band camp was last week. it was fun. we probably could had learned the entire show's drill if we werent rained out all week. even so, we learned the drill to anyway you want it and dirty deeds done dirt cheap. and since we were forced inside for the most part, we memorized all of our music. this is honestly the easiest drill we ever had to do. i remember last year the drill for the first song was 32 pages. one of the songs had 40 something pages as drill. anyway you want it was only like... 13. :\\ and dirty deeds was 4. we dont even march in back in black, we're jammin' DD

so anyways, band camp was fun. senior pictures were scheduled during band camp, but papa (band director) rescheduled it just for the band kids (although theres only 27 seniors) thats a lot of seniors actually. thats probably the most seniors we have had for years. and the band performance was great. lol. i fell in anyway you want it as i was backward marching. lol. it was great.

anyways, i added a picture of the front of the brassline tshirts. im pretty sure this is the one that will be used. :]
i like the design. hehe.
at first i was worried the guys might think its too feminine but then i remembered they're band kids and it doesnt matter. haha
and i was right. they all approved it and agreed to buy that design. so victory for moi!

oh and i also remade the spartan emblem. i might upload it sometime. and i also did a band of silver coat of arms thing.
it looks pretty badass if i dont say so myself. hahaha.

but anyways school is starting next week. this is my last carefree week!! DDDD:!!

-im going to start on going back to drunkduck. lazy ass that i am, lets hope i wont quit again.

-found out i made 3rd chair bassoon in the district ix symphonic honor band. normally id be happy, but my score isnt high enough for me to audition for all state band. which sucks.

-made it to the audition round for governor's honors. so, on feb ill be in some high school in georgia auditioning against geniuses.

-is addicted to facebook.

-christmas came and went. we just basically celebrated mom's birthday since its on the same day. fruit cake is delicious. but red velvet is better.

-i drew christmas presents for my friends irl and for a few i met here. amazing i know. not gonna upload them until the day school starts. that way itll be fair for everyone. lol.

-realizing that i've been neglected using the tablet so starting to get used to it... slowly.

-bought A Thousand Splendid Suns, Cien Anos de Soledad, La Cabana (with the thingy over the n), and Crime and Punishment.

-looking for a bassoon audition piece.

-thinking i wanna join the jazz band. but i dont have my trombone since ernie lost it. :\ oh well. ill use the school one til then. but i guess thatd mean id have to audition for jazz band.

I also havent replied to my messages and comments for a while and it's not because i dont have time, altho that is one of the reasons, but because it takes a really really really long time for the page to load ever since they switched to this new layout.

OK. Lessee. Band Camp is awesome. I love it. lol.
I feel sorry for the rookies, they really are being used by the seniors. Monday was pretty easy. The seniors all had these pacifiers around their necks, and they would give it to a freshmen if the freshmen complained too much and they had to put it in their mouth the entire day. They're doing the pacifier thing all week. On Tuesday, the Seniors did this Zoo with the rookies, where each rookie is assigned an animal, and everytime a senior calls that rookie's name, they have to say/act out that animal. My bro got a Toy Monkey. and they have him those little finger cymbals and they tied a red cup to his head. hilarious. he was obviously the band's favorite rookie. Not only that, but they finally started on the Rookie Dance. It's amazing. Schuster said he's going to videotape it when we all perform on Friday, so i really can't wait. It rained in the afternoon, right when we were about to go outside again after lunch and sectionals. It rained really really really hard. The Rookies were happy. The Vets werent, because that meant we cant learn drill and we'll be horrible come friday. besides, as strange as it sounds, learning drill and playing while at it is fun.

today's the band officer's cookout at Ernie's house(ourBD). i didnt go. mainly becuase im too tired to go swimming. brooke was angry when i told her i wasnt going. she gave me the evil death glare. lol.

we learned a lot of drill. i memorized all my music. it wasnt so hard, and it was a lot easier to memorize it when im marching. weird, i kno. our first song is 26 pages of drill. not so bad. we made it to page 20 already, along with the band overall memorizing the first two songs. we found out there's like.. 8 holes because those guys are dingbats who quit band. so it took A LOT of rewriting, but the drill looks really good. there's a hella alot of soloes in this show. there's THREE trumpet soloes in all, each of the senior trombones gets to have a solo at least once the entire season, i got a little solo thingy, but it's not so big, i have to accompany the trumpet on the first number. not to mention the 100 measures of percussion break full of percussion awesomeness. : O!!! so yea, i cant wait for school to start. x]

this year we're getting 20 new teachers. idk why, maybe it's because of IB, but it's strange to get 20 new teachers when NONE retired. or quit. or got fired. oh well. but President Jackie wants us to play for the noobs on monday. that's nice, but the fight song is impossible. why? it's the hardest fight song ever since it is really fast and is in a really funky key that even the ppl that graduated still agrees their college's fight songs are easier. and we NEVER play it since the football team NEVER scores. lol. but oh well. the freshmen can tacit. lol. i cant wait for them to see the stands tunes. i swear, we have a lot of those. too much sometimes, since we dont play all of it, yet everyone knows it by memory. lol. i remember last year noel had a giant binder he brings to class and it was full of stands tunes and nothing else. not even room for concert music. that's a LOT of stands tunes. a lot. but it's still amazing. this year i hope we play Rock Lobster. lol. we havent played that for years. And Crocodile Rock. I like Vehicle the best tho. Tom Wallace is a frigg'n band god. xDD

Summary:
Bertha is a normal loser. That's simple. She lives in the real world and attend this really good school only because the founder of the school is a close relative of her Mom, who passed away after giving birth to Mikey, her brother. Her musical ability is mediocre at best, but for some strange reason, she was the only one accepted into the Universal Summer Marching Band worldwide. It is a big event because the USMB will attend the worldwide marching competition for the first time in a hundred years. Last time the band attented, they won flat out, so they're expected to get the crown this year too. However, upon recieving the letter of acceptance, Bertha, along with members of her school's band program, are starting to rethink the USMB's chance at victory this time around.
When she finally gets to the band, strange things happen and it seems, there might be an even bigger reason as to why the band is joining the competition this year and why Bertha, the worse Tubaists ever known to mandkind, is involved.

how, well, i just came up with a storyline.
this is how it happened.

i was writing another draft for this story i was doing and then i thot how boring it was getting (i can never concentrate long enough to to complete one task) so i stopped writing for a while and went to this song i was arranging and after writing in a few more measures i though it was getting boring, so i sat down and visited my website which i havenn't updated for a while and when i was there i realized that the whole year i aspent experimenting different styles and creating weird ones was really interesting and some of the art styles were interesting too but then i thot "i need to update it" so i tried drawing something, the i gave up because it got boring, so i just did nothing for a while, then out of the blue a great idea came up and now i'm in a rush to put it all down before i forget.

it's gonna be a comic, but the art style won't be the same throughout for a reason and it's gonna be about band, loads and loads of band. and then there might be somethign about myths and stuff... yea... it's a really good idea. lol. i'm still sketching and doing rough drafts but so far, it's going well.

when i get at least ten pages done (drawing wise) i will upload. :]

and that rookie camp is going fine
although i hope the freshmen will grow up.

This month is the last month in school. YES! and since it is, it is extremely busy (for band and art). We just had our spring concert last Tuesday and I think we totally rocked. It was fun. Seriously. If I ever find anyone who videotaped it, i'll upload it on youtube. If not, i'll just upload an audio.
Then Yesterday, I took my AP test for AP US History. Dang. It was insane. but me and my friends had fun the last few minutes of the test, so we were the only ones who left the room in good spirits. Lol.
What else. Oh yea, and Monday will be the Solo and Emsemble Competition. I'll be playing a bassoon solo and yea. I have no choice in that matter because I was forced to. lol.
The Tuesday will be the Band Awards and Banquet Reception Night. Where the band people get awards, get a fancy dinner, and etc. Yep.
If course there's Pass Offs until the last day of school for everyone who aren't Seniors. Pass Offs are where we play our scales as finals. You play at least one scale a day. Concert band plays 8 scales and their chromatic. The Symphonic Band plays 12 scales and their Symphonic. I'm just glad he isn't making us play the both minors for each scales while he's at it.
Then on the 24th is graduation. The BD's son's graduating so he wants us to make a huge impression (cuz a lot of his relatives are coming who've never heard the band play before). I don't mind but I HATE Pomp and Circumstances. Seriously. Elgar may be a bassoonist, but WHY did he have to make that song?! The Occasional Suite by Haydn is fine cuz we're just playing the march 50 billion times. And then we're playing Bonds of Unity and then, show casing the band seniors, we're playing The Witch and The Saint. I love that song<3

Then a week after school is over is Rookie Camp. You can guess the two other camps that follow rookie camp (Percussion camp and Band Camp).

And that's all. Not much this month, but enough to tire a body out.



I'm just glad that my APUSH test is over with. YES!!!

I'm not a genius, but I still want to give it a shot.

This year, I've competed against so many talented musicians, became friends with a great deal of them, and secretly proclaimed some to be my rivals.

At the district band auditions, it was where I first realized that even geniuses will have to work at their best just so they can have a chance at making it. I'm still pretty upset that I let a freshmen steal 2nd chair from me... But it's ok. Because he may be better at technical skill, I've a better tone and a much more serious player than him, so I'll kick his ass next time.

And then, there's Governor's Honors. I am glad I even made it to the second auditions. But next year, will be so much different than this year's because since then, I've improved a lot more, so Martin, Dakota, Cirilo, you guys better watch out because although you've all made it in GHP, I'll try out for the Atlanta Youth Symphony and show you just how good I am.

When I first entered the GHP practice room, I tried my best to not turn back around and run out. Those people are all... amazing. It's frightening. I know I've managed to scare a few oboeist an sax players later on in that room by playing my solo by memory, but it was all I can do to force myself to stay inthat one room, and so, I played. I practiced for several hours in that room. Then finally, the bassoonists started arriving. I was there several hours early because I lived the farthest, and I'm glad i arrived earlier, because if I haven't had the time to calm my nerve down, I would had fainted when I saw Cirilo enter. I never knew him before, but I did a thorough research on every other bassoonist entering (I'm good at researching) and knew that Cirilo and Martin are both members of the Atlanta Youth Symphony. Martin attends Lassiter High which is a highly renowned high school and won several national musical merits. Cirilo attends Riverwood and will also present a challenge. He was the one I was more scared of.

I did so badly in the audition. Heh. I didn't think the sightreading was that difficult. It was in the Key of A Major. The other in D Major. The rhythm were simple: mainly 16th note runs with random rests thrown all over. The tempo was too fast for sightreading. It was quarter notes = 98 beats. Crazy.

And my solo, which I practiced so hard on, shaped it so well so that Corelli's style is still distintive along with my own personal flair, went down the drain. I did so well at first, then in the last few bars, I started dying. The Allegretto sections were no longer Allegretto; the Vivice of it started turning Grave. D: And to make it worse, I just died the last measure. I couldn't finish out the Fermata. I didn't even attempt the Vibrato which I spent over a year learning.

I hated the performance.
It was the worst I've ever done.
I've even done better at that sightreading at home.

Then, music theory.
It was evil.
Made me wish I hadn't quit chorus so early on.
Basically testing your memory and your tonal hearing.
I hated that test.
But I would rather take it twice than to relive the audition again.

And I screwed up in the interview too.
He caught me off guard and I had to AbLibb a section which I regretted as soon as I said it. If I make it there again, I will tell him what I should had said. The truth.

This year has been a year of musical enlightenment for me.
I've been through more ups and downs this year than when I went out with my now ex.
This year has been a fun year.
And next year, I'll make it count.
I'll work harder.
In IB.
In Band.
In School.

Hopefully, I'll get a job as a music tutorer at the music store this summer.
If not, then I'll give free music lessons for the upcoming freshmen.
Along with designing T shirts for the band.
Hehe.
I'm in charge of the Trombone Shirts next year. :]
I'm going to personally make it.
And If it is well received, I'll have the student council commitee from having the graphics department from designing the school shirts (because the graphics department SUCKS).

Well, time to practice.
I've got an upcoming concert, a solo, and a duet to practice for!

BTW, The CD for My district band performance came.
I blame the clarinet for the sqeaks. It wasn't that bad in the performance. But the mics picked it up and amplified it.

idk. i had a really good weekend and i'm still in a pretty good mood. haha.
like.. friday, i went to a physics convention, then me and four seniors randomly decided to go to walmart at 8:30pm, so we did and we just goofed off and were stupid the entire time. we tried having all five of us link arms and skip around, but that wasn't sucessful. and we were looking for lightbulbs in the tire sections. o0'' yea, smart us. then we freaked out about harry potter for no special reason. haha. and we played hide and seek in walmart. woosh!
and saturday, i didn't go to shane's party though, pretty upset about that. haven't seen them for years. frigg'n miss them)': but my aunt did come over and we went on a shopping spree. i bought quite a lot of clothesfrom aeropostale. haha. and then caroused through best buy and played with the electonics. lol. i ditched mollie for guitar hero. haha. the fun. then we tried to find sam, but we got lost... lol. then we got lost in sam. yea. me and my aunt are so smart. 8]
And sunday, i caught up with as much of the art project as i could. i din't finish the tertiary colors, but idc. i'll get it done soon.
and today, i'm just in a pretty good mood. we had practice today in band. it was pretty bad b/c we couldn't hear him at all, so yea.. but it was fun. and retarded. brad held his trombone so hard his hand was purple and it looked like it was bruisedO: poor brad. haha. i kept poking it. he said it didn't hurt tho. haha.
and during hey!baby! me and mollie were singing the chorus part across the band room to each other. it was great fun. i remember last semester when people would freak out at that part because it goes "hey! hey baby! i wanna knoooow! if you'll be my girl~" if the girls should change it to guy. but most people didn't care. i could care less. and it's fun turning around to random band members and singing it to them. haha.

so yea. it was pretty fun.

except josh moncada told everyone i'm a cheater because i gave zach 999master balls and 999 rare candies. i only gave it to zach b/c i had them from a friend and i didn't need them. D':
imma go and cry now. not really.
i'm still gonna win. i've got two teams at levels 90-100s
and one team that's 70-80. i can win this. haha.
plus i have a lot of shinies because everytime i would find a shiny pokemon, i would catch it and send it to my pokemon fire red and then pal park it to diamond. hecks yea.
i think i got like... almost two teams of shinies. seriously. like..
i got a riolu egg and it hatched.. and it was SHINY. SERIOUSLY. what are the odds to that? a million.. no gazillion to one? seriously. it's like... nearly impossible.

but anyways, chicago is gonna be AWESOME!

we're leaving on thursday at 8pm (that same day i'm going spelunking with my physics class!!! x])

then on friday, we're gonna go shopping and then we're gonna see WICKED!! OMG!! WICKED!!! WOOOTS! i just regret that it isn't the orignal cast. the original is AWESOME.

then on saturday we're going to the museum of science and industry and just run around being retarded then go see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra perform. Omg. They ROCK. seriously. The orchestras i have on my computer are the atlanta symphony orchestra and them. they rock.

the on sunday, we're gonig to a tour of chicago and seeing the wrigley field and the sears tower! then we're watching... The BLUE MAN GROUP!! they are COOL. lol. when i told my brother, he was green with envy. seriously. haha.

then on monday, we're performing at the Field Museum. We're gonna rock. i just know it. then after that, we're going to run around the Field museum until the curator kicks us out. haha. then we're gonna go shopping again and just act stupid in the mall.

then we start going home. cuz we're cool like that. haha.

Of course, at festival, we were to perform right after the dinner break, so we went to get our instrument, and of all times, that's when Noel and his stupid self decide to start drama. He should had just shut his fat ass or I'll shove his trombone in it. He starts threatening Brittany and calling her a whore and a traitor and starts saying shit about her BF who goes to Johnson (which is our rival school). Obviously, the whole band found out. Jacki went and told Mr P but does Ernie do anything? NO. He just ignores Jacki. And right after all this, we had to go warm up. For some ungodly reason, we all warmed up an hour early, so Ernie gives us a break and everyone was still pissed at people because the drama was still fresh in our minds. It was STUPID. I sit right next to Noel in band and I wanted so hard to kick his ass, but I didn't. I'll wait til he graduates THEN kick it.

Then we performed. We did perfect on the Crosley March. We even did good in Out of Darknes. However, everything went downhill on The Witch and The Saint and that's our BEST song. The song was an accident waiting to happen becuase it was chopped full of solos. The oboe had a solo, the trombones, the timpani, the bassoon, the clarinet and bari sax had a duet, the flutes, and wesley played the french horn and bass clarinet parts along with the baritone part on his baritone. It was all little things. But the little things added up and eventually, it just cascaded. Every single section messed up. Everyone messed up in places we ain't ever messed up before and never thought it possible. The Clarinets messed up in the one place that EVERYONE would notice. Wesley couldn't play a part for some unearthly reason. The trombones messed up in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR SOLOS. Thanks a lot Noel. Josh Shubert messed up on HIS solo and he's the only one that plays there. Josh Moncada messed up on his and he's the best trumpet player ever. Amber messed up in our Oboe and Bassoon duet and I had to effing help her out. Brandy couldn't get her bari sax to play on the Bari and Clarinet duet.
We were all dying a slow, painful, death.

Brandy asked me as we were leaving the stage how well we did. I said we'd been lucky if we got a II.

I hate it when I'm right.




The sightreading was easy shit. Everyone felt insulted. There weren't even SIXTEENTH notes. GAWD. It was like.. 5th grade stuff.

But we did really bad in the performance. We got II's overall. there were 7 categories from each judge. We got 3 A's and 4 B's from all of them. Even though afterwards Mr P said that those were the toughest judges he'd had since 1992 and that if we had any other panel of judges we'd get I's, I don't give a fuck. Even if we did get I's, I'd still had cried at the end. It sucked. Festival sucked.

In the entire District IX festival, those panel of judges only gave 4 bands I's OVERALL. Our Concert band was one of the only bands that got straight I's. I applaude them because they were really good. And my friends are all in there. The other bands that had overall I's got at least one II. I saw the chart.

I'm serious. If none of that shit had happened, then we could had gotten a I. Our scores were borderline I to begin with.

Damn you Seniors.
When I'm a senior, I'm so gonna do a better job than you guys have ever been.
I will make sure we NEVER get a II.
I won't treat the underclassmen like shit.
