Things to do:
Move with wife to Hawaii
Get Housing from my army unit (Tropic Lightning!)
Get my household goods to hawaii
Get used to life in new unit
Make sure paperwork and such are in order for $$ and other reasons
Maintain good shape (They will kick you out of army if not in good form)

Fort Jackson was fun. But now I'm in sunny Fort Huachuca for my AIT.

As for Fire Team Charlie, it'll probably be on hold. I want to pass the AIT and I'll end up editing it.

Yes, I may end up editing it down the road. But I'm just glad it's done.

That said, I enlisted in the US Army and will be sent to BCT at the end of this month. Hopefully in March, I'll be able to get back on here again.

However, two things have caused me to concerned about the my beloved cartoon and it's fandom.

1) the shipping wars
2) Nick's handling of the cartoon

I'll start with the latter.

When I heard about the book (you know which one) being released before any new episodes have aired, I wondered how can anyone make such an huge mistake. But then, I thought some more and realized that it wasn't out of character for Nick to do something like that to Avatar.

Think back to the KCA of 2007 and Avatar being nominated for best cartoon of the year. Oh that's right...it wasn't nominated. Simpsons along with another non-Nick cartoon got nominated. Not avatar. And when Avatar was nominated this year, they didn't have it the big hoopla that they normally do for best cartoon. Instead, it was posted the website with little fanfare as the KCA went on with the rest of the awards.

So we have Avatar not getting nominated in the KCA in 2007, barely mentioned if at all at the KCA in 2008, a DVD that contains yet to air episodes being sold months before new episodes, and now a book with ending of the series on sale as well.

Other things to add to the list are: Nick advertising new episodes only to not air them, lack of/little merchandise there are for Avatar (as opposed to Spongebob), no new episodes have aired even though the season was wrapped up back in October or earlier, and the way that Nick appears to treat other good cartoons and their creators such as Butch Hartman (RIP Danny Phantom).

Given all these things, I'm lead to this conclusion: Someone, probably a higher-up, in undermining Avatar on purpose!

I know it seems a bit paranoid, but the other theories is that it's just a long list of mistakes or is trying to milk as much as they can out of the show. But if they are mistakes, those are far too many mistakes. If someone did that many mistakes on a hit show, they wouldn't have a job anymore. And if they wanted to milk Avatar, where's all the publicity? Why isn't there commercials advertising the new episodes or brand new toys and action figures for Avatar. Yes, we were promised a movie, but so were Halo fans and Justice League fans and who knows when, or if, those films will come out.

In short, I still believe that someone at Nick is trying to kill Avatar.

Now as a result of the DVD and the book, the shipping wars has gotten out of hand. One group is unhappy with the ending while the other side celebrates like it's fat tuesday. It's the losing side that worries me. I can understand being upset that the ending isn't what you hoped for for your ship. Fine, vent all you want. But to bash on the creators b/c your ship isn't canon, to say that they can't tell a good story, and to demand a re-write b/c you didn't like the ending strikes me as petty and selfish.

Before I go on, it should be clear by now that I'm clearly talking about the militant wing of that side, who bear a resemblance to the militant wing of Harry/Hermoine shippers. Clearly, not everyone on that side perform these deeds. But they are the most vocal, both here and on LJ.

Granted, creators can screw up with their works (Cough::LUCAS::cough). But since they are the ones in charge, I'll submit to their storytelling. Besides, there is nothing in the book (yes I've read the book and, before that, the spoilers) that seems to indicate that the story is below par with the rest of the series. Also, although it was written in a book, I'm sure seeing it on the air will out do anything that was in the book.
