I want to thank our members who sent in new submissions for me to add to our gallery and to the MEMBERS COLLECTION. In addition, I want to thank those of you who sent in some found hearts (thank you, thank you, thank you!).

This club can't exist without it's members, so please take the time to send in new or old heart theme deviations. If each of us does so even once a month, this club can continue being one of the few theme clubs that has been going strong for over 4 years!

Let's not only be about the Found Hearts feature. Let's be about the members and it's wonderful gallery. Remember, we are THE-Heart club, and we all love hearts!

THANK YOU goes out to =ValerianaSolaris for donating a 3-month subscription to the group!

Now we're up to six months!

I still need more donations for our subscription to continue. Six months is great, but I would really feel more comfortable with a longer subscription for the club.

If you can donate anything, a 1-month sub or 3-month sub, I would be very grateful. Small donations add up and can easily reach one year before you know it.

Supporting this club helps keep it going. I rely a lot on you all for the sub donations so that we can keep doing what we do here, recognizing both our own members as well as the heart loving dA community at large.

There were only two submissions over the last two weeks which is why I skipped one week for a journal update, and that made me very sad. We need more submissions! Without submissions I don't really have a reason to keep updating, featuring members in a module, or having a MEMBERS COLLECTION each week.

Let's all help keep the club strong by submitting the deviations we already have that have not been submitted, and/or creating new ones so that we can keep our gallery growing with new deviations. And it only takes a few minutes to send in a note, so don't use "I don't have time" as an excuse!

I really don't want to close the club due to inactivity and especially now that we have at least a six months subscription.

Our subscription ran out! I was able to save it with a three month sub, but due to other dA money responsibilities, that's as much as I can afford to give at this time. We need more donations!

If you're able to donate $4.95 or $7.95 using a Paypal, debit or credit account, that would be great! Small donations add up! But if you have the money to help with a complete one-year-sub, that would be so fantastic!

We do want to keep this wonderful css design and the ability to post our member's work and found hearts, so let's reach deep into our pockets to keep it up for our club, okay?

I've been ill again and this time I had major surgery, but I think I've recovered enough to get back into the groove of things again and that includes taking care of the club. So don't worry. Unless I see complete apathy on the part of you, the members, I'll be here and so will the club.

All entries portray a different aspect of "vintage" or "antique" or "retro", but you have to decide on the one that does the best job of executing that idea.

This is a note ballot vote. Contest Update!

There's only a little over two weeks to enter the "Vintage Hearts" Contest!

It's such an easy theme, so why haven't you entered? Why let those cool prizes go to someone else because if there aren't plenty of competition, it'll be so easy to vote for the top three. Why leave yourself out of being one of the winners?

So get out your old thinking cap, come up with an idea, execute it and send it in by August 1st. As long as your entry note is dated August 1st, you'll be accepted into the contest.

However, be sure you're reading and FOLLOWING the contest requirements and how to enter. I would hate to return your entry over something as simple as missing submission information.

And be sure you've looked at the examples so that you understand what a vintage or antique deviation should look like (add a sepia tone to your photographs or other media and you will get that "antique" look).

I still haven't gotten to sending out the note about the contest to the club members as I had planned. It's difficult to get things done when you've got too much to do and no help! But I'll do another poll and make the note a priority so that more members will get the word and have time to still participate.

Remember, if you're reading this, ignore the note. I'm just trying to reach members who do not get the journal.

Why not help get the word out about the contest by making a notation about it in your journals? That way it'll get out to more people, and I bet we'll get some more new members that way.

Contest Update!

This is the second week of our contest. Remember that it ends on August 1st. Also remember that it is a regular submission to our gallery, therefore, it must meet the gallery quality control. If you don't know what I mean by "quality" deviations, please read the info on the Submission page. Any
deviation that does not meet quality control, or an entry note that does not follow the submission procedure, will be returned.

I'm still asking for more donations for the contest. Yes, many members have offered journal features, but we need more to make this contest more appealing and a successful contest. Hey, I'm use to having 40 or more participants, so we've got to do something to entice our members to join in and new members to join our club.

If you love this club and can donate anything non-monetary like custom deviation or stamp or ID, or a custom t-shirt or tattoo design, or any custom textile item, a personalized CSS design, etc. that would be great! Also, we could use a 1-month or 3-month subscription prize, or a small item from your dA store could also be appreciated.

Our new contest starts today!!

The contest is called "Vintage Hearts". It's open to every member in any media, so that means photomanipulators, traditional artists, as well as photographers can participate. The due date is August 1st.

What do I mean by "Vintage Hearts"? Well, first, I didn't want to do another summer theme because we did that last year, and The-Heart
club is about the "heart", not about romance. "Vintage Hearts" was suggested by =rockgem,so I'm taking my interpretation of the theme to explain to you what is meant by "Vintage".

For the purpose of our contest, a vintage heart deviation is a heart in a design or photo that is antique looking,or what we can also describe as "retro", or "old looking".

Here are a few examples. All three are photomanipulations by =MaureenOlder, *Runewitch, and =thefantasim

Hi everyone!

I just found something that made me very happy. I had to go into the club's e-mail account to verify something when I found an e-mail saying that ~xaliaz had donated a 1-month subscription to the club way back in February. Boy was I surprised! Thanks so much ~xaliaz. That random act of kindness really cheered me up.

Be A Heart Hunter!

Good Sunday everyone!!

I'm so sorry that it looked like I had abandoned the club all month. Far from the truth!

I've had constant browser problems with both Firefox and IE. I thought updating IE had fixed Firefox, but everytime I would connect to the internet and used Firefox, after a short while I would be booted out to my desk top. I was constantly getting error messages when I used IE. There were times when I couldn't even load one page without being booted to the desktop or getting an error page! EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!

So I would just give up, go off line and do something else. Got a lot of deviations done that way.

Finally, it seems, although I'm still having the same problems with Firefox, IE is stabilized and I can be online without any interruptions.

So now I have all of this catching up to do! I meant to create a new deviation to celebrate our 4th birthday, but didn't get to it because I was creating deviations for a few contests. But I can create that anytime, right?

And how have all of you been? Been creating some more heart theme deviations? I hope so! How can I collect or feature you if you don't create?

There's a nice group of new submissions that I've added this week including some cool Found Hearts. Do enjoy because they are worth the view.

This is our anniversary month! The-Heart turned 4-years-old today, April 5th. And it's nice to know that we are one of the few clubs who have been going strong for 4 years.

If you want to create something special for our anniversary, just do it and I'll feature it all month on our front page. If you make us a new stamp, it will be added to our growing stamp collection.

Happy Day After Valentine's Day!

We're still celebrating and yesterday there was a wonderful "100 Hearts" news article celebrating Valentine's Day and $Moonbeam13's "Random Act Of Kindness Week" that mostly featured heart deviations from the club, by you, it's members. So go take a view, see if you're there, write a comment and give it a favorite. (please give it some pimping because it sure could use it

This week is "Small Pretty Hearts" week and I searched the last half of last year submissions for some of our best deviations that featured small hearts. You can view that below. .

We also have another group of fantastic and interesting deviations in this week's Members Collection, so please enjoy! And don't forget to visit our member's gallery to spread some love.

I want to thank =CozyComfyCouch for all the help given to find the deviations for these features.

Hey, photographers, don't let the time go by for you to participate in the two contest put together just for you. You can get the details about the "Official Contest: What Makes You Smile?", and the "Love Is A Four Letter Concept" contest (ending February 27th) at each associated deviant journal. Good luck with that!

You all are doing wonderful sending in your submission, and don't forget that we do take older deviations. I know that some clubs do not, but I don't feel that way. As long as it's got a heart and it fits within our gallery guidelines, it's welcome.

But do remember the procedure rule for submitting deviations with categories other then traditional, digital, photography and crafts. If you want the deviation to be in dA's wallpaper, stamp, css, animation, stock, etc., section, I still MUST have the art media that you used to create this "other" category deviation.

I've been accepting some lately and guessing at the art media, but I'm going to go back to sending the submission back to you because I may be guessing wrong.

This week was another great week for submissions. Thanks to all of you who sent in some heartfilled deviations, especially the Valentine theme ones. It was also very nice to see some of our older members again.

Hey, we're THE =The-Heart club, right? That means we take Valentine's Day very seriously. That also means we'll be celebrating Valentine's Day all month with various features, including at my art accounts, as well as news articles. So keep sending them in, gang, and look for your own deviation as well as some of your favorites from the past year!

And remember, you can submit old deviations. So don't forget to go through your gallery and look for your older heart theme deviations to submit to the club.

Hey, everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful week.

Hey, you know what? This month is my anniversary month! I didn't realize it until this morning. It's been two years, January 8th, that I started running the club. I can't believe I've lasted this long. Well, anyway, happy anniversary to me and here's to another good year!

In celebration I'm doing a little feature of my deviations from last year.

Oh, and I also discovered this morning that I've stop tagging at the bottom of the journal a line thanking our members who are sponsoring this year's subscription. So I want to give a shout out to *ceiteach ~rabbitica =kasumiakiko. Without your generosity, we wouldn't have this cool design or any wonderful features.

This week was a great week for submissions. Thanks to all of you who sent in some very wonderful art. Not all of them made it into the weekly Collection because I try to keep those down to a maximum of eight per week so that the journal doesn't get too long. However, that doesn't mean you won't make it into the collection the next time; plus, there are now more spaces available by using the new modules and I can add more club features every week, so please keep submitting.

And remember, you can submit old deviations. It always surprises me, when I'm visiting a member's gallery, to see heart theme deviations that I've never seen in our gallery. So check yourself and be sure you've sent all of your past theme deviations to us. The more, the merrier, right?

And do send in any Valentine heart theme deviations. I'll be searching our gallery for old Valentines, romance as well as broken hearts, and adding any new ones for display here and in a very large hearts tribute news article. So now is really the right time to create for Valentine's Day or find one that would fit the theme (romantic themes, couples, and such) and send it in so that we can get it into the gallery.

First, I want to thank everyone who participated in the contest for coming up with some very creative, and at times very beautiful, deviations for our official wallpaper. It was not an easy task for me to decide on the first place winner of the 1-year-subscription, so I made it simple on myself. I looked for the design that had our club name big and bold and easy to read, with a very unique design.

That means the First Place winner is *Achuzu's, "Heart Club Wallpaper". Congratulations!

Sorry for all of the errors, but I have two mods out and two mods with limited availability so I've been doing just about everything myself for more then three weeks. So I was in a hurry when I came in to do some uploading, some found hearts and the new poll with a new journal. So I made some errors. I am only human. And hopefully my staff will be able to take care of their personal concerns and can come back to help run the club.

We're voting for Heart Of The Month for the next two days, but it looks like I made an error. Because there were weeks of few deviations so that we could have a regular poll, I became confused and missed a week. So there's only three deviations in the poll. It's three of your very favorite deviations and I think it's going to be a close race. And please do vote, even those of you who are visiting our club. You can find the deviations themselves in our ShoutBoard and the poll right above it.

Next week, Thursday, we'll return to our regular polling, but this time it will be 10 of our members in the poll. Then the following week we'll vote for a found heart, and so on until we have four for the end of the month. And I hope I don't mess up next time!

Hello members!

Those of you who have been keeping up with the journals and polls lately know that we have been discussing changing the way we do our Heart Of The Week poll. Well, from your feedback I have decided to have one week for non-members poll (from the Found Hearts in our favorites gallery), and one week for our members (collecting two weeks worth of member's submissions).

This will only work if you submit deviations.

Did you know you can submit older deviations? When I'm visiting member's gallery, often I am amazed that I'm seeing deviations that I've never seen before, i.e. that have never been submitted to the club's gallery. One member expressed that she likes to go foreward, creating new images, not backwards to pull out the old, and that I can understand. But what about the rest of you?

Submitting is also important because that's where I grab the Members Collection from and select the Member Of The Week. Whenever you see one of those missing from the journal, it's because I didn't have enough deviations to choose from, or a member who has participated but already chosen for the week.

So, this week starting on Wednesday we will have our Heart Of The Month vote. Then the following week will be our first members only poll. Isn't that exciting. I can't wait to see how that comes out. Then the following week we'll have our first all found hearts poll.

I want to thank all of you who voted and commented on rather we should go to alterating members and non-members for the Heart Of The Week. I personally like that idea and I was happy to get the feedback from some of the members to help me make the final decision.

So starting next month we will go to that format for the poll. However, today, we're sticking to the traditional voting system of 5 members and 5 non-members.

What wonderful submissions!

Thanks to our members who submitted some really great deviations last week! It really made it difficult for me to select the best for the poll and our weekly Members Collection, and that means they were all GOOD!

And that's the way it should be.

Still, there really weren't as many submissions as we usually average per week and it makes me wonder, what's up? I was very sad the other day when I was skimming the member's list to see so many names that I recognize and yet have not seen a submission from the very same members in a very long while. I know that life changes and that affects your dA life, but I can't help but wonder if some of our members have simply forgotten about the club.

Well, I hope it's only temporary and submissions will be back to normal soon.

I haven't had the chance to send out the note to all members, but I am asking everyone who can to give me some feedback via a poll. Since it seems we've been skipping a poll every other week for a couple of months now due to lack of submissions, I think that maybe we should do the Heart Of The Week poll every two weeks, taking the first and second winners to represent those two weeks. Maybe every week is just too often even with enough submissions. Let me know what you think by voting in the poll.

In the meantime, let's all dust off the cameras and our paint programs and create a new deviation for the club this week. Think you're up for the challenge?

Keep sending in your deviations, everyone. We have a good size club, one of the biggest that continues from week to week to be a vital club, and I don't want to see it die due to lack of participation.

So let's not forget why we're here. We love the heart, and we love to create deviations with hearts, so what's stopping us from creating something new for the club once or twice or three times each month? If everyone did that, boy, our gallery would be stock with plenty of deviations for poll nominations, and for special features and collections. Plus visitors would really be impressed.

I just realized I have not completed my prizes for the winners of the last contest yet! I'm really sorry, but those of you who know me know my mind has been more on my own account lately. I've been busy as a bee completing 12 Zodiac theme deviations for a calandar as well as adding new deviations to my other art account that has been neglected for almost six months. But that's really no excuse. I'm the head of this club and I should act more responsible, so I'll get to those prizes this weekend. Promise.

I think it's time to remind everyone about polls and how to be nominated.

You must submit deviations between Thursday of one week through Tuesday of the following week to be considered for the poll. The staff select their favorites, review the stats for each deviation, and recommends 5 that have low favorites and/or page views. I review their recommendations and select the ones that come up often. So the final cut is by me.

However, once you win Heart Of The Week or Heart Of The Month, you cannot be nominated again for six months.

The favorites for the weekly Members Collection also come from the submissions for the current week and I select those myself. I look for the best deviations and there are no set number for the collection, and there are no set period of when you can be added.

Members, come on, the submissions have been way low lately. And the Found Hearts are looking better then our deviations. What's up with that? Just because there's no contest doesn't mean you forget about the club. Most of the new members who were added after I took over the club seemed to want to be a member (although I know some simply joined to participate in a contest because they disappeared there after), and I know for a fact that the new members since February of this year really love hearts.

What about the rest of you? What happened to your zeal for the heart?

Every month I give out a 3-month subscription to the Heart Of The Month winner, and lately that sub has been going to a non-member. That's not a real problem because I want non-members to be part of our community outreach. Sorry that I've been absent again, but sometimes it can't be helped. Hopefully things will be okay with me and my PC and I won't go "missing" again for a while.

Well, let me tell you what's new.

First, I want to have a Club Portfolio; i.e., use the portfolio feature, that's now in beta, to keep a selection of our member's best heart theme deviations in one collection. To see what I mean, link here to =ManipulateThis club's portfolio: [link]

Anyone and everyone can participate in the club's Portfolio project. The deviation in the portfolio is your choice. It can be a deviation that has been submitted before, or it can be a new deviation that you have yet to submit.

All you have to do is send us a note with the subject Portfolio (so that we know it's not a submission) and a thumb of your favorite heart theme deviation in the body of the note.

All deviations in the Club Portfolio must also be in our gallery, so if it's a new submission, please be sure to give us the information we need to upload to our gallery. If you forget, your note will be returned.

When the portfolio is completed, we will post the club's portfolio url address so that you can also post the url in your journal and share with others.

A note will go out to announce the Club Portfolio project so that all members will know about it. If you have any questions, just send me a note.

Our head of artists relations, $Moonbeam13, wants clubs to join her Collection Collective Project and I've included our club. Since collections can include club members, I've decided to feature deviations that had been submitted during the previous week in each collection.

The staff will help in this selection each week when they make their poll nomination suggestions. So just like for the Hearts Of The Week, or any other club feature, you can't be included in a collection unless you participate by sending in a deviation. The collection will be changed every Sunday starting August 31st.

And last, we're voting for our August Heart Of The Month. Please don't forget to vote.

I'm waiting to hear from one judge before we can complete round 1 of the judge's votes. If there are three clear winners, then we're okay and I can make an announcement asap. If not, we will go into a 2nd round of judging.

We're a little behind on submissions right now, but don't worry. They'll be up soon and in time to be part of our Hearts Of The Week selection.

It's always slow around here after a contest and when there's nothing going on. I have no general dA news to share with you this week either. However, I am planning some massive The-Heart members news Tributes that I've been neglecting for over a year. =filemanager will help me organize that so it should be happening soon. And when fall comes around I'd love to feature your autumn theme heart deviations on our front page. So if you don't have any in your gallery all ready, it'll be nice to create at least one for me to feature.

They'll be giving favorites to deviations that you all find and send in, as well as searching for brand new heart theme deviations so that the staff and I have a variety of deviations for you to choose from during the poll.
