It’s Christmas time once again and the team at Icon Interlude decided that they were going to hold a nice little contest.

All we asked was for some Christmas themed icons, they didn’t have to be emoticons. We wanted to see anything Christmas related in icon form. The iconist community responded with the following entries:

We had planned to release the actual article on the 18th but with work commitments for both =E-motive and myself that date will now be changed to the 23rd of December. It gives us a week to look over all the entries and to maybe do a write up about the winner etc.

The titled is regarding Icon Interlude and the farce that it became :oops:

The first issue was a great success, until V5 news system of doom ruined it with its anger!

Issue #2 also suffered due to V5, lack of coding privilages and images which spoilt the follow of the issue. Many people wanted us to wait until the news problem was fixed, however this won't happen as members don't have the privileges to do such things with the news system.

Issue #3 has now been changed into a Christmas edition which will be published on the 18th of December

For the Christmas edition =E-motive and I want to see some Christmas themed icons, they do not have to be emoticons. We want to see anything Christmas related in icon form!

There will be prizes!

As you can guess, Im not really much of a fan .css on deviantART. I think its yet another step towards ending up like myspace.

Hell, I have no problem with myspace, infact, I do enjoy looking through the masses of profiles, and I hardly ever see any anime/manga softcore there.

I love deviantART, and I love myspace, I just dont want them to mix. deviantART's fluent clean look always apealled to me, but now thats gone, because we're gonna be full of really badly designed .css. All to those who can do it properly, but I think it makes dA look less professional overall.

I didn't appreciate it when staff had it either, but It was gonna end up as a feature to us anyway. :shrug:

I know this is gonna sound like i'm an old fart who doesnt want progression, but this is going away from the art in deviantART.

Peoples pages used to be about the art on them. Now masses of people are gonna be turned away at crappy .css on pages.

Having a good .css is gonna end up as being more important than having a good gallery to extent.

I just don't think this is the right way for dA to go, there's loads of other things they need to sort first. This seems like a way to make more trouble.


Also pissing me off this week is the "popular" section. 85% of the time it's anime fanart/softcore porn/both together, WITH ADDED KAWAII!111!111 ^________________^

I have no problems with this, I'd just rather not have it on the front page all the time. I haven't seen an icon on the front page in about a month. or longer, I can't remember how long its been.

Overall, I have found deviantART has slipped again further away from the ART. Why not improve the prints service? Make that work better?

Okay, I dont think there is much point to this, but making this .css look like myspace was to show how close they are now.

Maybe that april fools joke might just come true.



In other news, I didn't get the first job, :shrug: Oh well.

BUT! I got another interview for soon! (ish) Its for the 16th October, And its for working in the agricultural section of Newcastle University.

Hopefully this'll go better than last time, I've got a 50% chance of getting it!

Otherwise my life is pretty slow and boring, not much news there =\

As you all know, There are several problems with the news system, Some of these are:

:bulletred: Formatting Issues
:bulletred: HTML code not providing images
:bulletred: Thumbs not working

Latley, The thumb issue has been fixed though, And Thumbs and Bigthumbs can now be viewed.

There are several paths that we can take with Icon Interlude at this point, These are:

:bulletred: Wait until all issues are resolved, And news is back to normal
:bulletred: Post unformated issue, Without headers and footers
:bulletred: Post an issue with only textual information and links
:bulletred: Attempt an Issue with thumb/bigthumbs for headers and footers

We spent much time on skype discussing this problem, And have come to the desicion that we should let the readers decide the fate of Icon Interlude.

Well sorry to those who thought this was going to be telling them about Icon Interlude Issue 3.

As most of you who watch Me or =E-motive know, Issue 2 had problems with headers and thumbs.

We have recieved information recently that may allow us to create Issue 3, however, it will require a lot of work, and faffing around, so we plan to wait for the news to work properly before releasing a new issue.

As soon as the news is working properly, the next edition of Icon Interlude will be released on the following Friday.

But, for now, we have created ~IconInterlude, who will update you with all the issues about Icon Interlude, Or just watch Me or =E-motive =P

I will be updating my journal soon with new headers, footers, and a review of all the bands I saw at the Leeds Festival.

However, at the moment I have a cold and a headache, and I'm not in the mood for doing any work.

As much as I loved living in Manchester with all the people I've grown up with, The moving in with Anna has happened and gone well :nod:

It's proving difficult in some areas, But we're getting there, Its something that both of us aren't used to, We'll get it sussed eventually.

Work

I went for an interview for a NVQ this morning, and the interviewer seemed quite positive about me getting one.

Hopefully I'll be doing something within IT, but I may end up doing something within Buisness, Both will be helpful.

I'll get around to making new journal headers eventually, but I like the Icon Interlude layout I have at the moment =P

I'm currently working on a small game with Flash, thanks mostly to the people of #Flashers, as I'm generally asking them for help every twenty mins ^^;

Icon Interlude Issue Two has been released, And it can be read: Here

Icon Interlude apologises for the error in this fortnights edition.

All thumbs are down, as is some of the coding.

Because of this issue, Icon Interlude will be put on hold until this is corrected. When this issue has been rectified, Icon Interlude will resubmit issue 2, And service will continue as normal.

However, There has been issues with the coding working with dAv5, And some of the aspects of the coding do not work.

The content is still there, and readable.

I apologise for the lack of headers and footers in my journal, However, at this moment, I am too busy to make these.
Yes. Skype and Runescape do count as busy.
I will eventually get around to sorting everything out as soon as dAv5 is fixed and working.

Icon Interlude's normal service will return as soon as possible.

Ok so I thought I’d explain the previous journal. =E-motive and myself have been given the ok to write up a news article about icons/iconists. We had considered it being purely about emoticons but we thought it was stepping on the toes of the Emote Expo by =Zikes and *livius and thought we should try and encompass all of the sub-groups with the icons gallery.

Its going to be a challenge as =E-motive is an emoticonist and I am an Avatarist. Both important parts of the icons gallery but there are plenty of other sub-groups that need to be covered, this is where we'd like you to come in. Basically we want to turn this into a real community thing. If you know of any iconists you feel really shine or aren't quite getting the recognition they deserve let one of us know and we'll try and feature them. There will also be an interview section each edition, so you can also put forward iconists you'd like to see interviewed, or maybe just volunteer yourself if you feel you have something to say.

The artists/images can be from the following groups:

# Miscellaneous
