A fascinating concept that is equally tastey! You don't find those very often!

I was over at Joseshin's for lunch this afternoon, and she treated me to sticky rice and eel -- two things I don't get very often so if I can I jump on whatever chances that come my way, I DO.

In return, I baked dessert.

Basically, I did this massive cookie pie type of a thingy. To quote Joseshin, it looked like a Chigago deep dish pizza in cookie form. It was just sliiiiiiightly underbaked, so it was still nice and moist on the inside...although after looking at one of the pieces earlier tonight, I think the sheer density of chocolate chips didn't let the dough bake properly...

...Yeah...one piece was rich enough...

I also had a chance to see Joseshin's sister and mother and meet her father as well. All of them look good, and her father seems pretty nice. I'd just like another opportunity to just shake his hand and all that. Just how I was raised.

Ooo...! Also...! Finished my first Christmas giftie of the season! I'm not a total loser anymore...!

...Just ignore the fact that the illustrated gift STILL isn't inked, yet, and we'll be good.

Still, that might get done on Saturday...I'm not sure. I guess I've been waiting for a chance to work on it at such a time when I know I won't be walked in on at all, and Saturday night Mom, Dad, and Jenn will be out helping with a fundraiser for Shakespeare Festival.

Yeah...just me and the little guy.

...God help me.

Anyway, I'm got stuff I need to get ready for tomorrow. Dest and I resume work on chapter twenty, and holy crap will it be intense...!

On one final note, though, I did recieve a sign that it might be time to return to the fanfiction sooner than I first believed. Joseshin showed me some key cutscenes from FFVII: Crisis Core, one of which included an attack combo called the Chocobo Stomp. It was, by far, the most stupid-cute thing I had EVER seen.

YouTube has been a little odd, lately -- you might have to click on the button with the single arrow pointing off to the side to access a secondary window in case the settings bar is MIA at the bottom of the screen. I don't know why it's like that -- and has been for a few days, now -- but it's terribly annoying.

Also, get ready you guys! I sent Destinyfall a brief snippet of what's to come in chapter twenty of MxC, so we're working again tomorrow afternoon on the latest misadventures of my French Duchess Cossette and her Vampire King stud Mael! Should be interesting...!

Obviously I won't give away any of the details here and now, but as Dest herself said in her comments on chapter nineteen, you won't want to miss the next one...! Trust me...!

But I did realize something today that made me sigh a little. I looked at the notes that the two of us compiled when we began this project and it dawned on me that the MxC collab is nearly three quarters finished...! It's almost over...!

...I can honestly say I'm going to be very sad when it is...

But, one of the things I'm going to be doing doing relatively soon -- probably after Christmas or so -- is I'm going to be going through all the installments of FFVII:TC and clean them up a little bit, give them all a facelift, and just bring them up to date while reacquainting myself with the story. Heck, I might even start giving them actual chapter titles...

Suffice to say, I had not believed that the fanfiction would be getting any amount of attention when I started posting it, so I was just kind of blah about it at first. I mean, honestly -- there are SO MANY FFVII-themed pieces out there, and while some of them are really quite good, the vast majority of them are simply horrible. I think I would have sooner lumped my own work in the latter catergory than the former. But, I think that's going to change for the better once the process is over and done with.

After the fanfiction, though, it'll be time to buckle down and actually devote myself to something that I'll gear towards publication. I've had four years of freelance study and practice...now it might as well be time to roll up the sleeves and dig into it for real.

Aside from that, however, today was pretty standard and low key. I'm not sure if I like days like this. They're kind of boring and...meh.

I will say, however, that my highlight of the day was dinner when Mom roasted a whole chicken, thereby confirming my belief that parents, moms or dads, NEED to know how to cook for themselves and their kids. Not only is the food awesome, but the kids also tend to end up with more varied palates and a greater appreciation for what hits the table. My sister and I weren't allowed to be picky eaters. In fact, come Friday I'll be over at Joseshin's house for the first time in, like, AGES for lunch and whatnot. Right now, my cold had pretty much run its course...I am presently past emptying my siuses and have entered into what is affectionately known as the Hairball Stage.

In any case, be proud of me, though...I bravely ventured forth and dusted my room so it could be closed up for the onset of winter.

Keep in mind, my room has always been neatly organized...just...dusty...

Yeah. Dusty. Lots of it.

Okay, that's enough of that. Moving forward...!

This was apparently a weekend for idle experimentation, it seems. Cleaning out my room aside and regularly stuffing my head under the hot flow of a shower to break up cold-related nasal-blockage (God, you don't know what I would have given for a steaming hot bowl of chicken ramen with spicy red bean paste...! ), I did something that I never would have expected I would do -- something that I suppose might bring me down in some of your estimations...

I sat through possibly one of the most poorly written movies in all of cinema history, one that was based off of an equally poorly written book.

...I sat...through Twilight.

Granted, it was the MST3K version of the film so the snide commentary provided a nice protective filter, but STILL.

Yes, there is an MST3K version of the much-loathed Twilight movie floating around on the internet out there -- and it is frigging HYSTERICAL. I was cackling along with Jenn, Collin, and Scotty the entire time, wondering all the while how crap like this gets so much fame and prestige in the first place. Beats me, but it just makes it a juicier target to beat up on later.

I'm kind of hoping that the MST3K guys do New Moon, next. It would give me a reason to live.

Even so, my loving and intelligent older sister Jenn did go and read all the books for the sake of fair judgement, and she allowed that the books were, in a sense, entertaining. No, we're not talking the next Sense and Sensibility or the next Wurthering Heights -- but we ARE talking about the classic example of a train wreck that is too funny NOT to watch.

For all you legitimate fans out there, I am sorry if this offends you...but I'm one of those critics who's not easily satisified so don't think I'm deliberately singling out Stephanie Meyer and her world for butchering...

...At least I THINK I'm getting sick...but either way I intend the beat the fucker into submission before it gets out of hand...

In any event, however, my search for references for Male Nudes has pretty much come to an end...I managed to muscle my way through what I could find but it didn't really supply me with what I needed. There is clearly and "ideal" that people try to achieve...but from what I saw everyone's is pretty individual...

So...in a fit in despair I wikied it. Yaaaaaaaaaay, education.

...At least now I know why a penis is sometimes referred to as a "sweaty hairless meerkat..."

Nevertheless, my first nude piece (not of me, I'd like to establish; so quit thinking like that you perverts... ) is definitely a first...I'm going to let it sit as is for a few days and see if it begs me to cover it up at all. Who knows? I might chicken out at the last minute...

Oh, by the by...I'm currently sitting in a brand-new computer chair, and have been since this past Saturday. The old one broke on me that Friday night, much to the amusement of my family, and so far the new one is pretty slick. Only it doesn't have arm rests like the last one did, so I have to remind myself on occasion when I go scrabbling for them to steady myself...

Okay...back to work...I managed to kick myself into gear and have gone back to cleaning Cossette's Easter gown...WHICH, I'd like to remind you all, will be making its official debut in Dest's upcoming chapter, so stay alert...!

Basically, in an absolute fit of pure boredom, I went and got started on the first of my Christmas presents for people late last night, came to a crossroads with it, and wondered to myself: do I want to take a leap and make a nude out of it...?

Might sound horribly tacky, but I came at it from this perspective: the recepient of the nude would love it, and be terribly amused at the same time, and frankly it would be a good chance to practice the finer points of anatomy.

...I just need to get up the courage to actually go through with it.

So, I started looking up references here on dA, thinking that if I had to start anywhere, it might as well be here where I know that it will be relatively professional and safe -- and upon punching "Male Nude" into the search engine, my hunch was rewarded with some nice, well-done images. But when I went off the beaten path and tried "Penis," I was quickly reminded that there are some pretty twisted people out there -- and that certain parts of the human anatomy should NEVER be pierced.

I shall have to share my findings with you all on at a later date so you can get the full affect of what I'm talking about...

But for right now, the first of my presents this year has reached a bit of an impasse, and I'm not quite sure what to do about it. Having never done a nude before in my life, I'm kind of paranoid about keeping it from seeming too...off, if you get my meaning. I mean, based just on what I saw today, there are some funny-looking penorz out there, so I'm shooting to render something that's recognizable, eye-pleasing, and...dignified...? I think...?

Plus, I'm struggling against a wave of anti-motivation where all of my work is concerned. I started cleaning Cossette's Easter gown, only to stop halfway through cleaning her hair and go, "Meh."

I guess it just doesn't want to be worked on right now...

Obviously, that can't keep up forever -- I'd like to get it finished in time for posting at about the same time as Dest's next chapter for MxC, which, I might add, is getting frigging HYSTERICAL. You will see when you read, and you won't be disappointed.

That, however, was last night. This morning, it's done nothing of the sort.

My guess? I suppose Dad must have taken a look at it earlier this morning before leaving for work. Bah-boom.

You know, for the last couple of days it's been downright BORING around here. The most excitement there was to be had was when Ethyria and Josh randomly showed up last night and ended up staying for dinner because she found out that Mom was fixing up mashed potatos and baked chicken.

Oh, by the by -- yes. Ethyria, after living here for about a year, has since moved out and into her own place with Josh. They live maybe two miles or just under that from us -- quite literally on the OTHER side of the valley. We now have plans to send messages to each other via smoke signal if and when we are bored.

Well, Prue's piece got finished this afternoon...completely with some of her character info. Fun times with that one, I must admit. I've got one more really pressing one that I AT LEAST need to get the preview up here for, and once that's done, I can sort of mill about and focus on something else for a while -- such as Christmas presents for people.

As it stands right now, I'm OFFICIALLY doing presents for the following...

Do I know what I'm doing for each of them, yet? Mostly. I need to nail Dest's feet to the floor and beat her deepest desires out of her so I have a vague idea of where to go. When I first asked her about it on AIM, she responded with, "For Mael to be real!" I promptly responded that it wasn't a likely thing to pull off...mostly because I would probably end up being selfish and keep him locked up at my place.

The other toughie will be my darling Snailtamer. She's been going through a horrible patch at the moment, and for me -- her self-appointed big sister -- it's been hard for me to watch the spiral from the other side of the pond when I only have so many ways of reaching her...

So, I intend to attack her tonight after this and see what I can do. :redbullglompplz:

Last night was good times. A group of us took my nephew and his friend from door to door, and even though I spent half the evening with cripping aches and pains -- as my feet got cold and I was wearing heels; if I had just kept moving rather than stopped to stand still waiting on someone, and a piece of boning popped from its sheath and kept stabbing me in a nerve cluster in my side -- I rocked it out with last year's outfit and was turning heads! I was happy with that...!

That, and...! And...! All those days of watching what I ate and when? It paid off: NO BRUISES...!!

The boning popping out I couldn't help -- but there were no bruises from pressure, and there was no torn skin. The deprivation paid off, and now I'm going to chow down on whatever the fuck I want WHENEVER the fuck I want.

But, Mom made a good point...I think it's time I got a new corset...

See, the problem with corsets is that when they break in, they DIG in, and it becomes a problem. You don't want a broken-in corset. You want one that's still stiff. The corset I have now my Mom made for me back in 2005, and if there were more occasions for me to wear one, I would say yes to a having Mom make me a new one. But, as it stands now, I don't.

All things considered, though, last night was fun! Yes, I was in pain, but it was worth it to look as I did. I'll have to see if any good pictures were taken and if I can get them up here.

For now, though, I'm going to go relax. It's been a busy day, what with community breakfast this morning and all. I think I might even turn in early, since tomorrow I've got some stuff around the house to take care of.

This is better than I had been hoping for.

I'm hoping to spend most of tomorrow looking it over (after errands and vacuuming, of course)...and if I play things correctly, it should be up by Saturday -- or maybe even late Friday. We'll have to see.

Heck, if it's ready by Saturday, then it's one more treat for you guys with none of the tricks.

Yeah, I've been sitting greedily on a huge-ass pile of goodies for you guys...and I'm been giggling wickedly about it since posting Garconer's preview -- which has since been taken down in anticipation of this weekend.

Of course, I'm kind of hoping to get back to cleaning and coloring stuff...kind of necessary...

So much for sticking to a To-Do List.

Aw, well...the holidays are pretty much here...TIME TO BRACE FOR IMPACT, FRIENDS...!!

I already have a set number of people that I WILL make presents for this year...at least as far as dA-relations go. Some of you -- in particular those of you who have my mailing address, and I know you know who you are -- will have the option of either having a dA-present, or something sent to them in real life. I can't do both, unfortunately -- time and resources won't really permit it.

...You know...science says that the human body is specifically wired to handle a twenty-five-hour day, even though we only have twenty-four to work in. Imagine what we could do with that extra hour!

Frigging cats.

Then again, today was kind of a miserable day anyway. It was cold, wet, rainy, raw...it would have been the kind of day that one would describe as being perfect for just lazing about in bed where it was nice and comfy.

Too bad I am an evil cat owner and had no qualms about pitching Aya over the side when I need to get up.

Yes, she stayed mad at me for a little while, but that changed when she realized that I had an available lap for the taking.

But, I will say that she did get even with me in a way. Being mindful of food intake usually isn't an issue for me (given what this weekend is and what I'll be doing), but when there are nice thick slices of fresh mozzarella cheese waiting to be reincarnated as grilled cheese sandwiches or else sinfully wonderful chicken patty melts...my resolve was tested a bit...

...And no, I will not disclose whether or not I betrayed my own sense of principle this afternoon.

Tackling another subject altogether, Dest and I finished work on what we needed to get through for the next MxC chapter...now all that remains to be done is actually putting this puppy together and run it through the editing engine a couple of times...

I'm HOPING to have it ready to go by Saturday or Sunday. I might lose Friday as a workday due to that Auntie Faye is coming out for a visit and Mom wants the house vacuumed...

...Which, truth be told, is deseprately needed anyway. I haven't done the floors in SO FRIGGING LONG since my sister and my nephew moved home. But, now that the little guy is gone for at least four hours an afternoon during the school week, it gives me a bigger window of time to actually get stuff cleaned without tripping over him or fighting with him about moving his stuff.

If you're around small children all the time, I daresay you already sympathize with this observation...

Also, just for the record, I would like to point out to the general populace that trying to dye one's hair in small confined places ISN'T a good idea...and that you should warn your roomies when you do in case they happen to mistake the red blotches on the curtains, vanity, sink, and FLOOR for something FAR worse...

Yes, Emerald, I know we all knew you were dying it, but suffice to say I wasn't expecting to see red in certain places.

Finally, on one final note, Halloween lasts an extra hour this year! That's right, Daylight Savings happens THIS Saturday. I personally don't recall another occasion where this particular event happened, but I think it's frigging awesome given the circumstances!

Emerald is going as Posion Ivy this year, so she got dressed up in her tights and leotard and asked me and Mom to help pin the ivy decorations to her so she could stitch them on later. I did something similar to the tank top I'm wearing, since I had to stitch a beaded front to it.

...But trying to take off a stretchy piece of clothing when it's stuck full of pins...? Not the easiest thing to do -- especially if you wish to remain unstuck by said pins...

But hey...Halloween is full of good times like that. Good, good times...

So, all of my stuff for Halloween is finished, and I managed to secure Jenn's help in doing my makeup for me...since I'm pathetic and can't do my own eye-shadow...

...I can do lipstick...and thaaaaaaaaat's about it.

Yes. Very pathetic.

At least Jenn promised that she won't make me look like a tweaked-out schizophrenic racoon...

In the meantime, I'm just going to go back to puttering around and avoiding going to the fridge for anything but something to drink. Dest and I are working again tomorrow, and depending on what gets accomplished, tomorrow might be the last workday needed for this chapter...

We'll see, though...I've been trying to keep my written pieces to a tight minimum just to avoid having the text show up in dwnloaded form only. Just how I am...

To my relief, it fit surprisingly well for a) not having worn it a year, and b) having snacked all day so that my stomach was all sorts of relaxed and stretched out. The way I see it, if the corset fits well, then so will everything else...

...Definitely encouraging, especially since my scare at the doctor's office earlier this month.

But, it does mean for the rest of this week I have to be mindful of what I consume and when.

No, I'm not starving myself -- that's mistake number one. But what it does mean is that I have to eat in small amounts with lots of fluid and stay away from overly hot things that would relax my stomach muscles. The reason I'm doing this is not only to make sure everything fits, but also to cut down on bruises this year.

Guess that one project I did on tightlacing was more valuable than I thought it would be.

But, I'm excited. Really excited -- and not only for Halloween. Me and Dest will be working closely for the next couple of days on the upcoming chapter of MxC -- and when we spoke earlier, we both admitted to having been assaulted by the Idea Fairy, so it should be awesome!

Plus, I'll have plenty of time to fix up the beaded tanktop I have to wear under the frock coat, so I'm not panicking about it...

...For now...just wait -- I'll probably leave it to the last frigging minute and start freaking about it THEN...

In the meantime, though, it's just going to be a quiet evening -- and I have no problem with that...

Okay...all of my Halloween stuff is finished...I managed to SUCCESSFULLY clean out Lillith's piece and, frankly, I think it looks better than it originally did -- or rather, that's what I'm telling myself so I can knock off the nay-sayers...

Halloween is next Saturday...exactly seven days from now. I'm still pretty frigging scared about trying on my costume to see if it will still fit, but I figure that I will have to soon -- particularly on a day when I can just kind of force myself to strap into my foundation pieces...

Maybe on Monday. We'll see.

No, I'm not going on a binge...I'm waiting until Halloween has come and gone...

But for now, I'm still busily working on salavaging what I can from Lillith's Halloween piece...and it's going well for the time being...still not making any sudden moves with it in the hopes that it won't freak on me...

HOWEVER...!! I HAVE COME TO A COMMAND DECISION...!!

I happened to look at my pageviews this evening, and as of THIS POSTING, I have 17,677 pageviews. I'm frankly impressed.

EVEN SO...!! This means that I'm not all that far from a bit of a milestone! Therefore, kiriban is set for 20,000 pageviews! First one with a screencap shot to backup the claim may come to me with a free uncolored lineart request!

Sound like a deal, friends? I've been here for a while, so it feels like it's about time for me to start doing stuff like this.

Besides: ever so often I feel the need to do something DIFFERENT. This, I think, will be one of those occasions...

In other news, I found coal! For real!

Basically, we began digging out the ditch necessary for the water line to go in on Monday, and started bringing up a couple of interesting things. I saw something shiny in the dirt, showed it to Dad, and was like, "Hey!" It was just something interesting, especially since there are no deposites for coal anywhere near here. The stone is now sitting clean and pretty on the desk. It feels nice. Nice stone.

For right now, though, I'm going to get back to work.

Also, I have pulled out my Halloween costume from last year. I'm really kind of hoping that it still fits...

But as it stands, since the world doesn't have a throat, I am left with strangling something else -- in particular, any one of the individuals I happen to live with.

However, as such an act would undoubtedly land me in jail, I am actually left with nothing -- which only makes me madder, of course.

Thirty seconds.

Just THIRTY. FUCKING. SECONDS.

That was all it took to undo EVERYTHING.

The power went out unexpectedly this afternoon at about 3:00 or so -- right as I was maybe a few dozen clicks away from wrapping up Lillith's Halloween piece and transfering the file so I could make a copy in order to recolor the special edition shot I wanted to do of it.

Good thing my nephew wasn't home -- otherwise he would have been privy to some rather creative swearing by Aunti Rivz.

Essentially, I lost everything since my last save prior to the blackout -- which had the lineart cleaned and base colors already filled in. A quick trot around the figure a second time with the polygon funtion managed to fix that, at least.

Sadly, the low resolution pixelation made the possibility of a special edition piece of the original a slim one at best. I'd have to pencil in everything from start to finish just to get the borders cleaned up in order to spare the overall structure.

I'll have to see how gung-ho I feel about it in the morning. Right now, I'm in no mood to deal with it -- not after the ration of shit I got from Dad right before dinner.

One of my responsibilities here at home (one of the official ones, I'd like to point out...notice that I get several others on a day-to-day basis depending on what is required... ) is to keep brewed pitchers of tea ready for dinnertime beverage consumption -- one black tea, and one sweetened green tea. This is fine. HOWEVER, the FUCKTARD who went after the teas last DIDN'T put the NEAR-EMPTY PICTHERS ON THE COUNTER SO I COULD SEE THAT REFILLS WERE REQUIRED.

So, it was apparently MY fault that they didn't get made even though the standing rule has ALWAYS been to leave out the pitchers to clue me in. I CLEARLY wasn't taking ANY intitiative at all in the matter, because I obviously don't do SHIT around here -- I guess laundry, cleaning, dishes, cat boxes, cat food, dirty work chores, and occasional nephew-keeping don't count as much any more.

I realize that by tomorrow this whole farce will be just that: a farce -- no more, no less. In the morning, it will look better than before and that the issue about the frigging teas will be forgotten by everyone else but me, the family pitbull. It was just something I didn't need tonight after losing my work on the computer.

...Jesus...this has been the first piece I've managed to one-shot in, like, a WHILE. Will wonders ever cease...?

It looks pretty damn sweet though...there might be some technical issues with it, but I'm hoping that his natural studliness will overshadow any potential complaints...

The next one on deck is Lillith's. I'm HOPING that hers won't be quite as intensive as Cossette's was...but we'll see. The last time I did itty-bitty lacey details was on Michaela's Boudoir piece, and that didn't turn out as well as I had originally been hoping for.

But, we'll see. I'm trying not to have second thoughts about any of the pieces so far, and in particular, Lillith's pose of all things. What she appears in stance-wise is how she wanted it, but now I'm kind of like, "Are you sure...?"

So far, she hasn't given me any real motivation to go back and redo it.

Also, it's official: my mother has the legal documents necessary to get a handicap tag on her car. Her last appointment to the doctor's yesterday morning prompted her physician to act on it, even though Mom REALLY doesn't want it. Techinically speaking, she has no evident or outwardly obviously physical disability -- until you see her try to walk and you notice that one of her legs can barely bend. This, sadly, is the result of long-term damage from when she was trampled by a horse at thirteen -- that, and from when she had me. Apparent, I was positioned just so on one of her nerves that it pinched and never got straightened out. She's needed a hip replacement since FOREVER for it, but she's never been able to qualify on account of being too young -- she's only still in her 50's after all.

In her 50's. Limping. Suffering headaches virtually everyday from a concussion from when she was thriteen. Battling anemia. Coping with worn joints. Dealing with high blood pressure. Working on controlling her hypertension anxiety...

Yeah.

My mother is a fucking SAINT.

Yet, for all of that, she still moves, still laughs, still does what she loves, and still puts in a full day's work at home as matron of her domain...

...And, interestingly, according to her doctor, still has FANTASTIC bone density.

Seriously! Apparently my mom has great bone structure! The rest of her might be going to hell, but she's got the bone frame of an AMAZON...!

The world is full of ironies sometimes...

Even so, Mom is in the process of filling out the paperwork. She's dragging her feet with it (since she's neither in a wheelchair or on crutches), but Dad's making her file the claim. The doctor cleared her to do so, so from the medical expertise standpoint she's safe. I figure that if we get a cane for her to use, it'll seem less odd to someone just watching her.

I remember when me and my sister were little, we'd go up to my grandparent's house in Maine and we'd make pizza on Christmas Eve for dinner -- and then leave Santa a slice with a nice cold beer.

We were odd children growing up.

Today saw a great amount of success. Not only was the weather good enough for me to get outside and get some pictures taken, but I also managed to wrap up the very first installment of my Halloween project -- as well as include something a bit extra in the mix, too, just because. It must have been the first impulsive thing I've been able to get away with, here, EVER.

Tomorrow, I start work on the next installment...

...And no, I'm not uploading ANY of it until Halloween.

I can be evil when I want to be -- never forget that.

But as far as evil goes, I've already started considering stuff for Christmas as well. Speaking of which, I think I better figure out who I'm giving gifties to this year...not sure how I'll go about that just yet since my head is elsewhere at the moment, but once I think of something I'll be sure to let you guys know first and foremost.

But before I even get to thinking seriously about Christmas, I'm sticking to Halloween for the time being -- and forget Thanksgiving. That would involve dressing someone up as a turkey, and I'm not sure that...

Meh...I already know what needs to happen after the Halloween stuff gets done...I have a meme, a little girl, and a Couples shot all staring me down...that, and hopefully the next chapter of MxC, but we'll see about that one...

Alas, there is some troubling news I have to pass on -- though it is largely personal and it has very little to do with anything here on this site. I just got wind tonight that two people who really SHOULDN'T be reproducing are doing just that: they are having a baby.

Normally, I would welcome the news of a child being born among my peers with a certain kind of enthusiasm -- more so if the couple in question are stable, intelligent, healthy, affectionate, and have steady jobs. This pair I speak of...yeah, no. If the government made sterilization mandatory for really, really stupid people, then these two would be prime specimens for the program...

Yep. Someone wanted to buy To Tame a Duchess as a print.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to comply with it.

See, while probing through dA's extensive FAQ library looking for a guideline as to how prints are managed here, I stumbled across this.

FAQ #150: I'm not sure if my image quality is OK. How can I tell?

All of my cleaned pieces still have the excess pixelation, as made displayed in the sample on the right. Do the math.

Not only that, but the piece that the requester wanted featured Mael, who DOESN'T belong to me, but Destinyfall -- and while the sensible person would simply ask her if it was okay, I was brought up to believe that there are just certain things you DO NOT ASK if it will only lead to self-interest. It's rude and in poor taste. I'm not going to ask Dest, who I respect and admire, if I can use something that involves something of hers in turn so I can capitilize off of it when I KNOW she's trying to launch her own career as a published author using the exact same character! No! That's not cool! Call it old fashioned, but that's how I am...

The other side to that is that I have no desire to sell prints, here. The process sounds more complicated than should be worth it, and honestly, I don't want to mess with it...

BUT!! The important thing I'm looking at was that it was a complete and total stranger that requested it -- no one I know, and not one of my watchers. That tells me that my stuff is getting out there and that people are liking it. Thus, it's time to start getting my crap wired for commissions...

I was serious when I bantered it about before -- I just haven't had the time to actually attend to it. I need to call the bank and ask for the details of how to go about setting up a checking account and the nuances that go with it, and then fling myself at my sister's feet and beg her to walk me through PayPal...

I'm trying to get settled with it, still -- don't frigging scare me off now...!

Let us ALL rejoice...

What a blissful sensation it was to stand in the bathroom of my parents' home -- which is easily the smallest room in the house -- and to just simply allow the warmth to envelope me...

But, before the furnace could be turned on, Dad had me go through the house and clear out the vents...

Of course, I didn't blink at it - it made sense. What I DID blink at was the injury I got in the process...!

It had to be a million-in-one shot. HAD to be. Basically, when I stuck the vacuum nozzle down into the shaft, it caught a large clump of dust and clogged on me. When I pulled it up to dislodge it, it loosened and the clump was sucked through -- bringing with it a shard of broken glass that hit the vacuum hose and punctured the plastic, getting me right in the palm. What the hell...!?

...After that, I started using a flashlight.

Vent-cleaning aside, it's official: we're FINALLY getting city-water! After TWELVE YEARS of LIVING ON WELL WATER, we're GETTING CITY-WATER...!! :iconeeeeplz:

We are pleased...very, very pleased...

But...for the water line to go in, we have to destroy two of our lilacs...

I'm crying. Believe me.

As far as art-related work goes, the Top Secret Piece has pretty much stolen my soul for right now...but I feel that, after seeing how Promise Kept got mixed reviews from the affects I used, I have something to prove once again. Soooooo, I'm deliberately and SLOWLY taking my time and being extra fussy about the details. So far, so good...but JESUS...!! I'm being kicked while DOWN over here...!

So, I'm hoping you guys will approve of the techniques I'm trying out...hoping, hoping, hoping...

Oh, and MxC is on hold for a few days, largely on account of Dest needing the time to work on more cruicial stuff -- and when that crucial stuff happens to be a group nude shot for Halloween, then friends, PRIORTIES COME FIRST, DAMN IT!!

Hey, bottom line, the MxC project is about having fun -- and that's what it is. It's fun, and it's awesome! Yes, I was slightly disappointed about it (mostly because I geek out about Dest's writing, so in this instance I'm behaving more like a rabid fan of her work than her partner in crime, here... ), but with the prospect of a group shot on the horizon...she can take aaaaaaall the time she waaaaants...

Besides, it's not like I don't have stuff of my own to tie me over...

Today was a little off, though. Mom came down with something last night, so everyone else was picking up the extra slack -- not that that's ever a problem, but it just felt a little strange seeing Mom laid up for the better part of the day...

She's doing better now, but you know...odd...

In any case, I'm coloring something new and different, now -- one for which there IS NO PREVIEW.

I hope to get it finished before too long...a full work day should go a long way to finishing the lineart of it, so we'll see what happens...

Yeeeee-haaaaaaaaaa...

Ugh...I'm not sure how I feel about this one...it's the basic setup, but Da'ath was giving me some fits with his leg, and his arm. His face, however, was happy to be planted right on Lillith's chest.

Then, there's the bench. When I drew the outline and proportions, it looked like he was pleasantly perched on the edge to get a better hold of his main squeeze. After the clothes were added, now I'm not so sure...

Ah, well...maybe things will look better once they are colored...

In other news, another busy Friday. Tomorrow I was supposed to head out to the Apple Fest with Joseshin -- much like we did this same time last year -- but she gave me a call earlier this afternoon and the poor thing sounded TERRIBLE. Stuffy with a head cold. She's not going anywhere tomorrow, and that's okay...perhaps if she's feeling better we can do Sunday...provided that I'm not needed for anything, but we'll see...

But hey! On the brighter side of things, here's a little something to get ready for the upcoming holiday...

Just one hitch, however: I don't have a completely original OC ready to apply to this. All of them are attached to either a fanfiction or a collab, and therefore, their originality -- while beyond question -- is still somewhat tainted as their histories are all incorporated into the world of the story's setting, which, I hate to say, isn't quite their own.

Believe me, one day I hope to give all of these OC's proper homes of their own, but until the, I am STUCK.

...Of course, Destiny -- who tagged me with the OC's Firsts Meme -- did that on purpose KNOWING my predicament.

For this, I will get her.

But in a way, though...it's letting me know that she's making a comeback after what has been an especially trying time for her and her family, for which I'm really very thankful for...

I had my yearly doctor's appointment today, and I came away feeling like utter shit about it -- never mind the generally clean bill of health I got out of it.

To start with, today wasn't overly smooth. Jenn started work today (well, she starts officially tomorrow; today was orientation), but because Mom needed the car, she was driving Jenn to and from, leaving me to take care of the little guy -- which is never a problem. But one moment it's, "Okay, Rivi, we're out of here," only to switch to, "Rivi, you don't have to worry, we're taking the Princeling with us because he's upset that Mommy is going someplace without him." This later morphed into, "Rivi, this is Jenn -- get Mom and tell her to bring me my social security card since I left it at home," and "Rivi, stand with the boy and wait for the bus." Then, it was, "LET'S GO YOUR APPOINTMENT'S AT 1:00...!!"

Again, none of this would have been an issue if it wasn't for the twenty million other things that were hanging over my head that I knew I had to get done.

So, not only was I late for my appointment (by about ten minutes, and for someone like me who takes pride in being prompt, it's a blow), but I got a nasty surprise when the nurse weighed me in.

I had gained more than ten pounds in the span of ONE YEAR.

I saw the spike in the numbers and IMMEDIATELY panicked. In the last year, I have remained constant in diet and routine, my dimensions have not changed, my pant size hasn't gone up AT ALL, my shirt size is the same as always...WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE EXTRA WEIGHT COMING FROM...!!?

...Needless to say, all of this made taking my blood pressure damn near impossible...

When talking to the doctor, I was choking. I honestly don't look at all different from how I was a year ago -- not in the SLIGHTEST. I don't even feel heavy, nor do I feel that my figure has bulked, any. There's been no signs WHATSOEVER that there's been a change. I began tweaking, and the doctor handed me a tissue, asking if I had done any extra activity around the house. That's when I realized that I had worked at Anne's horse barn from February to July, and when I told her about it, she smiled and simply said: "Muscle mass."

I pretty much passed out on the exmination table and grabbed the tissue she handed me...

Understand: I'm already a big person. That will never change. I have already accepted that I will never have an ideal or pretty figure...and it can only stand to get worse from here. So, to hear about the weight gain kind of threw me over the edge a bit -- and on top of an already hectic day where plans of action were changing on me every other minute of so...yeah...I wasn't in a mood to hear or see any of this...

But, luckily the doctor took me aside and explained that muscle weighs more than fat does, and that a common problem for women in the military is the branding of "Fat Man Notes," or, special notifications sent to the company physician that they need to lose weight only to be told by the doctor that the source of the pounds is all in the musculature.

She asked me, then, how much I was hauling on a regular day of work, and I told her anywhere from fifty to sixty pounds per horse -- and between two or three horses...it piles up...

But hey! How perfect is this? I just picked up the paint for the bathroom this morning!

The color is green, somewhat. The original color sample I had was called "Escape" -- a light, dusty shade of jade. It was really pretty. But when I took it into Lowes to get it mixed, the scanner wasn't reading the sample (it was Dutchboy, which Lowes didn't carry) and the computer had a case of the hicups -- much to the irritation of the guys trying to help me out.

But, as I told them, I would rather that there be problems at the store than in the bathroom, which has been in the works for nearly a YEAR and I was in NO MOOD TO DEAL WITH MORE...

Finally, after trying three different ways to get the color scanned, I took the sample and compared it to what was already available to find a match. The guy brought me over to the sample displays, tried to compare them himself, and finally let me have a whack at it after about five minutes. Found a perfect match IMMEDIATELY.

Now, I has a full bucket of teh paint. Tomorrow...we colorz...

Yes, that was my horrible stab at lolcat speak. Meh.

But yeah...we have paint...the new sample is apparently called "Pitter-Patter." Still, it's a grade better than the other one: "Mint Apple Seafoam."

Also, started work on my 2D To Do List...I already have one that I'm pretty happy with!

Right, so...that's it! Can't wait to get started tomorrow!

...I reached that point at about 12:30 yesterday.

But, at least now the bathroom is a blaring shade of white and the walls have a distinctive echo!

Tomorrow, I apply the finish, and if all goes well, I pick up the paint on Friday and things SHOULD be finished by Saturday!

To hurry this process, the lovely and talented Dia equipped me with a bunch of new music from right off of her computer -- mostly Lacuna Coil, Pure Moods, and a collection of bellydancing tunes, all of which I intend to listen to while I'm working. I'm grooving to the latter of that now -- it's very hard to sit still, and even harder to ignore the fact that I am, after all, sitting in a chair with wheels on the bottom...

Dad, though, was very happy with the job done yesterday -- I could see it on his face that he was thrilled...

...Well, either that or just relieved that soon this entire farce will be OVER. Pick one...

Still, there's the matter of redoing the wall in my room so that it doesn't smack of gray drywall and molding plaster anymore. But we can take our time with that, I think. Just as long as I eventually get a frigging door for my closet...

In other news, spent last night among friends, viewing super heroes, vampires, and the undead...typical fare in my group, happily enough. At least now I can say that I have seen a...cult classic? If you will? Anyway, it was Interview with a Vampire, and I have to be blunt: I gave a it a fair shot, Tom Cruise should NEVER be a blonde, it wasn't what I was expecting, and Anne Rice is frigging NUTS. Period.

Now for the breakdown. Keep in mind that I'm largely comparing it to Destinyfall's work, since she and her legion of OC's have managed to coax me back into the folds of the Vampire genre admist the blaring hype of Twilight, Moonlight, Vampire Diaries, and other hideously perverted incarnations of the myth.

Destiny herself despises Tom Cruise as Lestat. I personally just think he should only ever be dark-haired. Having never read the original book, and therefore am unable to determine if whether or not Cruise did the character justice (despite the testimony of Rice, who at first rejected him for the role only to hop on the bandwagon when everyone around her said he was perfect... ). As such, I nevertheless admit I find myself falling in love with the persona, if not the character. There was something curiously Sabat (for you Masquerade enthusiasts out there... ) about him that was strangely charming. I found myself giggling more often than not at his antics -- in particular when interacting with Claudia, the little girl that he and Louis, Brad Pitt's character, adopt and turn.

Did I see bits of Mael in Tom Cruise's Lestat? Well, sort of. I saw similar senses of humor and like traits regarding their opinions of who and what they are (very pro-vamp, in other words), but Mael has a touch of melancholy about him. Basically, I couldn't move any of the muscles in my neck -- otherwise it would hurt like a mo-foe! I probably slept wrong...lovely.

Mom got me up a bit on the early side this morning so we could go shopping for community breakfast tomorrow. I'm cooking up French toast, bacon, and sausage for the group in the morning, but I tend to handle the meats the evening before to prevent a pileup of stuffage early on. When she came in I kind of snarled at her, though...

Yeah, today didn't start off so hot, but once I started feeling a bit more like a human being I went back and apologized. Luckily Mom is the understanding type. She wakes with a great deal of pain herself just about every day -- being trampled by a horse when she was younger pretty much imposed that on her for the rest of her life.

But, on the ride home I started asking a bunch of questions concerning setting up a checking account with the bank. Mom outlined a great deal for me, but suggested that I talk to Dad when we got home. The big fear is if whether or not I'll have to start paying taxes if there's an active checking account under my name. Dad instilled this in me when I inquired, just as Jenn feared he would.

Dad must be the one I get my distrust of new technology from -- odd, since he's the engineer and gear-head in the family who LOVES his high-tech toys. But I think once finances get involved, he taps into his inner-Scotsmen and refuses to trust ANYONE. He frigging CURSES Paypal for a fare-thee-well..

Luckily, Jenn took me aside and started talking to me about it. Having worked for an online order company for nearly five years, she knows the ins and outs of it and worked with Paypal on any number of different occasions. She preached its value to me, so I'm slightly more at ease.

I'm planning to call the bank next week to get the specifics on opening an account.

Hopefully, all will go well.

In other news, we have three new fish -- or, rather, Emerald does. Her betta, Fishty, passed away a couple of weeks ago. So, she and Kyle went out to get new fish to fill the void. She joked that "Now they have children." Kyle looked at her as though she was insane...

Jenn now wants a hamster. We keep telling her, though, that if she wants one, she has to take care of it herself.

Working with Dad the last couple of days...yeah...

Well, the bathroom is now ready for the painting phase of the operation...which I am both loving and dreading...

Basically, it needs priming and finishing, and then actual painting. Both require tape. Both require time. Both of them DON'T require ANY FURTHER SANDING...

Yeah...basically, I spent much of yesterday playing round after round of "Dodge that Falling Plaster" whilst sanding down the damn ceiling. Dad went back and re-mudded the parts I sanded so I could sand them again for a smoother finish -- but smoothed over of not, some places are still too rough to ever be fixed.

...Now my arms are killing me...

Sanding up and down isn't so bad -- but sanding along the CEILING...!!? Sorry, but...fuck that noise...

...That, and emerging from the bathroom looking like I just attempted a wrestling match with a frigging powder room...

But, it was worth it. I'm not going to start with the painting until next week, largely because I don't want to have to mess with it over the weekend -- not when I'm probably going to have any number of people in and out of the house and likely trying to use the facilities...

Plus, I'm also expecting that I'll be doing this ALONE. Emerald has work and school, and Ethyria only has work (she's dropped her classes), but doesn't usually get out of bed until, like, NOON.

But, at least I'll be able to work at my own pace. It's something I know how to do, so I won't have to rely on Dad at all for direction. I can live with that.

I can ALSO live with how Dad makes spaghetti sauce. Holy FUCK.

...For a man who was at one time allegeric to tomatoes...DAMN...

Yes, it was delicious. He has earned the approval of the house to cook it again when he next has the chance.

Right, so, I'm going to figure out what I want to do next. The bathroom and the most recent MS Paint piece has owned my soul for the last several days, so now that I have it back for a brief respite, I'm wondering what I should do with it. It'd a toughie decision than most would think, oddly enough...

In any case, though, I'm off to go get some hot chocolate...it's brisk this evening!

At first, everything was awesome! I got up early, got ready for the day, got to work when I wanted to, gave Dad a hand with the bathroom when he called (he's on vacation this week, so guess what his project is... ), got everything ready for phase two, and then...yeah...

One click too many, and I pretty much wiped out the whole background.

But, luckily, I hadn't saved before realizing my error, so I was able to cut out the portion of which was already clean, transfer it to a new canvas, close out the original, open it again, have the background in place. I can stand cleaning the background twice and then just sort of ninja-ing the cleaned portion back into the frame. I can live with that...

I'm just hoping that I can get it back to that square before bed tonight, so obivously I can't stick around here too long...

Still, I found a bunch of THESE last night that I have to share with you before I zip off again!

Last night, a bunch of my friends were making the rough outline plans for a venture to Otakon in 2010. They already have decided on a group costume effort by going as figures out of the Norse panethon, calling themselves the Sons of Odin -- never mind that a fair bit of them will be girls, of course.

I sat and I listened in on this as Collin, Jenn, Kyle, and a few others were tossing around the ideas back and forth and actually breaking down the logisitics of how this would happen -- and in the end, formed a plan that could very well be executed in a precise and timely fashion. All the while, I kept thinking, "Aw, this could be so awesome...!"

...Only to then recall, "Wait...I don't think I'm part of this...and how the hell would I be able to PAY for it...?"

Basically, from everything I've heard, attending a con that is not local to you is frigging expensive. You have to worry about food and lodging, gas money, and the registry fee just to get in. On top of that, Otakon is, like, the MOTHER of all US-based conventions, so it's already a huge deal. But in conjunction with that, finacially speaking, Kyle broke it down to costing about $250.00 per person who wants to go with the group. If you have a job, it means pinching your pennies until you have enough of a cushion built up. But if you don't have a job (like me, who doesn't even know if Anne would be willing to hire her again for the winter, circumstances permitting... ), it means either finding one now, or, if you're slightly more artistically inclined, start cranking out the goods that you think will sell. Whereas a job would provide a greater amount of security of income, the downside is that not everyplace that's willing to hire you will give you the time off -- especially if you are lowest man on the totem pole.

Soooooo...this is my thought: restart my bank account, get PayPal, take commissions/sell my jewelry more affectively and to a wider audience. My question then is, "Would it actually work...?"

Because life has no real guantees, I'm setting out feelers: what do you guys think? Do you think this would be a good idea? Would you commission me for artwork? Would you buy the jewelry you see in my gallery and not run away when you know what the prices are? Would you, my friends and colleagues, assist me in my Quest for Otakon...?

The way I see it, I can't stay under the radar forever -- I've always known that, but may not have always voiced it. This is a selfish motivation, at best, but then again, most motivations are. I REALLY want to go with my friends and sister to Otakon. I want to go because I've always wanted to, and because I would love a chance to hang out with my big sister like the couple of nerdy little twits we are. It might work, it might not work. The majority of us don't even know where we will be by the time next summer comes around -- some of us may not even be working by then.

But, on the flip of that, so what? My sister intends to go, and she realizes more than anyone that she might not find employment until it's almost too late! The job market here flat-out SUCKS. It's the economy, and there's not much that can change that. But, what also fails to change in this case is that Otakon, in the end, is a goal. It's a goal, and you work towards it. Besides: even if Otakon falls through -- even if the very ones who are helming this now can't go -- I'll be on the grid and can still move on. This may work, this may not work. Again, no guarantees.

Sorry. Little things like that amuse me...

Well, not much to really report today -- save that I spent a WELL overdue night with Dia yesterday, the two of us killing a couple of hours over at Roji's just to talk, rant, vent, laugh, and analize life and all of its complexities. I don't get to see her very much anymore, but now that school is back in session, she has an actual schedule to adhere to and can therefore better allot her time. We've since decided that Tuesday nights could very well become Roji's Night...with breakfast possibly on Wednesdays...

See, the nice thing about Roji's is that it has a great atmosphere, and even if you don't come to order something, but instead just want someplace to sit and work, it's the PERFECT setting. If I had a laptop, I would totally bring that sucker with me there and hook in.

Today, though, was my nephew's first actual day of school, as yesterday was orientation for him. I hugged him and told him to go break the system. I'm not expecting that to catch on for a few more years, but either way I'm happily looking foward to the results.

...Aunts and Uncles have the obligation of showing their nieces and nephews the bigger, brighter (and oft times more rebellious/naughtier) world that their parents often try to hide from them.

In the meantime, though, I started cleaning out the next piece for coloring and already I'm fucking tweaking out about a couple of points, not the least of which is the lineart. Quite a few of the lines are intersecting with each other -- especially in the region of Cossette's skirts and how they're being raised. Her leg is ONCE AGAIN in the way...so I suppose I'm back to frigging puzzles again...

...DAMN IT...!!

Anyway...I at least want to get myself to the end of phase one before tonight is over...

In many respects, my own PERSONAL weekend has been nothing short of easy-going and relaxing...it was watching the whirlwind around me that left me kind of beside myself...

For one, my Auntie Faye has been up for the last couple of days, and she leaves tomorrow. My nephew has decided that Auntie Faye is apparently his new best friend and has willfully run her ragged. As adorable as it is...YOW...

I have NO IDEA where he gets all that energy from...

That, and I've been hit with the oddest of compulsions to make jewelry late into the wee hours of the night. I don't know why or how, but at least I have four new pieces to show for it in the end...

Also, two VERY good friends of mine, Elisabeth and Ashby, got engaged over the weekend! Some of you might remember Elisabeth as one of the two friends that took care of my twenty-first for me by constantly reminding me that my wine glass was empty...

Ashby, well...I've known him for about twelve years, now...

See, the two of them have been together for two years -- this past weekend marked their second anniversary. Because of them -- and a few others -- I have since decided that all couples fall into either one of two categories. The first category is the positive one -- the one where you look at the pair in question and think, "Yeah...that works." The second category is the negative one -- where you look at a couple and all that comes to mind is "WTF...!!?"

Elisabeth and Ashby, I'm happy to say, fall into the first category. They look good together, they feel good together...it basically was not so much a question of "if" but "when" for them. He bought the ring months ago and told only a few of us what his plans were...and we all honored that to the very end...

No word yet as to the wedding date, but I hope to hell that I get to go...!

Because that essentially wraps up my life for right now, I do have something for you all to while away at least five minutes with...

There is also a fourth piece I've got sitting in the wings, but THAT one is TOP SECRET. I don't want ANYONE seeing it before it's finished -- not even a preview. There is, of course, the option of picking that one as well, but I'd like more of the focus to be on those readily available...

I'm also seriously debating if I want to keep up with the 2D pieces or if I want to take a break from it and dive into the jewelry for a little while. I have a fresh collection of untouched shinies to work with, so I'm feeling predictably torn.

Part of the...challenge? I guess you could say? Is that Destiny hasn't given me much indication on when the next chapter for MxC will get posted, and while I'm in no way looking to apply pressure on her (because, one, that's just not cool, and two, I know she's working on something big that I, frankly, am really excited to see), I don't want to start something I'll have to drop suddenly if she suddenly posts the chapter.

Let's be honest: if she posts, I would drop whatever I'm working on and totally switch gears. I may not want to, but that's just how I am when it comes to this.

Sooooooooooooooo...a loving hand in this would be greatly appreciated, guys! Garconer got some awesome feedback in his latest one...keep the good times going...!

In the course of one day, we have acquired said fish, a new tank for it with plenty of tank-type decorations, food, cleaner, and so on...all because Emerald's sister was unable to take him back to school with her and their mom was threatening to flush the poor little beauty down the toilet.

So far, the beta -- Emerald calls him Fishty; we all call him Sushi -- is very unimpressed with life, but is otherwise in good health.

Yeah...new computer speakers...totally jamming to some tunes right now...

Hells yeah, there's rejoicing, baby!

In all, I think this is the most exciting thing to happen all day for us -- that, and Dad brought home five bags of Lindt truffles for the womenfolk of the house...which was very kind of him. When he said he was heading out earlier after dinner, he asked if anyone needed anything, and I suggested chocolate, not actually caring either way if he would truly go and get it. That he did...I'm going to make sure that he gets a GOOD birthday present this year...

Also, remember how I said yesterday that it was never too early to jump on Halloween? Apparently, I'm not the only one who feels that way. Ethyria and her boyfriend, Josh, are going as the classic fairytale prince charming and princess set. I can't lie...it was up-chuckingly cute...more emphasis than the up-chuck than the cute because nearly EVERY young couple pulls that charade at some point...

But, in Ethyria's defense and support, the design she came up with for his outfit and her gown are classic staples, and will test her mettle as an amature hobbiest seamstress -- which I believe will be good for her to ches on for a while. I look forward to seeing what she does, but I already warned her that if I see him wearing dirty white sneakers with the costume, I will strangle the both of them for letting it happen, one in either hand.

At least have the decency to make him boot-covers, for Christ's sake! That way he won't look like such a newb!

Sorry...inner-veteran LARPer to the forefront...my bad...

To start with, me and the girls went out to do a little bit of shopping, during which I indulged my need to gather lots of pretty shinies. We also checked out a new bath and beauty store that just opened up called Ulta. I have never heard of it before, but it appears to specialize in makeup, shampoo, and other such fru-fru type stuff.

...Basically, I walked in there and had NO IDEA what half the stuff in there was supposed to be used for...

YES. Outside of powder and foundation, I haven't the slightest clue how to apply my own makeup. Not even eyeshadow. Yes. I am THAT pathetic.

ANYWAY. Upon coming home and getting ourselves settled in for the evening, Jenn calls out for Mom to come and help her with her son at about 11:00 or so. The poor little guy hadn't been having a very good day. Without getting into a whole lot of detail, a weekend of full of people, friends, family, high-calorie food at abnormal times of the day, cooler weather, and epic-level excitement for the kid finally caught up with him and his system was crashing slightly in an effort to cleanse itself. Yes, there were MANY trips to the bathroom for both ends of his person ALL DAY LONG.

Finally, at about quarter to midnight, Mom comes in to the girls' room where I am to tell us that she and Jenn are bundling my nephew up and running him to the ER in Syracuse. He was white as a sheet, shaking, and miserable -- and frankly, his mother, while not quite in the same state, wouldn't have been above going in the same direction if she were a lesser human being.

At long last, at about ten to 3:00, Mom, Jenn, and nephew come home, and nephew was looking several times better than before. I guess they gave him a dose of something or another at the hospital to break the cycle and calm his stomach and fed him two popsicles to get some fluids back into him and to see if they would stay down. They did, and about fifteen minutes afterwards he started arguing with his mommy about when it was time to go home and whether or not he was fine.

...To say the least, I was hearing some pretty stark overtones of my grandfather, who HATED being taken to the doctor's.

But either way, no one was in any hurry to move much this morning. While the mothers were gone with the boy, I was charged with a) mopping the bathroom a little bit more, b) remaking Jenn's bed and running the messed bed sheets through the washer and dryer, and c) spraying down both areas to get rid of the smell. But, I was actually relieved for this. It gave me something to do so I wasn't left to sit and stew and worry about things. Either way, my head hit the pillow and I didn't remember SHIT.

Today, by contrast, the little rascal is about 90% back from his ordeal of yesterday. Tomorrow, he'll be once again reigning over his little world with all of his usual vigor and lunatic whims -- just the way he likes it.

As for me, it was just more of the same. Of course, this being the first day of September, already I'm thinking about Dad's birthday on the 6th, and then Halloween at the end of next month. lotting

Sorry, but, it's NEVER too soon to think about Halloween...!

Of course, after watching it, I was cruiously hungry.

But, I think I would have written that scene a little differently. Use of various foodstuffs not withstanding, I think I would have made the setting a private dining room of some wealthy nobleman's home instead of a public inn, and rather than waste time getting to the bedroom, just have the guy throw the table off to the side and jump on her! Gods!

Or, at least that's how I would have done it. Obviously, since that movie was made back in the 1970's, certain things just weren't allowed...

...Pussies.

Oh, and, by the by...I heard geese the other morning. Methinks it will be an early autumn.

Okay, now that I have your attention, let's get down to business, shall we...?

Shakespeare Fest is over for another year -- and for that, the vast majority of us are all VERY relieved. The costumes are being washed and stored away as we speak -- not to be seen again until the next time they are called for.

A positive highlight of this year was that this was the first year EVER where we have NOT been rained out! AT ALL...!! There was MUCH reason to rejoice for this (since it typically happens EVERY FRIGGING YEAR), as it meant I didn't have to scramble to pack up my tables in the midst of a toad-choaker...

The irony, though, is that this year's show was The Tempest. Go figure, right?

But for me personally, this was pretty successful season. For starters, I didn't feel the intensive urge to kill anyone or maim a random stranger. This, I think, was largely due to the fact that I was left alone for most of the time -- a fact that might be translated as, "I was YET AGAIN the ONLY CONSTANT VENDOR FROM START TO FINISH OF THIS SEASON."

This, in turn, might be translated to mean, "Someone got pissed off and was generous enough to share the overall mood with whoever they were trying to reel into this farce."

Basically, I was the only one up in the vendor's ring this year -- save, of course, the Cluttered Closet or whoever the hell they were. They came for one day, got pissed that they didn't make any sales, and broke contract that afternoon. Psh...newbs.

I, on the other hand, made a healthy kill this year -- not like last year, though, which was more like a one-in-a-MILLION score, but I wasn't hoping to pull that off, as nice as it would have been. All of these items sold...

It was kind of tough, though. I'm used to holding on to pieces for years and years and years before someone buys them...half of these I barely got a chance to know and ONE of them was an old favorite of mine that found a nice home with a lovely young lady...

...Hey...don't judge me, you haters...! I can be sentimental if I want to beeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...!

Altogether, before expenses, I raked in $170.00 thsi year. Afterwards, after paying Mom back, I still have $110.00 to play around with -- and given the economy these days, that's nothing to sniff at...

...Even if I DID come away with roughly TWENTY-THREE bug bites from the eight days I was out there selling wares.

I think that was the ultimate deal-breaker for me. On Sunday I made little bit more: $55.00 in all. I'd like to make at least one or two more big sales before the season is over and everything goes away for another year. Wish me luck -- I will need it...

It's also supposed to be uncomfortable as hell tomorrow...hot AND humid. But so long as I don't get bitten by more bugs and can sell a few things, THEN I think it will be worth it...I hope...

Either way, I have to shave my legs. Yippee.

So long for now...I'm bored out of my mind and I need something to amuse myself with...

Oh, and, in case you're wondering...the fifteenth chapter is in production. It's dialogue intensive, so me and Destiny have been at it virtually every afternoon working out the details. So far, it's hysterical as hell. I won't give anything away. but I suspect that a few of you will be reaching for the tissues at some point...
