I've gotten myself involved in the game development of a little thing by the name of Deep Blu. It's headed up and written by ~gmerriment, who's a pretty awesome and easy to communicate with guy. The game will be a puzzle platformer, based in a world slowly freezing from some astronomical disaster. The concept art is really neat, take a look for yourself; The Blu Family.

I'll be doing the pixel art for the development and programming. There's talk of a free low-fi release, and then a console release with hi-fi graphics (which wont be mine). I've started a little, and talked to Merri about it a bit. Still a lot to do yet, and years to go before it's anywhere near complete. Still, I thought I'd keep you guys in the loop.

Pizzacat suggested that I should take commissions for them, so here we are.

I really enjoyed doing the Proxy one, as I really like the character design and I hadn't done any pixel art for an extended period of time for months. Now when I say extended period, I mean that piece of pixel art was something I produced every month. That hasn't happened for a while, and I'd like to get back to that sort of thing as I really do enjoy it.

That being said, I'm offering to make you a fighting-game style pixel sprite for your avatar. Send me a note, making me a monetary offer (preferably over $10), and link me to a picture of your character. If I think the character is interesting enough, I'll accept the commission. The money is really just there to give a little extra motivation to me. Hey, if I like your character enough, I might even offer to do it for free.

In the note, you might also want to tell me a move that you'd like your character to be performing, or perhaps if you just want the classic up and down standing sprite that's cool too. Just remember they're only going to be a few frames long (perhaps a max of 6 frames), so it'll be a repeating loop of that move.

So yea, let me know if you're keen!

After all this drama at work I realise it might be a good time to prioritise the stuff that I do outside of work as well. I've been kinda distracted by the shitty situation at my work, but I've now identified why the problem came about and who initiated all the shit that went down. That said, I'm still searching for a new job somewhere that'll keep me interested and mentally active.

So, having decided to give the real world a little more constant attention, I'll obviously have less for stuff like creating new stuff. Since there's so very much that I've been involving myself in, I figure I need to sort out exactly what I want to do, what I know I'll actually finish in a reasonable timeframe, and what I know I wont and don't want to commit myself to.

To start such an activity off, I need to list out the things that I currently think I'm involved in, or that I know I've said I'll do some work on;

My real world commitments, in particular, take up a substantial amount of my time. I'd really like to find a job in which I can be creative and expressive. However, that's something I'm aiming for and will hopefully reach. In the mean time, I still want to be creative and expressive in my spare time. I also want the things that I create personally to be those which I enjoy producing, as well as a finished product which I enjoy.

I also don't want to feel like I've over-committed myself to the things that I'm involved in. I always want to get things done quickly so I can appreciate the finished product, I'm not really someone who enjoys the 'doing'. Such an attitude has lead me to learn that valuable thing called patience when I'm drawing, otherwise my pictures would look like crap and I'd be constantly dissatisfied.

I've always wanted to make computer games, but really I just wanted to design them and have someone else make them to my specifications. I'm much more into visual design than I am into creation of the non-visual stuff. I can code, sure, and I'm good at it, but it's not as much fun as drawing. However, I've come across something called Multimedia Fusion 2, a piece of 2D game creation software (the developers edition, no less). There are a few games I've played that were made with it that I've quite enjoyed numerous aspects of, if not the whole thing. Such games include The New Satan Sam, A Game With A Kitty, and The Underside. Such games are awesome, and I've always loved good platformers.

I can't say much about the meeting here, as there's a chance that the people involved in the meeting might see it. I can't disclose why that would be the case either, as it relates to the meeting content.

I've got a much better idea of what the future could hold for me in terms of employment, which makes me very happy, and I've got a much better idea and certainty of what it is that my bosses expect. I think the meeting went well, from my perspective. I think the events and discussion of the meeting was favourable, and at times, amusing X3

Currently Working On;

COMPLETE: Dragon Half Ending Mink Dance Template. For those familiar with the anime (and manga); Dragon Half, I'm making a template of the dance Mink does during the ending sequence. I couldn't find one anywhere on the net, so I thought I'd fill this gap. Despite what other people may have told you, the dance has 7 individual poses and a 17 frame sequence. I tracked it myself, thanks to a youtube entry of the ending. Hopefully I should have the template done by the end of this week or next.

Megaman RP. Working on a roleplay based in the 100 year gap between the end of the MMZ series and the beginning of the MMZX series. The roleplay will be run for a group of friends I see regularly. Hopefully will get this all ready sometime in July.

Dusty Commissions. After I finished ALICE, for Dusty (from FA), she offered to hire me to design and illustrate a bunch of other characters from her stories. Also to do comic book style covers for said stories. Negotiations are continuing, and I hope we can both reach an agreement that will allow me to get paid to draw mecha girls ^^

EO Atlas. I'm currently involved in making the GUI for it, as well as being one of the pixel artists. EO Atlas is another remake of an indie MMO called Endless Online. Some of you may be familiar with it. The project has a timeline of two years, but it all depends on whether the project leader can find a programmer who can be more commited than the current one. Progress is slow.

A whole bunch of other stuff. Sitting on the back burner; Psion Blaze SHUMP game, Spirit Fantasy RP, Reading HTDM Interesting Characters book, and a few other bits and pieces that don't immediately come to mind.

Hey everyone,

So, further to the biodegradable markers post many months ago. I had a talk with the people who make the polymer I was hoping to use as a casing for the pens, and it turns out it's not actually supposed to last very long. It breaks down after a few months of wear and tear, and exposure to the usual stuff floating round the air stream of a city. Ah well, it was a nice idea. No other polymer I've found is suitable, as of yet.

Sorry for the massive hole in drawing. I admit, I have done something else, but it's just an outline of a character design, and I notice they don't tend to get much attention compared to coloured stuff.

As for why there hasn't been much recently, well, I haven't been eating any brazil nuts for the past month and a bit. What the hell does that have to do with drawing? Well, Brazil nuts are high in silinium (or however you spell it), and that has a beneficial effect on your brain chemistry. Suffice it to say it helps motivate you, and it certainly helps motivate me.

Where I live, the soil lacks silinium, so people over here tend to wear a lot of black and avoid eye contact.

That said, I went out and got myself some more brazil nuts yesterday, and having eaten 5 yesterday and 3 today, the difference is appreciable. I've already agreed to do a design for someone, so that comes before getting anything that's half finished actually done. However, I plan on going back and colouring and finishing a bunch of stuff I should have already.

Also, I've come across a music artist I was previously unaware of. Someone of such immense skill that I regret overlooking one of their previous releases for its album cover art (which is actually pretty funky, btw, it's just very... different).

"she". If you haven't heard of this guy before, now is your chance to redeem all those wasted years in the dark. When I once thought Pendulum, The Qemists, The Prodigy, Virt, Sabrepulse, Animalstyle, Imogen Heap, and a select few others, were all the best of the best, I was wrong.

I used to consider Imogen Heap in a class of her own, and I guess she still is, with those beautiful vocals of hers. She's an amazing singer and composer.

I loved the baselines of Pendulum, the energy of the Prodigy, and the wicked stylings of the Qemists.

Virt and Sabrepulse were great game music composers, chiptune with energy and inspiration. Animalstyle has his own style, and it's pretty wicked too. These chiptune composers were some of the best, I thought, and I suppose they still are.

However, they all come a far back second, to she. I've downloaded all his free music, and will be ordering his newest release album (still back in 2008), Coloris, from japan next payday.

Thursday; My kitty's birthday dinner. Her parents are taking her to a place called Strawberry Fare [link] . It's excellent and is famous for its excellent deserts. Nani, Bron, and I are all going along as well, so it'll be fun despite her parents being there.

Friday will be the day Suzie arrives. She's a fellow deviant whose been watching me for some time. She'll be crashing on the couch at my flat over Armageddon. I have to pick her up from the con' venue in the evening.

So it turns out the dA stand at the upcoming convention, Armageddon, has been pushed all the way to some back corner that is actually the end of a hallway. That's irritating, especially considering how many cool artists will be at the stand this year.

Ah well, hopefully with my gf cosplaying as Sumomo and her friend cosplaying as Kotoko we should be able to pull many people to the stand and gather attention. After all, I know she'll be spending a lot of time around her favourite artist; Nani. Hopefully all this direction and people knowing members of the stand will bring in enough people to sell all the merchandise that will be there.

Sadly, with recent ailments I haven't gotten much done for the con, at least not as much as I wanted to. However I've still been able to help Nani with her comic, so I don't feel so bad. Pity I couldn't get the alterations I wanted made to my cloak, but oh well, I have awesome aviator goggles, so I suppose they make up for it.

I admit, I've drawn some revealing smut, but it's not going to be uploaded here because it'd violate policy. You can, however, find it on FA... although I'm not about to make finding it easy >X3

EDIT: Ok, so the mermaids wont get finished, and the mermaid RP idea wont get done >.< I've come across something that's much more likely to be enjoyable for the players and successful as an RP. Oh well, this means I'll likely be uploading sketches of the NPC's, settings, and a bunch of other interesting stuff in the future

So in April there will be the annual convention, the only particular one that happens in NZ (not including the other 2 in 2 other cities run by the same people with nearly the same stuff, so I feel like they don't count). With that comes new projects to get done. Specifically, helping ~nai-XaIn with two of hers. One of them has been keeping me busy on the weekends when I visit her place and the other has been keeping my busy at home (although not over the past week as I had excess gum over a wisdom tooth burnt off cos it was causing trouble).

With that in mind, it's unlikely that I'll finish the dark Mindy or either of those 2 mermaids before the convention. You're all lucky to get anything this month, but look, I gave you all a wallpaper, I hope that tides you over to April. However I have a feeling it wont. Ah well, maybe I'll finally get my friend to send me the scan of the picture of Sky that I did on my Gallion character sheet.

It looks like this entire month will be about preparation for the convention, so don't expect too much activity from me in that time >.< He said, knowing full well his activity in the month beforehand hadn't been very much. Maybe I'll upload those practice sketches I did, if I feel like they don't suck too much x_x

I decided to study the book I got for Christmas, which is about drawing characters in a way that makes them more interesting and expressive. While beginning this, through practice exercises, I realised that I lack continuety in my drawings of the same character. This has never been an issue for me as if I draw a character more than once it is usually to revise their design.

I do, however, recognise how frustrated I was at my lack of continuety. So, I'll be practicing making my characters more interesting and expressive while also practicing continuety. However, spaced in between sheets of practice sketches will, hopefully, be completed illustrations/drawings/designs.

Sorry to those people who I told I'd have another picture of Sky for. I didn't end up finishing it the weekend I said I would, although I suppose I can scan the inks anyway and show you. Hopefully I remember to do so this coming weekend as I don't have the piece of paper on me.

I also hope to create a new character, a mermaid, for an RP I hope to run with a friend (as in me GMing and them being the player). Still haven't finished the techo-anthro future one of him and Melody, but I have a continuation idea for that one, so it's ok.

Back on topic; I may or may not post the practice sketches. Still undecided on that one. I'm not very pleased with some of them, but I suppose it'll also achieve what I wanted to before, which was give you all a glimpse into how I plan out my pencil work.

Oh, I also got Prodigy's new album; Invaders Must Die. It's so freaking epic, I'm loving the tunes on it so very much. It was scheduled for release here on the 3rd of March. Not sure what happened, whether the CD store I got it from is being sneaky, but I got it before then, which makes me even happier ^.^

I've been spending a lot of time over at my friends place; ~nai-XaIn and her bf Bron. It's been a lot of fun, and I seem to spend more and more time over there. They have me addicted to role playing. When I'm not at their place I feel like an addict in the street asking for cash to fuel his habit x.x Anywho, lots of drawing, role playing, and freaking awesome sushi insued. Drawings evidenced by the uploads within the past month.

I've also been researching materials to make a completely biodegradable pen from. This being done in the hopes that I can replace my petroleum-dependant pens with the ones I design. That, and I'll be able to help others by creating such a thing ^.^

Anywho, now that I've filled you all in, I think I'll get back to finishing off my Gallion character

I've been working on creating an internet radio catering to the players of free MMO's. So far, so good. I have plans as to how it'll all work, I have DJ's, I have a website that I designed and put together, I have a fully skinned forum (also done by me), and I'm working on a blog skin.

What this will amount to is a semi-professional internet radio station paid for and run by yours truely. It'll involve the DJ's, of course, not just in their music choice but their personalities. After all, they'll be talking on the radio too

There's a lot more to come, and I look forward to getting it all up and running ^.^

I was accompanied by my pet who has ended up staying a few nights

However this has been a great advantage as the bed has been warm and there has been someone comfortable to pat ^.^

I've been offline for a while to sort out moving house, so I'm sorry for the inactivity D: However everything is set up now and I'll be back to posting stuff again XD (such as that dragon over on the left <.< ).

Sorry for the inactivity in my gallery of late

Real life has been keeping me busy, and sometimes unmotivated and uninspired ._. The family have gone away again and I'm left all alone (for 3 weeks this time T^T ).

It doesn't look like I'm going to finish my previous WiP's <_< Sorry... the motivation for them just kinda died and I'm no longer pursuing the MU* they were created for v.v However having said that the pencils on Eden are partially done, so there's a chance she'll be finished sometime. So far as Granite goes, ~kendravixie wants to colour her, so I sent miss Granite to kendra XD We'll see how that turns out

I have new pencils @w@ They are Artist Quality Faber Castell Coloured Pencils!!! A late b-day present from my father that I requested of him XD They are awesome and are likely to make their first appearance on a picture I started last weekend x.x It's a more dynamic picture than any other I've drawn before

and it has foreshortening, and it will have a background, and and and... yup :3 I'm very pleased with how it's coming along X3

Everything non-art related seems to be going really well atm ^.^ cept for being alone in the house... and being left to clean up moldy fruit off the carpet... and starting to hate the decay of my mothers house... ok yea, I want to move out, but there's a lot of good things going on I swear! XD

I'm Back!

Now most people who read this first wont know, but my previous account is on dA as well, recently abandoned. This is mostly to avoid a stalker who has been following me across the net for 2 years. Long story short I've had enough, so I'm attempting to hide in a new account (this one).

There will be drawings in here soon! I swear! Just gimme some time >.< Friends of mine have motivated me to create a new account on dA, so here I am doing so in some spare time at work. I've got four drawings I never uploaded to my old gallery, so I'll upload the works in progress when I get home and edit the horrible quality scans to make the images at least somewhat resemble the paper originals.

dA seems something of a popularity contest, so sod it. This gallery will really only exist to host my art for easy reference for others who I come across and happen to not have my clearfile folder with (not often does this occur). I suppose it also exists for (almost) all those hangers on called friends that I seem to pick up as I travel across the net.

I wont be uploading any of my previous works, and this means they are all locked up in storage on my previous account. I really can't be sodded deleting all 160+ pieces of work, it would take too long and dA doesn't allow the deletion of accounts anyway. So meh, it can sit there and zombify.

In a little while I'll send out a mass note to all the people I think I should bring with me along my net-journey. Not sure if I'm going to go about faving works and such anymore. I mean heck, there is some absolutely amazing work around, and some artists I really like the work of that don't get attention, but seriously, organising all those faves takes time. It's neat to see a pic, but if I really want to keep it I'll print it out and stick it on my wall instead... although that'll lead to too much paper and not enough wall... Oh well, just like friends, good art comes and goes. I'll come across new stuff, and I'll leave comments on things I like instead ^^

Oh, and a friend has convinced me to take commissions... So I suppose I'm up for them too. At this moment I really haven't decided on a pricing scheme, if any. I was at one stage hoping to work on a manga of my own, although I keep coming up with so many ideas that perhaps that's not such a great idea

; I can't fit them all in >.< So, commissions, I'll sort out what I'm willing to do and for how much at a later date, but I suppose if you're interested you can enquire. Yes, I know, no art in the gallery until tonight, but the works in progress will be there I swear!
