As you may well be aware, the group is back and slowly picking itself up again. Over the next few weeks we will be updating the site and planning for a collaboration within the groups chat [link] A friendly warm atmosphere is kept at all times by our great staff.

Talking of staff we'd like to introduce you to our new staff crew!

:bulletblue: =lady-shirakawa Although the group hasn't been active for a long while, Tessa has strived to try and keep the chat going no matter what, because of her enthusiasm in keeping the chat alive we decided it was right to promote her into our staff team.

    As I inch closer to perfectionism,
    I drown myself in dissatisfaction
    The plight of pursing the pinnacle;
    A disappointing debacle

    As countless self-investment earns no vested interest,
    The only returns, doubts at best.

    Yearning, not without earning,
    A reflection with direction
    And perpetual potential.
    Is this medley of ideals my reverie?

    Tormenting me, I fall
    In dark wings.
    But live on,
    In this idealistic strife I’ve spun.

    :bulletblue: For me, the poem touched the depth of what it was to be trapped in a vicious circle, being unable to find, but searching for that somehting to make existence meaningful. It captured that with it's few, but very poignant stazas. A great write. [ ~SpokenAubade ]

    :bulletblue: Structurally, I like the way the poem is set up. It's clean and short. Content-wise, it fills the reader with images and emotions the way a good poem should. I read few poems on dA in which writers have produced a good balance of structure and content, but =mythicaldamienne pulls it off here. [ *neek-zique ]

        :bulletgreen: We also hold poetry shares regularly. If you want advice on new and old poems and prose, come into the chatroom!

      I have known her for a fair while on DA and her poetry just gets better and better each time she submits something new! She is a great member of staff at *The-Last-Stanza and not only is she a poet, but is definitely a deviant of many talents!

        1. How long have you been writing?
          I started writing when I was about 13, but quit for a very long time, then started again a little over a year ago.

        2. How do you get your inspiration for the poetry you write?
          I guess mostly from things going on in my life, and what's around me...

        3. What is personally your favorite poem/poet and why?
        4. In general a bit about yourself
          I live in Colorado, with my husband and three teenagers--I turn 39 this July. And I love writing, more than anything, despite all the pictures in my gallery! :giggle:

      I've been asked by a number of people how they can obtain promotion in chat, so here is a run down of the chat groups and how you get to them starting from bottom.


      :bulletred:Banned      : Does exactly what it says on the packet, Firstly you get a verbal warning, then a kick, then you're put into probation. If that doesnt work you're banned. Of course, some people can be banned outright for extreme bad behaviour...you don't want to be here.

      :bulletred:Dirty Verses: Probation - third warning people go here.

      :bulletgreen:Our Pets:       For our bot and alter egos :D

      :bulletgreen:New Arrivals:       When you first come into chat, this is where you will find yourself.

      :bulletgreen:Groupies: for friends who are non=members and our affiliate groups. If you're not a member and we like you, we will promote you to here.

      :bulletblue:Stanzarians: You become a member, you end up here (simple as that).

      :bulletblue:Second Stanza: You get promoted to this if you are a regular to our chat or if we just plain like you :D

      'In light of the situation going on since Hurricane Katrina, the contest is to write a tribute for/to the the people of new oreleans or to capture the spirit of the South, for the lives lost and those who are in mourning. Anything directly linking to the hurricane and the people. I will then send our poetry along with the canned-goods and money people are currently giving. I'm sure, if anything, the children and parents alike will appreciate kind gestures such as these.' Thankyou to ColdContactKiss for her idea.

      Some new news for the competition, poem entrys will be judged late 8pm(ish) GMT time on 20th August by none other than Infernal-Raynata mum! This way it will be a non biased judging by somebody not on Dev Art, she knows a lot about poetry and is more than happy to help the group. Thanks for all entrys so far, keep sending your poems this way to *The-Last-Stanza Thankyou.

      ~infernal-raynata and ~Slave-to-the-Pen got together and decided they wanted to help other people advance in poetry skills and also to help themselves in getting better. So The-Last-Stanza was born...
