Overall, I adored the game. I would argue that it was better than the first in terms of characters, though the cameos from the first game carried a lot of weight. It was a little weaker with its pacing of animation sequences, since I often felt like what I was watching was a more active reiteration of whatever I had just read/heard in the dialogue. It was only PERFECT during the next-to-last puzzle, since I did not expect the sudden transition from animation to puzzle. It just... kind've pops up and I literally lol'd. "A WARRIOR ALWAYS KEEPS HIS SWORD IN HAND" "*POING*" I solved that puzzle in, like, 10 seconds too, even though it was worth 50 picarats =/.

And I freaking panicked when I kept hearing people here foreshadow a "terrible plot twist". Ugh, you guys, it WASN'T that bad. It was quite appropriate and actually allowed the relevant part of the ending to come through. I cried during the ending, too, and I DON'T cry during anything. I think people say "OMG HALLUCINOGENIC GAS HOW LAME" and... just kind've let that one minor detail that has nothing to do with the theme of the game spoil the ending for them. Not saying that they didn't get anything out of it, but I have heard an awful lot of complaining about it.
I would like to state that there weren't any contradictions with the hallucinogenic gas. If you think about it, there wasn't any real evidence that Katia saw what we saw- she may have seen everything for what it was the entire time. While Layton had bits and pieces figured out, he wasn't completely sure what was going on until Katia explained everything to Anton. Anton was deliberately living in the hallucination and Luke just doesn't figure things out quickly. Arguably, Layton may should have seen Anton's true nature a few moments before it was shown since we are primarily playing from his perspective and not Luke's, but it's no worse than the fudging that directors do in other great movies/games for the sake of suspenseful and dramatic pacing.
In case this is an issue as well, it makes perfect sense that Layton and Luke should have seen the young Anton because they did have a preconception of what he looked like from the family portrait in the museum. I can't really justify Nigel, who is a minor character after all, but when the two protagonists knew they were seeing the current Duke Herzen and heard all of the rumors about town of him not having aged, it makes sense that they saw Anton as they did.
The only thing that made me go a little =/ was that Dr. Schrader woke up. He just wasn't that important by the end. But seeing the Professor wink was 100% worth it.

OKAY, now for some general pros and cons.

Pros:

+: The fact that they can't say the word "pregnant" in an E10+ game. It's so funny that it qualifies as a pro.

+: Anton's voice. Oh baby. I heard some butthurt over this as well, but he really did sound like a vampire to me, so I preferred that over some stereotyped accent. In addition, his voice as an old man was perfect.

+: Folsense. Between the introduction sounds of each chapter, the music when you return to the parked train car, or just the vibrantly lit, yet oppressively empty and frightening atmosphere of the last town, this game demonstrated excellent skill in the fright department. The game was still innocent enough, but I felt my hair stand up on end at times.

+: Integrating puzzles into the storyline. Made the ending sequence of animations sooo much more rewarding and, throughout the game, it ensured even more Layton-and-Luke artwork than before, since we'd see them drawn into the puzzles.

+: The fact that they even managed to have puzzles of a quality comparable to those in the previous title. Consistency in quality is a very, very good thing.

+: The scene where, you know, Anton tied up the Professor in ropes and talked about drinking his blood. Preemptive con -: The fact that it didn't actually happen. Oh, and that a minor was present. D= Ffff Luke.
I don't like yaoi plz, but oh baby.

Cons:

-: Some of the puzzles. There were literally 2 or 3 puzzles in which I had to guess my OBJECTIVE, so I just kept putting in random stuff until I got the question right. There were even more puzzles that would have benefited from better wording.

-: Hints. OMG, they were so bad in this game. The first one would either restate the puzzle with little variation or tell me to look again. By the time you get to the third hint, it either tells you the answer or a one-step method for finding it. When Layton and Luke recieve the tea set, it is quite apparent that they only have two teacups. One is orange-rimmed for Layton, and the other blue-rimmed for Luke. Also remember that Layton goes around brewing tea for complete strangers for them to drink. With only two cups and a teapot, and not wanting to risk Luke catching the H1N1 virus because, as a child, he has fewer immunities than the Professor, I can only come to one conclusion.
Layton offers his own teacup to strangers for them to drink from.

And now, to test my theory. Hah! Wonderful!

Second, Lux-Pain is scaring me BAD. DX

Most importantly, what kind of PokeMon hats would you want to be available for purchase? I've made two more and this time they actually fit! Pics will be available as soon as is possible, pending on the functionality of my computer.
I'm not quoting prices except to irl friends because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but I will say that my drive to make these hats shall result in a number of products that exceed the amount that I would ever use. I also assure you that, compared to the likes of other artist's I've seen making similar hats, my intended prices are very competitive. Read: much lower. Read: no horrific price gouging.
So please, assuming you had the funds and the means to buy a beautiful, quality PokeMon hat, which ones would you want? List as many as you want, even if you couldn't buy that many. In addition, would you buy an especially pretty PokeMon hat, even if the PokeMon wasn't your favorite?

EDIT: The hats I have thus far: Lucario and one which I can't reveal for a few more days. Pics coming as SOON as my computer's fixed.
What I'm working on: Charizard, Togekiss, Drifloon, Luxray.

He's a short, shady bad guy that laughs like "Eheh heh heh heh heh..." in a grunting, rasping voice with oily black hair that's been slicked back, with big pink lips, and those round, oblivious eyes. I KNOW I've seen this guy in some kid's cartoon movie before, and I keep thinking "Oliver and Company". Does anyone know who I'm talking about? I wanna say this guy wore a biege dress suit.

Solid Snake. This is my goal for Animazement, and I'll be darned if my cosplay isn't complete, hopefully a couple of weeks before the con so I can relax.

One thing you must understand is that you'll never see my cosplay in it's entirety until after the convention, only bits and pieces of completed areas, meaning these posts will contain pictures. This has been carefully planned out to generate the most amount of anticipation and excitement, and so you'll be thoroughly impressed with how I most cleverly manage to bring everything together. XP

Lastly, if anyone is doing a cosplay that has similar demands to a specific part of Snake's cosplay and they'd like to ask me how I achieved a certain effect, please feel free to ask. If I'm not comfortable sharing my techniques in the comments section, I will most certainly address your question through a Note.

Up until this point, most material and items needed for the cosplay have been aquired. May need to search for additional odds and ends, such as snaps, velcro, and replenish glue supplies as needed.

Wig and bandana have been done for some time. Completed facial hair make-up test.

Also, I really like how "Otacon's" MGS4 jacket ended up in the background. That was totally unintentional.

I assess that the bandana is perfect and the wig is beyond satisfactory. I may attempt to strengthen my work with the facial hair for the convention, but I have proven that I am more than capable in capturing Snake's unique style.

Furthermore, I have completed sculpting the following with my muscle suit: the pectorals, shoulder pads, biceps, triceps, abdominals, rib cage, and back. I am currently working on Snake's butt. After I have completed that, I will be doing the muscles in his legs, and my priorities there, according to his character model, are abductors, quadriceps, and hamstrings.

Here is an outdated sample of my muscle suit. Since this picture was taken, I have thinned out the back of the abdominals, added the third and final row of abdominals, and added a fifth layer to and finetuned the shape of the shoulderpads. In addition, the other muscle groups that I have completed are not shown here:

That's all the progress I have for now. After I have completed all of the muscle groups, I shall glue the muscles onto my skin-tight suit and sew them in.

Today, walking from class, I saw something I'd never imagined before.

ANYWAY, I haven't made any real progress since last time, though I did finally get my SD card back so I can take pictures at some point. Since, you know, last time the muscle suit pic was severely outdated.

I have two papers to write, with a third one coming up. I'm going to find the time to finish Snake's butt (including the impression of underwear, since, check it, that IS Brawl-canon) and then his legs (focusing on three muscle groups). I know it's a bit ambitious, but I want to have the muscles ready to glue on by the end of this weekend, and perhaps even to start sewing them in. More than anything, I really, really want the base tactical suit by next Friday, since we'll be traveling to my aunt's house for the weekend and I have to select what I'll be bringing to work on.

I've got some extra time on my hands, so I figured I'd touch up on a subject that's been bothering me.

ARE YOU FEELING THE PAIN YET?!
You shouldn't.
Why?
Because us IV breeders and EV trainers are every bit as a PokeMon Trainer as you guys are and we love our PokeMon just as much.
Now, for every group there's a few bad eggs. Heck, there could be a million bad eggs out there. But don't forget, correlation does not equal causation. A person not loving or disrespecting their PokeMon because they're too obsessed with being competitive is subjective to the person, and does not represent the competitive mindset overall. To think otherwise is called stereotyping.

To IV breed/EV train is a choice, just as it is your choice to proceed through the game without ever dabbling in it. Just as you find that the game meets its fullest potential when you disregard all of that and love your PokeMon regardless of its stats, we find the most enjoyment in taking our time to pay utmost attention to each and every PokeMon, training it for battle. In fact, for me, that is the strongest example of love I can provide for my PokeMon. Rather than having random movesets and being a jack-of-all-trades, they obtain their own role on the team and develop a strong sense of identity within it. That's just the way I feel. It's like if an individual were to love the Metal Gear Solid series so much that they went through a no-kill no-alert 5-hour run through each game. I love the series, but that's just not me. The same applies to me indulging in that competitive mindset with PokeMon whereas you do not.

Now, utilizing cheating devices for perfect IVs is... stretching it, because that literally is a matter of chance, and I know I spent probably a month on breeding Eva, my Absol. It was hard work, making sure I was doing everything right. But I'd go so far as to defend people who use cheat devices to program EVs into their PokeMon (within the legal range, obviously) because EV training often comes down to a tedious and long task that some simply don't have the time for.

There is only one true problem that competitive training in PokeMon provides, and that's the battling gap. It's almost impossible for a non-competitive team to take on a competitive team and expect to have any chance. But also, don't forget that PokeMon is becoming more inclusive and fun, especially with this Wi-Fi generation where there are no cables for local play and there's plenty to do over Wi-Fi (even more so when Platinum comes out this weekend). Even if you can't battle with a fellow trainer, you can still have fun with them in PokeMon.

To finish off this thought, ponder the nature of PokeMon Contests, introduced in the Ruby/Sapphire games. The game, in every way, shape, and form, encouraged you to prep your PokeMon so they had the best condition and moveset possible for winning the Contest. This should, therefore, make sense with what PokeMon was about in the first place- battle. After all, in addition to introducing Contests, the Ruby/Sapphire games also introduced an item that recognized EV training- the Macho Brace.

Okay, so I was riding in my car to go to the YMCA and then go to work, right? I popped in Piano Squall for the first time in forever.

I was thoroughly impressed. I was like PSSSH PIANO MUSIC IN THE CAR GOING 55 MPH IS FOR LOSERS. But no. Gluck made me not a loser. I was the cool guy.

You can be the cool guy too. And help charity at the same time. Multiple Sclerosis Society and Race for the Cure.

Like Mr. Gluck himself says, his piano arrangements are familiar, but fresh at the same time. It's like you're sucked into the themes, finding yourself humming the tunes that you know before you even realize what you're singing. There's a romance in that type of piano-playing, too.

And from what I read on the website, it's only $10 and there is no shipping for people in the US. I bought mine at my convention. Very glad they had it there, too, otherwise I would've never known about this guy.

You get the feeling that he really loves music, but for me you guys buying this would be more than that. As a psychologist, I'm most interested in helping people who want to live, but have problems figuring out how. But there are many people who were once able to live fulfilling lives but are forced to succumb to disease. They lose their livelihoods, some even die. I'm not saying that anyone takes their well being or their family's well being for granted, but for the sake of human compassion, and for the sake of technology that may save a beloved family member in the future, please understand the cause that Michael Gluck wishes to serve. He's just really fortunate that he gets to do it with his passion in music. <3 And we're fortunate to be his audience!

Now, if you're all buddy-buddy with every single last employee at your local GameStop location and you're positive that one won't swipe every last pre-order Giratina figure (which is gorgeous, btw), then by all means feel free to ignore this message. Furthermore, if you rely on trade-in credit, once again feel free to just go ahead and do what you want.

But assuming that you want your Giratina figure immediately, and to be sure that you actually GET IT, do yourself a favor and pre-order at Target. For some reason, GameStop is stupid and forces you to wait until March 22nd for your figure. Target has it right there for you. I currently have two pre-order Giratina figures on my computer desk.
Not only that, but let's just say that GameStop has tried to deprive me of the pre-order items that I so thoroughly deserve on more than one occasion. They've only succeeded once, giving me the lame excuse, "Oh, well, you were the only person who pre-ordered from this location so our company didn't think you were worth it". Bs. Someone was probably an Ace Attorney fan and stole the only freaking keychain they got in because it's supposed to be a FREE item and the EMPLOYEE takes priority over the PAYING CUSTOMER.

Not to mention you'll probably get your game on-time, as GameStop seems to be plagued by something called "shipping dates" which causes Tuesday releases to regress to Wednesday.

2. I got Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

3. By the suggestion of , can people look at my drawings overall and tell me if they think I have any bugs in my style or drawing habits? If you said your piece in my previous journal and have nothing to add, then I understand, and thank you again.

4. I had this major issue last night and I need some help. DX See, every girl that dates a guy I'm friends with decided that it would be a GREAT time to suddenly break up with him or whatever. And the majority of my friends' responses were... well, manipulative/clingy, and I took great offense to what they were saying because it's exactly how my ex treated me and made me feel like shit. And I got pissed and decided that all men were pigs and yatta yatta. Simultaneously, I've been sick for 5 weeks and just got a nasty case of conjunctivitis (that's pink eye) and since my eye is constantly hurting, I'm as mean as a viper at any small agitation. It's ridiculous. So last night the friend who I'm most worried about happened to be on AIM. There was some friction between us over the summer, then he got a girlfriend and basically said that I wasn't as valuable anymore/he didn't have time for me. I felt betrayed. And after she broke up with him, he and I talked for about a week. Then he stopped contacting me because he said I hurt him by stating that, even though he can wait for her, there's the possibility that she won't take him back. So I IMed him and he asked me how I was doing or whatever. I felt like snapping necks like Solid Snake at the time, so I said "terrible". He asked me what's wrong and I said how evil men were, etc. Long story short, by the end of it I told him that I was really mad at him and how I did feel betrayed, I cursed a lot... I'm trying to figure out whether or not I was justified because I really wish I could have been strong enough to just not say anything to him. But another friend says it was actually stronger to bring up the issue and make him face it. But given the fact that he's pretty much lost all self-opinion because of this break-up he had, I don't know if he deserved it. I asked him if he thought what I did was right, and he said "I honestly don't know anymore".
Has anyone else been through this situation, and what do they think? Am I just making up excuses so I don't have to call myself weak, or did I do the stronger thing?
The good thing is that after getting it off of my chest, I'm not as mad at him anymore.
And I know, , I'll stop having reasons to bitch about him eventually. DX I promise.

Unfortunately, it will cause a delay in people getting their requests.

I've been thinking that it's not actually that I'm such a bad artist and more that my scanner decimates my pencil strokes. But regardless, people will only be able to see the scanner-in versions.

But like I uploaded something totally atrocious last night and I took it down this morning. It looked fine on paper, but...

So from now on, I'll be scanning things in and not uploading them until two weeks later or something. This is just so I can think about the artwork and avoid further embarassment from uploading stuff that looks like that artwork from last night...

I just got done doing a speech project that almost claimed my life.

Time to ride.

You’ve somehow acquired a magical dimension-splicing conversion van and are planning an epic cross-country road trip with your friends and fandom. First, pick ten travel buddies from anywhere -- real life, fiction, OCs, celebrities, whatever. Then answer these questions to see how cracktastic your adventure turns out to be.
1. Pikachu
2. Sniper Wolf
3. Otacon
4. Liquid Snake
5. Porky
6. Revolver Ocelot
7. Marth
8. Loppy, LordofPastries,
9. Seto Kaiba
10. Solid Snake

(I came up with a list of characters I wanted to use then utilized a randomizer to get them in various slots)

1. The GPS has an obnoxious voice. What does 9 name it, and is 7 bothered by it?
Kaiba decides to bicker with the GPS about its sense of direction, thinking only he has enough authority to move its technology-laden soul into a charged state of personality. After ceaseless prodding from Ocelot (And I do mean physical prodding), Kaiba finally names it "Dronion Signical the 4th".
Marth complains about not being able to understand the GPS' language but, to his dismay, no one in the van understands him because Seto Kaiba is conveniently being voiced by Eric Stuart.

2. 1, 4, 6 and 8 are all forced to share the cramped back row of seats. How do they arrange themselves?
Loppy was the first to file into the van, and noticing that two sadists and a buoyant source of electrocution were to follow, she hugged the window as best she could and prayed for the best. Ocelot took a quick glance towards the front, decided that going in next would give him the best chance of loosing a bullet that would ricochet off of the side of the window and into the driver's head if he were so inclined, and took his seat as Loppy began hyperventilating. Liquid trundled in next and began bitching about his arm. Pikachu jumps into Liquid's lap and darts over into Loppy's, "Pika! "

3. 5 and 10 are sitting next to each other. Who gets the window seat?
One Porky realizes that Solid Snake is packing plenty of C4 and has rigged both seats, he quickly forfeits them and sits on the floor. Snake utilizes the luxury of two seats to sprawl out on his back.

4. 3 and 4 are invading one another’s personal space. Who gets annoyed first, and how do they deal with it?
Otacon happens to be made easily nervous, so with Liquid large mug going on about "BROTHERRRS IT'S BEEN TOO LONG WE SHOULD REALLY DO THIS MORE OFTEN" right behind his head, he convinces Snake to tell Liquid to can it. Liquid tells Otacon that Otacon needs to work for him. From the driver's seat, I complain about how boring Liquid is and say that I should have never chosen him for this meme.

5. What habit does 8 have that might get on 2’s nerves?
Sniper Wolf does not understand for the life of her why Loppy likes the fat kid, aka Porky. Loppy does not understand why Sniper wolf carries around a PGS-1, but knows better than to question it.

6. Who’s more likely to start up a round of "99 Bottles," 1 or 7?
NEITHER OF THEM SPEAK ENGLISH LOL. Neither Marth or Pikachu. But Pikachu tries to implement the tune with his cooing. Misinterpreting the rhythm, Liquid begins to sing "Carol of the Bells" in "Mudkip!"s because he's a stupid and I hate him and he's hot.

7. Would you trust 9 or 10 to get behind the wheel for a while?
Seto is driven everywhere by his limousine chauffer man so he's stupid and therefore out. But Snake may pretend he's driving a METAL GEAR?!!?!?!?!!! due to post-traumatic stress disorder with the most awesome times of his life coming to the surface at the most inappropriate times. So I have a firm hold on the wheel until Snake runs up to the front saying that he's gotta pilot the METAL GEAR!!! to save us all from Liquid and plops down in my lap, at which point I give up because I don't care if I die anymore.

8. You stop at a gas station and 5 and 3 make a snack-and-supply run. What do they bring back?
Porky buys, like, everything that I wouldn't eat. You know, fake food. I like oreos, though, so I'd snag some from the pile. However, upon realizing that Porky has no money and that he more than likely stole the food, I no longer can bring myself to eat the illegally seized goods. It's Fundamentals of Speech and we have five required speeches throughout the duration of the course.

She asked a question about people wanting to learn but not wanting to be taught and what that meant, so as per usual I BRAVELY raised my hand and I'll be darned if I didn't come off as cynical as the process of eugenics. I have been shamed, but my meaning wasn't even cynical. D8
I said something like "As human beings, we're built with a basic capacity to learn, and we are eager to assimilate all sorts of stimuli. However, as for being taught, we don't always like being told what to do or how to do it, or for some we don't want to put forth the effort and dedication that it required for being taught." D8 Okay, seriously, aside from lacking depth, it can be taken wrong, especially if you're hearing it on the fly. It IS difficult to latch on to what people say and learn from their statements or demonstrations, which is the inherent issue of being taught. It takes real effort and determination to communicate with someone and to get something out of it. In my own case, I've heard someone say something that I didn't learn from until years later. I wasn't implying to the class that people are merely listless, I actually meant that it can be difficult for any given person to do something that transcends our normal expectations, and perhaps our instincts.
But no, I'm sure I sounded really arrogant. DX I need to change my tone and need to learn to compose my diction better, which I suppose is a part of the reason they require this class. But despite the qualifiers that I can attach to my sudden act of foolish bravery, I probably made a bad first impression. I HAVE ISSUES with that. DX

Okay, thanks for letting me vent and think about what happened. Hopefully the class doesn't hate me now. But I've been in worse situations.♪

So cosplaywig and I are on good terms again. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THE WIG ISH SO BEAUTIFUL OH MAI.

Also, I would like to rub it in everyone's faces that I'm starting on my foam muscle suit. Wish me luck. I've never worked with foam before. EVER.

So everything's been set in motion. As soon as I get this muscle suit done, I can just go all out and finish whatever part of the cosplay I like, in whatever order I choose.

Classes for college start Monday. I'm scared, which happens at the beginning of every semester. DX Wish me luck for that too.

First off all, here is the order in which I completed the series:

MGS: Portable Ops, MGS4, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3.

Now, for my analysis, I won't be ranking/talking about Portable Ops, even though it's canon and I did finish it. The art style and direction was just so different that it wouldn't be fair, regardless of how marvelous it was.

Now, for the game rankings:

MGS2 > MGS4 > MGS3 > MGS1

Each title was a masterpiece on its own, but I combined three integral factors in my ranking: Story, Gameplay, and Characters. This is not the three factors by which I judge all video games, but rather the three most important factors I found that effectively indicate my satisfaction with each of the main 4 games in the Metal Gear Solid series.

MGS2: Like I always say, the game makes me feel like a new person.
Storyline: I've always heard that it is by far the most complex, and I have to agree- questioning reality versus viritual reality does get quite confusing, plus the whole system of control with the Patriots- VR DOES begin to define reality. And of course, once that issue comes up, so follows the question of the nature of humanity- which produced the AI of the Patriots, although the Patriots seem posed to surpass humans. Who is right? Of course, the Patriots were created by arguably the most skilled and intelligent human beings to shape and form the world which holds so many more "lesser" people, long after they were incapable of managing the AI themselves. But enough of that, I could go on forever...
Beyond just questioning our humanity, MGS2 offers a decent dish of actual humanity itself- especially when Raiden finally encountering Snake and Rose on the crowded New York street at the ending and the song "Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday" starts playing. BEAUTIFUL.
Gameplay:Probably the most finetuned in regards to stealth, in my opinion. The constant HQ check-ups on guards was annoying (So if you put any of the guards to sleep, they'd send back up after a few seconds), and the node log-in function wasn't too bad, but felt a little pointless. But MGS2 offered plenty of fun toys to play with while not overloading us and turning the game into more of an action-shooter, like MGS4. And the gameplay certainly didn't drag as much, like MGS3 with the Cure and Camo menus.
Characters:By far the best characters of any of the MGS games, although I may like Snake in MGS4 a liiiittle more than MGS2 Snake. Minus the puking. Otacon was definitely the hottest in this game because he finally wasn't anorexic. And I think Quinton Flynn is really talented and ranks in as one of my three favorite voice actors, so I was quite fond of Raiden for more than one reason- I legitimately loved the character. And did I mention I loved getting to mess with Snake towards the end of the game? Quite conveinient that Snake is wearing his hottest suit (Both Pliskin and Sneaking Suit) once I'm playing as a seperate character. And I really do dig Pliskin. Getting to see Snake as an "alternate personality" *ahem* and without his bandana was definitely awesome.

MGS4: Ahead of MGS3 because the gameplay is insanely fun and because I cried for a straight hour at the end.
Storyline:This one may actually be a little weaker than MGS3, but every other category has its merits to where it definitely deserves second. Plus, the ordeal of age, yet STILL managing to make Solid Snake as kickass as ever, had to have been a real challenge- both in graphics and in presentation. But they pulled it off. A weaker developer couldn't have done it, Kojima. And this is indeed a story like we've never seen before.
And did I mention I'm secretly a total sap? My favorite scene was the Meryl/Johnny proposal scene. IT'S NOT EVEN A SNAKE SCENE WUT.
Gameplay: I CAN ACTUALLY HIT STUFF ON THIS GAME. THE AIMING IS SO MUCH BETTER. The Nikita will forever be missed, and I don't recall picking up the auto-aim Stinger that always made me giggle in past games, but the Rail Gun makes a welcome addition, and you've got about 100 other ways to kill people depending on your mood. Oh, wait, apparently I hate killing people in this game because it's inhumane- and not to mention that Snake pukes after 50 corpses. =/ Guilty conscience. BUT OH, apparently there are EVEN MORE WAYS to knock out enemies! You can make the Scream, Cry, Rage, or Laugh themselves silly after your first playthrough, and a new expanded CQC menu that's available at all times provides a little something for everyone. Anyway, anyone heard of "Bob's Game"? Apparently this guy developed this video game in his basement for five years straight all by himself. He made the graphics, soundtrack, artwork, dialogue, etc. And now he's trying to get a software development kit to publish it on the Nintendo DS as an official game. He's taken to locking himself in his office with only communication devices for 100 days until Nintendo gives him the kit. Plus he's threatened to utilize piracy devices or some junk to spread his game around if they refuse, idk. Some Nintendo guy supposedly promised him a development kit a long time ago and now he's not getting it.

While the dialogue doesn't necessarily thrill me, the game apparently had certain mechanics installed to operate fluidly and it is most certainly nostalgiac. Minus the average writing in Bob's game, however, the whole thing kind've reminds me of... Earthbound. Like, especially in the towns like Twoson and Fourside with all the cars driving around. 8|

Okay, in all seriousness, don't lock yourself in an office, expecting to get published. I want to see this game and play it, especially if the writing is bettter than I think it is, but I'd be sad if Nintendo gave into his demands while he was protesting like this. Like someone said, it would encourage every inspiring developer, no matter how crumby he is, to perform potential harmful practices to get a big corporation to notice them. It'd be like... rewarding them for doing that. And last time I checked, encouraging someone to hurt themselves makes you an accomplice or something. Nintendo would get their asses sued for trying to be nice.

I need to vent.

I haven't felt this miserable in ages. DX

At first I just had a minor sore throat and was taking cough drops for it. I had the whole thing under control, but last night at dinner I forgot to bring some and then we went shopping for an hour afterwards and it was getting hard for me to talk. Not saying the cough drops would have cured my condition, but my throat was hurting so much that I suspected they would have helped somewhat. So last night I go to bed at 11 PM (Which is pretty early for me) and for the first thirty minutes, I'm in major pain- it feels as though my brain had swelled up within my skull due to sinuses. And whenever I swallow, it feels like a bullet is grazing my throat (It still does, actually)... And when I got up at 1 AM, the bed was extremely hot from my fever. From 11 PM until 5 AM, I do nothing but drift off to sleep for a few minutes, then wake up and be in pain for another thirty until another brief reprieve. Finally, at 5, I manage to get to sleep until 7, and my mom's awake, so I take some medicine that she has. Finally, I sleep until about 10:30, though I did wake up about every thirty minutes even after that. At least I got to sleep much easier. DX

So let's hear it. It's the season for getting colds and such, so what have you people had to endure?

Also, does anyone find it odd that they're making a "My Stop Smoking Coach" video game for the Nintendo DS?

So does anyone actually know if LittleBIGPlanet is worth anything? It's $60 right now, and I convinced myself out of buying it because... well, I only saw a few good levels created by users, and the game looked like junk without them. And now supposedly MediaMolecule is deleting levels based on copyright issues left and right (Way to go, seeing as how people pay for costumes and levels packs and stuff. Apparently you're not allowed to use it when you PAY for it. What logic!).

But they're coming out with a Metal Gear Solid 4 pack. Say I were to buy the PS3 game, then to buy the correlating MGS4 packs. That would be $72, plus tax.

I was overly excited about the MGS4 pack until I saw the trailer by MediaMolecule promoting it's release. For one thing, I CANNOT STAND that babbling that occurs with a character talks in-game. I was slightly more accepting of the trailer until I realized that it was SUPPOSED TO BE SOLID SNAKE'S VOICE (The trailer I was watching was lagging horribly). I mean, even Animal Crossing (GameCube) makes an effort to sound like the text it's displaying on-screen. I was slightly offfended. Like the two good things about that trailer were JOKE!Ocelot and Meryl slapping Snake, but that bastard deserved it for abandoning her after MGS1. >= ( Also, Sackboy expressions look really weird with Old Snake and Meryl costumes.
I mean, maybe I'm being harsh. Perhaps LittleBIGPlanet really is a parody- as it "jokes" about so many other games with the custom costumes and stuff. It's not really "chibi", and the game really never struck me as serious. I don't know what the hell it is.

I don't know, is it worth the buy? Or should I wait until it's like $20? Is it even worth that much?

In better news, expect me to have like 4 DeviantArt submissions after Christmas. NO REALLY THEY'RE GOOD.

ALSO NOTE: I wrote these for a friend who was really into football. In later chapters, I inaccurately portray two American football players whom were both quite different 3 or 4 years ago. I know NOTHING about football except what my friend told me and my portrayals are not intended to offend anyone, they were meant to make her laugh.

Suddenly, everything came back. I recognized only the dense pressure of wood against my cheek. I had slumped in a rather odd position, and tasted only silence upon my awakening. After a few more moments I realized it was dark in the room. From underneath the makeshift hood of my arm, I saw a skirt fly past, and someone began kneading my shoulder from behind. “You know, Seto, school is o-ver” she said in what I am sure was the politest tone she could conjure. I untangled myself from the top of my desk and sprang up, and sight forcibly splashed against my eyes in a dazzle of lights. I looked at the girl. I didn’t know her. But I, Seto Kaiba, find myself waking up next to complete mysteries these days.
Such mysteries include ideas. Yes, the offspring of some infinite realm where absolutely anything can be hypothesized, and I mean anything, and we humans are supposedly smart enough to derive some practical use from said realm. So why is it that of all things, I had to go to school in the morning only to lend ear to Yugi’s spastic idea for us all to join a gay strip club?
In the end, everyone decided that they had an excuse. So why did we all decide to do it? I’m very sure that a few members of the group walked into class a little later that morning and missed the important preliminary details, but they had already agreed to it and they didn’t seem to mind the opportunity to make a little extra cash. I know that’s what motivated Otogi.
But nothing had fully convinced me yet- until one evening. I was going to the floor to do my routine while Yugi was just exiting to take his break. He was wearing baby blue spandex and slapped my butt as he walked past. My sight followed him until he turned a corner into the back, and my observation gave me the realization of how his bum unfortunately shaped the underwear. I knew I was in one hell of a comedy.
And how does my working uniform shape up? Needless to say, the manager was quite thrilled to take on the world’s best duelists, all conveniently piled up for the picking in Domino City, and huzzah!- if they weren’t shipping more in. He immediately insisted that we have special costumes made for ourselves. He said that symbols were very important, especially with our famous mugs, so he himself specified the designers on their focal point for each of us. What of me had captured this guy’s interest, throughout my entire dueling career? The damned white jacket I wore during my Battle City tournament. So, needless to say, I have an overblown trench accompanied by tight, skimpy shorts, along with a belly shirt and a few belts and chains. And daddy used to tell me that I could pull anything off.

I was on center stage tonight. Anyone walking out would’ve flinched to have suddenly thrust themselves into the wake of the raving stage lights, but I was paid to be the expert. I moved my hips once, fully aware of the obedient sway of my trench coat that was to follow, and score- there was a burst of applause. I spread my arms out wide, and my bare legs followed the cue.
“Yeah! Show us your Blue-Eyes White Dragon!” I heard somewhere out in the distance.
Soon, I was only aware that my body was riding the techno like a steed, and the continuous applause excited me more and more like a well-executed battle cry. My eyes never met the ground, and often enough they were scorched to blindness in the gyrating lights, but I fought brilliantly.
What a better way to charm the audience than to show them a little magic trick- show them something that they didn’t expect. My signature battle-trench is skin-tight and sleeveless, so everyone must have conjectured that I have a slew of assistants to help dress and undress me before and after each event respectively. I’ve knowledge enough in the fancy way to flick cards around to know how to make a push of the sleeve and a quick arm gesture look damn good. But that’s elementary.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the stage, either. The stage, while somewhat elevated for all to behold, is low enough to the ground to be interpersonal, and overall it is somewhat small and confined. Just in case anyone's wondering, my private practicing artwork is in full swing and I'm working on some requests and prizes.

I ordered the Metal Gear Solid 4 soundtrack and just got it today!!! I made my family hear the Love Theme and I was talking about how great it was beforehand and my grandmother said about 50 seconds into the song "Well, it's gotta get better than that if it's good..." I was like *Dead face plz* AAAAGH. My heart broke. I love the Love Theme! It's Arabic-like (Or Middle Eastern at the very least) so I guess it's hard for some people to understand it. But my family liked Here's To You which really is a beautiful song. This entire soundtrack is amazing, I'm not gonna lie.

Okay and I've spent about $150 on the materials for my Snake cosplay thus far. I'm anticipating to spend at least $50 more, if I'm lucky. If I'm not lucky, this costume may total $250 by the time I'm done with it. But that's okay, it's what I want and I really don't want to end up remaking it someday. I want it to be perfect the first time. And I'll be frank- I've had to spend an extra $65 due to the fact that I'm female- in order to make a muscle suit.

But the vinyl I've purchased for the military gear boxes smells like crap. So my grandmother said to spray it with something. I was like COLOGNE MENZ WEAR COLOGNE!!! 8D and I was like MOM WHAT WOULD SNAKE WEAR and she's like HE WOULD WEAR AXE COLOGNE 'CAUSE IT'S FOR ACTIVE MEN and I was like COOL I'MMA SNIFF DAD'S NOW.
Yeah that was awesome but earlier she called my costume stupid. D8 She's never done that before. She's always been cool about cosplay. Hell, she's already promised to cosplay MGS4 EVA. I was kind've hurt.

So I bought Castlevania Judgment and- I haven't been home to play it. But Cornell's AWSUUUM. And like Shanoa = Best character ever, aside from Soma. Why the hell wasn't Soma invited to the Time Rift by Aeon, anyways? He totally deserved to be in that game. He's hot. And popular. And let's face it his moves would have been great. I'm kinda sad to hear that Golem isn't a viable character though because he's kinda cute. "Golem not like fighting... But now, must fight!!!" I've seen the trailer and Judgment is a Soul Calibur rip-off but... hey, it looks amazing. I shall shamefully admit that Judgment seems > Calibur.

ALSO and 's birthdays are on the 29th BUT I'M CELEBRATING THEM ON THE 28TH AND EVERYONE'S INVITED.

That's not a problem...

But...

The teacher from my most troublesome class (Not hardest, but most troublesome due to the format) assigned a project in which we have to find and watch a decent documentary about civil rights on Youtube or something.

My grandparent's house doesn't have the appropriate software so I can't watch videos there, and all of the school computers have been modified so it's impossible to get sound, even with headphones.

So I've got to be driven back to my house and remain there for four hours to do this project. This was completely unnecessary and could have been so much less stressful if it weren't assigned this particular weekened. Any other time of the year, plz. But, alas.

So I'm in no condition to judge a contest or do features. I feel like my head's about to explode.

Contest now ends on November 15th. I am so sorry, but I just can't do this now.

But aside from that, Nintendo is starting to get on my nerves for the first time in 19 years. Now, I'm sure all will be forgiven come PokeMon Platinum and I'll freaking start a Nintendo scholarship or do a breast cancer run in their name or something if they release the Mother series, but they extinguished one torch of hope I was carrying into the bleak horizon of the arrival of the DSi- Wario Ware. Turns out it's not an actual game in terms of being released on a cartridge. The whole gig is downloadable for 500 points ($5) from the DSi download service. Oh, wait, that's just the core game that revolves around taking pictures. 200 points are required for each additional mini-game, which I'm going to assume means that the crazy, fast-paced feeling present in past games may only be achieved by emptying out your wallet.
So if I wanted this one title: $180 for the DSi, Idk how much ($20?) for an SD card, and then $5 for the basic game, and then several additions of $2 to make it actually enjoyable? Ridiculous, Nintendo. I'm really starting to side with Sony. You've got me on a fairly thick rope called "PokeMon", but I sure as hell am not seeing the Mother series in the US. Maybe you guys should do something about that.

And yeah, I know I don't have to buy the DSi, so I shouldn't be bitching. But the fact that they went ahead and made a Wario Ware game and did it in the stupidest format possible means that it's going to be even longer before we see a decent Wario Ware released, because they think they've done their dues for this year already.

I also read a poll on nintendodsfanboy.com stating that according to magazine readers (Read: NOT the entire Japanese population), the DSi was recieved poorly. And I can see why. Nintendo's being safe but still doing enough to piss us off, so rather than making good monies they're just aggravating everyone. Like, they don't want to alienate those who don't give a damn about the DSi so they'll release normal games compatible with both, but they still WANT you to buy the DSi so they'll put ENOUGH on there. Because they released the system in the first place and aren't forcing you to go buy one, they're playing it conservative...

Aaand I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea what to cosplay for AZ '09. I thought I was going to do Nailah from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn but then I decided that I'd much rather do a popular character, because more people talk to me and its more fun. Not to mention I still haven't played Radiant Dawn. I thought about proceeding with my MGS2/Brawl Snake cosplay but my mom didn't seem too excited about that... I don't know if she thinks I couldn't do it or what. And I absolutely must do something I actually like, which kicks the mainstream, popular Bleach, Naruto, etc. out the door. If I can't do Snake, then I really don't know what to do... D=

So the Castlevania thing got sorted out. I went to a GameStop in person and they gave me the pre-order soundtrack that the website didn't send me, and also the Sonic Dark Brotherhood Styluses! They're really cute, and the employees were super nice! So that's all good.

Just a reminder that my contest is finally ending on November 1st.

Alright, now onto business...

There is one thing in this world that a person can do that will cause me to wish eternal conflict and turmoil upon their soul. And I will forever hate their guts. D=
When you mess with my Castlevania pre-order shit.
It happened last year, and it happened this year too.
Last year, you'll all perhaps remember the uber Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin pre-order package. Artbook, poster/timeline, soundtrack with over 30 track listings, extendable stylus, and a DS game holder (holds 2 games). Now, I've taken to pre-ordering at GameStops ONLY to get those pre-order items, because everywhere else has a much better deal on games, especially since we have memberships to Sam's and Costco. GameStop is only good for used games.
Last year, we called two days ahead about the pre-order item. The said there were 19 items for the 19 people who pre-ordered. Good. Next day we called again, there were only 12 left and the game hadn't even been released yet. Finally my mom goes to pick up my game and item on the release date, and there were no items left for ANY of the people who pre-ordered. She was the first to pick up the game, so that tells you that an employee stole them all. Realizing that my mother was about to beat everyone there within an inch of their lives, they sent her to the other, significantly less game-savvy GameStop within the mall and they fearfully handed over the pre-order item. I heard it was a spectacle.
I went onto eBay that night and looked at the pre-order item. WITHOUT THE GAME, THE NIGHT IT BECAME AVAILABLE, the pre-order items were actually getting $70 bids. The damned employee stole 19... ...
Okay seriously if you're going to make a $40 profit anyways then just pre-order 50 fucking games for all I care and leave my shit alone, PLEASE.

This year, Castlevania: Orders of Ecclesia was to be released with a 6-track sampler CD. Not amazing, but pretty nifty. In order to avoid the excessive butthurt, shits, and giggles of last year, I pre-ordered ONLINE (Read: no one to steal my pre-order item) the Saturday before the game launch. I recieved my game yesterday, but no CD.
... Okay... I would have MUCH rather saved on shipping. I did it online JUST to make sure I got the item.
So I sent them an e-mail. They absolutely must send me the sampler CD that they promised me. Chances are that they have 10,000 just lying around and will just throw them all away.
If they refuse, I will more than likely tell them that I no longer trust their company and will begin buying from retailers who price their games more reasonably.
They've shafted me on a few items in the past, when it comes to Castlevania I really don't fuck around.

Now it's been a month and I still can't draw. Not really. I was happy when creating characters for a contest, but even though I liked my concepts, I disliked the sketches. I want to say that I have no idea why I've forgotten to draw, but unfortunately I think I know why.

I've been having quite a few issues. I effectively lost my best friend during the summer, my mother's having surgery, I'm working for one of her clients so she doesn't have to worry so much, and just like everyone else, our family is stressed for money, even more so since my mom won't be working for a month. I'm ashamed about this next part but I'll state it anyway... she's in so much pain that I used to get screamed at. After I came to her crying and told her why, she's tried to not do so as much. And though very minor in comparison to all these things- my PS3, my Wii, and one of my DS Lites have all malfunctioned at the same time, and to have such major financial investments stop working all at the same time is unnerving.

I'm fine, and in fact I'm really fortunate. So I can't believe these things get to me. But I wanted to make a confession I guess, get it off of my chest. While not being able to draw so well is not a good thing, it is good that I don't have a fanbase that is always wanting me to draw something new, so I'm not letting anyone down. But personally, it pains me to not process things like the way I used to. I'm worried about shutting down and never being able to draw or talk about art again...

I have no idea how to go about helping myself out. I don't know if I should "organize" my feelings in order to find some holy grail of an answer, or if I should absorb my troubles and become a different person. I have no clue if any of this works or is meant to be. It's like I need to get to the next step in life, but I have no idea what that's all about.

Anyway, I'll be at my grandparent's for at least a week after my mom's surgery. Undoubtedly, I won't be updating with artwork until after my stay, if I am able to make any that is decent.

Not even close to being ready to taking down this journal for Ejiputotsuki, but I did want to mention that I had the best dream ever last night.
So like my dad and I had a miniature functioning version of Metal Gear Rex for whatever reason and then my dad got out and Revolver Ocelot (MGS2) got into the driver's seat (Now's about the time I should be remembering that Metal Gear Rex only seated one). At first I thought, "Oh, great, now this crazy bastard's driving. I hope he doesn't make us crash and cause a nuclear explosion." From then on, all I could think about was how I was going to jump his bones.



God I'm such a bad person.

Me uploading art has pretty much come to a halt for the time being. I know it's not a big deal, because my art's, well... meh and I really only upload art to get feedback, so it's my benefit over everyone elses' (I'm sorry about that, but thank you guys so much for being nice to me! You're all so awesome!). But I'm working hard on a contest so I'm focusing all of my energy in art on it for the time being. I've drawn the line at 7 submissions, even though I can submit as many times as I like. See, I'm doing practice sketches, reference sketches (different angles, expressions), and one full-color, full-body portrait. So it's going to take a lot of effort to do seven like that! At least I've decided upon their descriptions, so that shouldn't be any trouble.

Alright, now... Believe it or not, I've been keeping up with GameFAQs' Character Battle! XD; I didn't fill out any brackets or anything, but it's always exciting when you see your favorite character participating. Of course Solid Snake made it through so I was happy, but I was thinking "NO WAY!" when Pit got knocked out, and earlier in the morning he was actually in LAST PLACE, behind King Dedede! D8 Thankfully he got in third, but he's gone. The next day I had to suffer Ness' inevitable defeat, and my heart broke. And today Lucas is in the running, and last I checked he was in last place, so the Earthbound representation is shot for this year. Well, they still got in <3, and at least Big Boss will move on. Wario won 2nd (I think) in his division, too! And we may get to see Solid Snake versus Liquid sometime! Or even Solid vs Big Boss!
There's enough PokeMon representation with Pikachu and Mewtwo, but I'm slightly agitated by the fact that Mudkip got in over another PokeMon. Like, I would have been sooo much happier if it was Swampert, because that actually makes sense. But what can you do about internet memes? That's why Jinjo's in today... =/ But Lucario definitely deserved the slot. He's popular and in Brawl. But I suppose people would complain about "furries"... even though you don't have to be sexually attracted to a PokeMon for it to be your favorite. Lucario's my favorite, so I know.
And I flipped my lid when I saw this! PROFESSOR LAYTON WILL BE IN THE CHARACTER BATTLE TOMMOROW! I'll die if he wins because he obviously can't, but it's still very exciting that he was nominated! I'll definitely check out GameFAQS tommorow just to see how he's doing. <3 Anyway, a true gentleman should be able to accept defeat gracefully!

I have finalized prizes and set-up.

First place gets a request of absolutely any drawing from me- digital, traditional, colored, greyscale, background, no background, multiple subjects, one subject, whatever you want.

Have added second and third places, they get...

Second: Drawing of anything in any medium, but... multiple characters allowed, but you can't request a background.

Third: Drawing of anything in any medium, but... only one character (Unless multiple characters comprise a unit, like Mantine and Remoraid, the Psychic Twins in PokeMon R/S/E, PokeMon Trainer in Brawl, etc, Olimar and Pikmin, etc.) and no background.

EVERYONE who entered gets a chibi of their request, only one character and no background. I WILL color it if you want. I consider the following to be in my chibi style:
