Here we go, a slightly less photo infected journal entry due to the fact I will die if I try uploading lots of photos. Bit of a bother because I still mean to upload the Forsinard photos to my explorer website but I’ll get there eventually.

Anywho, I be back now for the summer.
I’ll start at the beginning and get back to the present shortly. Lets see, flew down to Gatwick and did the ol’ smile and look pathetic trick on a woman who very kindly chatted to me and made sure I got on the right flight. Met my Dad, slept on the couch….lots of revision then up at 5am for a two hour drive to Cambridge then an hour revising in the car and exams at 9am.
That was on Tuesday and we’d gone to the pub for pub grub on Sunday, mentioning it because there were two free masons chatting opposite us and an old chap came in (escaping a puzzle of the queen mother he said) and they welcomed him politely into their conversation. Just was very nice to see.

Where was I, oh yes. After Monday it was Tuesday off and then a single exam on Wednesday morning. Thursday, Friday and Saturday were free so I revised on Thursday, went shopping in Reading on Friday in the afternoon (got some more books to lug around and some chocolate. Chocolate shops are my downfall) and collapsed with sore feet. Saturday was London day, dragged my Dad to the National Portrait Gallery and then was dragged in turn to the British Museum. Great stuff.



Monday was three hours of…English literature where a cardinal rule was broken. Someone who’s name turned out to be Zoe actually spoke to me! We usually all mill around looking nervous. She struck up a conversation and we had a nice chat about the study notes we were using and how the typo on one of the names had thrown us both. Wednesday was three hours of language and then we drove back on Saturday…
Hmm, missed out something there. Bah, might’ve been Thursday actually. I can’t remember.

Back at home it was more revision and the pirates movie. We all dressed up as pirates and I really loved the film. Love, love, love me hearties!



Flew back down to Gatwick last Tuesday to stay over at my Grandparents in London. Afternoon exams on Wednesday and then the highlight of it all.
Three guesses where I went that evening:



OMG. It was so freakin’ awesome! We ended up dashing through Leicester square after we checked the discount ticket office and they were sold out. The box office had them so we bought out tickets and the stopped off at the merchandise store (T-shirt, pen and a poster). Made out way to the grand circle upstairs and found our seats.

The stage was all made up for the first scene (the auction scene) and my Mum whispered to me “I hope they take all those sheets off before it starts!”. Hehehee, I got to be a phantom snob and explain at this point. Got chatting to two Americans next to us who were doing a tour of Europe and had just decided to see the movie. I thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend, turned out they were brother and sister and she was only 14! Gees, she seriously looked 20 or sommat…

Anyway, production started and like, wow. The overture started and all the sheets came off and the lighting lit up. It was really impressive. I can’t begin to compare it to the movie. They’re too alike and so different at the same time. The theatrical effects are more…magical in the theatre but still. Raoul was fab. The phantom was slightly creepy, much more like a guy who murders people and watches girls in their dressing room. Yes, I admit, I was ever so slightly blinded by Gerard Butler…

Christine’s voice was all warbly. Didn’t like it as much and the phantom’s went a bit funny when he went high but all in all still fabulous. The scene when they descend into the lair was fantastic, gotta love that dry ice.

Curtain calls are something you don’t get in the cinema (obviously) and it was lovely to see the cast come out to applause. Raoul had a super grin on his face and the phantom got a standing ovation (he might’ve been grinning, couldn’t really see because he had his mask on again).
