But yeah, I'm sitting here reading the third article I've seen in a week talking about video games. This one's old news to me since it's talking about the online video game tournament gambling ring, but still ... what the heck?

I was also surprised to find out the sector's the only major growth entertainment industry in the US. last year it had an overall growth of 34% (compared to a box office growth of 4% and a decline in video sales).

Seriously surprises the crud out of me.

I need a quick study break. Here's my 5 trivia facts:


1) I hate modern country music with a passion (curse you steel guitar!), but I am an absolute sucker for Bluegrass. Banjos, harmonicas, and fiddles are completely and totally awesome. (little surprise, then, that "Oh brother, where art thou?" is one of my most favorite movies in the history of ever.)

2) I keep telling people this, and no one believes me, but I'm really not a boob-guy. I just draw them. *shrug* Lack of intelligence is actually my #1 turn-off.

d) Deadpool is still my favorite comic book hero ever ... even though I'm pretty sure he's going to abandon his own title (and cult of fans) and join an Avengers crew of some sort. T_T

%) My hands shake something awful. I'm pretty sure it's somehow related to my general anxiety disorder, but yeah, my hands shake pretty darn bad (i.e. I can't paint with natural mediums ... unless I go for a Pollack splatter style). Women I date think it's kinda cute though.

O) I have 116 video games in my collection that I've never beaten. D:

SECRET CUPID!!

What's this you ask? It's basically a Secret Santa, where entrants have to ask for a fictional heart-throb that they want a pin-up of.

This is just a fun community event. Logistical rules to follow:


1) respond to this journal and say something along the lines of "I want in"

2) In your entry plea, you MUST specify who your heart-throb is (preferably make it a character that IS NOT your own).

3) Additionally, supply links to reference images of your heart throb. The idea is to let people be able to work on your request in secret without having to ask for images of a specific character

4) tell your friends or put shout-outs in your journal. not necessarily required, but more artists means more gifts means more pin-ups

5) This is also open to women. If you girls have a hunk heart-throb, throw your hat in.

DEADLINES

1) Entries to join the contest must be in by February 10th, at which point I'll hold a random secret drawing and notify everyone of who they'll be drawing.

2) on February 13th, a pencil sketch should be ready. I'm getting a late start on the event, but I figure 3 days should be enough time to get together some loose pencils so that us unfortunate single folks can have some sort of consolation prize on the day of doom.

3) full-finished pictures should be handed out by the end of the month.

So yeah, I'm actually in Orlando Florida until the 21st.

Just to joke-complain a little bit so that it doesn't seem like I'm trying to rub it in your faces ... heart problems carrying over from finals caffeine rush are slightly getting to me. I'm glad I'm not going to a Six Flags, 'cause even on some of the bigger coasters in the Disney parks (which are like ... cake walk compared to the Six Flags monsters) I'm still feeling some chest pains. T_T Additionaly, those veins that run up/down the inside of your legs? yeah, they started hurting like the dickens and stiffening up my legs. T_T oh well, 'least I don't need any more caffeine for a month. yay!

I saw Beowulf because it was in 3D IMAX. that part was awesome. Even though the render qualities were VERY inconsistent (sometimes it looked real, others it looked like it came from Blizzard, others out of Shrek 1, and other from total garbage) ... and all the clothing looked like it was based off the archaic Shrek 1 model system ... 3D IMAX for a major film was really really awesome.



Anyways ...


What was the morale of the movie version?


I still hated the movie itself. It was a classic Zemekis production = it spent the entire movie with its head up its arse because of how awesome it thought it was. >_>


The other thing was I went in not knowing what Beowulf was. Afterwards I though, well hey ... that was kind of good, but why does everyone like it so much. Then I did some basic research and found out the themes and events of the story were radically changed in the movie.


So ... here's my question: What was the morale of the Zemekis version? Seriously, I've thought about it, and I can't figure out what the guy was getting at. Because the morale is obviously tied into the deviations from the text, but I still can't figure out a CONSISTENT reason for it.

So afterwards I remembered something: whenever I eat a really good meal that doesn't leave me stuffed, I'm in the mood to make out with a really hot woman. However, this is a problem since I don't have a girlfriend. This problem is compounded by the fact that I'm broke, horribly busy with school, and live in my parents' basement. Which means I had to go without making out tonight.
