Hey all,
    It's been a rather long time since this club moved through the wilderness. I'm afraid I didn't have the time to be here. I'm not sure if I can revive this club either. I need to know how many out there are still want to be actively apart of this club.

    I do mean more than just sending submissions in, this is a place for deviants of Tasmania to be in communication and as well as availability towards each other. In basic terms entering contests, sharing local art events, other sorts of advertisements.

    I don't have much faith though, because I know the last time I tried this it slowly died. So my motivational tolerance isn't all that high this time round. But I'll give it another attempt!

:new: So abit of a mix-match of responses. Do you all consider writing a traditional art form? Because we could always have a Traditional Art / Writing Contest. Where you have the choice of either drawing or writing. Its really up to you people?

To keep the flow going here at the club. Do you have any ideas for the next contest? I've had one yesterday in the wee hours of the morning from *dunasmelly

It is clear that photography dominates a large chunk of this club. It would be great to see the more Traditional Art have a fair go. So it's been suggested the next contest should be solely for the Traditional Medium. Get all your hands on creative juices flowing! There already is a few members who are strong in the area but I'm sure theres a few others hiding in the membership.

~BrentJago suggests we have a writing competition. Can be based on Tasmanian, living in Tas, Tasmania value/spirit. Within any style prose, poetry or even essay. Its really worth considering. Everyone can write its just none of us are willing until prompted?

Any thoughts? Other ideas? I usually try to make the contest available for all mediums to enter. But its really up to you lot lol I just set it up ^_^

Either way it's good to see there are more people using the gallery submission option. Instead of our usual 4 members lol Great to have a bit of variety outside of photography ^^ So keep sending the club your work and I'll add it to the gallery.

Yeah i know im slack.. i keep getting told that :P

*littlepinkelephants has volunteered to help me with the launnie devmeet and this is the info we have come up with

Date: Saturday 8th of December
Where: Royal Park opposite LC and TAFE
Time: 1pm sound ok???
Who to look for: A girl sitting there like a loner with really really long hair and a little pink elephant :giggle: ( i will get shot for that *hides*)

I still need help with the other 2.. ort should i just organise one at a time??? i need feedback or i can try to please you all ( and not in a dirty way!)

i need your help people to ensure we have successful devmeets.

i will be organising 3 different ones again ( Launceston, Burnie and Hobart) but all on different days.

so i need you all that are interested in the devmeets to answer these few questions.

NOTICE: About Joining this club

For all potential members of this club, i would like to point out that we do have methods for joining up!! Over the last month or so I've had people :+devwatch: the club but received no note asking to join up. Therefore I would like to suggest reading our journal on "How to Join" before you do anything. By following the guide lines you'll find there you'll save me lots of time, confusion and needless searching through lists to try and figure out if you're a member already or if you're wanting to join up.

Also, for members already watching us, note the club titled "watch me" if we aren't watching you still :P it's hard to keep up with who we have and haven't watched and will take way too long to find out. :D Plus another reminder for those who we're watching but aren't watching us yet. =P

Only a few updates to go through this time round.

Dev Meets are happening This Coming Saturday! August 11th More information further down. Tell us if your coming so it can be a good day. If you can't show up don't worry, more meets will happen over the next few months.
Lets hope it doesn't rain! Mind you it is Tasmania, with our 4 seasons in one day...

The club had a slight member hiccup. Please let us know if the club is not watching you. This is mainly for the most recent members. Well... If you've been with us for ages and we still aren't watching you. Better tell us.

DevMeet - Hobart!
Nothing to do this weekend? Want to meet new people? We have had a request for a devmeet this weekend. So here goes for the information:

Where?
Hobart, Parliament Square (near Salamanca)

When?
Friday 15th ,Saturday 16th, or Sunday 17th of June (this current week) maybe see who can make what day and hold it then. (please let us know so we can edit this asap)

Time: 11:30 am till say 3:00pm (longer for those who who want to hang around longer)

What will be happening?
A get-together of peeps from DA! Get to knowing other artist on DA and having a fun time. SO bring your arty farty stuff (sketchbooks, poetry, cameras) and probable some food to share.

Please let us know asap if you are able to attend. I will be organising more devmeets around Tasmania next week. so if you are unable to make it this week you may be able to make it to the next one :)

Great news everyone! The TassieRocks chatroom is open and fully operational.

So come on in! It might be a slow start, but hang around more people will come. If you don't stay that means the next person won't stay. Where eventually 10 people could have been in the room together.

All we ask is you keep it clean and civil. There are younger people here and a lot of people like to keep clean anyway. So show respect for all members in the room.

You are able to post thumbs in the room. We are also looking for chatroom staff, they won't have access to the club in any form. Just the power to kick trouble makers out of the chatroom.


There hasn't been any contest submissions yet. Come on Tasmanians!

New/former Admin *lowey666 has joined us. She was an admin for TassieDevils and knows many Tassie peeps. She will also be taking care of dev meet information and various other activities.

Yep you guessed it the club is now subscribed! Would like to personally thank our founder *lost-in-burnie for buying the subscription. I'm not sure if I pestered him to do it, or he just decided to put some money in.

Since I'm (=DruidWu) on holidays, I had some spare time kicking around to make the journal style. I was making one for myself lol But oh well club first hehe. Full credit can not go to me though. The CSS coding for the overall design/architecture is borrowed from *Lilyas FairyTale Template. Theres a few minor code adjustments, but all the same its her design.

Hope you all like the colour.

This also gives the opportunity to have Journal Features/Member of the Week. So stay tuned for that. Shout box is also opened and a chatroom will be opened next week.

We are now affiliated with *crikey which is a huge Australian based club. They hold a lot of information relating to devmeets and various activities around the country. Which may be of benefit to you all.

  • Well I can safely say we are up and moving, like a baby taking its first steps to an open armed parent. Staggeringly but good.



  • It is great to see some people are using the ability to submit artwork to the club gallery. I hope other members are checking out artwork that comes in, and giving feedback to those people. No you don't have to. But support is always great.

  • When ~Meggzie comes back from her trip to Kakadu, lucky girl getting away from the Tassie freezer ^_^. She will be sending out introductory notes to Tasmanians that aren't apart of our club. There has to be more active ones out there, so feel free to suggest people here and we will send out a note.



  • A special thanks to ~hoocon01 for keeping up with everyones new artwork and :+fav:ing a random few. It would be a little time consuming considering this club doesn't have a subscription and she would have to view each individually. So thanks for spending the time!



  • Our founder *lost-in-burnie has been making some nifty pieces of artwork lately so go over and check them out.



Holidays

  • Holidays are happening statewide over the next few weeks. TAFE Launceston City never seems to keep the same holiday pattern lol This year they made it so we have all of June off. How that works is rather pointless explaining...



  • Either way Holidays are a good time to set up dev meets. If you have a suggestion or would like to set up a dev meet in your area let us know; and we can get the word out for you.



Contest Ideas

  • Plan B of getting this club alive is to run a contest. But what?



  • I'm after a good suggestion to kick off the contests with. No suggestion is a bad one. It could be related to a type of theme, colour, idea, concept or just something words cannot describe. Usually the first contest is to make a new club ID. But you are all apart of this club what do you reckon?



  • Secondly we need to consider prizes. I'm no Bill Gates so a subscription is out for me, but it may not be for someone who is generous. I can offer little things like a feature in my journal, maybe an emote or a stamp etc. You will however become the Feature artwork here until the end of the next contest.



  • So if you have something to offer as a club prize feel free to offer. Even if its something minor. Makes it all worthwhile

Yep we are reviving the TassieRocks club. I know I know again. But hopefully we can at least push this club to the top of some hill, over the edge and get enough momentum to get the engine running.

2. having another go at deevmeets! This time though it would be cool for someone in each area (north, south and northwest) to organise them as they will know the area pretty well. got any ideas note my normal account *lost-in-burnie

four of us in Ulverstone and one wasn't a deviant, and another not a member of the page

three of us in Launceston, one was not a member of this page

Just me in Hobart. i sat in the gardens with my carton of beer for and hour and a half bymyself, hoping that someone would show.

there were some who walked passed who could've been deviants, but they didn't fucking stop!

So a Happy fucking Christmas to all of you too!!!!

The north west is currently winning in the biggest turn outs for the meets! we need as many as possible near the main entrance of the Botanical Gardens at 4 pm on Wednesday!!!! Please be there!!!

Second: Ulverstone 16th December under the Rocket in the Rocket Park at 4pm

Launceston 18th December 4 pm at the cafe outside the Inveresk Railyards and Queen Vic Museum (that way we can look at ArtRage) {this is now set in concrete}

20th December Hobart Botanical gardens 5 pm Near the main gates and reception rooms.


We're still making a big push for memberships, so if you know someone or see someone from Tazzie that's on DA, tell them to get their buts here n drop us a line...:D...

~Meggzie is now going to be helping with the organisational side of things, and we'd like to make a big push for membership. try to get seomthings happening around the state.

until today i was un aware of a much larger and more active group of Tasmanians who even have their own chat thread becasue there are so mand Tasweigens out there blasting it out on DA!
