Man, I was looking forward to a nice relaxing break, but now things are almost more busy than during school.

I've gotta make presents, send cards, finish a tattoo design for a guy, upgrade my OS... all sorts of shit.

Plus the fucking phone keeps ringing, the doorbell keeps going off, and my dogs are flipping out for no reason (as they are wont to do) so I can't sleep either (only person home in the mornings).

When I do sleep, I have Kafka dreams. Those are pretty cool sometimes.

And in the end, this break is still pretty nice in that I get to see my friends.

I haven't posted anything in forever, but that should change soon- I just realized I have a huge fucking project due Tuesday for with I need to design characters. Wish me luck!!

I haven't had the inspiration to draw much lately. My brain feels so numb and dumb. DX

So far my classes are pretty boring- except for Transhuman Culture, which is about cyborgs and shit. That's my favorite class, even if everyone in it thinks I'm batshit insane for my long tangents and diatribes of modern culture. XD

Meanwhile, I already had a splitting headache, and my neighbor's shitty band was practicing the same goddamn song over and over at full volume. They're Christian rock, my least favorite genre (not because of the lyrical content, I'm fine with that. The singing style just makes me want to murder).

Yesterday my bike broke.

The day before, my PS2 broke. The day I bought a game I've wanted to play since I was 9.

My computer officially called it quits the day before that.

This week sucks.

I finished the star-and-wings pattern that goes on the back of the jacket, and if I may say so myself, it turned out pretty good.
Most Rock cosplayers bring down the overall quality of the costume by fucking it up (there are some pretty balls awful renditions of the design out there) so I'm hoping this makes up for any lacklusterness in the costume.

So many glue fumes, gonna vomit. Xb

I've been paying close attention to the news over the last few days, and I have to say I've been overcome with the kind of rage that unlocks every main character's final attack.

What could be epic enough to awaken the 1000 Sun Flaming Nut Punch of the West Star in TheArtHobo? Simple, my friends.

The idiocy and downright buffoonery that the American right wing is displaying in town hall meetings set up to discuss the pending health care bill. These meetings have devolved into clusterfucks of booing, shouting, fistfights, and use of such delightful diplomatic language as "McCaskill, you're a fucking c***."

This is so disgustingly childish it's embarrassing. And this is coming from a guy who spent the entirety of last week marathoning children's mecha series.

The crowning moments of these clusterfucks are when people ask their "questions," which are actually lie-ridden attacks read verbatim from Rush Beck'baugh websites. They're so scripted and halting you half expect them to end with "as a member of the US military, I am appalled. Copyright Fox News, 2009."

I now plan on attending any future town halls on the subject in my city, just so I can have the pleasure of feeling the crunch of my scrawny little fist against the quivering jowls of the first person who uses the term "Communist Russia."

To any of my watchers who sympathize with the Republican party and these buffoons drowning out the sincere political discussion with their Assholery: I hope you drown in the rotting filth that sprays forth from that facial anus you call a mouth.

Tomorrow I'm picking up the base jacket I'm using to make my Rock Howard costume, and hopefully beginning the modifications same-day.
All the other parts of his costume are taken care of.

The Disgaea Shooter may prove a bit problematic, but I pride myself on being a crafty little buttmunch- I'll finish it in time, even if it's 3 hours before the con opens.

Time for long nights of sewing and bloody fingers.

I'm happy to see that DA added a "critique" feature. Maybe this will help deviantART become the art site it was meant to be, instead of the fucking Narutard-Furry-Inflation-Clusterfuck of Mary Sue fan characters doodled on math tests that I was so reluctant to return to.

I'm tired right now and have some sort of stomach bug, and the first thing I saw when I logged into DA was goddamn furries.

It did not make me happy.

I think everyone is entitled to their own sick fetishes, I have plenty of my own, but I keep those private.

I also think anthropomorphism can make for a great motif.

But I don't want to log on to find pictures of some rainbow colored muscular humanoid Simba ripoff bound up in a gimp suit with god-knows-what in god-knows-where.

Hell, I wouldn't even mind it as much if it was at least well done, or executed with some degree of thought put into the artistic elements.

But it's always some goddamn purple and chartreuse abomination drawn in crayon or MS Paint in a Walt Disney/Hieronymous Bosch style on a perspective-less bed against a white background. I don't even mind the hellish sex acts usually being performed on the God forsaken creature. It's the awfulness of the picture overall.

Now I'm working on "The Cat Attached to the Rust" from Guilty Gear Isuka.

I'm trying to think of what I'll need member-wise for a band. another guitarist (or two, depending on who sings), a bassist and a drummer. Perhaps a keyboardist too.... I dunno.

So today I sat down to work on AP art stuff.... and realized I was out of lead. Crap. So I hop on my bike to ride up to the art supply place, and set out on what turns out to be a 3 hour hellish adventure. The way there it was raining. The way back it started hailing. Then the chain fell off while I was trying to quickly cross the road and I had to fix it in said hail on the side of the road. XD all while riding with one or less hands (carrying lead baggy).

Anyway, I eventually got home and finished my drawing. THOSE F#$KING THIGHS. DAMMIT. THEY TOOK FOREVER.

Later on I was looking through old art from 6th-9th grade. I used to be real good with inking and anatomy. Where did that talent go? ;3;

I'm still having trouble with painting the hair in my current picture, but I'm working on trying different ways for fear of and 's wrath.

Right now I'm using my free time (I make all my Saturdays into "F@#$ homework I'll sit around and be lazy" day) to create playlists for my music player. :d

The comic is still slooooow in coming... got one character designed, the other not so much. I also figured out the story but NO SPOILERS FOR YOU. D:< Cobyfrog's the only one who knows any of the details so far.
Also, the picture I'm doin for art class is coming slooooooooooow... ugh.... I need inspiration. XD

I'll probably do it for my 3rd trimester project in art class. :d

It's still in the planning stages... hell, I've barely chosen a genre yet.
I know it's gonna be more realistic-fiction than my usual fantasy ideas. It'll probably take place in a school too... I wanna draw uniforms. :d

I want it to be all artsy-fartsy and flow-y like Sumomo Yumeka's stuff (I recently read her books The Day I become a Butterfly, and Same Cell Organism). I gonna faaaaaail. I love the ethereal, surreal feeling she creates.

I decided though that if I like it enough I'll submit it to something like the Rising Stars of Manga contest, just for shits and grins.

Tonight I'll start roughing out a story outline. Not my strong suit: they always turn out overly complicated or way too simple and cliche. Wish me luck.

Those of you who don't like bad language, don't read the following as it is FUCKING AWESOME.

Been watching my favorite childhood movies: The Guyver and The Guyver 2: Dark Hero. FUCK YEAH AWESOME.

They're American live action remakes of a manga/anime series, so they're a mix of terrible and FUCKING AWESOME. They were my favorite movies when I was a little kid, so they bring back memories.

The first one kinda sucks but the second one is FUCKING AWESOME.

In the second movie guess who plays the Guyver?

DAVID FUCKING HAYTER.

THAT'S SOLID FUCKING SNAKE.

FUCKING AWESOME.

The violence in it is mostly kung fu pow pow, not too gory, but there's one scene that the guy who posted the video online said was taken from the original anime, and you can tell:
The Guyver slams the monster against a tree and digs his butt into its gut and it starts puking blood all over him.
Then he STAB ITS IN THE FUCKING LEGS.
Then he CUTS ITS FUCKING BELLY OPEN.
Then he BREAKS ITS FUCKING HANDS OFF.
Then he SHOOTS ITS FUCKING EYES OUT WITH LAZERS.
Then he takes his hands and SMOOSHES HIS FUCKING HEAD.

Now I remember why my mom didn't like me watching those movies at age 4.

Anyway, The Guyver is FUCKING AWESOME. I'm gonna go watch the original anime, and then after that I'm gonna watch the anime remake that just came out.

THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME.

Anywho, I was bored and felt like writing a journal. All the COOL kids are doing it! :d
I woke up this morning and was all sick and wobbly and I had a bit of trouble standing. A mixture or allergies, cold type sickness, and seasonal hormone imbalances (lack of seratonin due to lack of sunlight and shit like that. Extremely common up here in Oregon). Wheeeee. I always hate winter. XD

Anyway I'm still okay enough to go to school (damn).

Yesterday hung out with and . Funfun. We read yaoi ( "don't you feel uncomfortable being seen in the yaoi section, Cody?" ) and taking blurry photos of soda cups. Also found the worlds dirtiest friendship necklaces in the world: A nut and bolt set that screwed together, pun intended.

In other news, the epic Melty Bl'attle between and me has still yet to take place. It will be epic. EPIC. MWAHAHAHAA!!! The Knife-Nun Ciel shall stand victorious in bloody robes over the pwned body of the Wussy Version of Shiki who is no where NEAR as cool as his version where he takes off his glasses.
This battle shall be dubbed "Melblagnarok."

It'll be realism (gasp! :0 ) so keep your eyes out for that. I'm gonna practice a bit on an old drawing today, since I'm painting in Photoshop (lol that's an oxymoron).
And it's gonna be creepy, cuz the instructions for the project are "create an image incorporating fear." And for once the guy's only SOMEWHAT girly.
It'll be like 's style, just no where near as good.

Anywho, worked on my current project all day long, and forgot to eat... I'll hafta eat a big dinner. That thing is kicking my ass.

Pretty soon we'll be starting the self-chosen concentration segment in AP Art... meaning we draw whatever the f#$% we want. Unfortunately, we have to have some sort of "meaningful" theme.
Read: they want us to give all our pictures a single pseudo-philosophical angsty whiny meaning behind it.

Me: "Can't my theme just be fantasy?"
Teacher: "No, the AP people say it has to be meaningful; people last year did themes like 'neglect' and 'apathy'."
Cody: "What if I just put a tag on my portfolio that says 'All these elves have AIDS'?"

I'm thinking I'll just do a series in which I do two similar pieces, one with a happy feel, the other dark; then throw in some made-up bullshit about how our feelings change our perception. Or something.


I just wanted to kill some time by writing a journal.

ZOMBIE MOVIES ARE AWESOME. Watched Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead this weekend. :d Goooooood stuff.
Maybe I'll re-read the Zombie Survival Guide to get in the Halloweeny spirit.

Won't be able to celebrate Halloween on the day-of this year... cuz my brother's getting married and the party is that day. Oh well.

Just finished the "chance-value" project we're doing in AP Art, and it turned out so horrible that I'm not gonna post it up here. It sucks. -_-
Hopefully the in-class self portraits we're working on will turn out better for Cody... but I doubt I'm pretty enough for a realistic self portrait to turn out looking any good. -_-;

I think someone put soap in this lemonade. >_< It burns my tongue. *Keeps drinking it*.

"The band members of Dir En Grey walked onto the stage with little expression or emotion. Then Tooru Nishimura (Kyo) slowly started to descend into a trance-like, intense stare into the crowd. Kyo appeared to be deeply disturbed and then the music begins and Kyo bursts into action.

Kyo sings with intensity I have rarely seen in any band. He bleeds power, emotion, and adrenaline. Literally, he bleeds; Half way through the second song, he begins deeply scratching himself across his chest and stomach drawing blood. I tried to frame a few pictures of Kyo to show the scars from previous concert performances.

This is nothing. He is just getting started. Kyo stands up on a box in the front of the stage, leans back, hands and head back in a surrendering pose. Kyo starts fish-hooking and scratching at the inside of his mouth. Within seconds, blood and skin are oozing out of his mouth and down his chest. He wipes the blood all over his face and down his body. This self mutilation only intensifies Dir En Grey’s concert performance.

The pictures of Dir En Grey Concert show Kyo in the way I have only begun to describe. I was definitely impressed with the band. Kyo made other mascara/eyeliner wearing bands look like a bunch of sissies."

I just finished the first of seven pictures for a project in AP Art.
They're black and white, and this one took 3+ hours... so I'm looking at easily 21 hours of work over the next 6 days. On that project ALONE.
We've also got another sketching project, a pic of some glass vessel done in pencil.

Luckily, looks like AP Psychology's reading is easily skimmable stuff. :d
Plus the teacher re-teaches the stuff in greater detail the next day. I smell much possible slacking off. XD

Anywho, I'm on my way back home. I didn't draw all that much during the trip. :/ Did do a nifty black and white heavy shadow picture though, and started a realistic picture of Asuka from Evangelion, but I didn't finish it because it was made of smudgy paper and fail.

Can't wait to get home. Gonna watch lotsa anime. :d

Afterwards we're goin' (in true southern style) shooting. My uncle got 100 of those .457 Magnum anti-bear shots for his gun that he got for protection against grizzlies on his excursion into the Alaskan wilderness last year. In other words I gonna break my shoulder.

So in my spare time (oh trust me, there'll be plenty), I'm gonna read the new Harry Potter book and draw. In fact I have a list of ideas that I may get around to doing.
-Cobyfrog's homework (Arc at a Japanese style shrine).
-Redesign Arc's costume.
-Do some Ral Grad fanart. "Jaa, Ore wa Chichimomi Ral. Yoroshiku." XD
-Doodle more outfit designs (for myself... planning on sewing some of my own clothes this year :d ).

There's probably some real important piece I'm forgetting. Whatever, I'll remember it later.

Well, tomorrow I go to see Mom's work in the gallery (and someone there wanted to see my drawings after talking to my mom...some big otaku, so that'll be fun). I leave Wednesday and I have no idea when I get back. I think it'll be the 23rd or so.

Well, I'm gonna go take a shower and then bug Cobyfrog.

Which makes me sad, because I thought it was alot cooler when I thought Kyo was saying SEKAI WO MOERU (burn the world) instead of "Think you moron."

Or as the subtitles in their music videos read, "Think you moran."

It started with 36 straight hours of travel, with no more than 10 minutes or so of sleep. It's really hard to carry on a Japanese conversation with your host family when you're that tired. XD
The first place I stayed was in Gifu with my first host family, comprised of two parents in their 40's and a son who was 7. They were a lot of fun, and they taught me a lot about Japanese culture. Most important thing I learned from them:
THE JAPANESE EAT LIKE BLACK-HOLES WITH TAPEWORMS. For lunch once we had enormous bowls of somen noodles, and five minutes into the meal the 7 year old had finished and I hadn't even put a dent in mine. I wasn't able to eat more than half of it.

The second place I stayed was in Kumamoto (Kyushu) with my second host family. After a week in Japan, my Japanese had gotten good enough that I was able to carry on full conversations with my host family. That was a lot of fun.

Finally we went to Tokyo, where we got to do what we wanted to for 3 days. I went to Harajuku (where I got a sweet visual kei style jacket :d) and to Akihabara for 2 days (where I got a bunch of games).

The two most fun things were the schools we visited and the concert I went to. The first was a middle school where I learned something interesting about Japan:
Japanese girls love me.
We also went to an all-girls' high school... whoooooo. That was a fun day. Very fun day.... Very fun day. Very fun day.
Very fun day.
Any day when you have to escape from a mob of twenty squealing 16 year old Japanese girls asking for kisses to get home is a fun day in Cody's book. Made some cool friends that day too. This is also the day I gained the nickname Kakkoii, because that's what I got called by a bazillion girls (is blue hair really that rare in Japan?) XD.

And just like America, they wanted to get me into a dress. They had all the guys put on kimonos, and they voted me "Kimono Queen." I got some pictures I may post up. :d

The concert was freakin' AWESOME. Five visual kei bands: JuliaDoll, UnsraW, SuG, Girugamesh, and Screw. UnsraW was the craziest, and by far the best. Japanese fangirls are vicious and scary. One broke my friend's toe and bloodied his nose while she was dancing. D:

The most important and interesting thing I learned about Japan while I was there; and the view was also held by several Americans living in Japan that I talked to; is that all the steriotypes of Japanese people being very stiff and formal, "business like" people, are wrong. That would never work in a society that focuses on the community over the individual.
The Japanese are actually very laid back and super-friendly and crazy, like Americans... only probably wilder. I don't think I saw anyone behave in a formal manner while I was there.
Made me realize how stiff and disconnected from each other we Americans are, and how our formality and individualism kinda keeps us apart.

In summary:
Japan- Party party party drink smoke fart puke party some more.
America- Our party is the only party on the block. Ignore the sounds from next door. Now who's next on Pin the Tail on the Donkey?

Saw a Jrock concert with Unsraw, SuG, Screw, Girugamesh, and JuliaDoll. Unsraw live was the coolest thing I've ever seen.
