Anyway, at 9:30 pm today, I turn 20 years old (I'm getting old!). I've had four people text/call me while I was asleep to tell me happy birthday, and my mom told me this morning, then sent me back upstairs (complaining all the while that I never get up this early for school).

Anywho, tomorrow's gramma's birthday, and I have to scamper off to do a picture for Tehartmonkey. Tomorrow is her birthday, too. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a scanner tomorrow to post it... If you would, please stop by her page tomorrow and wish her happy birthday.

1. What does your deviantart name mean and why did you join this site?
My deviant art name just popped into my head after trying several names and failing. So, it actually was not something I picked because it held some value to me. One of my friends told me she thought sukio meant something along the lines of "tilling the land." As for joining the site, I was looking up some characters, don't remember who they were, and stumbled on this site. I got so inspired, wishing I could draw/color like them that I joined... And then was dead for about three years D:

2. What fandom where you obsessed with when you joined and what are you into now?
When I joined... I'm really not sure. That was a long time ago. As for now, into Cyborg 009 and Suikoden again. And G Gundam, too.

3. How many watchers do you have now?
Was I supposed to be keeping track D: Consider yourself lucky: I went and counted. I have 181 watchers.

4. Name 3 of your favorite artists on DA.
Sorry. I don't really have favorites. I like everyone's art. Thought I guess two of them are and ... Biscuit's art just makes me giggle and I rp with naramurasaki in real life. She's my best friend. On the bright side, my spanish class isn't meeting today. I hate saying that, since the teacher's really nice, but...

On another note, the campus at least has a beautiful view of fields and woods around it. Actually it makes me want to write something. I will later. After some of the others. First, my book, A Soul Within, has to be finished. Then, I have to finish at least one of the three books of Shattered Hearts. After that, I may mix some of the characters of those two and call it Pandora's Box. Either way, that's a long way off from right now.

Class is about to start. I have about six or seven minutes, so I'll try to hurry.

My dreams are telling me 002, 003, and 009 are people I need to look up to since everyone else in school are zombies. I don't know why, but this was my dream:

I was 002, and I was running from zombies. I came into a school with the other two, and all three of us got enrolled. However, since it was a mission we were on, I had to act like a preppy kid, and I always hung out with Francoise, who had become a cheerleader to look normal, and Valorie, the head cheerleader. Francoise and I had to act like I could control her because supposedly her character was caught between me and Joe (Joe was a football player and barely showed up in the dream. I think the only sound he made was laughing at a joke I made). So I could get Francoise and one other girl to listen to me. At the end, the manager for the cheerleaders (who was a dude) and Valorie tried to say that I got bit on the hand by a zombie, and they should watch out for me. I called her bluff, grabbed her hand, and showed them her bite marks. Then I woke up.

I know, right? Pretty messed up. I don't think Jet could even start to act like a happy bugger if someone or something pissed him off. In a way, since I was Jet in the dream, I had Jet's appearance, but still had my mind.

On even better news, I watched my new favorite movie last night: Merlin's apprentice. It was good.

Anyway. 1:30, so I have to go. We're not staying in the computer room for class today.

It was odd, but kind of sad. Here it is:

Black Ghost had saved and revived Hilda and sold her to another company. Only they were called Krystal Phoenix (don't ask XD)

She had thousands of children, and one was named Cecil. He and a group of four others were captured by the cyborgs (for trying to fight them, proving to be VERY strong, and then losing. Cecil, who was one of the three who had wings (the other two were a laiger [can't spell] and a tiger. They were humans [all of them] with animal genes in them), turned out to NOT know his father, but his mother was Hilda

Of course, Al freaked out and grabbed him by the shoulders demanding answers, but Cecil was only 11 and scared easily.

Finally he told Albert that he didn't know who his real father was, but Hilda was his mother. She was alive, but not the alive he would want her to be. She lived only to house infants, and when they were born, the process started over. She had many mechanical parts (including her heart) in her, but the blood was hers. It was recycled to keep her alive, and given to her children, including Cecile (who looked a little like her to begin with).

He was upset, but he started treating Cecil like he was his child just in case

It turned out in the end, tho, after all his worry and stuff that Cecil was NOT his, but he wouldn't get rid of him. He told the cyborgs that if it was his wife's child, then he could still raise him, because he loved Hilda, and Cecil was Hilda's child.

And that's where it ended XD

Keep in mind that most of this was just copied and pasted from a chat I had with a friend because I was too lazy to really type it out.

Part two of the Cyborg 009 dream

Okay. Long story short.

Here it goes:

Cecil got them into Krystal Phoenix where several genetically altered children were running around. They fought passed many guards, most of them altered children, and Cecil brought them to Hilda, who was sealed up in a tank of fluids with a mask to help her breath. She was naked and pregnant, and needless to say, Albert got very angry. He started to try to help her out when a kid's voice made him stop.

Behind them, there were several brunette/orange haired kids (there were five), and the one in front kept grinning wickedly at Cecil. It turned out that they were all Cecil's brothers and sisters, and the leader had been made from the left over DNA in some of Albert's dead skin. In other words: the leader and the evil guy (as far as I know he was evil. He definitely acted like it) was Albert and Hilda's son.

He had the orange-ish hair with black tips, and white bangs. He was a boy that was part fox (all five of Cecil's siblings were part dog or cat based animals. Ex: lion, FOX, wolf, etc. At least from that group of five.)

Apparently, during the fight with the fox boy, they were beaten, because Cecil woke up later with Albert at his side, taking care of him. Albert looked pretty depressed (poor Al), but he was still taking care of Cecil. Cecil looked up at him long enough to hear him promise to take care of him, then passed out again.

He woke up some days later, spotting Reggie (more on that in a minute) running from Jet. Jet, for some reason, was trying to get Reggie to change his clothes. Guess he just wouldn't change his clothes for a week.

Characters:

Cecil: Bird hybrid- Hilda's son and (technically) Albert's step-son. Main character. 11 years
Reggie: Bird hybrid- Blue hair, always wears goggles, semi-long hair. 13 years
Preston: Bird hybrid- The leader of the main group. Brown hair. Perry's half brother. 16 years.
Perry: Liger hybrid- Preston's half brother and VERY protective. Blond. 19 years.
Kage: Tiger hybrid- Sandy colored hair. Youngest of the group at 8 years old.

The other characters have yet to be named in my dreams. Including Albert and Hilda's son.

Another fact I just remembered is that Albert and Hilda only have one kid, and surprisingly, he wasn't sure if he loved the boy or disliked (not hated) him. The feelings of his that I felt said both: he loved AND disliked the boy. Loved him because it was his son, and it was HILDA's son, but disliked him because he wasn't what he expected. He wanted a son that he could raise, and even if he couldn't raise it, he wanted his kid to STOP ATTACKING the main characters. However, the bad guys are after them because they "betrayed Krystal Phoenix."

Hmm.... Lenin or Jack. Lenin because he's quiet and doesn't say much, but he's caring and tender when it comes to those he truly cares about. Sacrifice is no big burden to him if someone he loves is in terrible danger. He is also very effective in lessons and has a lot of patience. He knows what it's like to be alone and does his best to be there. Jack has been caring for two little girls for a very long time even though he's only 14. He's a street rat who has to live by stealing what he gets, but he is always very firm in decisions when it comes to safety. He does his best to protect those he truly cares about.

You've heard the old maxim before... 'a character can make or break your story.' Okay, okay, so you want to write an interesting character. You've got some plot ideas, you know a little bit about your world, but now you need your characters. And not just any old characters - no, these have got to be the most original, most interesting characters your reader will ever come across.
Ah yes, such is the desire of all writers. And yet, how is it that in classic fantasy we see the same heroes and villains generated over and over again? We've got the rugged wanderer who keeps to himself, the kid who's suffered amnesia and just happens to be royalty, the elf who despises the dwarf (and it's mutual), the reluctant hero who's handsome, brave, and self-sacrificing, the girl who's very beautiful but never gets along with the hero until the end of the story, and the evil overlord type of villain who cackles maniacally whenever things are going his way.
Enough already! We want to see something new for a change!
Before we dive into Creating Original Characters, I'd like to offer a disclaimer.
Disclaimer: I don't claim to know everything about writing. In fact, I don't claim to know very much about writing at all. I'm just a teen like a lot of you, with my own silly little ideas and a large collection of tips and tricks I've gleaned from just about everywhere. What I write should not be taken as gospel or absolute truth - it's just an organised way for me share with you what I think works. It's my opinions. I'm sure a few of my suggestions and drabbles will be shot down by readers, and that's fine. Take what you like, and ignore what you don't. I encourage you to add your own two-cents to this article. That's what the comment box is there for, after all.
Note: There is already an excellent tutorial about writing the Villain, so I won't make specific references to writing an antagonist. Besides, I'm not very good at writing believable villains yet! I highly recommend that you read the aforementioned tutorial, though.
The Basics of Characters
1. The first thing about characters - They are just one facet of a good story. They are essential, but if you don't have a world for them to traipse around in and a twisty plot so that they can actually do something, then they're gonna get bored, and - worse - your reader will, too.
2. Listen to them! If you manage to create a good character, she'll practically come to life. She will have her own opinions and demands, and if she doesn't want to fall in love with the hero, don't force her into it. She'll be unhappy, you'll be unhappy, and your story will seem contrived. She might even hit you over the head with a strong dose of Writer's Block for it. Your characters know who they are. Try to keep an open mind to their suggestions. Humour them.
3. Exaggerate them. If he's egocentric, make him really egocentric. Real-life people are a mix of a lot of things, and their quirks don't usually go to the far end of extreme. In a story, though, your character will feel more real if he's actually less real. Like real-life, he should be a complex mix of more than one thing, but try to have one or two of those things super-sized. As a reader, we like to be able to label a character, and if they have one or two defining characteristics, it makes it easier for us - we just say 'she's arrogant' or 'he's lazy.'
4. When I talk about characteristics and unique traits, I don't mean that she has a really weird birthmark or he has silver eyes. Other tutorial writers have said it, and I'll say it again: if you're trying to breathe originality into your character, strange physical attributes are a cop-out. No purple-haired humans or glowing birthmarks unless you can come up with a really, really good reason for them. If you're giving him blue hair just because it looks cool, you need to rethink your character. Instead, give him a crooked smile, lots of freckles, or really big ears.
5. Don't let your characters be perfect. Ever. The hero can't always be brave and selfless, especially if you combine it with roguish good looks and a talent for swordplay. Characters need flaws. I cannot stress that enough. They need to be imperfect. They need to have quirks and fears and obsessions. They need a weakness.
6. Let your character be special for who she is and what she does, not who she's related to or because she's destined to save the world. Her defining points should not be based on a condition - she's pregnant, she's under a curse that allows her to only speak in rhymes, she's deaf. She should be interesting for her personality and her quirks. If she's heading out on a quest to save the world, she should be doing it because she has the internal motivation to do it. Decide on the basics. What's their name? What color is their hair, eyes, and skin? How old are they? What type of schooling do they have? What is their family like? How tall are they? How much do they weigh? What distinguishing features does your character have? Get to where you can picture what they look like in your head.
3. Go to a web site that offers personality quizzes, such as blogthings.com. Take some quizzes, answering the questions the way your character would answer them. Copy and paste all the results in Microsoft Word or some other similar program. This will help you decide on your character's general personality.
4. Ask yourself some deep questions about situations that can help you determine your character, such as, "What would my character do if his mother died? What would he do if he met a long lost family member? What would he do if confronted by a bank robber? If someone held a gun to his head?" These are the kind of questions you should ask, and write the answers down with the quiz results. By now, you should have a good idea of your characters personality.
5. Think of how you would talk to your character if you were around him. Think about his hopes and dreams, their fears, their memories.

I decided to write this because I tend to see a lot of writers asking people to submit original characters. Most of the time it’s because they have a hard time creating them. The other times they ask is simply because they don’t have the time to make the characters themselves. But I feel that, by doing so, the writer cheats themselves of a well balanced story. Only because the original characters created by others, weren’t intend specifically for their story (sometimes they are but most people already have original characters done before hand). So this leads to the balanced of the story being thrown off a bit. It’s best for a writer to created their own character for a story because only they have a complete understanding of them and what they expect from the character. If it was another submitted character, a writer wouldn’t get the same deep understanding as they would have with their own.

Anyway, I hope this will help anyone that has a hard time creating and developing a character. This may seem long but don’t let that fool you. I explained each step with details to give you a better understanding so it’s pretty long. You’ll also see some do’s and don'ts too.
Creating and Developing an Original Character


The six steps below are pretty simple to follow and they will help you to establish a foundation for your character. And once you do, you can develop them into an awesome character that isn’t a Mary-Sue or a Gary-Sue.

1. Your character depends on the type of story you are writing. Such as if you’re writing a horror, fantasy or a historical fiction. It is with this that will determine the kind of character that you want. So you must keep in mind that your character should be able to fit into that type of genre.

2. When you know the type of story you are going for, you can then decide the basics of your character.

Name: Don't just use any names or the ones you like. If you need help in thinking of a name then do some research. Look up baby naming sites or look up history sites. Sometimes you can find names that you may want to use. Also, make sure the name you choose matches the personality, the national background (if they have one) of the characters and the story well.

Gender: Male or female, it's a very simple decision.

Eye color: When it comes to eye color, most people like to use unusual colors. It would be understandable if you want your character to be a demon but having purple-blue with red in it, isn't really realistic. A color like that doesn't exist unless you're trying to say the eye color is black. But if you plan to use unusual colors, ask yourself if the character your creating really needs it. There's nothing wrong with picking a normal, plain color like brown or black. There are too many stories where majority of the characters have blue, red or some other color eyes. However, if you want to make your character seem unhuman (even if the fandom you're using contains nothing supernatural) you can always have them wear color contacts (if contacts exist in that fandom).

Hair color: With hair color you have to also decide the length and style it's in. Depending on your character you want, you should choose a color that's going to go with your story and fandom. I only suggest that if the fandom contains a lot of blonde people, don't make your character blonde as well. Just like in Naruto where a couple of them are blonde like Ino, Temari, Naruto, Yondaime, etc. Try for a normal color that isn't seen a lot, like light or dark brown. Or if you want some uniqueness maybe a purple color? Then you can decide the length and style you want it. But for the length think wisely, because you don't want a character to have long hair when they aren't old enough to have grown it to that length. Another thing, the climate. If they are in the desert or in really hot areas why would they have really long hair (unless it's a part of their national background/culture, like in ancient Egypt)? And lastly, the style your character's hair is in. You decide if their hair is wavy, straight, in a pony tail, pig tails, braided, in a bun, curly, spiked up or not. Just be sure to make a good choice. If your character has a long, braided, pony tail, your readers will be wondering why a bad guy hasn't used it to their advantage (of course depending on the fandom).

Skin color: Does your character come from an area that is hot and the sun is close? If they do then their skin color is on tan or on the dark side. If your character hardly is out in the sun, then they have a much lighter skin tone. If they are always inside a house, then they are most likely to be pale. And the pale skin tones are the ones that get sunburn easily if they are out for too long, so keep that in mind. I've started watching Cyborg 009 again. Gosh that show so rox as much, if not more, than G Gundam. I've been re-watching a lot of my childhood favorites and they haven't let me down

I was disappointed a little when I found to my dismay that I wasn't tall enough to reach Keller's head, so I had to pat his back in stead. Jason, the boy before me (we were all in the last row and it just so happened that Miranda, Jason, me, and Justin were the first four in that order to get our diplomas from that last row) pulled out a light saber and walked across stage with it. People got a kick out of it.

When I walked across the stage, I could definitely hear my dad and his brother Steve. Josh said he yelled, too, and my sis said she screamed as loud as she could even though she didn't have a voice. Miranda and Nikki, my two best friends, also cheered for me. It was quite fun. Also, we didn't really pay too much attention to the speeches. We all sat in the back messing around. My friend Justin, who is in the army but came back to graduate, was teasing me, and I in turn teased Jason, who was reading.

Miranda ( ) did an AMAZING job singing Bridge Over Troubled Water, a song that the senior choir had to perform. Except she's a little bitch and hid behind some kid in a white dress (XDDD). All in all it was a blast. Minus Bret, who kept blaring a horn in our ears, and Christian in front of him. That part sucked.

We also had a moment of silence for Amber Kotwitz (I don't know if I spelled that right, and if I didn't, I'm really sorry), who died two days into our sophomore year in a car accident.

Both of my grandmothers were able to make it, and both kept trying to stop me to take pictures. I'll see if I can put some up later... Sometime... It was awesome. I gave the two very special seats up closer than the rest to my little sister and my favorite uncle, who is five years older than me and more a brother to me than an uncle. Steve brought his youngest daughter with him, and it was her birthday as well. So my graduation cake was her cake for the day.

I got seventy dollars yesterday just for graduating (from my grandmothers) and awesome cards from Josh, Mamaw, and Steve. Two of them sang; one was just sarcastic-funny.

After all of that, we went to project Grad were I mostly did nothing. I gambled with fake money that they gave us for fun, and stayed there for hours. My feet were hurting after that. I had watched Rock band before that with all the kids playing it, but I've never even played guitar hero and wouldn't give it a try. Too stupid to do in front of other kids, since I have a tendency to make an ass of myself when I have fun (I'm one of those people who never stops).

I also played pool with some friends, which I haven't played in 5-7 years, and wound up with my sister's best friend wanting to play one on one. We didn't get to, but I play pool extremely well (I can visualize where the ball will go by lines in my head if I hit it in certain places. Lay said that I should have physics...) I can see that if I hit the ball just right which way it will go and, judging on how hard I hit it, if it will go in. Comes with drawing, I guess. >>

In any case, Laser Tag was broken (darn XD). They brought over a hypnotist. It was funny, but I still don't believe in any of it. It only works if you believe in it when you go up. My friend Justin pulled off his shirt when they said the kids would be Americas top models and they had to impress them. That alone was okay, though I didn't want to see it. But he took the next step and pulled down his pants, much to the dismay of the audience.

The guy was kind of bitches to the kids though. They were acting like they were watching horror movies, and when he brought up "the scariest movie they had ever seen," the kids all started flopping out hardcore. Alex started using profanity and trying to hide his face in Justin's shoulder (awwwww! XD).

In the end, at six am, I got cranky and started getting pissed that we couldn't leave, and when we did, I got home, peed, and then passed out on my bed until 11 something.

Anyway, there may be a few times that I will be unable and chapters will be late. So, I will start myself off with 3 late passes. I'll have to use one for a late chapter. For every three months, I will gain one if I turn each story of those months in on time.

I got to see my cousins today. I don't remember half of what we talked about, but it was fun and we laughed most of the time. The easter egg hunt for all the younger children was fun. My sis, the oldest of my cousins and I had to hid the eggs ;D

I believe that I'm being used by an online friend. No, screw that- not think, know.

I HATE HOUSE! No, not because she likes it (as she so kindly tried to tell me about a couple days ago). I don't respect doctors. They almost killed me and my little sister when we were little. I don't like the show at all.

Now, I have a friend who is OVERREACTING to a character death, acting like he was her freaking brother or something. Normally, I wouldn't care. I have TRIED being nice and politely saying "Can we please talk about something else" several times, and all she does is keep on like she's a little god and I must obey everything she says.

I'm NOT allowed to talk about quite a few things that I like, but by hell, I'm NOT allowed to request that SHE stop talking about some things as well. I'm so agitated right now that I'm stressed and having little trembling right now. Shivers, I guess, but I'm not cold, so...

Also, I have explained to my sister about what is going on and she laughed at first and told me "Wow, you're being nicer than usual." Then she got pissed and flat out told me that she knows from experience that I should just tell this kid (I am NOT saying who so don't ask me) to "Shut the fuck up." Now, I don't use that word very often, so that shows you just how SICK AND TIRED of this bullshit that I am. And I intend to start using that simple phrase every time she brings up house from now on.

On top of all of this, she just wrote a poem about some stupid doctor who committed suicide on house (shocking right? The largest group of people who commit suicide are doctors ). Do you know what I said? I said "cool" in the poems comments. That's not good enough for her since "It's not cool it's sad."

ARGGGGGGGGH!

I try to help the little jerk-off and it bites me in the ass! But now I see that my little sister is right. We've both seen that she's JUST like me when I was a kid, and I just wouldn't be helped. I wouldn't have it; it would have demolished my pride, I guess.

Could somebody tell me if I'm wrong for doing all of this? Cause I think I'm being fair asking her to talk about something we both like, but apparently not. >>

Also, for those who may want to know, Graduation for my school is set for May 22-- we get out and have only half day the 15th onward.

As for me, I'm super excited *add gay sling of the hand here* to be graduating (and about the joke, I truly have nothing against gays. Some of my best friends are gays/lesbians/bisexuals). So, yeah.

But then, I also have to get a job this summer and prepare for college.... So there, again, my time is still taken. Damn... >>

Oh well. I'm finally going to be able to get some money and learn about the responsibility that no one here cares to teach me D: (then again, they DO try sometimes... I'm just a little asshole, I guess D; )

Soon, he is convinced that he's living in a dream-- and even the king must obey him! What kind of trouble will he get into, and how will he get out of uncomfortable situations? The story progresses as Damion, the boy, grows.

2) Shattered Hearts is about four boys (a human boy who is trying to find elven blood in him, a trained assassin boy with several scared memories, a schizophrenic boy on a quest of revenge against his mother, and a young child searching for his father's mercenary group) on a journey to find themselves and end a rising threat of war. They must go through many challenges to find their families. All about tactics, war, and a little bit of romance. Three books have been planned in advance for this one.

So far, only one person has voted because I asked her specifically.

No, really. When I was in eighth grade (just before Naruto came out) I would always play with my friends about those characters. In our games (or role playing, really) they were older and had kids that we tormented. Especially with gay sayings such as "Marie Louise is Mac and Cheese" I remember that, and really, it shouldn't be funny anymore, but the thought of us saying that brings a fit of chuckles on XD
