Posting a press release for a partner for like-minded MMO ADiKs! ^^

In an unprecedented industry move, e-Games Philippines, touted as the first free to play gaming and community portal in the country to encompass multiple game genres from Casual to MMORPG, has set January 24, 2006 for the simultaneous open beta launch of its three debut titles, 02 Jam, RAN Online and Battle Position.

The tri-open beta launch is a curious move considering most game publishers often prefer to highlight one game at a time. However, Steve Tsao, COO of e-Games, is confident each of their games will be able to stand on its own. "We are launching these games at once because they cater to different customers (O2Jam/ RAN/ BP), and we want to create a big impact and have the largest community."

Tsao pointed out that each of their games have had proven track records in highly-competitive, battle-tested international markets, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia. "Our games are AAA titles, no doubt. O2Jam is the most popular online music game in the world. And RAN Online is the most popular item purchase-based MMORPG of its kind. They have beaten the competition consistently because of better game play and content, and we are optimistic they will carry over here."

Despite the increasingly competitve online gaming market, e-Games CEO Enrique Gonzalez believes that "this is a situation where supply will drive demand. New content will attract new players and will drive the industry upwards. This is a good development for the Philippine gaming industry."

Added Tsao, "We have tremendous respect for our competition, and hope that all of us combined can accelerate the growth of this industry."

According to Gonzalez, the date also holds some karmic value. "The date itself is very fortuitous," he cited. "January 24 is close to the Chinese New Year, marking a new year and a new beginning for Philippine Gaming. On January 24, Free to Play is born."

All three games can be accessed at e-Games homepage at [link].

I noticed that while I spent the rest of the day fixing the list, and had most of the people I knew on my watch list, only a handful of deviations came in. Must be a slow day (or the middle of the night/morning on the other side of the globe...)

Found some interesting bit of info too, like some inter-DA drama, account theft, banned people I've been stalking, and so on and so forth. My have I been away that long?

Anywho, I post @ my blog more now. And as usual, I don't pay for any subscriptions to anything yet. We'll see what happens this year.

Check out YEHEY! eCards by the way. It's at open beta stage, and you'll recognize some of our local artists on that thing!
Right now however, I want to share with you some funny little email snippets I got from Juli. Hilarious!

---------------------------------------- -
Elementary, My Dear Watson
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson go on a camping trip, set up their tent, and fall asleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes his faithful friend.

"Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

Watson replies, "I see millions of stars."

"What does that tell you?"

Watson ponders for a minute. "Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Timewise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

Holmes is silent for a moment, then speaks. "Watson, you idiot, someone has stolen our tent."

---------------------------------------- -
Man of Her Dreams
Susan was in her late thirties and still not married. She just had a hard time meeting men. And the men she did meet all ended up to be jerks. Finally, she decided to place an ad in the personals in the newspaper.

She wrote: "Looking for a man who won't beat me, won't leave me, won't look at other women and is excellent in bed."

Several days went by and she hadn't gotten a single call. Then, one day she was doing her laundry when she heard her doorbell ring. She went to answer it and, as she opened the door, she saw a blind man in a wheelchair with no arms and no legs. "Can I help you?" she asked.

He said, "I am the man of your dreams!"

She was baffled. She said, "Excuse me?"

"I read your personal ad in the paper and I am the perfect man for you."

The woman incomplete shock then exclaimed, "but you have no arms!"

"I have no arms, therefore I cannot beat you." the man replied.

"And you have no legs!" she exclaimed again.

"I have no legs, so I can never leave you." he answered.

"How could you be the man of my dreams, you cannot even see?" she said sounding exasperated.

"I cannot see therefore I will not look at other women or fool around behind your back." he smiled.

The woman thought for a second more and then asked, "But are you good in bed?"

And with a sly grin he replied, "How do you think I was able to ring your doorbell?"

I do have my moods though, and sometimes like when I first started in DA, I can go for hours just browsing and browsing... my internet at home is too slow for my tastes... and it's starting to piss me of because I run out of time cheking out everybody!

Since I've been so out of it, I guess I'll have to virtually start over. My groups don't know I exist, some of my DA aqcuaintances no longer log in, and I'm afraid that if I start to get active again, I'll get into another slump and just... *poof*

So this will be like my Return of the Comeback Part 2... expect to see more updates. Probably as regular as my Multiply account.

I am however never going to be out of this lot, so this is the first icon in my journal, as always... Proid to be ~ noypi

EDIT: I am fixing my friendlist... sorting and stuff... since I am O.C. when it comes to that... si if my name comes up again as adding you to my list... well that's probably what's happening... YEY!

Not even sure if there is such a word. But I use it all the time... hehehehe. Hmm... must check the dictionary for specifics.

Found it!

Deviance noun The condition of being abnormal:
aberrance, aberrancy, aberration, abnormality, anomaly, deviancy, deviation, irregularity, preternaturalness, unnaturalness.

Ok, it sounds a bit unnatural and insulting to be called abnormal… but it sounds much cooler to be called a deviant. Hehehe

And that’s what happened Saturday afternoon. Pinoy Deviants got together for a little quality time together, and shared their tips, skillz and deviations with each other. It was a lot of fun, even if that “pleasant guard“ kept pestering us to leave, it was still alright. You could tell there was so much talent around and so much enthusiasm to create amazing things out of nothing, because in every corner of the DevMeet, you’d see people digging in to each other’s work, sketching samples and drafts, talking about all things related.

Hopefully, the next time we meet we’ll be in a more conducive venue. I’ve already offered our office and multi-purpose board room to ~popazrael and ~minsan, so the next time we decide to have a workshop for all those budding artists, we’ll have a decent place to work in, and no security manongs to breathe down our necks.

It was great seeing the real faces behind the fabulous Deviations on DA. Maybe now we can get more people to come out in the future, and maybe have a bigger even exclusively for Deviants and Deviance.

I uploaded pictures in my Multiply photo album. Check out how wacky and weird some of the artists are… hehehe

Aliens vs Predator, scmhedator... a review

I should have figured it out from the start. What with a cheesy tagline like “Whoever Wins, we lose” and a lousy acronym for its title, I should’ve read the context clues and immediately determined that it would be a waste of time and money.

AVP, or so aptly named, Aliens vs. Predator (or better yet, Agonizing and Vituperatively Painstaking), was a masterpiece in failure. The story was so poorly constructed and full of obvious loopholes and lapses in character, and the action was only interesting enough to be gory.

I mean, the idea that these pyramids where these battles were conducted to initiate a predator-being into warriorhood came from ancient civilizations is completely, and nonsensically farce! I mean, if the Aztecs and the Egyptians and the what was the other ancient civilization came together to build these things to “revere” the predator race, wouldn’t it have come up in some form of ancient text? Wouldn’t it have at least been like some sort of theory or long-held superstition by the archeologists that came with the expedition?

I mean, it tried to be interesting by mixing and matching “specialists” from different fields of study, like a super genius bio chemist or something, to a world-renowned archeologist to a skilled ice expedition trekker-slash-guide… but the character development and background story (not to mention each character’s involvement in the progression of the story itself) was so lacking that it failed to fill the lapses in the story and kept me wanting so much more.

I mean come on… they did establish that the archeologist dude was well-versed in ancient text... but they themselves said that the writings and hieroglyphs in the place were from the three different civilizations… and the guy could read it all and thus give away the whole plot in one sitting… gee-zus what the hell was the director thinking?!

I admit, seeing Aliens battle it out with the Predators was very cool, but everytime the movie came back to the characters it just reeked of unprofessional screenplay writing. I mean, even if I was an idiot with an IQ of a 2 year old buffalo named Bubbles I’d still think the story was stupid!

The one thing that could’ve made my day was seeing Lance Henriksen do something cool versus the Aliens, thus establishing his foothold as the model for a new line of cybernetic human beings for the future… namely a Cyborg named Bishop. They only hinted that he was the father of robotics by showing, for a split second mind you, a magazine on robotics with his face on the cover and the heading reading something like this dude is the revolutionary new robotics whatchamacallit.

I mean, it even lacked romance… which is essential for a B movie action flick… it could’ve drawn more crowds if maybe the other characters that died immediately showed their boobs or something. Call me chauvinistic, but Hollywood’s losing its touch with the testosterone-driven, male-dominated market for action flicks.

In sum, AVP failed to even pique my interest. The story was wholly predictable and completely implausible, the cast, entirely blasé, and the action, uninterestingly ho-hum. It had its few movie moments, like when the bio chemist dude was already entangled and then the things started to you know… (hehehe… no spoilers here folks, sorry!)… well, that was a moment built for the B movie history books. But even the action sequences which humiliatingly and pathetically tried to John Woo-slash-Matrix its way into extravagance, flopped miserably and only made it look like a cheap photocopy of an already overused original.

I only rank it at 2 stars because, mercifully, it comes with a Hollywood ending (complete with twist and that tried-and-tested formula of leaving you with more excitement, or a bad taste in your mouth, which ever comes first), it showed some awesome cloaking special effects and brutally effective weapons and high class alien-predator gore, and lastly, because Lance Henriksen was in it.

In the end, I am left with only Bishop’s final words to Ripley… “Not bad for a human…” Not bad is right… it should actually be “terrible”, “lousy” and “garbage of a movie”!

P.S. If the director or the writer gets dragged out into the street and shot I won’t be at all surprised.

Ok. I admit. I watch the show. Nothing wrong with it right? But Maan and I were talking while we were watching it, and we started having a difference in opinion...

I said that Kyan Douglas, if he were straight, would be the hottest among the five. She thought Jay Rodriguez would be the hottest if he were straight. I disagree with her because Jay has a smaller frame than Kyan, and he has a really boyish smile. Kyan I think would've been a real chick magnet if he were straight--most probably like me if I were thinner and still single... hehehehe... But she says Jay's hotter because he's like the boy next door. Ah whatever... to each his/her own I guess.

Ok, just to clarify, I have no doubts about my masculinity (except in the office where all the guys act so gay around each other...) But watching this show, seeing how many things I actually know already... small things that they talk about, the small bits of advice for straight guys, especially at the end of the show... most of them I know already! I guess all these I can attribute to growing up with five sisters... hehehe.

The latest episode is of a rocker dude. They made him over real good... kinda like a bon jovi sasquatch. Hehehe... I say that because the guy was huge! His shoes were size 15s! But I loved the denim jackets and the leather pants they picked out for him... leather won't look and feel good in the Philippines though... but the black leather jacket they got him was awesome! Lupet! Papang-papa! AAAAYYY!

Ngayon si Maan nanonood na ng Hiram. Ayoko na. Alis na ko... hehehehe... I've gotta do some stuff for the office, and I've got to get down to putting together my Dad's death anniversary video. Yosi break muna... then time to work.

(My Blog is at [link])

...turned out to be a whole mix and match of ups and downs. Let me start... medyo long story so bear with me.

About the time when I wrote my last entry, and said that I was about to get ready, I was trying to send text messages to the rest of the boys for updates on the party. That was the time I ran out of load… no big deal really. So I decided to finish getting ready.

Then it began to rain really hard. Bad trip pero may magagawa ba ko? So I just continued getting dressed and thought, no big deal.

As I was finishing up, I suddenly remembered that I left my shoes in the car. Dammit. Why I brought them in the first place is another story. But basically, I had to get dressed and wear my slippers out to the car while it was pouring really bad. So here I was dressed in my party clothes, polo shirt and jeans and the jacket I borrowed from No (which I haven’t returned for the longest time) and the piece de resistance – my raggedy leather sandals! I even had to roll my pants up really high just to make sure my pants didn’t get too wet from the rain.

No big deal. But I’m already beginning to feel something in my gut, that something lousy may happen later in the night. But I brush it off as just another bout of morbid thinking or paranoia

No big deal.

So I go downstairs and make my way to the car parked up front and I come across this fat kid hanging around in the lobby. I put the jacket on top of my head and this loony fat kid starts to imitate me… puts his jacket on his head too and starts to walk alongside me. Hehehe… stupid kid.

Anyway, I get in the car, a bit soaked but more or less ok, and then ready myself to go. By this time the rain is pouring really hard, so hard that I cannot see more than a few cars away… and I have to buy load pa… by this time, I started getting morbid thoughts again… thinking, if I buy load now I might get into an accident later since it’s raining so hard… and then I’ll tell myself that if I hadn’t bought load earlier, I may not have gotten into an accident.

I decide to buy load along the way na lang. Less hassle. Kasi syempre, umuulan nang malakas, mababasa pa ko pag bumili ako from some store… so mas ok if I can find a better place to buy load, like say a gas station or something… para may shade din.

Halfway through the trip I begin to get the yosi jones. So kahit umuulan I decide to light one anyway… I check my pockets… no yosi.

No big deal. Umuulan na man eh. And I’ve an extra pack stashed in my knapsack.

I finally get to the gas station on C5, park over at the store—which was pretty empty I might add—and get in, buy my load, get back in the car.

Once in the car I start sending those delayed messages. Took me about 5 to 10 minutes all in all. By this time the rain had died down a little and the mart starts filling up with people. I look back to see if there’s a car, look left, look right, and start backing out.

By this time this guy starts running out of the mart, waving at me. I brake instantly. As I peer at the right side of my pick-up through the side mirror I see the nose of his almost brand new Toyota Altis… oh shit

To make a long story short (well this is already the peak of all the bad shit that happened to me that night anyway) instead of going to the police station, I just paid him for the inconvenience, which is all thanks to Laz by the way since I didn’t bring any money with me that night. Anyway, no damage to my vehicle, and he just got a paint scratch. It’s a good thing I was driving carefully the whole evening.

This is why I hate driving in the rain.

Maan’s party was a blast! I finally got there with no further incident and yeah we had so much fun. Maan got piss drunk, and just danced and danced and danced… which means I had to dance and dance and dance as well… so by 1AM I was so freaking tired and sweaty. Hehehe… but yeah we had lots of fun. Saying some of the boys couldn’t make it, so medyo bitin, but we were able to finish up the reserved bottles of beer for us… that was about 100 bottles I think. We only left about 5 bottles. Plus that bottle of tequila

Now I have a hangover. One hell of a hangover. Tequila does that to me—tequila is this superman’s kryptonite. But yeah I had one hell of a time, and Maan had so much fun with her friends. She just keeps asking me over and over again if me and my friends had fun or not and it’s beginning to irritate me… hehehe… ang kulit! Lasheng pa rin ata si Ma eh… hehehehe

Will post the party pics in a while… just have some errands to run, like return the beer bottles from my birthday party last month...

Masarap kumanta!

It's now 3:43 AM on Saturday, my head is slightly spinning, although the drive home definitely cleared it up some, but I can't leave my journal updateless... hehehe... if only I had this discipline for work. Actually, hmmm... it's not like I update this thing in a timely fashion anyway.

The day started out horribly, had to get a beating from my boss, which I rightly deserved anyhow, and then had to go through the day on a guilt trip because, even if I present so well to the board of directors, I know I'm still very much deficient in the discipline and attendance area... I guess some habits you take with you to your grave... and my habit of being a procrastinator and lazy ass tardy boy has never left me... I really need to work on it. Really. No more lates this year. Ever. *gulp*

Anyway, glad this party lifted all our spirits. Happy birthday Mike! Mamaya party na ni Maan... lasingan nanaman.. haaay... mamatay talga ako nang maaga nito.
I'm trying to keep it simple yet good looking... like me! Hehehehe...

I'm glad I posted my last artwork [link] lots of people like it so I'm glad.

I was also wondering, is it possible for me to post my deviations outside of devART? Like in my website? Can someone enlighten me on this? I mean, of course I plan on putting in the same description of my work as the ones in DA, and I will definitely make my site un-right-clickable... it's just that, are we allowed to do that, post it outside of DA even with the proper recognition?

Anyway, thanks for the faves everyone!

DevArt just took down majority of my new work... for being section violations or copyright violations. Just a few points I wish they took into consideration:

First, I credited the source. I may not have gotten express written permission from the photographer and such, but these were placed on public domain websites AND were even listed in the downloads categories of the sites... so how the hell am I supposed to ask for permission from material that's already available to the public in the first place?!

Second, even if I may have used images or photos that were not mine, but still publicly available through the internet, from all my gallery browsing in DA, I've always seen a number of people do the same thing, and yet they DO NOT mention where they got these images from. At least I have the decency to say which website I got it from and even add the link on the deviation.

Third, promo images are in fact images that are DISTRIBUTED FREELY. Those are the images that I have been using. In fact, with my work in our website, we use promo images ALL THE TIME. Either images that production companies and music companies really do give out as free materials for public display and redistribution--thus even without the express permission of the photographer, the production company, which OWNS the license for these images, allow us to USE the images as we see fit... and instances such as fanart creation and display on community-based websites is an ADDED bonus for them, since it becomes FREE PUBLICITY. So as the owner of the item in question, I would be GLAD that people spread my work around as added advertising.

I hate to be a bad egg especially in a time when copyright infringement crisis looms just around the corner, but sh*t like this just PISSES ME OFF. I worked my @ss off to make good stuff (well at least to my taste) so people who have the same interests and taste as me can aspire for something better, appreciate the work that I'm doing, and even offer criticism to help me better my craft.

I hate to say this but there are times when I feel DA is being unfair and a spoilsport. I admire the team that put together DA for their vision and strict enforcement of the rules, but come on people, some of these rules are too darn strict, and the person who enforced them was definitely unfair. They didn't even give me a chance to take them down myself. I miss logging on for one day and THIS happens.

They were talking about self moderation because people put up CRAP all the time, but what about those who really WORK to make better stuff? That's just bullsh*t man, and I hate to say this, but that really blows.

Maybe I'm just being too much of a prick... I hope DA admin read this and reply, so I can hear their side of the story, because I'm that kind of a person. I don't judge just because of some small thing and I certainly do not form conclusions after hearing only one perspective of the story. I'd like to know why there was no effort to reach out, when in fact this is a community based website, and that the admins should better serve the people who make their site work.

I love DeviantART because the place lets me express myself as an artistic individual, but if stupid little rules like this hinder me or everyone else from realizing their full potential, then F*CK THE SYSTEM! I never was a believer in established norms and regulatory bodies and it is EXACTLY this kind of behavior that shows why.

If you've read this far, then hooray for you. You've just heard my side of the story. To everyone else, F*CK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!
