I'm reading a lot of Neil Gaiman, depressed over Stephenie Meyer's 'the Host' (why oh why can't I have those hours of my life back; and you thought Twilight was bad) and loving Coldplay and Aimee Mann's new albums. My two favorite vocalists! Also, Thumbelina is my new favorite movie. I re-discovered it, after not having watched it for about 6 years. I think Don Bluth is just a genius in general, I looked him up on Wikipedia and it turns out he's directed ALL my favorite animated movies. Well, he and Mr. Miyazaki.

4. I collect stationary and LOVE writing letters to people with them. So much cooler and more personal than e-mail.
5. I once got an A on an english paper AND beat Tyler at DDR on the same day. Guess which one inflated my ego more.
6. I love hats <3 I like decorating them, wearing them, talking about them, ect.
7. I'm quite obsessed with Death Note but I hate talking about it BECAUSE I'M NOT A JAPANOPHILE WANNABE and people automatically tune me out the second I say 'manga.' I don't like it JUST BECAUSE IT'S ANIME/MANGA. I read/watch it because I like the PLOT and the CHARACTERS. Kthx.

1) I am more addicted to tea than coffee, believe it or not. Celestial Seasonings, specifically. Peppermint is my favorite <3 I go through boxes of that stuff.


2) I don't think roses are an accurate display of love. I mean, roses are really pretty and smell nice, but I'd rather a guy get me my favorite kind of flower instead of just roses. It feels a lot more personal to me. If the guy REALLY wants to impress me he can get me a potato or a large amount of chocolate, but thats another story.


3) I am LITERALLY a music addict. When I'm not listening to it, I'm thinking about it constantly. I hear it in my head, and I go crazy if I have to go a whole day without listening to it. Music and singing are just the world to me.


4) I have a VERY long list of phobias (think Monk-ishly long) and probably the most bizarre one is a fear of holes grouped together. Like, beehive patterns, wasp nest patterns, or boils/scars on skin...it freaks me out like you have NO idea, it's probably one of my most severe phobias too. And my mother gave me these really cool pencils - they're made out of chinese newspaper! It's rolled so tightly that it acts, feels and looks almost exactly like wood, you can even use them with pencil sharpeners! They're very awesome, I'm enjoying them.
School is torture as always, I hate essays with a burning passion. But ah well.

I'm kicking some ass in Guild Wars, mostly because Kristy's awesome enough to save my ass at the last minute. I CAN'T HELP IT IF THE HENCHIES SUCK AND DIE EASILY. I miss Nightfall, but I hear from a secret source that I should be expecting it sometime soon o_O
Factions is amazing from a design aspect, and I LOVE the costumes, but the quests are like. Ack. But I'm just delighted that I get Guild Wars for free so I'm totally not complaining.

I also officially dropped French class. I just couldn't take it anymore, I have no passion for the language and chances are that I'm not going there. So I switched to German. Or rather, I'm going to. Wish me luck. -__-

I've been making it a habit to buy myself flowers every week after art class. It's such a cheer-up Plus the guy at the cash register is gorgeous. But thats just a perk.

1. It literally, seriously makes me want to cry when my friends think they're fat. None of them are, and I get angry at them and myself because they're too caught up in it to realize that they're a good weight as it is, and because I can't think of anything to make them shut up and listen.

I did one illustration that I really like yesterday, I might post it, but art thieves will even steal crappy stuff these days so I'm a little on edge about that.

I'm working on a few photography projects for French class, which is actually really fun. The only problem, and it's a big one, is that I need models. It's basically that I get a short story in French, I have to translate it, then create a series of photos to portray it. It'll all be really high-fashion stuff. I have no idea where I'll get any models though. There's also the problem of my camera, which is acting out A LOT. I need to write or call Sony and bitch at them; apparently it's a common problem with their cameras where the screen freaks out and flashes different colors or blacks out completely?

This week has been slightly different from the others so far, which is a lovely improvement. I wonder why.
Mom made blueberry muffins this morning, which was very nice of her, I must say!

I was looking around my room and was disappointed to realize that I have so many picture frames, and hardly any photos to put in them. I must fix this. Empty picture frames are so very depressing.

I really want to go visit my grandmother, so badly. But I hate going with my mom, because I feel so ridiculous talking to a gravestone. I feel pressured to do it, and it feels like we're supposed to get all sappy and blubbery. But if I'm alone, I can talk to whatever I like; trees, rocks, sticks. I'm sure Gram still gets the message. And I don't have to feel guilty if I don't cry. Ugh, why didn't I get my license when I had the chance. I just never felt any reason to; I never went anywhere until this summer. I guess I'll have to get cracking on that.

It sounds so very like something a high schooler would say, I "like" somebody, but I'm not sure how else to say it. I feel romantic affection for somebody? No, thats too long. I wish there were better words for it. I feel slightly worried though, because for once, I feel like I'll get scared and not do a thing about it. In the past, every time I've done something about it, it turned out so horrible. And I'm so pathetic when I'm smitten, just ask Kristy.
Smitten! Thats a lovely word for it.

In other news, Pushing Daisies tomorrow night! I've fallen in love with the series, it's so quirky and funny. Strange, no. Eccentric, maybe.

Also, I'm working on a large scrapbook-type thing. I've been working on it in art class. Maybe I'll post some pictures if I like how it turns out.

10 Things Somebody With A Crush On You Would Like to Know.

1. What are the top three things you would hate on a date?

Er...never really thought about that...I guess, making me talk the whole time would be one, talking only about yourself would be another...Oh, and spending the whole time pointing out your own shortcomings. If you're good at something, you don't have to be egotistical about it, just acknowledge that you don't suck at it. Do you WANT me to think you suck? No, I thought not. Oh and don't like...murder me. That would be Secret Hidden Answer #4.


2. If they were to surprise you with flowers, what would you prefer?

Tulips or poppies, hands down. Any color. But if they're not in season, Iris's and Daisies are gorgeous too. Just not roses. Roses are lovely, but they're also rather unimaginative.

Oh god lmfao. Gummy worms, Trolli Sour Gummy Worms, Pixie Stix or Hershy Kisses.

4. Where would you want to go on a date?

Someplace really pretty...like a garden, or a lake. Or apple picking! That would be a dream date of mine, apple picking. Oooo or a toy store! THAT would be perfect too. I hate movies for dates though. I mean, it's great to go see a movie together, but not as a romantic date. Thats more of a fun date. You can't talk or even see each other the whole time, how're you supposed to get to know each other?

Err...I really have no idea, that probably depends on the people. If you're really lucky, you'll both make a move at the same time. Lmfao

Certainly, but it's very easily confused with lust. If you truly love somebody, you would only want them to be happy, even if it meant them not being with you. You'd be able to let them go.

7. What're your favorite colors?

All shades of green, orange, brown and red. I can handle pretty much any color except hot pink.

8. What about gifts?

Hm...well, I'm not that picky, really. I like journals, stuffed animals, picture frames, tea, hair clips...OH and I love gum ball machine trinkets. Like those sticky hands, bouncy balls, cheap jewelry, action figures, stuff like that. I never really wear bracelets though; only rings and sometimes necklaces.

9. What would be a good, subtle way for them to tell you they like you?

Well, I'm sure they could think of something original, but nothing fancy, I guess. A nice note, candy, or something cute like hand-picked flowers. Or leafs, if its Autumn. No need to be flashy, ya know? Or if you're REALLY shy you could slip something in the person's bag. *shrugs* It really depends on the person.

You been besides me just telling them that I like them too? lmfao. I don't know, I'm horrible at flirting and usually end up acting like a complete idiot. You will need:
1 small, soft tortilla (or more, depending how many you're making these for)
Cool Whip
One Granny Smith green apple (one half of an apple is good for two of these tortillas)
Cinnamon
Sugar
Butter

Directions:
Get out a frying pan, any size as long as the whole tortilla fits in it without having to be folded.
Fry the tortilla LIGHTLY, depending on how crispy or soft you like it, in the butter at a temperature of medium-low.
Once it's fried to your satisfaction, take it out of the pan and place it on a plate on top of a paper towel or napkin (to soak up any access butter.) While it sits there, fill a separate plate with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Make sure they're well mixed.
When your tortilla is cooled off, take it and put it in the cinnamon/sugar mixture, patting it down and flipping it over so that both sides are covered in the mixture.
Put it on a new plate, and spread a hefty amount of cool whip on once side of the tortilla. Think of the tortilla as a pizza; the Cool Whip is your sauce, basically.
Get out your green apple, and shave the peeling off. Make sure it's nice and washed off!
Get out a grater and grate the apple until you have enough shavings to cover most of the Cool Whip. Drizzle these apple shavings onto the Cool Whip.
If you wish, you can add more of the cinnamon/sugar mixture onto the apple shavings and Cool Whip.
Roll the tortilla up, and put in the fridge for roughly 10-15 minutes. Then, enjoy!

It's been a while since one of my own photos has just completely wowed me; it doesn't help that my brand-frigging-new camera has decided to freak out on me. Anybody else have any problems with Sony Cybershots? They seem to have gotten great reviews until I got one *rolls eyes*

In other news - I FINISHED DEATHLY HALLOWS. Technically I finished it 2 days ago but I didn't post anything about it. Oh man, I did some serious crying on that one. I won't give anything away, in case some haven't finished it yet, but jeez.

I wish I didn't live in such a remote town; I LOVE taking pictures of random people doing random things, but THERES NOBODY INTERESTING HERE, and without a car or license, it's difficult to go anywhere else. I'll probably take my camera to art class when I get back in 2 weeks though.

Following that note, I'll be out of town starting on the 29th; I'll have my laptop with me, so I'll still update occasionally, but only when I can. The internet connection up there is dodgy.

Mkay. Starting things off, what really started YOU off drawing?

Horses. I was obsessed with horses when I was very little and I wanted to draw them for whatever reason, so I started drawing them from photos and stuff xD. I felt like i was good at it so I just kept up with drawing and eventually branched out.. lol.

What really inspires you to start a drawing?

Ahaha uhm, a lot of things can inspire me. Most of the time it's other people's art. I'll see something really awesome and it just gets me 'in the mood' if you will. There's also music, and books of course. I like to illustrate (obviously) so anything that has characters and does not have established designs, i.e. musicals or books, i like to see if I can get my mental image of the character down on paper.

Is there any one piece that you're ridiculously proud of?

...not really. I still like [link] from two years ago, though. And I do feel proud of some of the fanart I've done, and I'm very happy (at least for now) with the last few original deviations I've done, but there's not really any that I feel like "OH yes this is my best work EVAH".

Is there a one piece that you'd like to go back and change?

There's hundreds of pieces I would like to go back and change xD. But that's what comes with improvement.. your eyes get trained to see more mistakes as time goes on. So I'm kinna glad that there's so many that I want to fix and change.

What challenges do you find especially...challenging...when working on a piece of art?

Backgrouds-- I'm dreadful at those and haven't nearly practiced them enough. Uhh.. anything non-organic. Things with strait edges do not like me. Buuut that's because I've hardly practiced them so *shrug* I can't expect it to not be challenging lol.

Have real-life events ever inspired any of your drawings?

Well yes and no.. little things from real life will have their influence, sure, especially in some of the humor. But then most pictures are fan art and therefore.. inspired by the thing I'm fangirling x).

Have you ever branched out into other mediums of art, or want to?

I sing too . But other than that.. I'm really not a fan of art other than illustration x). I don't like writing or poetry or sculpture or more abstract kinds of painting.. heh, besides the fact that I draw, I'm not very 'artsy' at all.

How long does it generally take to finish a drawing?

It depends. Sketching and stuff can take anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours. If I color it, it takes at least 3 hours (unless it's just flat colors). Commission type pictures with backgrounds can take around 15-20 hours total.

What are you working to achieve in this field?

I want to go into concept art eventually, but I'm also interested in animation and storyboarding. I want to be good enough to where companies will fight over me x).

How do you see yourself when it comes to your art?

I'd consider myself an illustrator more than anything. I like to draw things that have a personality that I know.. and since I'm not exactly bursting with my own stories like I was when I was younger, I like to draw other people's . Or at least try to put pictures with an idea. I want to make sure I'm always improving too though, which inevitably I have to do with my own research.. I don't know how that connects to what I just said but.. whatever x). Like I said, I want to do this professionaly so I'm always sort of thinking about building a portfolio.. but I draw a lot on impulse of course x). But hey, it's practice, so if I want to draw something, I'm not going to stop myself just because it may not be a portfolio piece or whatev.

What, in your opinion, makes a good piece of art?

Something you'll want to come back to and look at again and again, either because it's that pretty or that exciting or just interesting. And a good piece of art takes actual talent and skill to make; something more than a convoluted bullshit reason for why we should appreciate random splatters and shapes any three year old or someone with a large amount of patience could make.

Any advice for any aspiring young'ins out there?

1) I can do a lot of voice impersonations, mainly Disney characters.

2) I hate it when people laugh and put a hand over their mouth, like they're hiding it. Bursting out laughing uncontrollably doesn't kill you!

4) After I wake up, my dreams carry on for a while; once, I woke up, and I paced my room for about 15 minutes while laughing murderously and plotting to kill Harry Potter.

.How do you see yourself when it comes to your art?

uhm... just as an amateur desperately trying to become professional. I'm not even pretending to think of myself as an artists.


.Is there one piece that you're especially proud of?

Yeah, tons of. But mostly old ones to. When it's "fresh" I tend to hate them to death. Sometimes when I go back in my gallery and find works of 3 or 4 years ago my first thought is something like "Ohmygod, I could I manage to do this? I would never be able now!". One of my favourite is a fanart I've done for a fanfic of a friend of mine... It's Bellatrix (from Harry potter) walking through a corridor in a dim ligh, I still like it madly, the colours, the fake perspective, the mood.... everything. Of course the proportions are a bit off...

.Is there a piece that you'd like to go back and change?

uhm... about each one you can find in my gallery. Even my faves. But I'm way tooo lazy to take them and change something....

.What do you find challenging when it comes to your art?

When I find some work/artist I really like. I'm really competitive and each time I find someone appealing I want to find out if I could do something better. That's how I improved, I think. Luckily my best friends are just like me, and I get inspired by their works and they gets inspired by mine. it's wonderful when it's like this.

.Have real-life events ever inspired your drawings?

dunno, maybe in a very subtle way... A lot of my mood is in my drawings but I usually live in my own fantasy world, so real life is not in my works.

.Have you ever branched out into other mediums of art?

yeah, I do get bored soon so I've tried about everything is slightly "artistic". I've been acting (I was even good at it, but I got bored soon), sculpting just once, ceramic, sewing clothes, oil painting (remember me to NEVER do it again), patchwork, glass painting, mosaics.... and just name something and I probably have done it at least once to try it out.

.Are there any forms of art (sculpting, painting, writing, ect.) that you'd like to try out?

uhm... play the piano? I'm totally hopeless at everything concerning music and musical instruments but I'd really love. I'm never going to take again a chisel in hands (sculpting is too tiring for me), I'm totally unable in writing... and I already paint.

.What kinds of things really motivate you to start a drawing?

Nothing interesting on tv. That's how my best works starts. Really.

.Any goals that you're working to achieve in this field?

I'd like to colour a serious comic for france, and maybe then work for marvel as colourist. I'm already working for the first one, I hope to do something the next year.

.In your point of view, what makes a good piece of art?

Mood and tecnique. A piece of art does't need anything else. mood without tecnique is nothing, tecnique without feelings is useless.

.Any personal advice that you'd like to share with fellow artists?

Yeah: be envious. Someone said to me that envy is the most constructive of the deadly sins, it takes you to work better and to improve yourself. And I think it's true. So, go out, look a lot of great artists, hate them, study and try to steal their secrets and learn from them.

Starting off, what really inspired you to start drawing, in the beginning?

I wouldn't really be able to tell, because I've been drawing ever since I've been old enough to hold a pencil. I wasn't really "into" drawing, though. I was drawing on and off, like kids do, in art classes and now and then when I felt like painting or so. I "really" started drawing on a regular basis when I discovered mangas thanks to my little sister. I liked the style, it was so dynamic, and it got me to drawing as a regular hobby, no longer once in a while.



Is there one piece that you’re especially proud of?


Actually, yes, but they're not the ones you will see in my online gallery. There's that clown I drew for my mum when I was three or four. She still keeps it framed on her desk! There's also one drawing that got me top grades in art class when I was 14 or 15. Or a watercolour of a boat I painted with my grand-father. They're not great quality drawings, but they've got sentimental value. They look nothing like what I do today. What I do today is more personal and I'm never completely happy with it.


Is there a piece that you’d like to go back and change?


Most of the works I drew since I got "serious" with drawing, actually! I'm the perfectionist type. I'm never happy with a finished picture. I can always find a hundred mistakes that I would like to correct, from anatomy to colour choices and shadows. But I loose interest in old works quickly and I never get around to re-work on them - it would be hard anyway since I work with traditional media on paper, not the easiest media to make touch-ups!


What do you find challenging when it comes to your art?


Creating something new when everything has already been done? It's both challenging and disheartening. But I like giving my own interpretation of something. I also find challenging to try and work out a distinctive style.


Have real-life events ever inspired your drawings?


Yes and no. I don't have any works directly based on real-life events. But my drawings are inspired of my personality, of how I feel, and of what's going on with my life. I mostly draw illustrations that don't serve any particular purpose, they just mainly reflect my own take on things and that's necessarily influenced by what has happened and is happening to me.


Have you ever branched out into other mediums of art?


I've acted in a theater group for over ten years. I don't know whether school theater groups actually are art, though! I wasn't even a good actress, but I was a good director. I've also danced for about four or five years. I wasn't a good dancer either. I've modelled for photography a couple of times. I've designed and sewn dresses for a fashion show. But most of that stuff was for school projects or such, I don't think they really count as "art"!


Are there any forms of art (sculpting, painting, writing, ect.) that you’d like to try out?


I think I'd like sculpting, but halas, I have no room in my flat for something as space-consuming! Maybe I should go for miniaturized sculpting, like people who sculpt on rice seeds...!


What kinds of things really motivate you to start a drawing?


I generally don't need motivation for drawing. I don't have much free time and I can't draw as much as I would like. So once every couple of week I have such a urge to draw that I start a drawing and don't do anything else until it's finished. It's not for drawing that I need motivation, it's for doing something else than drawing! xD;;


How long, on average, does it take you to completely finish a drawing?


It all depends when you consider that a drawing starts. If you consider that it's when the idea takes shape, it can take several days or weeks, or even months... But as for the drawing in itself, generally from 5 to 20 hours. Most of the time I work on a drawing in one session, or two. It's rare that I work on a drawing in several parts. When I do, it generally takes me months to complete the drawing, because I get stuck anytime I must get back to it. That's what happens with commissions.


How do you see yourself when it comes to your art?


Really not as an artist. For me an artist is the kind of person that makes those amazing, deep, meaningful pieces of art that deserve a place in a museum. I'm an illustrator, that's all good to me. E: Is there one photo that you're especially proud of?
K: I dont think I could pick one - Im quite Pround of .Help. just because at first I wasnt sure of it, but now I love it, Plus the reaction of the people has been amazing.

E: What do you aim for, when you're taking a photo?
K: Usually I have a set idea in mind that I plan before I go and take anything, and then I just try and improvise, and basically see what I come up with. I usually try and look for colour or shadow (when using black and white)

E: In your opinion, what makes a good photo?
K: Well first off I think its very important that you really like it, I cant really say what makes a good photo because everyone has different taste and opinions, just try and take photos for yourself and someone else will like them.

E: Your gummy bear photos seem to be some of the most popular. How did you
come up with that?
K: Thank you. I came across one piece of gummy bear work a long long time ago on deviantart and it inspired me, I just thought there was so much potential to do anything with them, an they are such great models!

E: Is there a photo that you'd like to go back and do differently?
K: I think because I feel like I have leant so much in the last year, I would like to go back so some of the places I have visited and Improve my photos from there.

E: How do you see yourself as an artist?
K: I think I have improved also from my first work submissions, and I think I still have a long way to go, but right now im pleased with the work im doing at the moment, But I try to see myself and a colourful fun artist who isnt affraid to tackle difficult subjects.

E: What kinds of things really motivate you to take a photo?
K: Oh This is another hard question to answer, Beauty is one, if something is beautiful I like to capture it and share with others (i also try and find the hidden beauty in things) - I like to try and Capture things that give an emotion or a reaction to.

E: Any goals that you're working to achieve in this field?
K: At the moment I have a Few more gummy bear photos in the works and also some mask shots, but at the moment Im just trying to take photos that I hope people will like and enjoy.

E: Are there other mediums of art that you would like to try someday, or
are interested in?
K: I do like some Photomanipulation, and have tried small amounts of it, with even smaller amount of sucsess I do like drawing and painting but photography is my main outlet.

E: Any personal advice that you'd like to share with your fellow artists?
K: Just enjoy what you are doing and be confident in your work - if you like it there is a great chance other people will. Dont be disheartened if you dont get the reaction you want straight away just keep at it.

E: If you could describe your artistic sense in three words, what would
they be?
K: Oh Thats Hard... Colourful, Fun and Improving
