SECRET COMIC ORIGIN STORY: ~kitsune-tsuki-sakan and I were in summer school economics. Being summer school economics, we were bored out of our skulls. So we decided to make our lives into a manga. Then it evolved and the characters aren't really us and our friends anymore, but Rhi started off as me.

In my biochem class, we were supposed to have a test today and our final tomorrow. Since I opted to take the test on Friday, I didn't have to go to class.

Today is the day of technological box-putting. All the cords need unplugged and untangled and twisty-tied and labeled and put into a box. My iMac is going to look so alone, with it's like two cords and no scanner and printer and other computer. Actually, I may box up Aristotle, and just leave the Dell Without Internet and spend tomorrow playing games while I wait for my mom to stop having a job and take me to school to move in.

I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the Behemoth. It was a good car. that only got 14 mpg highway, but

Observations so far: Reno is a mouthy little bastard, and whistles constantly. Also, he thinks he is the shit, and tries to be all dominant. Cloud was having none of this, and cuffed him about the head with her wing, then went to brood in a corner.

Dear Everybody:

Sorry for being unprecedentedly bitchy this past week or so. I hate using my myriad anxiety disorders as an excuse, but, well... I'm using my myriad anxiety disorders as an excuse. I don't know why, but just about everything's been triggering panic attacks lately, and I've been really snappish, anti-social, and really damn rude as a result. I'm taking, essentially, a week-long hiatus from life (so until next quarter rolls around) to try and restore my functionally-crazy equilibrium (rather than my incapacitatingly severe-panic-every-time-the-phone-goes-off one). Until then, and I say this is the most loving way possible, I'm basically going to be avoiding everyone. Do not try to coerce me into being social, don't call me unless your house is on fire or something equally important, and if you absolutely must get in touch with me, I'm pretty good at responding to e-mail.

Not the best coping mechanism, perhaps, but it's about the only way for me to deal right now.

1. What was your first cosplay? (Think hard on this)
Technically, technically, I cosplayed as Sirius Black's Mother's Portrait at a Harry Potter party when I was like... 14? 13? Something?
But the first anime cosplay I did was Youko Kurama, from Yuu Yuu Hakusho.

2. Did someone get you into cosplay? Or on your own?
I've always been the dressing up in silly costumes type, and then I found the anime con. "You mean, people do that? And don't think it's weird? AWESOME."

3. What is your favourite cosplay?
HHHHHHHmmmmmmmm the as-yet-to-be-revealed Vexen. Youko was fun, but I can be in character as Vexen. Also, I won't be wearing a tank top in the November chill.

4. Which is your least favourite?
My never-revealed-because-it-never-panned-out Count D cosplay. I made half-assed beginnings at the costume, and it was going great, and then my boobs went up a cup size, and then my snazzy brocade cheongsam no longer fit.

5. At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays?
Sometimes. Mostly, there is glomp-rape.

6. How many have you done?
Counting the Harry Potter and Failure-D, five. Legitimate cosplays? Three. Kurama, Bakura, and Vexen.

Making them. I love it. Especially props and accessories. <3333 I am the official propsmaster for my little cosplay enclave, and it's great.

Probably running into ~FaiaOokami in my Youko costume. She was Hiei, and we had a grand old time running around the con (we found a black-haired Shuuichi, too. It was awesome.) The most memorable moment was probably the entirety of the Shounen Ai panel XD

12. Your dream cosplay?
Kuronue, definitely. He's got a fun character design, and his costume would be so disgustingly fun to make. It helps that I adore Yuu Yuu Hakusho (could you tell >.> )

Completed cosplay, Ryou Bakura (which I threw together in about, oh, 45 minutes before Otaku Omaha), but in progress Vexen and the Chocobo (first needing only a shield, second in the design stages).

Anyway, my distressing development is this: I have carpal tunnel syndrome D : THIS IS RATHER DISTRESSING. Luckily it's only in my left (non-dominant) wrist. However, my fingers have felt asleep on that hand for the past two weeks or so. D< I AM NOT DOWN WITH THIS. THIS IS AN UNCOMFORTABLE SENSATION.

And because I hate leaving journal entries a mass of whinyness, I shall share with you our new-ish (okay, we've had her for like three weeks or so...) kitty.

Charcoal drawings are like stippling in massive amounts: I have to do it every year or so, just so I can remember exactly why I detest the medium, usually never use it. Just like the stippled life-size brain I did for anatomy. And now, I can go another year before subjecting myself to the FAIL that is charcoal.

First, I arrived in time for the opening ceremonies for the first time in a few years, and my sister got a shoutout for cosplaying as Seto Kaiba. Then, the rules were gone over in the format of an Ouran High School Host Club skit that made my sould sing. After that I moseyed on over to the Dealer's Room/Artists alley, and was accosted by a girl dressed as Haku (from Naruto), who I going as Hiei tomorrow. As I am cosplaying Youko, I was pleased, so we wandered into the dealer's room and were generally dorky. There was much doujinshi, and I wanted it. Really badly, but I am a doujinshi whore.

Then, then. Then. Then the most amazing thing happened. It made my life forever. I am still riding the happy wave.

I found a Petshop of Horrors artbook.

Now, you may be all, 'huh?', but this is amazing because you can't find Petshop stuff anywhere. I had to special-order the manga, and the (four episode, undubbed) anime isn't even available on DVD, I think. Awesome series, though. So I blew my entire anime con budget on that artbook, because it was hella expensive. But SO WORTH IT.

OH OH AND TSUKI. I got HunterxHutner 17. Feel free to borrow it.

I got tons of hugs, because I was cosplaying. People kept petting my tail, but I'm down with that. The Youko needs more lovin'.

Anyway. Went back to school toady after having SIX DAMN WEEKS of mono. I'm still not feeling 100%. This disease sucks. HARDCORE. It means I can't do speech for like... a really long time. D: EEEEEMMMOOOOO~

My mother dragged me to the mall after school to return a bunch of bras, and I ended up shopping for pants. We were in Layne Bryant, because, hey, we could return the bras there instead of shipping them back to the place mom ordered them from (go figure). She ended up coercing me into buying pants. CONCLUSION: women's pant sizing makes no sense. And Layne Bryant apparently has this new sizing system ranging from 1-8, which I can only assume is to make the people who shop there feel better about having to shop at a 'fat person store'. I'm like >: | This is FAILURE. I know what size of pants I wear, i don't feel bad about wearing a 16, and I WANT MY DAMNED PANTS, KTHNX. So we had to get the sales lady assistant person to come and measure me for their new system. I was irate. And I couldn't find a bra that fit, so in my book, it was a wasted trip. Shopping = very much hate. Forever.

Then mom dragged me to Penny's, and we ended up buying me a bunch of guys' shirts. CONCLUSION: Guys' clothes are WAY more comfy than girls' clothes. See also: FLANNEL. Although I couldn't get any shirts that button because I keep... popping buttons. FRUSTRATION. But in any case, I'm all 'MOM. I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR CLOTHES SHOPPING I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO RETURN STUFF AND LEAVE?' and she's all 'I'll buy you cosplay stuff!' and I'm all '... You're way too good at bribing me.'.
CONCLUSION: My mom is weird. But cool.

Then I came home and my sister is all 'Dude, Pi, that shirt makes you look like a lesbian.' And I'm all 'ft, at least I'm a comfy lesbian.'

CONCLUSION: I am the worst 'girl' ever. But I'm okay with that. It means I get to watch gory anime and think chick flicks are trite, stupid, and boring. Bah. Romance. *scurries off to re-watch Yu Yu Hakusho for the 987623957th time*.

And indeed, to my satisfaction, she pulls up short, no doubt expecting my usual reply of "oh, nothing" or "photoshop". Then however, she comes out with an unexpected reply. "Oh... well. You have to work on your cosplay costume sometime this weekend."

Hark! Do mine ears deceive me? Is my mother, paragon of education, prompt completion of homework, and the person who keeps going back to college to get more Masters' Degrees, actually encouraging procrastination of my mathematic bamboozlement in lieu of committing the better part of my day to frivolous anime-related ditherings? Surely, I think, I must have misheard. Perhaps my fever is coming back; I'm relapsing! I'm delirious!

With great trepidation, I inqure "My... cosplay?"

And my mother replies. "Yes. You need to get your tail made, if you want to wear your costume on Wednesday."

I, my world now turned on its ears, feebly attempt to restore the equilibrium to the situation. "But... I have to get this done?"

Now, my mother has an expression of mild annoyance on her face. "Yes, I know, but I was expecting you to work on your costume this weekend." She then proceeded to leave my cave-like bedroom, leaving me thoroughly bewildered.

But it's really bad this year. My unbelievable neurosis has led to me having panic attacks in math and oral comm. I am a textbook case for an anxiety disorder. Hoo-rah. It's really randomly bizarre: I'm perfectly fine in Photography, Anatomy, and Creative Writing, and I have full-blown shaking-crying-ohgod when will it stop-heart pounding panic attacks in math (and recently about Oral Comm.)

(Warning: Annoying, Bitchy Whining ahead.)

I live in terror of sixth period, because Ohgod Mrs. Butler is going to call on me. Like when we're checking homework. And... it's weird. Even if I have the answer, I'll be like "Uhm... I didn't get that one", or if the person before me got it wrong "I got the same thing she did". And then I turn out to be right. Every damn time. It's ridiculous. And I've also got this weird dyslexic thing going on with numbers. Discalculia, I think it's called? But I don't have many symptoms of it, just the bit about not being able judge time or directions, and this number thing I do. I switch signs and numbers: 3(Xx-4) + 7 (X^3) ends up something like 3(Xx 4) - 3(X^7), which is completely different. It's worse when I'm under pressure (tests and stuff), and of course my driving perfectionism leads me to believe the 70% I got on my last test means I'm a failure. I'm seriously worrying about getting a C+ or better, and questioning whether I'm going to take Calculus next year (and the answer is leaning to a resounding 'no'. And to think I used to like Math.

My personal theory lays the blame squarely at the feet of Ms. Penner, who is infamous in Lincoln and is damn scary. I'd answer questions in Math before I had her in 7th grade, but if you got a question wrong in Penner's class, she'd mock you. I, being insecure and easily intimated, and who has never been able to do math quickly, panicked, got things wrongs, was mocked, became shaken up, and wasn't able to do anything right for the rest of that class. I was out of there in nine weeks, but the damage was done. I'm pretty sure I never volunteered answers in a math class ever since.

But the real bitch about this is my paralyzing fear of public speaking has come back to haunt me. It's dogged my all my life, ever since I was really little, but I thought I'd finally managed to shake it in ninth grade. Last year, I joined the Speech team, and had the time of my life. Therefore, I signed up for Oral Comm Forensics, which is the competitive speech class. Oh-ho, but little did I know that my anxiety would come back with a vengence and kick me in the ass. So I've been having regular panic attacks all weekend about giving this DI on Monday, and I've been getting no sleep, and the 'fast-acting' over-the-counter panic-attack pills my mother has aren't helping. And goddammit, if I don't figure out something soon, I'm not going to be able to do speech. I don't think not being able to stand for shaking is going to win me any rounds.

Gah. Take Zoloft, and the panics attacks go away, or don't take it and don't do speech. I have a deep distrust of mind-altering drugs, but this is seriously becoming a problem. It's hurting my grades, and it's making something I know I love a looming, horrible terror. GAAAAAAAAH.



PS: Does it bother anyone else that you can't enter your own mood on dA's mood icons now? That's bugged me for a while.

The teacher got all sorts of free stuff from the Ampersand paper company, and since there were CRAPTONS of stuff left over, I got to take home goodies. And by goodies, I mean a two-inch-thick stack of really nice, heavy bristol board and about fifty dollars worth of 5"x7" clayboard. This makes me a happy gryphon. Also also! I have a new camera and it is amazing.

...Yeah, so it sucks. And it's not definately bronchitis; it's either bronchitis or the flu or both. FUN SHIT.

BITCHING AHEAD. YE HAVE BEEN WARNED.

So... I had a fever of like 101.7 or something this morning. I've been practically overdosing on Ibuprophen to both keep the fever down and to keep the headache from killing me. I've been hacking up phlegm, and there seems to be crap in my lungs. I'm super tired; on the ride back from the doctor, it was tiring and painful for me to hold my head up. It's like forty degrees and I'm SHIVERING in two shirts and a hoodie. Walking from my driveway to my kitchen made me shaky and dizzy. I'M REALLY GLAD I'M NOT DRIVING. Sitting upright is becoming an actual concious effort; it's actually more weird than worrying right now.

I made probably 27 typos in that paragraph. This usually only happens after EXTREME SLEEP DEPRIVATION. Luckily, I'm slightly obsessive, and I hope I caught most of them.

But the kicker? The earliest- this means with HEAVY DUTY anti-biotics, hoping this thing is bacterial, mind- the earliest I'll start feeling human again is Thursday, the day I can return to the place of scholarly endeavours. If this shit is viral I'm out till...
Okay, basic math skills are leaving me... lessee... 10 days from now *counts on fingers* NEXT FREAKING THURSDAY D: I emo.

...I still need to post Halloween photos! Beacuse I'm lame and haven't yet. But let me assure you, IT WAS AWESOME.

So was Anime Nebraskon. Needa post photos from that. There were some ass-kicking cosplayers; I was impressed.
Anime people are so nice. I had a super great time, and drank a lot of Ramune. For those of you who don't know what that is, Ramune is a kind of Japanese soda that kinda tastes like cream soda (it's really good!). It's gimmicky selling point is... IT'S SEALED WITH A MARBLE. OMG HOLEHCRAP.

Serisouly, these things are a bitch to open. GAWD.
So there I am, struggling to open my Ramune bottle, when this Edward Elric cosplayer comes up and is all: "You want some help?"
And I'm like: "OHGODPLEASE YES!"
So she puts in on thop of the trashcan (they had these huge lidded trashcans right in the middle of the dealers room) and gives it a hearty twack, so as to disloge the marble. The marbles doesn't disloge, but the (glass!)bottle goes flying. Luckily, it didnt break. So she trys again. This time? The marble is sucessfully dislodged.

And, since it had just gone flying halfway across the dealers room, the thing explodes all over the place, including myself and Ed (who from that point on I reffered to, in my mind, as Ramune!Ed, because you can be involved in a sticky explosion of Japanese pop without taking home some memories.)

So that's pretty much my most interesting story. Other than that, I purchased a wallscroll the size of my door for like twelve dollors, an utterly magnificent Urahara Hat, and my sister won a prize in the cosplay contest. I was proud.

Oh, and my dogs ate all the pocky I brough home, because they stole it from the kitchen counter.

Sweet Zombie Christ, there was just this enormous-ass wolf spider in my room. I mean, shit this thing was effing HUGE.

Augh. I reorganized a pile of sketchbooks that live in my bookcase, and that's where the little one came from. OHGOD MY HAND WAS SO CLOSE TO IT HOLYCRAP. And now my brain is SCREAMING at me that that's where the big one came from even though those things were so fecking packed onto that shelf that I would've SEEN the damn thing, 'cause I've got radar and JESUS CHRIST ENORMOUS.

And now I think that every drop of water from my hair is a spider, and the little bits of blowing air I can feel from the vent are a spider, and I'm hallucinating spiders out of the corner of my vision fuuuuuuuuck...

Yeah, I'm just gonna sleep upstairs on the couch. Mom's bedroom is up there; she can kill the little bastards with a shoe if any happen.

My little yahoo messenger icon keeps blinging at me and telling me that I have mail. This is all well and good, except when I click the little letter icon to go to said mail inbox, yahoo opens up realplayer and begins to play the Nightmare of Zaoldyeck musical I was ranting about downloading in the previous entry. It's not like it's a huge, major thing... I mean, it only take like two seconds to type in [link] in the adress bar, but it's really odd.

Yeah, so I'm downloading this thing called "Nightmare of the Zaoldyeck", which is a live-action musical based off an anime, because I am a total dork like that. This monster of a Bittorrent file is like three gigs, but I can deal with that. What I cannot deal with is downloading three gigs at less than ONE KB PER SECOND. Although it seems to jump from like .1 Kbps (seriously) to like... 55 Kbps and back again. And it went from reading 21 days remaining to... three days and 10 hours in a day, so I guess that's OK. And I can work some iMovie magic and compress this monstrosity, so it doesn't like... crash my harddrive or something. Although loading and converting the damn thing on iMovie will take about two days in itself, but whatever.

So that was my Bittorrent story. Pretty boring, but I felt like sharing. YOU ALL NEED TO KNOW, YOU SEE.

I also went to Mahoney water park to day and cavorted in the wave pool, which was much fun. My only battle scars are a scraped elbow and a sunburnt nose, which is pretty good for spending over three hours in the sun after possessing a vampire-like sun-phobia all summer. GRYPHONS DON'T DO OUTSIDE. OUTSIDE DOESN'T HAVE AIR CONDITIONING OR BROADBAND.

In other news, It is FREAKING DIFFICULT TO FIND A DECENT, AFFORDABLE OBOE. Freaking woodwinds. Freaking $2400 Yamaha Oboes.

On the otherhand, I also just got a lovely $10 Feadog D Major pennywhistle, and it is pure, bronze and green love. I love pennywhistles; you can get them for cheap, and they sound REALLY GOOD. ^_^

And also: Getting my ears pierced again tomorrow. Not by Claire's this time, thank god. Claire's did a HORRIBLE job; they pierced way to high up, and my ears were all yucky and infected. And they the studs were so small that they went back into my ear, and then my ear scabbed over, se we had to push the stud back out from the inside and yeah. Claire's sucks.
