Ramblings


Well, I survived the damn semester despite all the setbacks and stupid shit I had to put up with. I can now say I am a university student! Yay! :) Uni here I come! I'll try to post some of my assignments from the semester here one of these days.

I've noticed that my art style has taken on a more simplistic approach. I don't know when or how it happened, but I like it nonetheless. I've take up pen & ink, and watercolor as my mainstays, with acrylics and markers on the side when I'm in the mood. I kinda temporarily gave up on digital art, since I find it more stressful than productive. Watercolor is more relaxing to do--plus I get more results from it than I ever did with digital. Not to knock digital artists of course, I just found that I sat at the computer longer and accomplished less when trying to digitally paint, than I do with traditional mediums.

I can't wait until I can get professionally taught. Self-teaching is frustrating and slow!! DX

Sheesh. Being in that car wreck really screwed things up for me. :( Unfortunately, the accident aggravated a preexisting problem, but my wrist is back to normal (thank God!).

I recently went on a no starch, no sugar diet for health reasons. OMG, it's the hardest thing I've ever done! But I feel a lot less lethargic. :D It sucks though, cuz I'm really limited to what I can eat, but after a month, I can start eating whole grains like brown rice. Three weeks to go!

I was in a 4 car accident on the 23rd. Yay. I'm fine, just a little bruised; my neck is messed up, my head is kinda hurting, and my right wrist hurts (and yet I'm typing...), but I'm intact! Being tossed around like that so easily is really eye-opening for me. I know how fragile the human body is, but I didn't realize exactly how much until my neck was whipped around like a noodle. >_<

I was driving to school when it happened. There were three cop cars on the far right lane arresting someone and some lady decided to rubberneck. She slammed into the car behind me, he slammed into me, and I slammed into the guy in front of me. D: The best thing about this is that, apparently, the one of the cops had their video recorder running while they were doing their thing and caught the entire thing on tape. They confirmed it on the spot that it was 100% her fault. How lucky is that?! The woman's car was totaled, the guy behind me smashed his front end and cracked his windsheild, and the person in front of me drove off without a scratch. My bumper is almost fine, but the front end of my car is smashed, the engine's slightly damaged, and I'm not gonna have my car for about 3 weeks to a month. NOOOO!!

So yeah... My wrist is sprained, but it hurts the most when I hold a pencil. ;_; I can manage to type if I'm careful though.

I'm going to try acrylics this weekend! :D I think I'll finally have time to dedicate a day to it. I'm going to try it with lots and lots of water. I'm too intimidated to try thick paint on my drawings yet. Hopefully I'll come up with something I can post here.

I spent most of my afternoon cleaning out my technical pen (.30mm). I filled it with white ink a while back...

BAD IDEA.

That sucker was so hard to clean; I'll never use white ink in there again... I got it up and working, and then I filled it with some new ink, then found out it's erasable... So I had to clean it again and fill it with my left over waterproof ink! My hands smell like pen cleaner. D:

I'm going to try to be more active here on dA. Maybe it'll motivate me more.

Minor edit: I need to finish this layout soon, but I'm going to bed. XD

I am in love with Hungry Girl: [link] I love junk food. I LOOOOVE junk food, but for the sake of my muscular condition, I'm better off just not eating it. And soda. *sobs* I so love my Dr. Pepper... (gave up soda 3 years ago though) I've done well since January (it was my resolution), but I have my moments of weakness. And then I discovered that website. I FEEL LIKE A COMPLETE GIRL AGAIN!! *dramatic chorus and lighting effects* Butternut squash fries, alternative recipes to fast food burgers, and my favorites: lower calorie shake recipes!! *_* The only thing I don't like is that some of the recipes just promote junk food dieting (using junk food to avoid junk food...it's hard to explain, but it's exactly the thing I'm trying to avoid). But I've avoided trips to McDonald countless times already. *jumps for joy* I don't understand why everyone thinks I'm a diet freak--I just want to eat healthier, there's a big difference there. Anyway, I dug out my teeny set of Copics (12 basics + 4 skintones & blender) and my multiliners. Everything is pratically brand new (I got them when I was 16), 'cept my .005 pen. That's kind of predictable. I go through those like nothing. :( I have such a heavy hand... I tried to color, but I hate the marker paper I've had sitting in my room for a while. It's too absorbent and it makes for hard blending (it bleeds, too); if you want to do a cel-shaded style piece, though, it's great. I'm going to try some manga paper next...

Looking through the "How to Draw Manga: Couples" book makes feel so lonely.... ;_; *sniffles* Oh well, that's what manga is for, haha.

Ending on a random note: I figured out that Borders is my ultimate weakness. I can't go in there without coming out with something!! T^T Even Anime Nuts can't hold a candle! I go there so often, that the manager lady asked me when I was going to apply! LOL. She even knows my name!! Well, I guess I have been going there regularly for... O_O... 7 years... Eek.

It does help that it's literally a 6 minute walk from my house...
