I've been trying to get out of an art funk lately, and trying to do some drawing other than just No Need for Bushido over and over and over and... well, I've decided to keep myself focused on something other than the comic, I'll update this poor neglected gallery again! In fact, I'll perhaps try to update it once every two days or so with something new! Will I actually be capable of such a feat? Probably not, I've made such foolish promises to myself in the past. But that's negative thinking, and I'm not gonna listen to myself! At least my alternate, nega-self.

Seriously, I check my DA watch list literally two or three times a day, the least I could do is update once in a while, right?

I got season 9 of Stargate SG-1 on dvd for my Bday. So, other than season 8, I own every available season of Stargate SG-1 on DVD, and I've pretty much been marathoning it. Stargate SG-1 is definitely my favorite tv series of all time (that isn't a cartoon). Eventually I'll make same SG-1 fanart or something. I was pretty bummed when I found out the series was cancelled, so season 10 will be the end. Thankfully, there will be two direct to dvd films to finish the series, which I'm excited about, and the always awesome Stargate Atlantis will continue into it's fourth season. I've also heard that Amanda Tapping is going to continue to play character as a main(?) character in Atlantis! ANYways, yay, stargate! KAWOOSH.

Avatar Season Finale??

Hi peoples. Let’s talk about this Avatar: The Last Airbender season finale, shall we? I’ll even give you the benefit of mentioning that this will be SPOILER INTENSIVE.

OK, how many people were happy with the outcome of the finale?

*one person raises her hand in a theater of thousands*

Ugh, a Kataang shipper! Get her outta here!

*offending girl is tossed from theater*

Pssch, crazy Kataang shippers. Umm, not that I’m into shipping or anything, cause that’s TOTALLY A GIRL THING. Gotta admit, though, that Zuko and Katara were, like, made for each other… ANYWAY:

“Azula always lies, Azula always lies…”

That’s what Zuko’s been telling himself for half his lifespan, and yet, for some gods unknown reason he continues to believe his evil witch-bitch of a sister! In fact, everyone on the planet could tell him “Azula’s evil and lying to you,” and if Azula says “help me and you’ll reclaim your throne and daddy will love you again” he’ll be like “OK!” And this is exactly what happened in the season finale! Despite his good looks, apparently Zuko’s a RETARD.

Now that’s not to say there wasn’t a whole heck of a lot that was totally insanely awesome about the finale, such as Toph’s new metal bending abilities and the chakra release training sessions (You must unlearn what you have learned!), but nearly every time we saw Zuko this season, it seemed to be building up to his transformation into a good guy. I can understand that the writers probably wanted to psyche out the viewers by doing something unexpected, but I’m almost offended at how Zuko’s decision to “stay the course” on his ‘capture the avatar’ policy contradicted nearly every character building moment he’s had this season. This was the one event that I didn’t want to see go through a 180 degree unexpected turn. Now this whole season finale felt like a rehash of Empire Strikes Back, which I thought was fantastic, cause Empire’s my favorite Star Wars film. But it got all mucked up in the end. So here’s my version of what I’d HOPED would happen:

Aang and Katara leave the crystal cave ready to save the day! But's Azula waiting and takes them both on HARDCORE, and after a fantastic battle, both of them are out for the count (to use a cliché). Suddenly Zuko appears (all sleevless and looking TOTALLY BADASS like a streetfight character), having decided to fight back against Azula! An Agni Kai-esque battle ensues, during which Zuko deflects Azula’s lightning right back at her. This results in Zuko’s quasi-win, pushing Azula back for a moment and giving Zuko enough time to save either Aang or Katara, BUT NOT BOTH (gasp)! Zuko isn’t certain who to save, but a semi conscious Aang pleads that Zuko save Katara first. Zuko takes a hold of her but Azula comes back with all the earth bender troops. In the end, Zuko makes his escape with Katara, and Aang is captured, and the earth kingdom is conquered by the fire nation. It’s all very Empire Strikes Back and even though Zuko’s come out a good guy, the greatest hope for the future is now in the hands of the fire nation, which, I think, would make for a much more dramatic finale. Not to mention it would set up the beginning of the third season with the planning to rescue Aang! It’d be all ‘Return of the Jedi’! Would not that be fantastic? Alas, this did not come to pass, and Zutara shippers are left frustrated and alone in a vast see of poor writing and nonsensical character decisions. Not that I care, of course, cause I’m not a Zutara shipper.

Ok, anyone who knows me knows that I usually don't touch anthropomorphs with a ten foot pole. But I make an exception for Starfox for multiple good reasons. The first reason being because Arwings are such frickin' cool rip offs of X-wings. The second is that the art direction in star fox gemes tends to be so rich that my eyes melt out of my head. I mean, wow, everything in starfox games looks so damn cool.
Only in Starfox do I find anthropomorphs so cool looking. Oh, that and Poison Wind (the webcomic).

On top of that Starfox games have incredibly good music, and the most recent game, Assault, has a fully orchestrated soundtrack comprised of all the memorable themes from the previous games. Also the number of scifi cliche's in any Starfox game are so numerous that I can't help but feel that Starfox is partly an expansive scifi parody, and that makes it all the more entertaining.

ANYway, Starfox assault is great fun. Yes, it's too short, and yes the ground missions can get frustrating, but it still feels an awful lot like Jet Force Gemini, which was also awesome (in my worthless opinion). On top of that, I like games I can beat in one sitting, because I'm deranged like that. I think the best thing about Starfox, though, is that if feel like I'm playing a character in a really bad saturday morning cartoon, akin to Voltron, silverhawks, and the like, and i can't help but feel nostalgic about it. Previous Starfox games have given me an equally warm and fuzzy feeling. I LIKE WARM and FUZZY feeeeelings!!! But I usually don't like anthropomorphs. Don't hate me!
