So I've decided to make v2 of the Water Cycle Simulator.

Now I need some ideas from you guys about what it should be like. Send me a comment if you think it would be cool to include something.

Current idea list:
- MORE clouds!
- Touchpad friendly controls
- Isometric view (undecided, discuss please)
- More game, less education.
-

I've decided to give it up, again. I was a nailbiter when I was much younger (around 8-10 I think), and managed to give it up with a huge lego set as a reward (best reward ever!). I can't remember when I started again, but it was before my highschool years, and I've been doing it since then. Now that one of my fingernails has a huge dip in it and is growing like corrugated iron (luckily it will recover), I figure it's time to start taking care of the rest of them while they're still attached to my fingers. So I went out an bought a few things...

- Nail clippers
- A pack of small nail file boards
- A 4 sided nail polishing block

It's been a week and already they look much better. I reckon that after 3 more weeks, they'll look better than yours.

And if that shopping list causes you to question my masculinity, I'm going to track you down and scratch you.

Ohai. Why yes, I am writing this at 1am.

Anyways, Australia has BF:H servers. Woot! In the two months I've played on Euro/US servers, I've never been called a hacker. I've been playing on the Aus servers for less than a week and got called a wallhacker tonight. Maybe they didn't realise:
a) I usually stalk my victims for a bit before attacking.
b) It's a third person camera. You can see over walls and around corners.
c) I break commando cloaks for the lolz.

I find this great, though a part of me is concerned that an admin might decide I'm bannable with no screenshots or videos as proof.

On another piece of news, it turns out Swine Flu is in my area, and a student at my uni has a confirmed case. Everyone seems to be doing a good job of slowing the spread though. I'm just glad it's almost the end of semester, and soon I won't need to leave the house. Unless I get another job, which I probably should do.

Finally, listen to this awesome piece of trance. I'm yet to see if it's worth it's price tag, but it's definitely worth paying for.

The controls feel quite good. There's a few little things that annoy me, like not rolling on landing even when I press the key, and not grabbing some ledges. Still, it's a whole lot more fluent and fun than Assassins Creed.

The graphics are very pretty On a high-end system like my brother's, it keeps a decent frame rate with everything on extra high and 16x AA. On a lower end system (good back in 2005) It runs smoothly, though everything is either low or off.

As for the rest, I'm yet to judge it, but it so far looks like quite a good game.

And add TheRealWazzar if you want some easy friend times to beat.

On a side note, Samurize is very cool

After 4 days, I've finished it. I think.

Plus:
- I love the music choice Lots of DnB as well at three Pendulum tracks.
- "I have a driver resisting arrest"..."Last name Cooper, first name Ryan".
- Great car choice. It's going back to it's roots with exotics Only missing car I'd like to see is the CCX (see the minus section), but it's got loads of other good ones (R8, TT, Veyron, Mclaren F1, Zonda, Gallardo LP-560...)
- Lens flares are pretty
- The cops are tougher. I've actually come to like that
- Police chatter

Minus:
- The heroic engine sucks! I could write a whole new journal on why.
- HDR was invented to help you see, not to blind you.
- Map is awkward. Made for game controller, not mouse.
- Map is 2 too many button presses away.
- Map is pretty much useless!
- Have to buy the CCX with real money, even then, you can't customise or use in career.
- You spend lengthening periods of time without any story, then it's all over. It makes Assassins Creed look refreshing.
- One little scrape on the wall and you lose a bunch of In The Zone points. Total a traffic car and you get more
- I no longer have the need for speed. The cars go waaay too fast. ProStreet actually had a great feel for speed
- You can't choose which music tracks to play or skip.
- Music track names don't appear on screen (except in menus).
- Rubber band cops.
- Police AI still isn't that great. I hit a spike strip, 4 mins and 3 destroyed cruisers later, they'd finally managed to stop me.
- They need a complete refresh of the body parts list. with 5x more options
- The list of rims has grown.
- Opponents cheat on highway battles.

Neutral:
- In the Zone points.
- Wheelman points.
- Lack of a main menu (It all seems to be in the pause menu.)
- Damage

Headdesk:
- You can now sort rims alphabetically!
- You can now engine brake!

I hope EA does a complete rethink of NFS before they bring the next one out in a few years. Go back to what made it popular (or what kept it popular up until Carbon), and keep it fresh.

I think that's more appropriate.

Since the start of 2007, I've lost the will to vector. I still do it as a way to kill time, but a lot slower and a lot less often than I used to.
If you've got a short attention span at the moment, or don't have much time, you might want to come back later.

<rant>

I've been a fan of the Splinter Cell series ever since Pandora Tomorrow came with our Nvidia 6600GT back in 2005. At that stage, I was playing the likes of CS (original) and BF2. Having a stealth game was actually quite refreshing.

At the start of 2007, I picked up Chaos Theory for $20. Briliant value for money (excluding the awesome prices of steam games). You had better AI, better weapons and cooler moves. Not to mention a good storyline and great soundtrack (Amon Tobin FTW!).

I've been watching out for Double Agent for a while, and when I spotted it for $20 I jumped. I took it home and installed it. The first strange things I noticed were some invisible light sources. It's not easy staying undetected when there's a spotlight on you and you can't figure out how to avoid it. Shortly after, an invisible camera kept spotting me. Alarm bells started ringing in my head when I started clipping straight through some catwalks, falling to my death. I thought, gee, this is bad. They probably should have picked up on this.

At one point I wanted to load back to a previous save point. It wouldn't let me. It kept deselecting the save slot that I wanted every time I went to hit the load button. Now, most Splinter Cell players know that there's a lot of trial and error involved. But seriously, a dodgy save/load system? They screwed up royal.

At this point I went to Google to find answers. I found out that I was incredibly lucky. Here's why:

- I was running Vista
- I was playing with the graphics on full settings without any issues
- It was only crashing occasionally (I didn't suspect anything...yet)

Most people I encountered on the internet were having serious issues trying to play at all. If it worked for them, the graphics were bad (on all except todays high-end systems) and it constantly crashed. Basically, the game had more bugs than an ant colony.

At that point I remembered back to 2006 when I played the demo on our old system. It glitched out. It was playable, but the graphics were just scary. Yet if you read on the back of the Double Agent box, the Nvidia 6600GT is a supported graphics card. Go figure.

And the icing on the cake? Ubisoft have only released one patch for the game...a few weeks after release. Why? To put in a feature that was advertised on the box. That's right. Sad isn't it.

From what I've established, here's why it's all so bad. It was originally created for the Xbox 360, then ported to other consoles from there. Most game companies do this with hardly any problems. But Ubi Shanghai was in a hurry, and they seriously skimped on quality control.

And now? I'm in the last quarter of the game, feeling glad that I got so far. Because now it crashes whenever I go to reload my game...which is often. I might finish it when I have the patience.

So I've gone back to playing the Battlefield games. People complained that they were full of bugs. At least they've had recent patches though.

Summary:
Gameplay: 6/10 Same ol' Sam. That's good and bad.
Graphics: 9/10 This must have been where they spent all their time.
Moves: 8/10 Some seriously cool stuff here.
Music: 8/10 Pretty good. Not my style, but suits the game really well.
Story: 6/10 Decent. I think it's a bit vague because it relies on the players actions so much.
Performance: -16/10 Fail. They ruined it by rushing it.
Overall: 4/10 The serious flaws ruined a game with a lot of potential. It's sad really

</rant> Wow, that was long.

Next up? The Boob job.

What? did I say Boob? Oh, I meant The Bank Job. Sorry, Freudian slip.

In comparison, the Bundaberg bottle tasted like someone had peed into it. I'm not even sure if I'll finish the bottle. Bundaberg makes good Sars and Ginger Beer, but fails to be anywhere near as good with LL&B.

Next test - Kirks Lemon Lime & Bitters. It's a three year course, and I've just started, so there's a long way to go yet.

Current Activities/Studies:

- Flash (Everything except drawing...I've already know how to do that.)
- Learning Java (>_< I'll get used to it eventually)
- Working with Illustrator (Mostly crappy stuff. I might put it all in my scraps when I'm done. BTW, NO CARS. And don't ask for one...)
- Web design basics (Tables are yucky. Why is my tutor using them!)
- And more random junk.

I'm hoping to create a new website for myself with my new flash skills. Don't expect anything in the near future though.

Job

On a slightly newer piece of news, I have a job. Yay. Now I can buy stuff (once I pay off my $2200 uni fees).

Anyways, It's a Sweedish company, and there's lots of four wheeled vehicles involved.

I push trolleys at Ikea (Sorry guys, not Koenigsegg). The pay isn't bad, and besides, the lazier people get, the more money I get. I love $2 trolleys.

Vectors

I'm working on quite a few vectors at the moment, but it seems that I'm starting more than I'm finishing. Yeah, it's messed up, but from what I've heard, I'm not the only one.

I find that the laziness starts setting in right when I'm about to start the rims. I love doing the bodywork though. EAT MY RADIAL GRADIENTS ILLUSTRATOR.

In order of completion:
AC Schintzer BMW M Coupe - 95%, 30+ Hours
Audi TT (new) - 60%, 10+ Hours
Humber? - 40%, 3 Hours
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 - 15%, 4+ Hours

They'll be done whenever I finish them. They might not even get finished in that order.

Loading Complete.

My sub is going to run out soon. But now that I have a job, I might be able to buy my own now. Then again, I could also spend that $40 on BF2142:NS. Decisions, decisions...

<sub>
Footnotes

- I love IR and Panos. You all knew that already though.
- I want to hit whoever invented gradients in Illustrator. They're un-intuitive, and without the gradient transform tool, inflexible and hard to control. Gradient mesh is sweet though.
- I might actually get some games for my DS...
- Matthew Reilly books OWN. I've read 3 in 4 days.
- I probably won't get a sub until I've made myself some new CSS.
- I'm ranked #15 of FAV drivers in AU in 2142.
- I still haven't played Crysis.
- Time to ditch my POS phone
- My legs hurt.
- I'm tired.
</sub>

It was much better this time around. I got to go see ~Secret-Master and the kr3w, and got some good pics of NZ. I'll upload them once I've finished my next project...

Project Refresh!

Yeah, I just made that up. Anyway, I've been reviving my old pics in photoshop, something I neglected to do back when I submitted them originally.

Here are some that I've refreshed:

Wingit
Quiet
At Rest

Sorry I didn't keep the original versions for comparison. Not that they were really worth seeing.

I'll also be moving my average photos to scraps and deleting the lame ones.

You can tell if a pic has been refreshed if it has my logo in the bottom corner, and TheRealWazzar on the other side.

So that's pretty much it for now

I've also been putting my photos on Panoramio. My Account is here. The special thing about Panoramio is that photos that you upload there are put onto Google Earth for the world to see. I've already got 2 up on Google Earth, and I'm hoping the rest will be approved soon.

I've been greatly upping my FAV stats since last time. I think the last time I mentioned my position, it was on the 4th of October. I'd just moved into 85th. Now I'm sitting nicely in 26th. In the last 30 or so rounds, I've come 1st in the FAV in about 25 of them, Averaging around 15 kills per round. I also managed to collect the greatest measurable achievement for FAV driving...the Gold Transport Badge. To pick that up, I had to get 12 roadkills in one round. As of the last few rounds, the FAV has become more deadly than my best weapon, the Voss L-AR.

TL;DR: Going to NZ, Look for my pics on Google Earth, Kickass in an FAV.

And yes, it's the vector I mentioned in my last journal.
Now, I've mentioned that it's the kind of car that a Ninja would drive. That is if they drive cars, because they obviously use motorbikes.

It was quite some 2 weeks. I never want to do it again

If you want the slightly more interesting yet less informative bit, go down to the bold.

The flight to NZ was scheduled for the morning of the 25th. It was canceled due to a birdstrike. The plane never got to my airport. Instead, we had to wait for 6 hours before going to Sydney, somehow finding our way to the international terminal, then catching a connecting flight to NZ. We got there 12 hours late. At least Virgin/Pacific Blue was nice and gave us free food vouchers, and transport between terminals. Not to mention free tickets...

Once we got there, it got increasingly chaotic. We spent the whole 2 weeks renovating a house. The nights got later, and the mornings got earlier just to meet the deadline. By Sunday 2 weeks later, we still hadn't finished, but the house was looking much better.

We were planning on going up to see ~secretmaster and the crew, but we ran out of time

We got to the airport on Sunday to find our plane had been Cancelled. Damn Cyclones in Fiji...

At least though, we had enough time to take a breath before the next scheduled flight the next day.

And so, I just made it back in time for my High school graduation. Hurrah!

The Bold Bit

Things I learned:

- Moths are the stupidest creatures still alive. They spend all night smashing themselves into lights. Then they bash themselves into any window on the house until they find one that's open, then continue to batter themselves on the lights. once they sustain some damage, they spin out of control, and make a beautiful moth-dust angel on our freshly painted doors and walls, where they remain until someone scrapes them off. By the end of the trip, I was killing moths just to raise the average IQ of the world. Even flies and sheep have more intelligence.

- There were way more flies in Christchurch, than there are on the gold coast. Every morning, I'd watch a swarm hover around on our back porch. And that's all they did. Hover around. However, though Aussie flies my be less numerous, they make up for it by being annoying. If there is a fly within 50 meters of you, it will make a beeline for you, and buzz around you until you kill it. And they're hard to kill...

- NZ air is beautiful. Sure, it is cold, but breathing and moving is easy. Gold coast air is excessively humid...

- NZ Ice cream Pwnz any Aussie stuff. We went through a whole 2L tub in one afternoon between 4 of us.

- NZ water is so lacking in flavour, that it's delicious. Seriously, never trust water with a flavour.

- If you need to do something, give yourself 1.5x the time needed, but work to meet the normal time frame. Then spend the rest of the time partying.

- If you set yourself tight time constraints, things such as canceled flights are almost certain.

- Australia is screwed. If it self destructs, I've got my evac plan prepared.

Oh yes, and I've started a vector that I'll actually get around to finishing. It's the ultimate car for Ninjas. I'll say no more

I've found that I'm at my best after leaving it alone for some time. That round, I only died 7 times, and got about 34 kills...as you can see, most with the FAV.

Now, on that note, it looks like I'll be leaving it alone for a bit more time. I'm off to NZ tomorrow morning, and will be getting back on the 9th.
