The news article was about a family in the UK who lost their Partner/Father. He left behind his girlfriend and 3 young children. The reaction from her was one of anger towards the Prime Minister, and blamed the death on him. Similar cases are all blaming the Prime Minister for the deaths of sons/daughters/fathers/mothers. Now I don't want to come across as a cold, heartless bastard, I mean yeah, it's very sad when somebody loses a family member like that and I sympathise with them (Here's the But)...

But...
...what the hell do these people think the military is? You don't join the military to play in a padded room with plastic guns. I hate to be the person bringing this shocking information to the public, but they are there primarily to... wait for it... FIGHT and there is a possibility that they might DIE .

In this country you're not forced to join, you do so at your own risk, and as soon as you sign your name, you are essentially signing your life away.

Now I'm not saying that I agree with the Prime Minister's reasons for going to war in situations like in Iraq, that's another matter, but hey, if you're in the military, and you're told to go and fight or enter a hostile environment, that is what you are signed up and paid for, no questions asked.

So the point I'm getting to is that it is no one's fault except their own. Families like that need to come to terms with what their loved one's role is, and either accept it, or persuade/discuss leaving and getting a civilian job instead.

Sorry for the rant but stuff like this irritates me for some reason, lol.

A Member of:
Liverpool FC... the mighty reds... won the biggest tournament in Europe, if not the world:

In the first half (for those who didn't watch it, or don't particularly care... tough) we played terrible, and went 3 goals down... It was basically game over, I couldn't bare to look at the TV. But whatever motivational speech the manager came out with definately worked... in a 6 minute timeframe we scored 3 goals to equalise. The game was back on. So it dragged out to Full-Time... then through Extra Time... 120 minutes in all, and then the game went to penalties... and well... WE WON
A round of applause for the lads in red, please!

They just did the damn near impossible and beat the multi-billionaire owned Chelsea FC (who this season are Premiership Winners, and Carling Cup winners) in the Semi-Finals of the biggest competition in Europe, with a shakey season and an unbelievable amount of injuries. To do this with such bad luck is a phenomenal achievement.

2004 was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. In July my brother and sister-in-law brought a beautiful child into the world, and made me a proud Uncle for the 6th time, I met a niece that I didn't know I had, of my half-brother, and I was taken on permanently at work.

However, in August I came so very close to losing my dad, who had blood clots on his lungs, the size of fists, and if he had waited just 2 days and not been admitted to hospital, he would have been dead. Thankfully he recovered, but he is still at about 80% because it hasn't completely gone, and he requires more scans next month (I think they're waiting to see if there is any sign of a growth in his scans). If there's any luck out there waiting for me, he will make a full recovery.

We had a quiet New Year's Eve this time, and it was special to me, because the responsibility of the family tradition of the man of the house to drink in the new year with a glass of scotch whiskey and being the first to re-enter the house (with the traditional piece of coal [warmth], cracker [food/health], and silver [prosperity]) was handed to me this year. So that was nice for me... I know alot of people rubbish the old traditions, but I'm a sucker for family tradition, they make life interesting. I'm with the year I've had, I'm not going to tempt fate, so hopefully I can bring a big of good luck our way for 2005, lol.

My new year's resolutions are to design a family badge (representing my surname and the football team this family is crazy about , and maybe the St. George's and St. Andrew's flags) and have it tattooed on my left arm. That and I must put more effort into being more creative, as I have really slacked off on my art work, I've started several pieces but I just haven't had the heart to finish them for some reason.

To make matters worse, I spent most of the night listening for a burglar (the wind was making my house do odd noises which sounded like the back door going). So I spent a couple of hours at Stupid O'Clock reading on guard, lol.

But anyway, my new niece is coming soon for her first christmas, otherwise, there's no other reason on earth I'd be up at the ungodly hour.

I can't believe someone got me the complete First Series of Father Ted I'm so chuffed

BTW did any of you manage to catch that fat bastard in the red suit?

So anyways, as the title says, Merry Chrimbo to you all... have a good one....

I'm just gobsmacked... I must confess I bought this game for Counter-Strike: Source, and Day of Defeat: Source (when released). But I thought 'what the hell I may as well have a little crack at the HL2 Single Player mode'. The new engine is incredible... In fact it's entirely too much fun for me... I kinda spent the first hour in one section throwing various interactive objects (crates, boxes, boots, and oh yeah... bricks ) at the very highly strung guards armed with electric batons (well ok, maybe I gave them a reason to be highly strung)... I don't know how but it was just damn fun. Then again later on I realised you could throw a tv through a window, I felt like a rockstar ... oh... and.... I sort of spent time playing on the swing in the playground but lets leave it there.

Hmm... I seem to be focusing on the wrong parts of the game. Anyway the graphics kick seven kinds of shite out of those of Doom 3 sadly (because untill now they were the best, and although they are officially now PWNT11!!1!1!111... they're still... nice, lol). Something I was glad to see was that the movement and feel of the game had not changed a great deal, this is good news as I think the old HL engine felt the most natural of any other fps I'd played, so it was nice to see 'if it aint broke dont fix it' come into play here .

The only thing that pissed me off was that it still requires the disc in the drive to play... And here's me thinking that was one of the positives to using Steam for games, your CD-Key is limited to one Steam Account only... so where's the logic in having a disc check on it? Beats me... anyway that's a small setback that will most likely be fixed in an update soon enough (as there are tons of people conplaining about this, so many it's hard for them not to take notice. Whether they respond is a different matter).

So did you buy the game? What are your thoughts on it?

(lmao, my journal is turning into a gaming column)

Harding
Watching: Monty Python and the Holy Grail

!!!!!!! WARNING: PC GAME RANT !!!!!!!

So there I am, reading reviews of the game Rome Total War over and over again, from different sources, all of them singing praises, as I await the arrival of the postman with my delivery (RTW with another game that I'll mention later).

Ohh, a package arrives.... wrapping is promptly torn off. Disc inserted and setup is started at which point I can barely control my excitement (I love getting new games). Three discs later and the game is raring to go. Everything looks nice, however I'd seen the presentation and the interface when I tried the demo, which I rather enjoyed. So I'd had a little taste of the battle mode, and eagerly anticipated the rest (empire building mode).

Well about 2 hours into the game I was rather unimpressed. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but it was made out to be something incredible.

Now the other game that arrived in the package - which sadly is eclipsed by the shadow of Rome Total War when it comes to press coverage and reviews - is Knights of Honor. It seems to have been shunned because it sticks with a 2D engine (Much like Age of Empires series) rather than the newer full 3D camera Strategy games. Although it's no loss to the game, because the artwork is brilliant, and the gameplay is so much more addictive than it's rivals (Not to mention it's just damn fun to try and conquer as much of Europe as possible with England ), and yet it seems to get an average rating of around 8/10 compared to the near perfect scores RTW receives. Hmm nevermind, I'll never understand.

It was pretty much the same for Doom 3 as well, nice game, but pretty simple and boring in some parts, and totally overhyped.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, but I needed to vent, and this was the current website loaded into my browser.
