I've been tagged by YvonneVetjens - oh no! LOL.

The RULES of tagging:
1. Firstly, if you have been tagged: read and post these rules in your DA journal.
2. Each new person tagged must then post 8 random (hopefully interesting) facts about themselves in the same journal entry.
3. At the end of the post 8 more DA members must be tagged and named.
4. Once you have finished writing your blog, go to the newly tagged members' pages and leave a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read the instructions from your lastest DA journal entry.

FACTS about me:
1. My middle name is Ruth, which means 'sorrow' in Hebrew; incidently, I was also born on a Wednesday, which (according to the old nursary rhyme) was the day of 'woe' - lovely: I was just born to cry. Ha!
2. My best friend, Charlie and I used to call my boyfriend 'Butterpuppy' - tee hee.
3. I have a book of my favourite poetry, which I am copying out in my own hand so that I can always have a definitive copy of my most beloved poems, and that maybe will be passed onto my children (if I ever have any) in the future for them to enjoy (if I have finish copying all the poems I like, ha).
4. One of my favourite poems is 'Sonnet 116' by William Shakespeare, which I can recite off-by-heart. I like learning poetry. I'm crazy. Hehe.
5. My Welsh grandparents once lived in a house that was haunted by a hung man called Charlie - my auntie used to talk to him.
6. My family name 'Burd' is Scottish, supposedly from the battle of Cullodan where my family were said to have: 'flown away like burds', and thus our heroic family name was born.
7. I am a little shorty - only around 5' 2" tall. My boyfriend, Ben is a foot taller than me, at 6' 2".
8. Errrr. That's enough interesting things for you today my deary.

I want to tag (hopefully you haven't been tagged yet):
Errrr... I'll do this sometime... yeah.

Never fear, I have not disappeared, I am still here! LOL. Even though I have not really submitted any artwork recently. But, as I will now explain, my artistic work has taken a new direction - fictional novel writing. I cannot tell you much (as I don't want to spoil the surprise, or have my ideas stolen), but I am writing again, and, this time, creating a teen fantasy novel that is inspired by Celtic mythology. I've only just started, and it'll take me a few years to write (or dozens, at the rate I'm going, lol). But my aim is to finish and publish it for others to enjoy. I'll keep you all updated on my book now and again. I won't be publishing it on DA (for fear for it being plagerized), but maybe you'll see it in a bookshop near you in the next few years.

Take care,

Hello all,

Well, last Tuesday I finished my BTEC ND Photography project - at last! I've been working hard on this project since the start of the course in September 2006 - writing in my sketchbook, taking, developing and printing my photographs etc. Although, to be honest, I'm very glad that the course has finished, and I can have a rest now - I'm fed up of photography. It's strange, over the past year I've become uninterested with the things I used to love the most - fine art, photography etc. Oh well. Though don't worry too much - I'm not giving up art and photography altogether, just having a bit of a break from them, and simply creating pieces when my muses come to me (whenever that shall be. Heh).
I do have some good news however: in September 2007 I going to study BA (Hons) Classical Studies and Media Studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter, which I'm looking forward to. So, from then on I shall not be writing to you from my family home in Burry Port, but somewhere in Ceredigion, as I am probably going to have to move out of my parents' house to a house/ flat/ hall in order to study in Lampeter.
As you can see, my life is going to change a great deal over the next year, although hopefully some things will stay the same (i.e. - my love for my friends and family, and, of course, the arts).
I just thought I'd tell you all this, as those of you who keep a close eye on my DA page may see less artistic activity on my page over the next months, due to my other concerns (e.g. - preparing for Uni). So, this is not a goodbye, but a see you now-and-again.
Thank you.

Just a quick word to tell you all that my new fashion photos (that I took as part of the final pieces to my BTEC ND Photography course) have come back from the developer's, and, as I predited, all the colour photos are terrible, but most of the b & w ones are really good. I've just put some of the b & w ones up on DA, so I'd appreciate some feedback, and maybe I'll put some more up in a few days time.
But for now, enjoy them and au revoir. (P.S. - It's my 19th birthday toda - boo!)

Hey yal,

I'm coming to the end of my BTEC ND Photography course, and, of course, that means that I have to create final pieces for the photography project I've been working on. I need a bit of help on this however.
I need to create pieces for the two separate units of the project - Unit 12: (Black and White) Darkroom Practice, and Unit 13: Location Techniques.
I've already finished one black and white (and some colour) photo shoot, which was a fashion shoot, inspired by the 1970s - I am waiting for these photos to come back from the developer's, I hope they come out ok. I could probably use these pics as the Location Techniques pics, but that leaves the. But I am a bit stuck on the Darkroom Practice photos - I wanted to go something more metaphorical/ deep/ emotive for these shots: I could do some emotive shots of my friends/ family, but I am still unsure on this. Any ideas anyone?
Ta.

Hello dearies, and happy new year to you,

Well, as you all may know from my new photos I've been to Spain recently. It was a nice, little, week-long family holiday to the area of Andulasia. It was nice to get out of the country for change, and I think we all enjoyed ourselves there: the weather was nice most of the time, we eat alot (ooppss), went sight-seeing, took some photographs etc. The photos I've put up now are just a couple I took using a couple of rubbishy Kodacolour films, I hope my best ones will be the b & w photos I took in the Moorish place of Alhambra in Granada, but I'll have to wait a week or so before I can send them off to be developed, so you'll have to wait too kiddies. LOL. Sorry. I hope you're looking forward to seeing them as much as I am though.
Anyways, I think that's about all I have to update you with for now, apart from that I have another photo shoot with the models, Tammy and Terri (you know, the ones I took the 'Moth/ Farmhouse Fashions' photos of in the summer) in a couple of weeks time. It'll be quite a cool, wintery shoot, so let's hope it goes well, and I'll try and get all those pics up on here asap after it. Ciao for now though!

Hello all,

I haven't written anything in here for awhile, so I thought I better had. I've been pretty lazy keeping up the journal entries and info about my new photo/ art pieces, but... well, I have no reason or excuse really, apart from that I've been fluxuating between doing very little and lot of photography, and sometimes I'm just too lazy to keep up with all of it. LOL. So, this little entry is just an update I suppose.
I've been attempting my first 35mm black and white film processing and developing, which is interesting, if boring at times. However, I haven't created many photos myself yet, as it all takes a labourious amount of time, but we'll see how it goes. In fact, when I think about it, I have a couple of my new pics that I haven't put up on here yet (shock horror)! But I will try to do so asap.
Hmmm, you can all look at my new DA photography t see what you've done for yourself - most of the work is either for my BTEC ND in Photography, or my portfolio, or (very rarely now) my own personal work. But I suggest having a peek anyway.

Also, on a further note, it is Yule today! So merry Yule to all those who celebrate it (myself included). Mmmm... Yule logs. Opppss... off topic a bit there. Haha.

Yule blessings,

Heya all,

I've just put up a few of my most recent photos, which are based on the theme of domestic violence. The shoot was actually made so that I could demonstrate the use of aperture in a photo, but I wanted to make the shoot a bit more interesting than simply that, and so I introduced the theme of domestic violence (inspired by the photographs of Donna Ferrato).
I'm not too happy with this shoot to be honest - I had one week to produce these shots, and was told it was best to produce them in colour (as they could be processed quickly), however, I thought that black and white would have suited the theme better, nevertheless, I was forced to shoot in colour.
In addition, I was using the 'manual' setting on my Olympus OM10 camera (and I have never used this before), so the photos did not come out quite to plan.

Though, there is some HOPE! I plan to redo this photo shoot using the 'auto' setting on my camera (which I am very happy and comfortable with) and using a black and white camera film. I'm not quite sure when I'll get to do this, but within the next week or two I hope. So be prepared for most of these new photos to disappear and to be replaced with neater black and white versions.

I hope you like them all though, and thanks again.

Heya all,

Hmmm, yesterday I probably made one of the biggest decisions of my life - I decided to drop out of my Art Foundation course in college, which I was told I needed to do in order to get into a good Uni. I've been doing it nearly a month now but I began to loathe it a week or so ago, and now I've had enough.
Right now I feel a bit empty but excited - I made some good friends on the course (who I'll miss), and I don't know what I should do from now on really. I want to do some kind of photography course this year I think (before attempting a degree in it next September). So I guess I'm just going to work, find work experience with photographers, build up my own portfolio, travel a bit, and do some smaller Photography and maybe English courses around here.
Anyways, I want your opinions on this guys - if you think this is a un/ wise idea of mine please say so, and give me info on what you think I should do for this year before my degree. I'm also now looking for any useful work experience - so any British photographers out there, please help!

Cheers,

Hey all,

I just want to comment that I've been looking through DA's substantial collection of fetish photography (having done some recently myself, as you can see on my DA gallery), and its surprising how little fetish photography there is for female fetishers. Over the two fetish pages I just looked at two of the models were male! And yes I know women are lovely, sexy, beautiful beings and I love female fetish as much as the next person, but so are men are beautiful too, and maybe its just that not many of the hetrosexual/ bisexual female photographers on here have fetishes, but I know I do (hence the recent photos - yep, I've been drooling too much over Tim Curry in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"). Ha.
I just want to see what you guys think too - do women supress their fetishes, and are there any good fetish photos/ photographers of the male form out there?

Well, I've got some good news - a few days ago a local model contacted me and asked me if I could do a fashion photo shoot for her modelling portfolio, and of course I said yes. Nothing's final at the moment: we're still discussing the details and such, but by the sounds of it we should be doing a fashion shoot or two around Autumn time, which will probably be based on the theme of Nostalgia (or something like it) - you know, derelict mansions with her wearing ripped and tattered vintage-esque ballgowns etc.
Yay! Photography commissions - love it! I can’t wait to get out there and take more photos (and try to do some with my new Canon EOS D60 too). Hehe.
Oh, by the way - don't forget people, if you'd like to model for me, read: [link]

Hello everyone.

Ah, I've just finished my first, formal fashion photo shoot with two models that I hired from a website. I'm so excited! Usually I just use my friends/ family for all my shoots, but I wanted to gain some more experience and work with different people, so I got joined this petite modelling website as a photographer (and model), and that's how I came to meet Tammy and Terri (they're sisters). They live about 130 miles away from me, so we arranged to meet about half way in England, around my granparent's countryside house last Sunday (13/08/2006). We had a brilliant shoot - the girls worked very well, and looked great too - I'll definitely use them for shoots again I reckon.
I borrowed lots of fashionable clothes from friends, and both the models and I took some of our own too - the shoot was based around the theme of moths (moth patterns, colours etc), and the clothes therefore had to match the theme of course. Then between us we styled and dressed the models, and then we took some great shots - in the house, on a horse, in a hay barn (on straw/ hay and on a wooden ladder), and against a rotting blue and white cupboard in a dark room. I love the use of light, textures, composition, and colour in my pictures so I tried to take that all into account.
I really do hope the photos come out well though - I've sent them off to a specialist photo developers in England, and they should come back to me within 5 days I think. I really can't wait for them to come back, they should be fantastic, so everyone look out for my new pics please!

Hey everybody,

Ok, listen up, because I really need all your help.

If anyone's interested in modelling for my personal and college photography works then please contact me, all I ask is that you can be able to travel to the Carmarthenshire area of Wales (UK) this summer. I can make some exceptions, and will travel someway to meet you if necessary.

I am specifically looking for female and male models ages 16 - 30; UK sizes 6 - 16 for women, and 28" - 38" waist for men. But as long as you are enthusiastic and photogenic I will consider anyone!

So ok, if you are indeed interested then all you have to do is contact me via...
