Anyway, hi, probably I will be updating a lot more for a little while, or at least until 1) I run out of ideas or 2) I finish my Hetalia phase (oh how that name amuses me in relation to my own), one of which I am sure will happen eventually. Eventually. Until then, I hope you like countries.

You know, it may *seem* like I'm not drawing much, but the real truth is that I'm just not scanning it. I've got a backlog of stuff to color; I'll get around to it once I have that elusive Time again. So, instead, I'm updating this list. Goodbye, TCB, I never had any idea what to do with you anyway! It is better, I think, to concentrate on the ones that have a vague chance of real published existence. Which is not to say that any of my other many and sundry scattered ideas are useless fluff; they're just not well-thought-out enough to be of use yet. So, here they are, the two things I've got going that I maintain a certain level of confidence in.

VENTURE: Ah, the glory of the future! Where the people are wealthy and the cities are shiny. And a groundbreaking experiment is on its way to celebrating its fortieth anniversary: the only city with its own orbital pattern, the greatest of the great corporate investments, a dazzling beacon of technology and culture...the Joint Business Venture. But things are not right in Venture, and they are on the brink of a Revolution. Everybody so far: Lula Rochester, reasonably pleasant sheriff; JT Taylor, gender-befuddling mechanic; Stan O'Shea, perpetually miserable and deeply alcoholic theoretical pianist; Leon Molina, surprisingly normal revolutionary leader; Heloise Magillicuddy, neutral bar-and-gun-shop owner; Oscar Kwon, tool of the establishment and TV journalist; Yolanda, anatomically-inaccurate robot designed for strictly platonic but greatly empathic friendship; and Horace and Walter, Earth filmmakers and generally perplexing. That's a lot of everybody. Damn.

TEPOZ CANYON is not a comic, but I seem to have taken up sketching the characters (and, on occasion, setting) regardless. It contains a guy named Owen Holson (anthropologist not prone to saying much), a guy named Gary Margi (archaeologist prone to saying quite a bit), a lady possibly named Hope (possibly an etymologist of no uncertain skill), a guy named David Reikler (field doctor with medical Issues), and a lady whose name is not entirely known to me. I often feel loath to discuss it, as it is something which would be rather more difficult to create than a comic, so that's all the info you're getting. I would not mention it at all, were it not for the fact that I feel that--much like Venture--it may actually be Good. Hell, that's the only reason I mention my stuff at all; I may be self-conscious about it, but I often suspect that it is rather better than the sort of thing most teenagers come up with.

And there you go.

Because dear old Demonlog asked for one.

TELLER, CORBIN, AND BLACK (TCB)--a set of supernaturalish comedies focused around the lives of six people: Avis (lady of sunglasses, style, and purple) and Catherine Teller (brown-haired cheerful girl of orange T-shirt), Cyrus Corbin (blond inventor of sorts), Esmerelda Black (brown-hair, green clothes, very tall), Jack whose last name I have not figured out yet (vaguely Hispanic magician), and Ronok who might be called something else later (sunglassed short guy with red jacket), I don't know. Avis and Catherine are twins. Cyrus and Esmerelda are also twins. (Probably. The last name thing takes a bit of explaining.) Avis and Jack are sort of together. Esmerelda and Ronok are sort of together. Cyrus and Catherine are almost definitely together, but they're very subtle about it. To date, I have only drawn two "other" characters: Elil and Christopher Marley. They're not very important.

FEVER DREAMS--an excessively strange supernatural mystery. The cast thus far: Allison (red-haired dreamer), Greg (brown-haired boyfriend and general nice sort), Bobby who might possibly be called Jimmy (blond-haired dream figure you don't know yet). Allison is in a coma. Probably. There's a storm going on, and Greg can't get her to the hospital for reasons which I have not disclosed but are pretty interesting. You shouldn't know Bobby yet. I'm sure once I figure out what exactly is happening here, it will become extremely interesting.

SHATTERED--a hideously depressing tragedy. Featuring: Peter (blond-haired, middle-aged man), Jessie (shy, curly-haired girl), John (charming, attractive brother of Jessie), Chastity (high-on-life assassin), Prudence (other assassin, not so much high-on-life, fond of Victorian dress), and Susannah (quiet, blonde daughter of Peter). So far you shouldn't know Jessie or Susannah.

the tentatively titled JOIE DE VIVRE--a ridiculously sweet and silly romantic comedy. Characters: Beth and Gary Forrester (blissfully happy married couple). He's a writer, she's a painter. Hilarity completely fails to ensue, but it's very sweet and silly nonetheless.

A THOUSAND SUNS--a strange romantic drama. Names to remember: Torrin (vaguely amiable black-haired bodyguard), Nora (braided, remarkably calm writer of fascinating essays on feminism, politics, and the education system), Domina Mahara (insanely popular and brilliant revolutionary preacher/politician). Torrin is one of Mahara's bodyguards. Nora has been in Mahara's group of friends and supporters for years. It's pretty much inevitable, then, that they fall in the kind of love that almost always ends in tears. They don't seem to care, though. Allegedly science fiction. (I mean, what kind of science fiction stays on one planet and never meets any alien races and doesn't have any insanely advanced technology? This kind, I guess.) You don't know Mahara yet.

That....would be it. I'm sure there will be others, eventually.

Dear Lord, I hope not. This is too many as it is.

In a moment of sheer stupidity, I have to write a several-page essay comparing the movie and novel versions of The Fellowship of the Ring. The essay must include a review for each and a description of the setting and characters. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. I can wax poetic on LotR. And that's exactly why I'm so worried.
The paper is due tomorrow. I have written maybe a page of it, and I still haven't gotten to the character descriptions. I found out yesterday that writing this paper is physically draining. If I do the rest in one night (and I have to) I'll be essentially braindead. Good Lord, I'm an idiot. *bangs head on desk*

Master & Commander....a damn good movie! I hate Russell Crowe slightly less now, and Paul Bettany is almost ridiculously suited to his role. My only real complaints? The theater I saw it in was too grainy and kind of low-quality. Also there wasn't enough Billy Boyd

For reasons which elude me, I started playing Baldur's Gate today. Boo rocks my socks.

The aforementioned "project due on Monday" has been turned in and hopefully looks as though it will get a passing grade.

I auditioned for the school play. Damn, I'm stupid. Sure, it's a life-enriching experience, and I love acting, and it's a musical so I get to sing, and I had a great time with it last year, but it reduces free time considerably If, by the unlikely chance that you have either seen the play or movie of "The Music Man", could you tell me what it's like? I tried out for Marion....

Muuuu! Ah, school. Big poster project due Monday and I haven't started it yet. Long succession of papers and I've only done the rough draft for the first. Man, I'm good.

Master & Commander comes out tomorrow! Happy yayness of eternal joy! Why am I so excited about it? Well....three reasons, really.

One. Billy Boyd's in it. I have much love for the Pippin, yes I do.

Two. My mom's nuts over the books, and has graciously volunteered to get tickets for me and her to see it on opening night. I need to see at least one movie on opening night in my life, dammit!

Three. There's a surprisingly good chance that this movie will be nominated for Best Picture this year. There is also a good chance that it will WIN, beating out Return of the King. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will....so I may as well see Master & Commander before deciding to hate it forever based on it beating the favorite for an award.

On an entirely unrelated note, green onion pancakes are delicious.

Today I feel like pimpin', so here it goes. [link] is one of the best freakin' webcomics out there. Worship the Comic. Is It Not Nifty? Worship the Comic. Everything from bunnies with switchblades to freelance bums to xenomorphs to "Just Plain Weird". You WILL worship the comic. It is the embodiment of niftiness. Except perhaps for mesh-bath sponges. Those things are pretty damn nifty.

Currently Sluggy is undergoing a week of filler strips; so what you see on the main page isn't quite the same as what the rest of the archives are like. The humor is similar, though.
