    :bulletblue: Talk of another group contest :bulletblue:


Alector suggested that we hold another contest. I would personally love to, but I'm hesitent due to the really poor turnout our first contest had.

Listen, if we're gonna really hold another contest, you need to help us by making it count. Please please please submit more than one piece. Firesprite and I cannot, obviously, since we're judging. We may even hold a memberwide vote with this one. But we NEED your support to make it happen.

Keep in mind that this is the ONLY Oddworld-themed club on DeviantART (to my knowledge), and keeping it alive is a team effort. I know I've been slacking lately, and I really have no place to talk about laziness, but I promise to do my part by being more active in the club.

    -Also, we'll need suggestions for the theme of the next contest. Reply to this entry with any ideas.

    :bulletred: Issues with people logging into the club :bulletred:


We need to make a new rule. This rule shall state that only Mods of the club can log into the club.

Last time someone logged in, whoever did had faved a picture of my character, Actra. This is against club rules. Fan characters featured here, if any, must be of a species that already exists in the game. The same goes with faves.

Listen, I really appriceate the extra help, and if someone did give you permission, then that's good. But I wasn't informed of this, and I kind of want to know who logs in and out, and I had previously thought it was either Firesprite or me.

I'm not mad, and nobody's in trouble, but I'd just like to ask that you leave the moderating to Firesprite and I, at least until we hold Mod elections.

Oh, yeah. And I also want to hold a Mod-assistant election soon. Tell me whether or not you want the job, and I'll add you to the list.

    The title of the contest is called "Portrait of a Hero." This is an open contest to all who wish to participate, members and non-members alike.

    Your task is to do a (completed) piece of art featuring one of the three heroes of Oddworld's three games (that would be either Abe, Munch, or Stranger) depicted in a formal portrait style.
    Some of the guidelines include:

    :bulletblue: The character featured must be cut off at either the mid-chest or waist. It cannot be a head or full-body shot.

    :bulletblue: Nothing that you wouldn't do in either a school or formal photo. No pictures of Abe giving us the bird, please. (with three fingers, that's kind of difficult anyway.)

    :bulletblue: Nothing you wouldn't bring home to mom. That means nothing provocative! Even Munch knows that he's not sexy or was never meant to look sexy.

    :bulletblue: Each image must be COMPLETED. This means fully colored. We cannot stress this enough. NO SKETCHES OR INKS.

    :bulletblue: Once again, the characters that must be featured are Abe the Mudokon, (Latamire) Munch the Gabbit, or Stranger (who can appear as either his true Steef form or his disguise, since it's him either way).

    :bulletblue: You may only create a portrait of ONE of the three heroes, and you may only submit one image.

    Firesprite and I will not be submitting anything, as we'll have our hands full with all of your submissions. There will be a series of three or four polls to be judged by all of you. Entries will be featured in updated journal entries.

    The contest starts now, and an ending date will be determined soon (as will a grand prize), so hurry up and work on those portraits!

    This is for members who enjoy the Oddworld Quintology (a cool Oddworld term for "saga") so much that they waste their precious time drawing up fan art. Like me and Sarah, for example.

    You might be asking, "But Matt, how do I join?"
    Well, the answer's simple. You can leave me, =dipstikk or Sarah, ~firesprite a note with links to 3 a(count 'em, three) of your Oddworld pieces.
    If you make any more after you've become a member, then drop me a friendly note showing me your new piece.
    They have to follow the rules, or we can't accept them.

    Of course, there are rules to follow.

    1. No fan characters besides species that are featured in the Quintology or the Stranger series. This is strictly Oddworld.

    2. No dirty pictures. If I see any notes with, oh say, 2 Mudokons in a compromising posiotion, YOU WILL BE BANNED. No exceptions.

    3. No bashing another member or their art. We all want an equal oppertunity here, so don't ruin it.

    4. Respect your fellow Mud-erator. This is either myself or Sarah.

    5. Be origional. Try not to just trace a picture of Abe's concept art from Abe's Oddysee. If I see a picture that I know you traced form somewhere, I won't accept it.


    Follow these four rules and we'll all get along just fine.
