DEVELOPMENTS

Hey there everyone! Due to a number of problems with the Profiles, I’ve decided to change the Joining policy, so here’s the deal. I will add everyone who is currently watching the club, so that they can be officially listed as Members. I will then help each individual person work through their Profiles so that we maintain a single, uniformed approach. In the meantime, please feel free to enter the Club Contest, found in the Activities page. The deadline has been extended to 25 March.

ABOUT

Designed in the year 1996 by mangaka Kazuki Taskahasi, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game is a popular pastime that entertains Duelists all over the globe. This club wishes to indulge just that, so greetings from ~The-Destined-Duel, a club dedicated to deviantART’s Duelists . If you have an interest in Duel Monsters you are more than welcome to join

Each month the club will have activities for you to take part in. You can find more information about these in their respective links. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Anyway, here’s a little bit of club history. As you can see, the club itself was actually formed last year, but due to the Founder being such a procrastinator and really disorganised, it was put off until now, 2008 . The name of this club comes from a Yu-Gi-Oh! game that was released on the Game Boy Advance some time ago, known as Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel. So there you go.

The second part of the profile is where things are slightly more complicated. For the sake of fun, I decided it would be an interesting idea if everyone designed an Original Character (OC). The OC should be new and have an adaptable personality – that way, there’s lots of room for character development . Make your character unique and interesting with flaws and strengths.

Above all, no relatives/friends/acquaintances of existing Yu-Gi-Oh! characters. This makes things overly complicated and takes away the originality of your character, not to mention the fact that this club is about the Duelists of the real world, not the Duelists of the Yu-Gi-Oh! world.

The third part of the profile is simply a deck list. The deck will be used by your OC in the Story section. It may be a good idea to design a deck prior to designing your OC; not everyone likes every card in Duel Monsters and it may help you decide their likes and dislikes. This may simply be your existing deck, if you so wish. The only rules in this section are NO Sacred Beasts, Slifers, Winged Dragons or Obelisks, Blue-Eyes White Dragons or made-up cards.

After that, just watch the club and add a link in your Signature or Journal . Simple as that!

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Emperor Deck

The estimated time of arrival of this deck is April 2, 2008, and with a formidable theme, it is a must for any Duelist who feels they are lacking the Monarchs. The series of Monarch cards have almost stretched across all the Attributes – there’s Mobius for WATER, Raiza for WIND, Granmarg for EARTH, Thestalos for FIRE and Zaborg for LIGHT. With the release of the new Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Emperor Deck (known is Japan as the Advent of the Emperors Structure Deck) the Monarchs are finally complete. Caius the Shadow Monarch explodes onto the scene, bringing with him an effect that takes us back to The Second Graveyard:

When this card is Tribute Summoned, remove from play 1 card on the field. If the removed card was a DARK monster, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent.

Much of the Deck is centred around the Out-of-Play Zone, giving access to cards such as D. D. Warrior and Solemn Judgement. Despite all of these perks however, this is not the best of the deck. Caius the Shadow Monarch is not alone, and flanked by an army of all previous Monarchs, it is a deck of 40 cards that is prepared to do damage. It has been tried and tested by various Duelists and comes with a unique Duel Mat. The availability of the Monarchs is certain to boost decks across the world.

There are two ways in which to play the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG – one is to play by the Traditional Format, which ignores the Ban list, and the other is to play by the Advanced Format. In order to build an Advanced Deck, Duelists must adhere to the entire list for the deck to be Tournament Legal.

This is the current Ban List, which came into effect on 1 June 2007. It was taken from here.

Are there any card combinations you’d like to recommend to the rest of us? List the cards necessary and then relate what the move achieves!

Requires: Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6, Card of Sanctity
Usage: If you frequently send cards to the Out-of-Play Zone, then this combo may just save you (it certainly has helped me). Card of Sanctity sends all cards in your hand and field out of play, but if you have a face-up Horus LV6 on your side of the Field, you’ll still have one monster to work with simply because “It’s Horus”. In addition, Card of Sanctity lets you draw two more cards, possibly changing the direction of the Duel.

Here are some cool sites all related to Duel Monsters! Feel free to recommend sites, your contributions will be much appreciated :herat:.

yugioh-card is the game’s official website. It gives users a great array of language options and should definitely be researched by anyone who is learning how to play, or who wants to sharpen their dueling knowledge. There’s also information on Yu-Gi-Oh! events, such as the Pharaoh’s Tour.

ideal808 is a reputable site via which you can purchase Duel Monster cards. Their prices are reasonable and they usually have a good stock.

yugioh.wikia is basically our own Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikipedia. It has tons of information on cards, rulings and so forth. There’s also a lot of miscellaneous information, so it makes a fun read.

yugioh.tcgplayer is definitely one site where you’ll be encountering the opinions of other Duelists. It has hordes of information as well as some great ideas for decks. The terminology may become a bit confusing from time to time.

yugioh-online is an amazing website. It took me between 6-8 hours to download – but that’s just my server, not the fault of the game - but on the plus side, I can now play Duelists from all over the world! The game itself is known as Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duel Evolution, and you can duel people from both the original series and from GX. In addition, the game is free and simple, although you do have to purchase DUEPASS points as you go along. These points allow you to duel and are quite cheap.

Well, how can you have a club without a little bit of healthy competition? The club hosts various activities each month, all in the interest of our members.

CONTESTS

Each month, members will have until a given date to design their own Yu-Gi-Oh! card. The card will be related to the month’s theme, and judging will be split into two categories. For those of you who are not artistically-inclined, it is still possible to win the contest based on the plausibility and originality of your card, so never fear! Templates for the card itself are available in our Gallery, though you do not have to use these.

Ensure that your card is appropriately sized, named and that spelling, grammar and Yu-Gi-Oh! text stylistics are taken into account. Ensure that your picture is square and is illustrated; photos will not be accepted.

The artwork of the card itself will be judged by ~Chaos-Flower. The text of the card will be judged by ~ElairaHunter. Work hard to impress them!

The talented ~the-dark-paligin will award two prizes each month on the basis of the Judges’ Choices. These prizes will be a drawn, inked and digitally-coloured request of your OC against a white background, based on the profile you have given and any other additional information ~the-dark-paligin may require.

To enter the contest, send a Note with the subject CONTEST, including a link to your deviation. The card will also then be hosted by the club, so that other members may view your entry.

So, without further ado, here’s the first contest!

CHALLENGES

For those of you who like to test your Dueling talents, we also have challenges. These are simply in-duel scenarios which are up to you to solve. The challenges will be uploaded each month, with a Normal and Advanced option. Take a look at our Gallery to participate but remember – don’t look at the deviation comments if you want to have a crack at the Challenges! Correct Members will be revealed at the end of each month . It’s down to you to know about the specifics of each card in the challenge.

The colour of the font represents what type or card it is in real life, so Effect Monsters use an orange font, Spell Cards use green etc.

Using the information given on OCs and their Decks, ~The-Destined-Duel will be hosting its own story, titled The Destined Duel. All Chapters will be available in the club's gallery.

The plot will be written each month, and members are welcome to give their recommendations for what will occur, though themes that are not PG-13 will be avoided. Don’t worry about having a highly developed character – the idea is for everyone to interact and for all of the characters to get some intense dueling action.

The story will contain no Yu-Gi-Oh! characters whatsoever because the main focus is on the members.

If you object to this scheme and wish to remove your OC, please do not hesitate to say as such . A new chapter will be added each month, or if time allows, each fortnight.
