look/read and comment.

The rest of this entry is venting and explanation of wat is going on in my personal life, so if you don't want to read it, you can stop here.



So... I broke up with my boyfriend/fiance of 7 years in June. It was pretty much the hardest decision I've ever made, and although I know it was the right one, it still hurts like hell. I still love him - I'm not sure that will ever go away. But it wasn't working between us from my perspective, so I ended it. Right now we aren't really talking to each other, although what email correspondence we have had has been civil, even bordering on friendly. I would love to be friends with him... but not right now. We both need time to sort ourselves out and I think if I saw him now it would be too difficult to not fall back into the habit of body language and intimacy that we are used to. I think he is probably still too upset to want to be my friend anyway, and that may never heal. We'll see. I miss him.


Lots of other things are going on... I graduated in the spring, I'm starting my Master's in the fall in my home city, though not my home university, and I'm terribly nervous about starting at a new school. I'm moving sometime next month into an apartment in Toronto, hopefully, if I can find one in my price range in time. If not I might have to live at home for awhile, which I know my mom won't appreciate. One of the consequences of breaking up with my bf was that I also lost basically the entire network of friends I had in Toronto - his friends. Some of them are still in touch with me, and I love them for it, but I know that I won't really get invited out to anything group-y since they'll want to protect him, and I completely understand that. Still... it'll be weird starting over and trying to make new friends in the city. I hope my Guelph friends still visit and let me visit, and that school doesn't overwhelm me so much that I become a hermit.

I'm also still playing WoW *dodges thrown objects* I'm a human pally on the server Hydraxis, currently lv. 47. It's a better game than I thought it would be. I hope it doesn't suck me in too much by Sept. though... I've got to focus on school. :/

Well, grats if you got to the end of that. I just needed to put my worries somewhere, and dA contains the fewest number of people personally involved.

First up is , who is one of the first people who friended me on dA ^_^ I started watching her a few months ago, and she writes very yummy Naruto slash fic (with a few other things here and there).

1. "Accidental Confession," a chapter of her fic "Love's Ambition"
This was either the first or second thing that I read, and it was dedicated to me for catching a kiriban! Yay! Although the fic is overall Kakashi/Iruka, there was a SasuNaru subplot which I really enjoyed (as well as a few other pairings with OCs which I also liked). A fic well worth checking out!

2. "A Recipe For Love"
This is a short fic for a webcomic (I think?) called Wires, which I haven't actually read But I read this fic and I really liked the character interaction and cuteness of it, so much so that it's actually one of my favourites! I guess that's a testament to MrsHatake's writing of fic that I don't actually need context to enjoy it

This is pretty much what it describes! I love art of Sasuke and Naruto in schoolboy outfits, it is a not-so-secret passion! Izzyisozaki has a good eye for expressions, so the characters always look in-character, which makes me a happy panda ^_^

And now, onto my NEW obsession: Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann! HOMG. Great animation, great characters, great MUSIC, great fights... what more could you ask for in an anime??? I mean seriously - this is the anime that took the word "epic" and made a show about it. So. Frickin. Good.

So, in honour of the pure awesome that is Gurren Lagann, I am making bookmarks. Seven of them, double sided, in the style of the GL eyecatches (if you watch the series, you'll see what I mean). I will probably make an entry about that so I can cross stuff off as I do it, because 14 hand-drawn/marker pictures is kind of an undertaking (even if they aren't as complicated as full CG prints). But it will be soooo cool! So far I've done little Simon and prison!Viral. Unfortunately I am without scanner so I won't be able to post them until the 10th.

Did I mention how good Gurren Lagann is? Go watch it. Now.

First up is ! I just found this lovely artist a few days back, and I absolutely love her NaruSasuNaru art (as well as all the rest of her Naruto art). I ended up picking out 3 NaruSasu pictures from her gallery though Sorry, I'm a die-hard fangirl.

1. "Why..." is ryuusei's newest picture actually, but I liked it so much I wanted to include it. The expressions are so perfect, it makes my little fangirl heart flutter. XD

2. "Just A Little Kiss" is, in my opinion, the best piece in ryuusei's gallery right now. The hands... o_o GO LOOK AT IT RIGHT NOW. I want to colour it ;_; I found ryuusei through this picture, I believe because had featured it last week sometime.

3. "Fish Bird Lineart," as I understand, is a piece for a NaruSasu fanfic which I will be sure to check out (after Anime North ;_... I actually had the coloured version of this picture in my favourites already, from like months ago. But again, very pretty faces. I like the more mature look for Sasuke and Naruto.

Second is my very good friend, . Sketch and I have known each other online for, oh, going on 7 years now I think? He is a fantastic artist, although I know he's done more art than what is on his dA page ^_-

1. "Grounded Angel" is acually a pic I hadn't seen before, but I love the purplish colour scheme and the rendering on the wings. Beautiful!

2. "The Pencil Is Mightier" is representational of Sketch's awesomely hip style. I really like the different halftone textures in there and the stylistic, brightly coloured background. The text is really cool too XD It's very pop art.

3. "TheWindStillBlowsThroughMe" is one of the oldest pics on Sketch's dA, but probably holds up as one of his best. Apparently it took 200 layers in photoshop to produce the really lovely and intricate textures and effects in this beautiful forest scene. Great job, Sketch

Third, and last, is , who I first met at Gryphcon last March. Nikufei participated in the artist alley I was running (Gryphcon is a small gaming convention run by my university every spring). I met her again at AN07 and I'm looking forward to seeing her at AN08! (We also both participate on the artist board in the Anime North forums).

1. "Sai 4 Fakey" is an awesome oekaki of one of the least-liked characters in Naruto, Sai. Sai needs love. Nikufei provided it. It makes me happy ^_^ The picture is cute and simple, but I love it XD

2. "Loveless - Kio + Soubi" is another oekaki, again depicting a less-drawn character (Kio) from a less-well-known fandom (Loveless). Well, Soubi's in there too to sweeten the deal. So, hmm, something to make this worth posting...

Well, in the last journal I asked if I should post fic, and I got a lot of positive answers, so fic has been posted. Not much yet (and all Naruto stuff so far) but it exists. I also put up the first chapter of Faith in You, which I've never posted on the interwebs before, so unless you betaed it (which 2 of the people on my list have), then it should be totally new ^_^

In real life news, I finished applying for the Medical Illustration Master's at U of T (aka Biomedical Communications or BMC) last night. When I sent them my portfolio/transcript for prescreening last week, they sent me back an email that said they were, and I quote, "extremely impressed" and "encouraged me to formally apply" to the program!! So excited! So I went online and filled everything out, wrote my CV and letter of intent, and just uploaded that to the site yesterday (today is the deadline). I hope I get in!

Two of my references are also the liaisons with my university's art/anatomy programs and the BMC coordinator, and they told me that they are trying to get her to come to Guelph to talk to prospective students about the program, and that if she came, they would try to set up a private meeting for me with her. How cool is that? My profs are the best... I never thought I would actually get to know any profs well in university, because there are just so many students.

So yeah... workin' hard, have a big project due on Tuesday (actually was due yesterday but no one in the class finished it so we got an extension). Going to the Science Center tonight with one of my best friends for some sort of food-drink-and-science-talks thingy, looks like it'll be interesting.

Well, I guess that ended up being longer than I intended. >_> Ta!

Umm... let's see... the vast majority of my work is drabbles or short stories (a few hundred words). The longer fics are September Rain (SasuNaru) and Memoria (SephCloud), both sitting between 3000-4000 words, Faith In You (SasuNaru), which is around 16000 words but unfinished, and my novel, The Gate to Elenaela, which is 3300 words, although the original, unedited version is pushing 100,000. Most of my work can be found elsewhere on the internet (on my SasuNaru LJ and my website), although Faith In You has never been posted due to its unfinished nature.

So... yeah. There's a pretty good overview of what I have to offer. So tell me, people of DA - are you at all interested in seeing any of this stuff? Be honest!

1. I am currently building a sculpture for my class out of brightly coloured paperclips. Yes, I pay tuition to do this craziness

2. I like crimson nailpolish. At Hallowe'en I painted my nails this colour but I was busy finishing my costume and the polish wasn't dry so they chipped badly. It was sad. ;_;

3. I have a cat named Magic, but I like to call him "Pretty Kitty Princess" because he is beautiful and knows it. He is giant and white with crystalline blue eyes and I love him to pieces (even though he's kind of a shit disturber).

4. I have cosplayed Rikku (FFX), Miyazawa (KareKano), Ino (Naruto), ANBU (Naruto), Edward Elric (FMA) and Suki (Avatar) in that order. This year I'm doing Penelo from FFXII: Revenant Wings!

5. Even though half my family is French Canadian, and I took like 6 years of French classes, I can't speak the language. It really sucks at family gatherings when the adults are telling jokes in French and you understand just enough French to get the set-up, but not enough for the punchline. Fail.

6. If I were in Hogwarts, I think I would be a Ravenclaw. But I like Gryffindors

7. I am going to be a DM soon, for my first time ever! And my game will be full of win (I hope).

8. I have a hat with cat ears and flaps and mittens with paws on the palms. They make me happy XD
