here's my opinion on the differences between east and west.

-west is fluid storytelling, east is about art. the animation in westerns are pretty straight forward; just use it to show the character movements. but eastern ones use the animation itself to show the story.

-3D is overrated. nowadays all the westerns are in 3D, it's nice and all, but there are things that 2D can accomplish where 3D can't. eastern recognises that.

-character designs are off the roof. again it's artistic, westerns are good at character designs, but it's the eastern ones that go out of the box.

-storylines are always unique. Pixar are good at what they do, but their storyline's ALWAYS the same. (Guy leaves home, learns something important then goes back home). the real good eastern storylines are always unique.

Day 2 just ended, and it went swell! spoilt my day in the beginning cos i saw 3 cross dressers (Ugh!) but there were many good cosplayers that were around.

more Lavis and Ls. i swear they just don't get tired of that. the Espada came back again, this time Aizen showed up. the Gundam cosplayer made his debute appearence, and everyone was stunned. i also saw Ironman as well. too bad those 2 didn't really meet face to face, i wanted them to duke it out.

saw 2 yoai scenes, one of which was between an L and a Kanda (they don't mix, i know. but they did it just for fun) afterwards everyone got into a fight and well.......this happened. [link]

i also saw some little kids cosplaying, so cute!! some of my friends and school mates were there, i had a great time chatting with them, along with some other people that were with them.

the finale was awesome; everyone got onto the stage and danced to Caramelldansen....TWICE!! those from TP did their speacial dance that they came up with. would have posted that, but while filming my camera battery ran out on me and i lost the footage!! AAAAHHHHH!! >A<"

i haven't been submitting anything much either. been trying to draw guys recently. *GASP!*


they looked a bit retarded at first, but i think i can draw a decent looking bishounen now. but when i tried to draw girls again, i encountered an art block! *grumble* gotta make it a habit to draw both genders at the same time every time i practice...

and i finally got a laptop! it's a MacBook Pro. i also ordered an A4 intuos tablet due to arrive next week. plus i got a copy of Photoshop CS3 extended all in one day. my dad gave me a talk after that about not letting him down now that he's given me some decent tools of the trade. well, i don't want to let myself down either...

i plan to explore other parts of manga drawing. i might want to explore more on action sequences and emotional set-ups. i found some pretty good examples too; Oh!Great's Air Gear. Oh!Great's a master at action sequences, gotta study his paneling carefully...

hopefully by the end of this year, i might be able to master young adults and teenagers and move on to older, middle aged people. gotta learn to draw those too....yeah.

4) equallity for ALL SEXES!!! i'll treat both guys and gals equally. i have absoloutly NO qualms on scolding a girl in front of everyone, or even hitting her for that matter (if she REALLLLY deserves it). the only leeway i'll give is that girls tend to be sensitive on *certain* issues. (cos guys can be sensitive too)

5) my philosophy on 'Mature' is; "Being mature is knowing when NOT to be mature". i believe that we should never let ourselves be serious all the time. (Stress gives you wrinkles ) instead those whom i believe are really mature are those who know when to take things seriously and when not to.

6) i like to wakeboard, even though i've only done it once! ^^" but i'll save up and do it regularly! must learn to manage my money well.....

7) when i watch animated movies, i tend to pick up the importent parts. so basically i 'study' them. it's hard cos i want to enjoy the movie at the same time and i can't do both! >.<" (tekkon kinkreet......best!)

8) i want to travel around the world! before i picked up manga drawing i wanted to be a photographer, so that way i could travel all over the world and take memories back with me. prehaps one day when i've saved up enough money, i'll just go back-packing for one and a half years. that sounds fun!

right now studying, my course requires me to broaden my imagination; as if it can't get any more wilder and confusing then it has already. sometimes i have to vocally hush myself in order to keep my thoughts in check, so as to not confuse myself any longer. yet i keep wondering; what now? what then?


long i have been in the shadows watching life go by. i didn't really cared back then. it a way, it was convinient to live like that. now that i'm no loger alone, i find it hard to accept those around me, mostly baecause i never accepted anyone to begin with. it's kinda like a first time experience, or rather for this case, a long forgotten experience.


i'm very grateful for God to have given me a good foot hold in the artist's world in drawing manga. sure, i still have a lot to learn, but then again that's all part and parcel of talent building right? with this gift i know, as do everyone in DeviantART, that with just a pencil we artists can create our own worlds, shape the universe in our minds as we see fit, and even daringly show our sadness, our misery and pain to others, and they won't even know it's you. for that i am grateful, all so grateful.


i will not allow myself to be consumed by the shadows again, neither will i allow myself to be consumed by self-pity. we are all born with a purpose to fulfill, and so we must strive on to do so. My faith in God, and my believe in choice, shall guide me all the way through.

It was then i thought of how a friend of mine kept her faith to God, and that made her life very happy. always before then, i've always believed that i should put my love ones before me, even in religion. that if God ever had a line-up queue, i'd just wait in the corner until all my love ones are done then preceed. but i konw that's not true, God is better than that, he doesn't have a line-up queue because he doesn't need one.

so i thought of it, that i should just try to open up more, more than i've ever had....to God, to all my love ones. then prehaps, just prehaps i can find that warmth that i've been looking for for so long....

the first thing i saw when i got there was a stormtrooper. i guess only in Singapore you see people cosplaying as stormtroopers. i ask to take his photo, and he gladly obliged. so many people there dressed as so many different characters!!!

out of all the different anime, the most popular one was Bleach!! gotta love bleach, almost every character from bleach was cosplayed there! i saw with my own eyes the ENTIRE group of captains and leutenents there!!! all from squad 1 to 13!! yes, i saw ichigo, and i saw chado! i even saw the lame celeberty shamen. all togther now........BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

they had a competion on cosplaying sketches, see who could act out their characters. we had bleach (the frog hollow was kinda cute, some of you who was there might agree with me..) we had gundam seed destiny, and a few other anime i don't really recognize.... two winners will be selected to represent Singapore in the world cosplay competition!! in the end, it was two girls dressed like Lacus Clyne and Lunamaria. good job!!!!!

there was also a few illustrations there too. they had a grafittee wall to let anyone sktch something there. there were people younger then me who drew pictures there better than me, i'm so envious....
and also, i FINALLY met Toounit face to face!! we shook hands, talked for a while, he gave me a few tips, thank you!!! prehaps we could keep in touch soon, i wish to learn more from you!! oh btw, anyone who wants to see a pic of him, let me know. (you know you want to....)

all in all, pics were good, there was this hot gal dressed like Mai...apparently not wearing any panties or a bra (i'll leave your imagination up to you...) and there were poeple going around with those japanese dolls. so life-like......i want one too, but it's not very practical.....dunno where to keep it, plus they're so darn expensive......the most well-dressed cosplayer was a predator, complete with laser pointer on his face plate. one time when he was busy fixing his costume up and me watching, it pointed to a guy's croutch.....imagine if a real predator did that, what would happen next i wonder......

been thinking lots about how i feel for my friends. do they consider me as one? have i done enough to be considered as one? i care a lot for my friends. i won't say i'm boasting, but i put all those whom i hold dear to before anything else. once, a thought came to my mind. it was as if the devil personally came inside to tempt me. what if you're efforts to be a true friend were futile? what if in the end, all those you consider as friends will just forget you, leave you behind as if you never existed? i've been there before; a world without friends, without those you can hold precious to. i won't go back to that world, i refuse to. that is why when some people say that they prefer to be alone without friends, i laugh at their faces. they don't know what they are getting themselves into. what idiots. my reply to that thought?
