Everything happens with time - so we are very close to the end of chapter 2 which sort of closes the arc of "flashback on the history of Ilandor and the pre-wedding eve" I gave it a good thought and finally decided to stop IE here. For multiple reasons. The first being that even though IE is an old story, it is very special to me and I definitely would like to see it in printed form someday, but only after having given it a lot more thought and work, scenario-wise. Thus, as it is, I feel that it served its purpose of getting me started with comics, improving my skills and just enjoying the time. But now I must move on to different things. Also, I feel that even though there are some of you who followed IE from the start or quite a long time (and I am so so very grateful to you all, especially those who so often took time to comment and encourage (you know who you are! ), but also those who just read it from week to week), with time the story did not gather that much attention - which confirms my feeling that a scenario is something important that should be taken seriously. So I shall draw a line there. But if you followed it and are reading this, I would really appreciate that you leave me a message - for after a year and a half of almost weekly adventure it would feel good to know that there are indeed people out there that have been reading it. This might seem silly, but no comment is ever too much or insignificant, so if you hesitate, just write a word because this is the only way for me to know that you exist.
But of course, this is not the end. I do hold a strong hope of coming back to IE later. As for the meanwhile, let it just be said that I am working on a new and very exciting project that is bigger than anything I have worked on so far and thus will take more time before I can show/tell you the results. But keep your eyes open - something good is brewing in Tacto's secret lab!
So see you next week for the last page of IE "Old Wounds" and please do write back to me to tell me what you thought of this adventure! It would really mean a lot.

Ok... I am back.. half dead!! XD
Sakuracon was a lot of fun and a really well organized con from what I saw. The Convention center is gorgeous and putting the Artist Alley in the Sky Bridge was a strike of genius, really. My table was right in the middle overlooking the Pike street diving in the sea. This was my second con total and the first that big. What to say? I had a lot of nice conversations (spiced by my ill-hoarse "Panthera" - singer voice..) and met some really nice people. All of IE copies sold out, much to my surprise, and almost the same amount of Dreamless copies as well, although I got a number of funny moments with that:
1) A 12-year old girl asking me what is BL
Me (croaking): err.. I think you're too young for this.. (the girl goes away offended, of course - no psychology when Tacto is ill.. XD)
2) A 18 year old guy asks me what BL is
Me: (still croaking): ..err.. I think it is more for girls.. (the guy goes away with a puzzled expression)
3) A 45 year old man asks me what BL is
Me (blushing): ...errr...you know.. boys with boys... sort of.. (the guy jumps away from the table making a cross sign (but at least he's laughing XD ))
4) A scary looking dad picks up a copy to look through, without asking anything
Me (thinking): please don't hit meeeee!!! XD;;;
Anyway.. ^^
One sort of sad observation I had was how difficult it is to promote original art (and especially comics) when most of the artists sell flashy (and extremely well drawn) fanart illustrations. Through the 3 days my ears rang with " AWWW SOOOO CUUUTE!!!! THAT NARUTO/SASUKE/AXEL/RIKU/WHATS-HIS-NAME/ PRINT/BOOKMARK I WANTIIIIIIIIT!!!!!" Oh well. It can't be helped, I guess.

So I want to take a moment to say A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you wonderful people who actually stopped by my table and bought my stories or even just chatted with me! You are wonderful and the motivation for artists to keep fighting to get their worlds and hearts out there!

Moreover, I had a great moment there when one of the dA pals sought me out in the alley - and even more so when she came back a day later with a small drawing for me and a note. Wolf, it was ADORABLE and I am keeping it on my desk!! It was great meeting you in person!
I was also happy when a very talented artist actually bought the original lineart for Bound from the Art Show - I was sort of relieved it went into good hands, so to speak.. (I am weird, I know )
Some nice panels, a lot of gorgeous costumes and several evenings with our very good friends with whom I stayed in Seattle - overall a great WE. But now I am really tired and taking a break from high-energy working schedule for a week - so today my cat and I napped together, spooning, for a bit during the afternoon. And tell you what: it feels good!!!

Sakuracon!

So yeah.. here we are!! I am flying to Seattle tomorrow for my first Sakuracon. Excited (and a bit nervous too XD), more or less ready, but definitely sick (I think my body is trying to tell me something... of the kind: "get rest and start working out!!!" )
So if you happen to be at Sakuracon, definitely drop by my table and say Hi (you can also bring me a hot tea with an aspirin.. ) - I'll have a bunch of nice stuff with me: copies of "Dreamless", copies of "Inner Edge: Old Wounds" which regroups chapters 1 and 2 in a stand alone arc , Wirepop Sampler copies and a handful of Dreamless prints.

Guys, this is to say that except for IE updates you won't see much of me till mid-March....(and I apologize for the utter lack of comments..) But I have no idea, and I mean NO IDEA how I am going to finish what I decided to finish by end February. I need to stop sleeping. And eating.

Thoughts on themes

As some of you have noticed, I have recently posted some "unusual" works. This stirred some reactions that made me think further on the subject: as an artist, I want to explore various realms. As a reader, I understand that not every realm where an artist goes is something that one would necessarily want to follow to. I want to respect that. Thus I shall not post any more "sensitive" material here
My position on art-work (and in life in general) is that respecting each other's sensibilities/beliefs is crucial and I try to follow this ethics. Personally my tolerance limits are very wide, but like everyone I have some subjects I shall not tolerate (and won't respect an artist who goes there either, probably) and they all basically come down to the respect of humans, or living creatures in general. For example, I have recently stumbled on a manga I really liked up to the point where the author compared one character to a nazi SS officer and presented this as desirable. I probably won't read books by this author in any near future. It does not mean that I shall insult her, but that particular point is in a big conflict with my own views. Different people are sensitive to different subjects. I would be very interested in your opinions on the subject of sensitive themes in art - it could be a valuable discussion.
So what are your views on this?
I also wish all of you a very Happy New year 2008 - I hope it will bring you a lot of joy and creative vibes!

So after about 22 hours, we're finally home, the home airport, I mean, which usually is pretty straight forward - normally it takes less than 5 min to pass the security and about 20min to get the luggage (when not lost..), but ..nooo.. Not this time... Tacto just said that a shower and a nice bed would feel so good... and ta-daaa!!! There's about 2000 people blocked in front of the security point. Gaaack!! Why? Because someone left a bag on the other side and that the security emptied that part of the airport to blow it up. I leave it to your imagination to imagine the look on my face.. Anyway. It was not as bad as it looked in the end.. So finally we get home (ie to the apartment of my other half's parents) and get to eat a fondue!!!!! ..and I also exaggerated on garlic, so hardly anyone talks to me since yesterday, hoping I won't talk back...
It is nice to be back, but it gave me some mixed feelings too. It is my first time coming here since my dad passed away this spring, and my mom is not here right now, so it feels a little weird. You know, coming back home but not having anyone from your family there anymore? So I get this bluesy mood which is not helped by Geneva's winter-gray skies. But I think things will get better as I'll get to go wander in the city tomorrow, see friends etc.
There. So much for the update. I also hope to have some time to draw pages, it usually is the best way to get in the good mood again for me

Folks, I just realized that almost all of my characters love appearing half naked... o_O (I guess you were trying to tell me.. XD ) So, umm, I think I got to start working on clothes designs!! (..and it's winter too...)
Also, the Wirepop calendar is coming very well together and should be ready to order at Lulu's in December - I'll give you more details later (we even have an illustartion by Svetlana Chmakova, the author of Dramacon - how cool is that?? XD )

At least that is how it sounded. Pam pam pam pam.. Too fast to pull the trigger each time... Probably 1,5sec total. Not enough to understand that the sound was not a joke by some mischievous kid in the middle of the crowd waiting to see a movie. And then the boy dropped slowly to ground, a mere 10 meters from us. Without a sound. No blood. Nothing. People around understood faster than we did - another 3sec and folks were lying on the ground or crouching. And we just stood there, not believing it was actually happening. I learned that the boy died 25min later. 1,5sec - and that's the end. We have not seen the guy who was shooting. But it kept me thinking since yesterday. Life is fragile. I knew that. Life can be taken so easily. I knew that too. But what would make you point a gun at someone and just stop both his life and yours just like that (for I don't consider lifetime in prison much of a life), that kept me awake for the night. I have seen people die before and it never has been easy. But I have yet never seen a life being taken away by someone. Until yesterday. Of course they delineated the perimeter right away including the ticket-counter for the theaters. As we were walking away and the boy still lying there waiting for the ambulance to arrive some lady was asking her friend if she thought they would still sell the tickets and run the movies in spite of that. On the internet the news said that some witnesses who heard the gunshots from outside said that they smelled the gunpowder as they passed close on the street - there was no smell at 10 meters where we stood.
I keep wondering since yesterday what is going inside people's head which seems so wrong to me..?

Thank you guys for your reactions. I still think about it a lot. The end of the story is that the boy who was shooting was 15 years-old... I mean.. 15.. This is just insane. The reason he did that is not yet clear, but it seems like it was some stupid argument because the other guy got in his way on the escalator.. This is absurd...
Anyway... it is a known thing that teen's frontal lobes (I am speaking of the brain and no offense to those of you who are under 20 years of age - it's a given fact ) do not complete their maturation till 20-21 years of age. That's the region you need to inhibit your pulsions. So don't give guns to teens dummit!!!!!!!!> (or adults for that matter..) And if you're a teen, count to 25 before you take any emotional decision!!! -_- *feeling old*

Hi all!
I hope everyone's doing fine! As for me, arrived to page 50 of IE, I had to draw some conclusions - primo, the updates will be pretty irregular till January due to another project, secundo, I feel like I am not making any progress anymore this way, so I want to take time to do other things, finally, updates will resume normally in January until the end of chapter 2, after what I'll decide on how things will be handled from there. IE needs to be re-worked a lot and I am not yet sure how I shall go about that. Thus, I would very much appreciate if you (you, who have been reading it for all this time!) would take a bit of time to tell me honestly what you think of the changes in art/storytelling, changes between chapter 1 and 2, what you prefer and what you don't like. I am immensely thankful to all of you who have been following and commenting - if I improved, it is a lot thanks to that.

Ta-daa!! We are back from Hawaii! Wow! I have been to a lot of places, but this is definitely one of my favorites to the title of vacation paradise... These were 10 great days - starting from the wedding of our very good friends on Maui in a wonderful house by the beach to the trip over the Big Island with its volcanoes and legends. One thing is sure - I'll be going back there someday! I do have some nice pictures that I'll post someday in the coming months when I get a bit of time
In the meanwhile, I wanted to say a huge "Thank you!" to all of you guys who have commented and be-friended me during this time - unfortunately I am not able to answer all of you individually now, but I really appreciate your comments/interest and shall try to do my best to keep things going.

Inner Edge - updates

After 2 years in the US I am finally going on VACATION... a true vacation, ie a place I have never been nefore where I go to have some fun and rest instead of taking care of different problems at home. I am going to Hawaii!!!! For 10 days!!! It has been my childhood dream We're flying on Friday. Good news - I managed to prepare the IE update for the next WE which will appear on WP; I'll also try to do page 49 on Big Island so that it should be up on Tuesday 18th at latest. Inner Edge - first birthday!

Dear all!
Last week I announced the first IE birthday and it was great to have your messages and see some folks I haven't seen in quite some time. So I wanted to properly say "Thank You" to all of you who have been following me for this time, all of you who have helped me progress with your comments, or just stayed with me. I cannot really express how much it means to a creator to see that what I try to spill out of my heart can make somewhat resonate something in other people. There are a lot of moments of doubt and even discouragement while going after this dream (after all, comics are a lonely road to travel), so the support you guys gave me is a wonderful and priceless thing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Finally, I apologize for my lack of responses in the past couple of months, (work really had me grounded) but now it should get better again! Banzaii!!!!!

Inner Edge - first birthday!

Amazing but true, yesterday was actually the first birthday of Inner Edge as a webcomic!!!!
It is a shame though that I am so swamped with work that I could not even draw a candle... T_T Anyway, I felt kind of happy
So just for the sake of nostalgia here are the first and the current last pages (page 1 and page 44-45) - it feels like we came some way during this year.

In the IE news, starting January 2008 you will be able to purchaise a brand new wirepop calendar with WP webcomics illustrations made specifically for it! And IE will be covering... the month of August, to celebrate IE's birth! Neat, huh??
On a less positive note, there will be no update this WE (I am flying tomorrow for a long WE for a friend's wedding) - I really do hope that this will be the last update miss for the next months.

Osamu Tezuka exposition

I finally managed to visit the exposition of Osamu Tesuka's work in the Asian Museum in SF. And it was a revelation.. Of course I have read some of his works (Bouddha and Black Jack), and read about his extraordinary career and work, but seeing the original pages of him with my own eyes was a completely different experience.. I never knew how much fine detail it was possible to fit in a A4 page (-if I hadn't SEEN it myself, with all the ink and white-out, I wouldn't have believed it to be possible!) And seeing that what I would have sworn to be a zip-tone is actually drawn by hand with ink, filled me with awe..
Beautiful beautiful pages, dozens of them, made me stare nose in the glass (people must have thought that I was weird or very very near-sighted) and realize that the clue is in the mastery of the art - a seemingly simple style of drawing characters and just plain paper and ink .. but there is so much more there than what meets the eye - look closer and you see the master in every line and it hits you and makes you feel humble: he makes it seem simple when in reality he can do wonders. And that is just the art. Then there is a persona who probed human conditions in very different ways.
It was an amazing experience. If you can go and see it, do it.

Flight and amazing people

Some of you may have noticed that vol.4 of "Flight", the anthology published by Kazu Kibuichi (www.boltcity.com), comic creator and 's husband, hit the shelves. I have heard of Flight and its selected crew. I have visited its forums ([link]). I have never read it until yesterday. And then I got speechless. An all color, beautifully printed book full of short stories from different artists of the Flight Community. All so very different, but all so very masterful. But even beyond just the share quality of the work, what is truly amazing is that all of them give of the same flavor that reminded me of Hayao Miyazaki's worlds - a world as if seen through child's innocent eyes that see magic and beauty of it, beyond all its ugliness. So if you haven't read "Flight", go get a copy. It is so much worth it. I kept reading again and again and it inspired me more than anything has in a long time... so much in fact, that a new story was born overnight in my head, full of colors.
And just to say that the world is not such a big place (or maybe because there is a wonderous thread that unites things) - one of the "Flight"'s authors will be giving a sort of workshop at the Asian Museum in the context of Tezuka's exposition this month. Isn't this magic?

Folks, I am very sorry for this first double update miss. My work needs my extra-full attention for the next month (meaning WE included), which makes things complicated. Nethertheless, I hope to be able to post a double update next WE. Also, I am trying to work on my art from a different perspective as well and this needs time too. After the "Flight" discovery and an encounter with a comic professional that I won't name just yet, I realized that I neede to get out of my webcomic boundaries to grow too. So please cope with my irregularities for the next weeks. It all should get better in September.

So as you might have noticed, there were no update for IE this WE - sorry!
We had a great long WE of hiking in Mammoth lakes region and just came back. The weather was great, the National Forest and scenery were amazing and it just felt good to spend a WE among friends walking in the sun. I confess that I fully enjoyed the company of everyone, although scheming all the way for IE scenario - hiking is great for exploring different plot ideas!
So now back to work (of which I have more than I would like..) and watch out for page 44 next Sunday. Good week to all!

Hi everyone! So I am back home from Minneapolis, completely sleep deprived and behind schedule! XD Minneapolis was a pleasant surprise for me - I had really no idea what to expect, but the city is really nice: I enjoyed walking in the downtown, enjoying a couple of nice restaurants, walking to the great Mississipi river.. and finaly getting again this feeling of true summer - hot weather and shorts!! XD - my beautiful but foggy city is just a bit too cold for me... brrr!
The conference on the other hand was OK, but not nearly as good as last year, so I am a bit disappointed from that side.
I also indulged in manga..again.. I had time to read in the plane, so I bought Trigun (thank you, Mishi!!) and Tsubasa this time - to see what it is like. Funny thing - I really loved the 2 first "big" volumes of Trigun, but for some reason, starting from vol 4 the art looks less good to me. This is something that happened with several authors that I like and I find it really sad (of course, it is just a question of persona taste..) I wonder if other people have had the same impression?? For example, I loved "Please save ny Earth" by Saki Hiwatari, but "global Garden" is really disappointing story and art-wise. Same for Kia Asamiya: "Silent Mobius" was wonderful, but Dark Angel is... well.. far from good I would say. And now Trigun. Maybe it's because authors get tired of their series? or manga in general?? What do you think?? (throwing a stone in the pond here.. )

Due to a big workload, I have to move IE updates to Wednesday for at least some time. Also, I feel like it fails to spark the interest in readers... - except for some of you guys who have been following and commenting from the start (thank you so so much!!! ) - it doesn't look like there is much interst in it. So I am thinking of stopping for some time after chapter 2 and concentrate on practicing what needs to be practiced. I would really like to hear your honest opinion on what IE was in the beginning and what it has become - and also what makes you read it or why you stopped doing so.

This is it! I survived my first US con/artist table! It was a very interesting experience indeed. I think I understand better now how to prepare for future events and what to expect. But first of all I would like to thank all the great folks who stopped by the table - I had some really interesting discussions and met some really nice people who made it all worth it. Some generous folks even bought some of the IE booklets and prints!!! and I even got and did a comission on a couple of original characters and it was great (Trish, if by any chance you read this, send me a note with your contact - I have been searching for you to ask for a card afterwards but couldn't find you!! ) I also did some portraits of cosplayers on the spot and it was really fun (after what I also realized that I need to practice more live drawings )
Finally I also got a new look on my own work and see even more things to change now. So back to work!!
Also, "Wonderland's Curses" has been published in the BAUU vol6 anthology, which has a really nice collection of short stories and a great cover by

Heh heh... Well we are back home since almost a week and settling down. It feels good!
Concerning IE, I am still experimenting.. a big thank you to all those who left commets on the layout poll, it really is important for me. From what I understand, most of those who commented prefer the old panneling (no, I did't do it all square on page 36 to tease you! - I am still looking for different paths to make things better). And today I was experimenting printig pages out since I plan on taking the first paper issue of IE to Fanime con where I'll share a table with Lillith in 2 weeks. It will be my first so even if I don't expect to sell anything really, I still am getting pretty excited . I'll bring the first issue (1st chapter) with a new cover, some color prints, shall try to do some bookmarks and also A3 size black and white copies of original IE pages before toning and lettering (it does look different from the final result !) So if anyone will be there, drop by and say Hi!!
I guess this is it for now, please keep telling me what you think, like or dislike and a special Thank you to Thulesse who has been helping me out with my english expressions!

It happened! I got my first insulting mail on my TP account. I had to read twice to make sense of it XD! So someone compared Leo to an "ugly dog" and got all flustered over me mispelling "Takuto" and that they would want to do something to me for that. I found this very amusing I must admit I considered a moment to tell the ignoramus that "Tacto" means "touch" in italian and is also a manga character with this exact spelling, but then I decided that it would be a waste of my time.
Anyhow, I interpret this as a sign of success (I am sooo egocentric.. )... bwa hahaaaa!! People, really..

Hi all!
This is to say that after receiving a lot of comments, suggestions and critiques for IE, I finally think that it would be a good idea to take a new start with the story. Thus, after the present chapter comes to its end, I'll re-start IE from scratch. But don't worry, you won't get bored since the new beginning will actually take place on the day of the wedding and will almost not include anything from the actual chapters 1 and 2. There will be new things with characters you already know. The idea is to have a more dynamic and appealing start for when I eventually shall try to self-publish the thing on paper.
So here is the deal: you have 2 more months to tell me what you want to see changed, improved, what you like and whatnot so that I can work on it for the new beginning. There also will be a new cover of course. The old beginning will be more of a "Episode -1" thing and I'll try to print it on paper and bring it to conventions as an appendix to the main plot.

Pheww... I am finally back home and wishing that someone will invent a teleportation door system soon so that it won't take around 20hours to get there or back.. I love flying, but a huge long courrier is not really my ideal idea of a flight.
Also, one thing that always annoys me is people's behavior - I think one could write a book about that in public transport.. For example why the hell do people form a huge line standing 1hour ahead of time to get on the plane first?? You'll get there anyway, and unless you have a ton of luggage (which you can't), you'll have room for your stuff even going there last. And those same people jump of their seats at the end to stand another 10min squeezed like sardines in the narrow plane alleys before the doors open.
Another wonderful observation I made today was in the airport of Amsterdam - there was one nice place serving food and drinks with a nice seating area (the Sandwich Island if anyone goes there), but one little problem - people just eat and leave their trays on the table (yes, it is not written everywhere to carry them for 2 meters to the cleaning place, but that's what brains and manners are for, no?!) Anyway, there is a croud wanting to sit down and enjoy their time there, BUT! - do you think they would carry the dirty trays away? Hell no! They push them a little and eat whatever they got just next to the trash (because it is better than cleaning up after someone else, right?). And the worst? After that they get up....and leave!! Leaving their trash too!!!! I sat there for an hour writing my IE chapter - and well 1 person out of 8 cleaned up before sitting down... Honestly, sometimes I marvel at how the humanity hasn't gone extinct yet, because even if we got a big brain compared to animals, we certainly don't use it much.
End of rant. But it felt good.

And I survived..!! So basically I managed to do most of the things I had to do and that in itself still amazes me.. So today I enjoyed sleeping and drawing the 30th page of IE - it was a blast!
Next week I'll be coming on dA more since I'll be in Europe again and not able to do much of drawing anyway..

So here is the update of my situation: it is an extremely tight period for me at work, so exceptionnally I am going back to one update/week for 1 month starting now. I am very sorry, but there is really no other way Also, the 1,5 updates will resume in April with (hopefully) a better quality.

Dear all,

well, some of you know that I have failed at Rsom7. This made me think and I came to the following conclusions:
1) I need to practice certain things. And this will involve not just doing comic pages, but doing well, practice exercises.
2) I need to plan ahead for Rsom8.

Thus, I need time. Which I don't have. So, my solution is to go "underground" and cut on my time on dA. IE will still be running 1,5/week (though I don't think a lot of people care). I might have to cut it down to once a week at some point, but I'll try not to.
I'll come to dA once a week. I'll try to comment on the work of people whom I watch or folks who specifically ask for it, but I won't be chatting nearly as much as now.
So please, don't resent me for the new silence - this is the only way for me to improve my drawing, keep IE running and do my full-time work which actually pays me.
Hope you all understand. Thank you to all who have been supporting me so far, you guys are amazing. Every note from you helps me to keep going which sometimes seems almost impossible..

Well the Rsom7 Top24 has been announced and you should all go take a loo and vote for those folks here [link]
And I have a favor to ask of you: please read Wonderland's Curses (I'll post it to the end now) to the end and tell me very honestly what you think. And be mean. I know that my inking and toning on this is bad and probably screwed de me pretty severely. The character's look lacks consistency too. But I really would like to know what you think of the art and story. Don't be nice, please tell me what you really think, because it is the only way for me to know and see things I don't see.
And for once I ask you all to take a couple of minutes and do this comment - even if you never comment otherwise and won't comment on my future work, your honest opinion on this story which didn't make it in the contest is extrememly valuable to me. Seeing the Top24 stories might also give you a clue to what didn't work in my submission. A big Thank You to all who will take a little time

Lol! Well, now this is official, I didn't make it to the Top20 of the Rsom competition Which is not surprising considering the fact that half of my entry was inked before the IE page 1 was done.. so you can tell that the art is pretty inconsistent and rough. And the story is rather.. experimental, some might not like, but basically it is about tolerance, so try it!
And as each thing has a good side to it, now I shall be able to post the story here for you to read! So I am officially declaring the "Wonderland's Curses" marathon - 2 pages a day during 8 days , starting today! Hope you'll enjoy

So for the WE summary, I am still alive (although stuck at home), which has its good sides too since page 27 is ready for tomorrow (hope at least you're happy! -_-)

Bwhheeehhh.... I am sick... feeling like crap... and thus not going anywhere... which sucks since the weather is gorgeous...

EDIT: Ok.. the girls just wouldn't leave me be.. they said they are coming to take me and if I vomit too much in the car they'll leave me by the road.. .. I don't really know if I should rejoice or not..
