I'm not too stressed about not getting it finished just yet because I tend to be able to work pretty hard when I really need to. What I'm getting anxious about is the fact that I haven't even decided on if I should do a collection of works, with a 3-minute animation and a collage of my own photos, or just go for the full 6-minute animation (3 mins is the max for a collection of works, 6 mins for only a time-based work).

There's one difficultly tho. It is pretty much impossible for me to complete 2-3 minutes of animation in only 2.5 weeks. I'm just too much of a perfectionist and I'll waste most of that time on small, insignificant details.

Btw, for those who don't know already, in my opinion my photography skills have improved tenfold since the photos uploaded here (gotta love narcissism ) and I can't wait to start uploading new photos. Unlike my last two journal entries, I'm actually feeling rather good atm. I'm a little anxious but that's slowly fading to black, or white if you wish. Or Alpha 0% if you're a Flash animator.

I have many artworks to submit, but I've got no time to do so. Every second of my day is study, basically. But that's what you gotta aim for if you want a UAI of 90+ Actually I don't mind what I get as a UAI (UAI being the University Admission Index, in Australia. It's what you need to get into courses in uni). But I gotta beat my brother hehe.

Anyways, lots of photos and one massively awesome animation to submit at the end of the year. It'll definitely be worth the wait. I was gonna give a spoiler but I'm probably not even allowed to do that. Unfortunately I'm not gonna submit any art related to this animation during the year because it's for my major work for Visual Arts, and I don't want anyone stealing my ideas or, more importantly, for the markers to think they've seen the style elsewhere and give me zero. But like I said, the wait will be worth it.

OMGNEVERMORE3INEARLYFORGOT! Adam when's it coming out again? I was lucky enough to be able to beta test it, and all I can say is one word. Epic. That's another Flash that will definitely be worth the wait.

Conclusion eh? Hmm... I never was good at those.

My first and foremost is The Incredibles. Amazingly animated, voice-acted, directed... and um, presented i guess. Most memorable character would have to be that Asian (Japanese maybe? i dunno) woman who created those new superhero costumes for em... awesome accent . On top of that, some of the most beautiful and moving landscape design i've seen in an animated movie; the soundtrack owned as well.

Next would have to be Yellow Submarine. Lol yes i know, The Beatles are lame (kinda), but the first time i watched this was sometime between 3 and 7 years of age, and whenever i watch the film again i think back on those childhood dreams and imaginations. Amazingly inventive and weird, it's a really well directed movie with animation elements that i don't think any other animator could recreate as perfectly and as vividly as they.

...Ok i know it sounds a little weird, seeing as because i'm an animator i have forgotten what my third favourite animated film is... , but i'll come back in a couple mins and know exactly what to say, until then; go make some art or sumthin. That's the sure way to win at life.

In other news... right now, i am feeling that many pieces from my childhood have just... well, been placed back on my wooden floor-puzzle of life. I feel so incredibly calm. Not many times in my life have i felt so calm as right now. Happy, fearless, inspired. Whatever you want to call it, I never want it to end.

Apart from that, i just finished the School Certificate, which is a thing u do at the end of year 10 in Australia to prove... stuff. i dunno what it proves really, all i know is i had to sit 6 exams which weren't that hard, and because that basically marked the end of year 10, the next couple weeks will be a major bludge. wooo!

This is also the part where i say i'm gonna have more time for animating, and i've been working on something for my Art and Music topic in visual arts, which is kinda abstract and pretty crap but i'll upload it anyway once its done.

Also, 2 and a half weeks till mah birthday woooo
that also means 2 and a half weeks till i (hopefully) get mah graphics tablet, so from then on my animating style may change for the better (hopefully). However, i dont see myself as that good at drawing so i dunno if i'll be any good. Maybe i'll learn to draw better from it

Good morning/afternoon teacher and classmates. My multimedia presentation, based on the poem “Homecoming” by Bruce Dawe, was created in Macromedia Flash 8, a computer program based on the creation of presentations using animation, design and music. My two and a half minute presentation has made use of text, still images, music and animation to portray the mood of the poem, using many different animation and design techniques, including motion tweens, fading of text and images in and out, and the drawing of various vector shapes using Flash design tools. Artistic elements such as composition, balance and movement have also been used effectively. I will now explain the meanings behind my presentation.

In the first scene of the presentation, the first line of the poem is shown fading into view line by line, as if it was being written by an onlooker of such events. A truck full of deceased soldiers in body bags is then seen driving through an empty city, delivering unknown soldiers to anonymous graves. This image truly personifies the line, “they’re bringing them home”.

The next scene shows the bodies being brought in on stretchers, into an aeroplane which soon takes off. This scene has a distinctive movement to the right, signifying the journey made by the deceased soldiers back to their respective homelands.
In one of the following scenes, the “timeline” of a soldier is shown, showing first the soldier trudging through his depressing life, then the deceased soldier on a stretcher, and finally a symbolic image of a strolling hunchbacked figure (the soul of a soldier) having not yet ascended to heaven. A group of wandering souls is later seen ascending out of a paler version of an average city, symbolic of pergatory.

Later on, a live soldier is seen driving up to and entering a country house, possibly alerting the family inside that their son has passed on. In the next scene a comparison is made between the muzzles of “dogs in the frozen sunset” and the muzzle of a military rifle. The “wide web of suburbs” is then compared to a spider’s web. Finally, the truck transporting deceased soldiers to anonymous graves is compared to a spider, swinging bitterly over its wide web, whilst the truck swings bitterly around a tight suburbian corner.

Music used in the presentation includes “Treat Yo Mama” and “Home Is Where The Heart Is” by John Butler Trio, and “Why Does My Heart” by Moby. “Treat Yo Mama” is a purely instrumental song that creates a depressing and sorrowful mood for the first sector of the presentation, and “Why Does My Heart” continues this mournful mood while adding one repeated phrase, which in itself is symbolic of the emotion felt by these soldiers in their dreary lives. “Home Is Where The Heart Is” is then played during the credits, telling us that home is where the memories of each soldier now remains. Various photos and other such bitmap images used in the presentation were found using Google Image Search.

Basically, i've created a template image and what i'm gonna do is, starting from my front page, click on an avatar and tell them about the event. Then, i'll keep clicking until i have 100 deviants on my list for the click tour. Once i've got 100 deviants, i'll log them all into my template and put their avatar in next to their name (if they allow me to).

Another thing that's made me want to do this is that i'm getting no comments on any of my deviations; i submitted something a couple weeks ago and still only got one comment >_>' Usually i get more than this which is kinda weird...

Onto other matters, i saw The Da Vinci Code last night! (from 9:30pm to 12:00am xD) and it takes a place as one of TSM's top 5 movies ever!! Seriously, neone who hasn't seen it... you have to! Even if u aren't Christian! It's just that cool!

happeh easter to y'all 'n stuff!! ok thats outta the way...

holidays are here!! starting from tomorro im gonna be working on my flash anim Ragnarok Sprite Battle, i really need new sounds n stuff for that... not to mention a storyline...

just got back from camp last week, it was awsum we got to do this thing called the giant swing, ie. we fell 15m in about 1.647 seconds*!!
*not accurate fall time (obviously)

that giant swing thing was so cool tho, after the drop u were just swinging there, with evryone at the bottom laughing at the expression on ur face as u came down. not to mention the adrenaline rush!
i also did abseiling for the first time, god that was scary lol
...and i totally owned the rock climbing wall!
the food wasn't too bad either. but u know what was the funniest of it all?! ~TrumpetOwner totally missed the whole camp! pwnage'd!
for those who don't know, ~TrumpetOwner goes to my school and is in my grade. now onto "Other"!

whoever hasn't played the flash game "N" has to do so RIGHT THIS SECOND otherwise some random ninja will fly out of nowheres and start... um... shurikening u to deaf! i mean death! shut up! ;D

so i went to this really cool restaurant place, and the scenery there was just AWESOME! like =O awesome, seriously. if u live in sydney u gotta check it out. its basically this restaurant in the middle of these chinese gardens, and theres this waterfall and evrything, so ima post some of the pics i shot there on the weekend. my camera isn't that great, but u'll get the general idea.

*EDIT* i'll submit one shot a day for however many days it'll take, just to build up the suspense ^^ keep in mind they get better as they go! *EDIT*

on another matter, im coming up to my 2.5k pageview mark! if anyone gets it, screenshot it, i'll dedicate one of my flashes or sumthin to u.

it's really annoying, coz i've got so many new ideas for Bob's Adventure, problem is i can't act on these ideas coz i don't have the time! some things that should be new in future BA's is:

-> voice acting for Bob and the other penguins, seals etc.
-> Bob can attack seals, whales etc, and if enough are killed Bob's Berserk Mode will be reached, making way for fury attacks and flaming snowballs.
-> cutscenes. 'nuff sed.
-> second level will be a penguin settlement, a sparkling creation of ice-sculpted buildings and shops to replenish Bob's jetpack fuel, Berserk Mode powerups, as well as an all-new array of seal-killing weaponry!
-> music will be courtesy of Gravity Corporation, ie. Ragnarok
-> the main enemy, the evil Arctic polar bears, will be found at the peak of the north pole (they destroyed santa's workshop! D= ) in a towering structure made of ice bricks and snow cannons.
-> due to the fact Bob is in Antarctica, there will be underwater levels where Bob is boosted all the way to the Arctic, through channels of raging water where there is many enemies for Bob to pwn!
-> snowboarding levels, boss battles, what more could u want!

u know how i said i'd halt all the random crap and work entirely on Bob's Adventure? well i havent halted it completely but i have been working on Bob's Adventure, with a Berserk Mode fireball throw anim as well as snowball throw anim, seal moving and dying anims, new background (cell coloured =]), and a new and improved main menu that some of u have already seen.

im also starting on new bouncing platforms which flick u up when stepped on, a Bob's 2P Battle Mode, Bob's Volleyball, 2nd level stuff, a controls menu on the main screen, fuel packs to increase boosterpack fuel when running out, and other awsum stuff.

also, im waiting for a kiriban on 1500 pageviews and whoever gets it ill make them a pic or animation or sumthin.
