Rules -

1. You can do whatever you like, from drawings to comic strips, as long as the focus is on one or more of the three characters mentioned. The older characters can be in the entry, but the primary focus of the piece has to be Fatty, Spaz or Tilde.

2. You can enter as many times as you want, I don't care.

3. Deadline is midnight, January 1st.

Prizes!!! -

For the prize, I can either:

a. Make the winner a plushie of whichever Ugly Girl character they choose, or...

b. Give the winner a cameo in an upcoming comic.

Entries will be judged by a panel of impartial fellow comic artists and friends of the comic (probably Stinkywigfiddle, Skunkadoo, Dreamsphoto and Mandersba) and not by me, just to make it fair.

So, anybody do it this year?

Because even though it's technically the second annual Ugly Girl Costume Contest, no one actually participated in the first, so it hardly counts. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only person who dressed up like a character from Ugly Girl last year was me. So I guess I won. Woot. So here's the deal; the rules are the same as last year:

Dress up like any character from "Ugly Girl," take a picture, and send it to me at mommynanda@yahoo.com. Or better yet, convince a bunch of your friends to do it with you and go as the entire cast. Pictures will be judged on creativity, accuracy and attitude, by someone completely impartial (ie. not me). The deadline will be the week after Halloween - so sometime in early November.

My father-in-law passed away Tuesday night, and things here have just been a mess. My husband has lost a father and his best friend in one, my son has lost his Vuvu, and I will miss him terribly. The funeral was this morning, so now all the technical stuff is at least over and done with; now comes the hard part. A few of you have heard me talk about my husband, Mike. Mike and his father were not only best friends, but his father was his mentor as well. Mike took over the family business from his father, they shared a love of RC planes, film, history, flight and outerspace; I can't think of a thing that Mike didn't share with his father. This is especially tough, because he died so young; he was only 53, and had such a strong personality that we never imagined he could be taken from us so early. I'd personally known the man for the last ten years, and while we often butted heads (strong personalities - stubborn, stubborn) he was the first person in the family to make me truly feel welcome, and he was always good to me. He was a good man. I love that Ugly Girl... Someday I'll eventually sit down and write that book, and when I do, she'll be on the cover. Imagines...

I can't even state why this particular picture stuck out so much in my head. ::thinks:: I think it's in the details. I love the way the water reflection is so skillfully rendered. The shading and three dimensionality (is that a word?) of the picture is superbly done. The small spit of land coming out behind them looks great too. My only quibble (very small) is that Rin's forearms should show less behind the big beach ball.

Hee! I'm so excited! Honestly, I hardly remember entering. And then I never checked back because I just assumed that I would lose. Good thing MusashiYoukai was able to find me here at DA, or I would have gone on oblivious for all time... *laughs*

First a friend of mine catches someone over at "Access Inuyasha" who drew their own version of "A Little Nap," copying my work without so much as a mention of where the idea for the peice came from (It has since been taken down by the admins of that particular site). Then I notice a hack version of my peice "The Price of Sleep" over at "Inuyasha World," entered in the November fanart contest. ([link] )

But this one takes the cake! At least those two, while essentially copying my drawings, were actually DRAWN by someone else. But today I went over to Otaku.com to look at some Inuyasha fanart, and I found this!

This person didn't even bother to attempt to draw it! They just scribbled over my original drawing and called it theirs! I've contacted the site master over there, but the point is that this just steams me to no end. Where the hell does this person get off? ]]> ~ThatNanda
