Photography has been going well recently, I have now upgraded to a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS...entering the realms of the professional! Next up I think is a 1D Mk II after a few more months of saving!

Tonight I have another concert to photograph....and am currently waiting for one of the last bands to get back to me about possibly buying some of the photos which will be awesome, my first ever proper sale!! The man I purchased the lens from also asked if I would shoot his wedding, which was promising, as he drove a huge posh car!! So business is on the up! As ever....

Anyway I need to get ready for this evening now so I will speak to you all soon!!

Philx

Just got back from watching Sweeney Todd, and my conclusion is Johnny Depp has a bad memory. Why you ask? It seems Mr Burton only decided to put in about 6 songs...which is great for someone who doesn't like musicals much, but then they decided to repeat them all 3 or 4 times. Which makes it not so good for a musical lover. The acting wasn't to be sniffed out, the dressage was great, the sets were great...why couldn't it have just been a normal film? I'd have been raving about it if it had been! And what was with the shitty CGI intro? I thought the whole film was going to be that low calibre level of animation, and thank God it wasnt....but that only makes the intro seem worse. Ah well....£5 and a movie I won't be seeing again!

On a lighter note...I have my first gig photography session tomorrow woop!! Business cards are printed and cut and I'm raring to go! And I also have a potential £800 coming my way from my lens sale...lets hope it all goes nicely, and I will soon have a Canon 70 - 200L 2.8 IS to play with, and possibly a 2x EF converter too to sweeten the deal!

Phil x

Yes Sami, you are right. It is time to bid farewell to this fair land! There are of course many things I would miss, friends, family and so on...but they're only a phone call away! What wouldn't I miss....well, lets see, the government, the bills, the weather, the chavs, the constant money worries, the constant job worries, politcal correctness, health and safety...the list goes on. But instead of boring you, I will enlighten you somewhat.

OK perhaps I was being a little over enthusiastic. However there are, believe it or not, hundreds of better places to live in the world. Sure, they might not have the dole...or benefit cheats, or possible criminials running round with millions of peoples personal details on CD, but they are better (Not the sarcasm?). In a country where you earn the same for your job as you do here in Britain, yet are taxed less, and everything is cheaper, surely the people must be happier? Well that is my mission to find out, and hopefully, if all goes to plan, and I don't chicken out (which I doubt I will as every day I get the urge to leave yet another day earlier, come March I will be packing my bags lol..).

So I propose a toast! To less worries, more happiness...away from this God forsaken place!

That time of year approaches again...or should I say...was approaching unfortunately quickly, the first day back in university after our Christmas break, and boy was I fearing it! Alas, it went by without problem, and only lasted a mere 30 minutes! We were given our briefs for the next couple of weeks, which consist of a basic research and report into 4+ ideas to be developed on for our self developed project (SDP). I've got a couple already so there is no need to worry too much today!

My driving is coming along in leaps and bounds...with about 15 hours done so far over a period of 2-3 weeks, however I've got a couple more months before I need to do my test so I feel I will be able to hone my skills and be perfect come March!

I have noticed very much so that DeviantArt is becoming a bit of a dead fish, very few people seem to comment anymore and the amount of deviations my friends have put up is dwindling, not that I am blaming anyone, especially because I am probably as much to blame..I haven't put any on here in some time! Food for thought though.....
Ok so it has been made apparent this Christmas has only just gone...what a slow few days!! Well actually they have been quite busy. Travelled home to my dads...got drunk, slept, woke up, walked, got drunk, slept, and here I am now...back home! To a pile of washing and other stuff to organise....I got some of it done, but now I feel the need to relax and listen to a few songs!
Looks like my Iceland trip is now back to a Norway trip...a 4 day cruise in February...I will get there eventually...the money is burning a hole in my pocket!! Never thought I'd say that again...hehe.
December..the cold...Christmassy month, no matter how bad the weather you can't help but like it! The final stretch of uni before the Christmas break, the build up to the big day, the mince pies...it has it all! A little fact I found out the other day, that is in England it is illegal to eat mince pies on Christmas day...shocking I know, I certainly will be breaking the law come the 25th!

Currently I am beavering away at my Presentation Communications project, just one of the 2 I have to finish in the next 10 days! I am knocking up some quick 3D models of furniture, and am right now (literally) doing some vRay renders of the room the final designs will eventually be set in to. I really can't wait for this project to be over...bloody dentists waiting rooms...they're really getting to my nerves now!! And I can't design a water feature for the life of me...

Last Fridays deadline was met, albeit with not the greatest presented work, but having recieved guidance I feel more on target for what I should be aiming at. Which is the next 3 weeks mission!! Along with my RealFlow project too....which I'm making a pint of guiness for, unfortunately I won't be able to drink it though...as it is purely 3D Come deadline day though I may be downing a few after for Christmas celebrations!

The reason why this is a little late, as per usual...is the usual excuse! Work But I've already been through that...the other reason perhaps, is my exploration of Manchester's inner city waterways! I was out on Tuesday and got speaking to some National Trust guys who were doing some fencing, and I pointed out the kingfisher which was flying past every now and again, to which one replied that he had seen a kingfisher just off Tanyard Brow in Gorton....Manchester's cess pit! So after a little internet research into the area (which concluded the area was the bleakest of the bleak in terms of wildlife), I decided to pop on down and see what I could see. The area was just behind a car garage and litter was strewn all over the place. I stood on the road bridge over part of the brook, and all I could see was a couple of Mallard ducks (which I was suprised to see in such a desolate place!), but after a minute or so of being stood there...you'd never guess what flew right past me over the road and back down to the brook!! Well, maybe you will as thats what Ive been chatting about! But yes, a kingfisher...so I went down the public path and climbed through the long grass and bushes towards the waters edge, and there he was...sat on a branch! He even continued to fish as I watched Being some distance off I decided to creep closer but he fled and no further exploration could find him again, but I found the perfect spot to photograph him...tomorrow hopefully as the weather should be decidedly better than todays! So finally....some good quality kingfisher shots coming this way!

Friday, 3 days away, is the first of our major deadlines this year at university, and fortunately work is progressing fairly well! We have an interim feedback session tomorrow, and whilst some of the work I need for that is at uni...I will be able to explain that no problems! Funnily enough, you may be suprised to hear that it is the first digital work we have done since September....and this is on a Digital 3D course!! I'm not too fussed as I've been able to do it...but now I've forgotten how to make things look pretty on the computer!

Aside from university, not much else has happened this past week, did a bit of photo restoration this morning which turned out very well indeed! Resuced a 90 year old photograph of a soldier, so that got me back in the Photoshop mood

Photography wise myself, I haven't taken any! Not enough time to get out at the moment, although Thursday morning may be a good time to set up camp and get that kingfisher at last...returning for tea and to finish my work...its possible! But it's all weather dependant, last time I ended up knee deep in bog and almost lost my shoes....I kid you not!

And the attic I am in is still cold! But the more I type the more my fingers warm up so type type type Phil!!!

Uni work has really been getting to me this week, well, perhaps not the work as such..more the tutor!! But for most of you, you will know about this already having read my previous entries, and for those that don't then I'm not going over it again But 2 more weeks and this section of the project will be out of my hair! Thank God!

While I was waiting to start typing....I noticed I have somehow kept up to my 78th weekly journal entry!! Thats some acomplishment for a guy like me...who gets bored with most things technology related within an hour...so I think on Week 100 I'll plan some kind of celebration...I don't know what yet mind you, it has only just sprang to mind....but it makes me wonder if I should print out and save them all for future reference! Don't know if I could be bothered though...as I said..I get bored easily...hehe

The novelty of photographing kingfishers is slowly wearing off, not due to the birds themselves, more due to the circumstances in which I would photograph them properly...don't really fancy sitting in a bush all day when it's this chilly...I would need a flask of tea or coffe....hmm...now theres food (or should I say drink?) for thought!! I just need the motivation...I may do it tomorrow...the weathers meant to be nice...I'm just rambling now so I'll leave me to it!

Ta ta!

Yes, I need some time!! Not for anything in particular....in fact, for nothing in particular. I just want to have a free morning or afternoon where I can go and take some pictures, it seems like such a rarity these days That kingfisher will be flying around and here I am stuck at home writing my dissertation introduction (well, thats not quite true, I'm writing this as I type...)

I've been listening to the Absolution album by Muse a lot this week, however, a hidden gem I have discovered in the fact this version is an instrumental...so no lyrics...and I must say that it is simple AWESOME!!

I worked on Saturday afternoon, another wedding done! Quite pleased with the results, can certainly tell the difference with the new camera, especially now I'm getting quite used to it! All I need now is a new lens, to cover the lower focal lengths! But that won't happen anytime in the near future I can but dream....however today I find out when/if I'm going to see the Northern lights so woop!

Months after starting on my quest to find and photograph a kingfisher, I have finally suceeded! You can view the pictures by visiting my wildlife galleries, either by the navigation menu to the left, or via the new, quicklinks above this entry. The little guy was a fair distance off so the images are 100% crops so lacking in amazing quality however now I'm aware of where I may find one, expect some new ones in the coming days and weeks!

Also added to my galleries include new pictures of the great Robin, in all its winter glory! Taken along with the kingfisher shots are Pennington Flash on 20th October 2007. The bullfinch has also made an appearance on here at last, with some more shots yet to go through! So enjoy all at your leisure!

To top off the red deer rut photos, earlier in the week I managed to get to Tatton Park again, and luckily the first fallow deer I spotted decided to have a fight for me, literally metres away so there will be some photos of that once in a week time event shortly!

All in all a very lucky week for me photography wise! University hasn't gone too bad either, got the RSA Oral Health project off to a reasonable start, and with a week out of university I can further that all being well!

Now then, do I buy these tickets to Norway for just before Christmas or what? The dilemma!!

Good afternoon for those in Europe, good evening for those further East, and good morning for those trailing behind in good ol' America! How are you all??

Today, I have started the long winding road of my dissertation! Woop! Although I haven't actually started the 8000 word monster itself, the plan is taking shape! So far I have written that it is indeed my dissertation plan...and...that is all! So taking shape may be a bit of an exxageration! However over the coming hours I will craft a thing of pure beauty! Or so I hope! Read next week to see how I fair!

Photography wise it has been a quiet week! Went to Blackpool yesterday to take a friends girlfriends little brother to play in his under 11s team! After watching that we went for a stroal on the promenade which was nice, especially as the sun came out! And I got the camera out for a bit and got some nice shots, which I still need to upload from the card! And then process....which may take a number of weeks given my uni work load!

Anyone else feeling the strain? Let me know I'm not the only one!!

Yes, another Monday, another morning in university! Today we were getting feedback on the weeks work, and it was positive for a change! I must be getting the hang of this...however now I'm in a position where I need to look at designing a system that collects rainwater for use in flushing the toilet etc.....all in the name of saving the whales!

Not much else has happened since my last entry a week ago, mainly due to doing all that university work! I have however had the opportunity to take a walk around Pennington Flash, and met a man who told me exactly where I could find a kingfisher....he pointed out the exact bush..and told me the exact hour of the day! Unfortunately it is a very early hour...ok...8am...but thats early for me So I'm hoping the weather clears up as a trip there in the morning might be on!

More pics have been added on my proper website, red deer starting their rut and some great crested grebes....to be added soon are my pictures from Pennington Flash!
Why..I hear you sigh...becuase I couldn't be bothered on Friday, as I was too busy playing with my new camera!! Yes....a new camera!! I invested in a 30D! I got to try it out working on Saturday also, so check out my website for the pictures if you fancy a nosey! I really like it!

Going to Tatton Park in Knutsford tomorrow afternoon to try it out on the old wildlife there....red deer!! Who will hopefully be all horny and have started their annual rut by now, but if not it should be a nice walk anyhow! Hoping to stay there quite late till the suns going down for some atmospheric shots, but I guess the deer themselves will dictate how that turns out!

Life is just really busy at the moment! And I can't decide whether I can afford to spend £180 on a flash as I've just bought my camera! Argh! It's such an excellent offer....but do I *really* need it?! Argh!! Lol....
Uni is going well, got loads of work done and might even do some more tonight....wooooop!!

Hello there dear readers!

Tonight I am having a BBQ, as I'm at my parents...the weather is lovely...and the meats in the fridge! I decided to come home for the weekend as it's my last weekend before I start back at university on Wednesday 19th, these long 4 months have finally come to an end....oh how I wish it was June again! Not really, it's been an alright Summer, gotta plan for the next Summer now....how will I live? I'll need a job!!

Anyway I have much more to plan before then, hopefully a trip to Norway at Christmas, and maybe even a Safari next Summer, which would really put the icing on the cake! But perhaps I should concentrate on working next Summer and leave the fun till the year after? I don't know...I need to think! And plan! Should I get a job soon and save all the cash to buy a new camera? Choices choices choices!!!

Maybe I could let the public decide my fate....leave me a message!!

Well, I saw real wildlife...what I mean is, a large number of different stuff all within a 30 minute walk! I visited Southport, and went to the RSPB Marshside reserve, which was an eyeopener! I watched as a sparrowhawk caught and ate it's lunch, I watched hundreds of waders and various types of duck went about their daily business, and within seconds of arriving in the main hide, I noticed a heron closer than I've ever seen one before, stood there as if I was invisible...it was a memorable experiance! And for £5.60 on the train, I can't argue!! Also I saw what I think were 2 red kites fighting for food....although this needs to be confirmed! So yes, all in all....a damn good day out! I love the sea side! I did however lose 30p against them grabber machines....where you have to pluck a soft toy with a mechanical arm....but hey...what's 30p?

My worries of a soft version of my 100-400L were rectified today, I noticed that without the UV filter on, my pictures were crisp throughout the focal range, so from now on, I'll be without that when I'm out and about...although it does leave the front of my lens open to damage but hopefully the lens hood will protect against most things!

I'm back to university in 2 weeks! Woo! After almost 4 months off...the times nearly here...my final year! Can't wait! After that...it's the big wide world...the excitement of it all!!

Well hello there my dears! Guess where I've been.....again.....working! Oh yes, indeed! The photographer liked my work so I got a second chance, and today I was promised and 3rd and 4th over the next few weeks So life is taking off it seems! Not too pleased with todays results, they seem to have come out a little flat and incredibly grainy, a bit of Lightroom should hopefully fix that though

However, my other main area of photography...the good ol' wildlife seems to be on a bit of a downer, on a 2 hour walk which was totally new to me...I took a grand total of 16 photos! Perhaps because subliminally I was more intruiged with what potential there was for the area...and where I could hide, and what might turn up in certain bits...a bit of a recce before a proper day out! I did however see a new animal to add to my tick list...I also got its picture, however, not very well as I didn't want to get my camera wet....yes, it was a crayfish! Which as it's name suggests...lives under water, however, as it's name falsely suggests, it isn't a fish! More of a lobster type thing...a crustation for those in the know

Speaking to my well travelled (in the local area at least..) Grandad, I learnt that he saw kingfishers futher up the river than I went, which will be something to check out on my next trip, hopefully in the new week if the weather cheers up! Maybe even if it doesn't..at least I'd have the place to myself!

God it's going to be horrible going back to uni, having to do work that isn't photography....roll on next Summer!

So, it's approaching the end of Summer, I have little cash...what do I do with myself? A trip to my parents is definatly on the cards, which will save me money...except the train fare obviously but thats cheap enough booked in advance! Got 2 days working in the next 7 days too so hopefully that'll give me a small cash injection! Roll on student loans hey!

Travelling around Manchester is cheap enough...but I've been everywhere and lack motivation to go again, even though I know I have barely scratched the surface as to what I can see there...you see I lack patience to sit and wait...I'd rather go off hunting down my target, alas this usually leads more to missing it! Maybe I should try that out next week...just sitting there...and waiting...and waiting...can't hurt to try can it? Well..I may get a sore bum but somethings are inevitable!

Fears of my 100 - 400mm lens being soft have crept up again, with this work coming up I really need it to perfom and give me crisp, sharp results, I'm sure some of it is just bad technique on my part but I can't be *that* bad can I?! Only time will tell!

Only a month to go till I start university again, for my 3rd and final year! Can't wait for it to be over, but this year has to go incredibly well for me to get a decent degree grade, but I have to confidence I can do it! I always seem to have done in the past Just hope I can ignore my tutors awfulness and just do my best!
It is getting rather fustrating not having the internet at home, despite having the TV and phone services provided seemingly free by the same people who should be serving us internet. So much hassle just to swap over the names of the account I have just checked the site and it seems just re-ordering it from scratch would be a lot simpler! But I could moan about that all day....today I am off to see a photographer for a small job acting as a secondary photographer! It seems things are on the up! My bank balance might even be included in that hehe! It would only be during the week, as he already has someone for weekends, however that might change Well, I can dream can't I?

Never did manage to find them kingfishers....got some good shots of a heron though, which eluded me for many days at my parents...not the same bird obviously (or could it be....hmmm) but a heron none the less! So...success!!

I'm thinking perhaps an evening walk to try and get one feeding later, a Kingfisher that is....so back to google for some research!
So guess where I'm off when I've finished this! (and listening to 28 Days Later soundtrack...'In a heartbeat' is an amazing piece of music!

It has been some time since I was out photographing, and today is a nice day so I should really make the most of it! And not waste my time doing my journa....oh wait....I'll edit that bit out later hehe. Anyway, I have begun editing by back log of pictures but I won't put them all on until I have a substantial amount, then I can flood you lucky people with them all at once!

I found some dandelion and burdock cordial the other day, which despite my original waryness, is actually really nice! Hunt it down at your local Morrisons today....!!

Uni is only 2 months away now, and I'm quite looking forward to it, my final year!! Ooooooh! Got some ideas in mind for my final project, hopefully they will be able to fit into the brief one way or another! We shall see nearer the time I guess! I'm just rambling now...I really want to get out!

So I think I will!
However, I have perhaps the best excuse ever this time, unpacking!

Just about got myself set up, and have stumbled across Adobe Master Suite (which didn't have Lightroom....so I had to stumble across that later), so am now fully prepared for the year ahead! And perhaps more dauntingly the past couple of months of photos to edit and upload! I count about 500 to go through, which is ashamedly less than I would have liked to be honest, alas it has been difficult getting out and about photographing! However...tomorrow...that will change! Either a) I will be going along to the practicing sessions for the filming of 'Cricket' or b) going to Lyme Park to see the deers! If the weather will be as good as today then it should be perfect day!

Hello all,

there was once a man from England, who got lots behind on his journal, often posting 5, 6 even 10 days late sometimes. This man is known as Phil. This man....is me. But now, my journals are up to date, back on track for Friday entries, granted it is 10:30pm GMT, which is my local time so it's only just Friday still! However, it is indeed Friday.

So, this week, as you may have read, I got my first comission, to design and implement a website for the local pub! I have many ideas in mind however none on paper. I think tomorrow daytime will be spent drawing up my ideas into a small portfolio, as in the evening I do believe we (my family) will be off to the pub in question to see a Pink Floyd tribute band! So I can show him my ideas at the same time, which may be useful as I can pop to the bar and speak to the boss...bypassing the queue If it is as busy as it was last week then the queue for the beer will be out of the door!

On the other hand, if it's raining as it has been, then it may be empty! I think I might make the opportunity to get out with the camera too and get some photos of the band! Might get myself future work from that too......but well we can see!

Well, after a few up and downs, the website is 90% finished! Obviously, uploading all my pictures is a big part of the remaining 10%, and will take some time but the over aesthetics are done. Please do feel free to check it out, [link]! Leave any feedback you may have, it will be greatly welcomed!

On another website note, I have been comissioned! My mission, which I chose to accept, was to produce a website for our local...which needs an online room booking service, photos, gig calander and so on! So I'll be getting my teeth into that very soon.....

Back to Manchester next week! Still lacking all motivation, hopefully it shall return, on my return to the city life...but one can hope!

Yes, the time has nearly come....on the 23rd I shall be returning to Manchester to move into my new house, and I can't wait! Perhaps because it's beautiful...perhaps because I've so much to do and I can't be bothered doing it here. Slow PC's are frustrating, and I can't really do my 3D work, or edit photos at any decent speed, realistically. I installed Adobe Lightroom and it killed the PC....I don't want to imagine it on the laptop!

So I have a backlog of a 1000 or so pictures to sift through and edit, and upload! Speaking of which, I'll have to upload them twice...once here, and once to my new website.

Which reminds me, I also need to finish that off, it looks fantastic in Firefox but there is a few small CSS errors in Internet Explorer....and when 70% of people use it, I can't be having that!

But this is where my problem lies. Motivation. I wake up earlyish every morning but I just can't get out of bed! I got up at 10am this morning, way too late to start doing anything major so it's just been wasted on lazing around playing computer games and browsing the internet.....

so, if any of my faithful readers have any tips.....let me know!!

Yes, it's that time of year again....I decided to revamp my ailing website, with a brand spanking (lots of spanking!) new design and interface. It's based on Joomla which is a content management system, so I can easily update it and update my online gallery too! No point checking out just yet, desperate as you are, as it's not looking that great at the moment as I'm getting my head around personalizing it, it's a bit harder than just a flat website as you have to incorporate all the database driven stuff too! I feel like I'm boring you now....

....anyway! I'm still at home, about to have bacon sandwiches, with brown sauce yum yum! Then I think I'm off out for a walk with the dog, to the cash machine, then onto the lovely fields for an afternoon in the sun This really is the life!

Again! I am home....twice in 2 journal entries, alas this one is late, and if I had filled it in last Friday as I should have, then I would have just been home....but to Manchester. Which I triumphantly escaped yesterday! At last, I moved out of that house! Monday saw the signing of the contract for the new house, which I am just 4 weeks away from moving into! I can't wait because it is quite beautiful!

What else has happened? Well I bought a new tripod after the rest of my student loan came in, £150!! Tis a beauty though, and weighs a ton! Don't know how I'll haul it places on my bike....I'll have to get creative. For the first time in some time!

Which reminds me...I passed my second year of university! I got 50.9 which is about 9 points less than the previous year...not so good, especially as second year counts towards my degree. But having passed it and gotten it out of the way, I am happy! With moving in with a course mate, I feel my final year will be much more productive, especially in happier, cleaner surroundings!

Roll on final year!

I am home! After a long and diverted train journey! Got good value for money for my £8.50 anyway! Yes, if you read my last entry...I should have posted an entry last Friday however could not. Why? Well I can't really remember! The past two weeks, since I left work have been a bit of a blur, I've been moving stuff out of my house, been visiting friends, family, sorting out all the formalities of leaving my job...it's been a hectic two weeks!

The fruits of my labour have finally paid off though and here I am, free from the devastation that was my house on Matlock Avenue....the nightmare is over! Not a moment too soon either, roll on my new house and of course a lovely summer!

In my last proper entry I remember mentioning a cheese and tomato butty and someone was unsure of what I meant, well.....in my neck of the woods, a butty is a sandwich Which I am hopeful is satisfactory explanation!

Now I'm home....I don't really know what to do with myself! My brother has commondered my xbox 360, and I'm stuck sorting out the wireless internet, which is a change I guess....at least I don't have to travel for an hour to visit the internet now! I got it right here in front of me.....the simplest of pleasures I have been denied for the past year!

Anyway, the good news....remember those pictures that I lost a while ago and have been trying to recover from my hard drive...with no luck? Well I was browsing through all the pics I've printed over the years...and guess what I stumble across?! 13 of the best pictures from that day! My printer isn't the best so they're not amazing quality, and I forgot to bring them to uni but I will, in time, scan them in to share with the world!

It's all go go go now, I'm heading home a week on Thursday to see my lovely family, Muse (if I can get in touch with the guy who has my tickets...damn you Paul! lol) and to go sit in a field to try and take pictures of some Japanese Cranes, not the metal ones....the bird variety, pretty things they are, and have set up home 5 miles from my parents! Can't wait, especially if the weather's nice! Looking to find photographic hides (tents with holes in) but I can't seem to find any...nor remember the websites listed in my book.....which I just remembered I have in my bag haha....oh the fun!

Well this week I handed in my notice at work, last day was meant to be today but I said I'd work weekend as the kids are off on holiday! Bit sad to leave my cinema chums but I may return after summer

On the cinema note....some hilarious videos have turned about working in a cinema, go on youtube.com and search for Matt Fackrell, there is 3 to watch....perhaps you need to work there to get the jokes but I enjoyed them!

Summer is about to begin!

Go home in 2 weeks today, and Muse in 2 weeks and 3 days! If I can get hold of the dude who has my tickets anyway, I paid him.....argh!

That means its only 10 days till I can move my stuff out of my house, which will be a beautiful day! The only thing keeping me down is that house and its inhabitants, but I won't go there, getting all angry again!

Coz I'm happy...I am, honestly!

A few days, for which I must apologize, but here it is! The lack of internet at home is the downfall of my weekly journal entry alas I have come all the way to university to update you on my life!

And to be honest, I don't have much to say this week. Work...well I hand my notice in this week I think, as I want to go to Tenby for a while with Mr Flint and his mates, and have a general arse around before I move out. Once I find out what my dad and uncle have been upto though I shall assess the financial situation and go from there! With Pirates of the Caribbean out tomorrow I don't want to be there that much longer haha...although I will miss my work buddies! Sorry guys

On a happier note...I am 3 weeks away from moving out of the hell hole I call 23 Matlock Avenue, and away from the mess I call Adam. Turns out he got someone else to do the special effects on his film...saves me having to let him down I guess! The thoughts of getting through the front door to home are getting better and better, and the troubles of the past year ever so distant! Of course, once I have moved out, I have the excitement of moving into my new house at the end of July all being well! Pete.....have they been in touch yet?!

Anyway, I got to do some photographing this week too! Sunday saw the BUPA Great Manchester Run take place so I popped on down with my camera and rather large lens to take some pictures of sweaty people, also people dressed in silly costumes! I shall put these on when I've edited them all, but with 200 to go through it'll take me a short while! Still no luck on recovering those special photos though........argh....!!

Yesterday, (Thursday) saw the completion of my last university project aside from work experience which I have two more weeks of. Two whole weeks to work on the UpNorf MP3 player and begin to put a website together for them also. That however will take a wee bit longer then two weeks! But the wait will be worth it! I promise, Sally!

I am writing this from my bed for a change, in my thought book, which follows me everywhere in my bag! With my pen!

Well, thats as far as I got before I got bored of writing and watched television instead! Alas the past week has been much of that good ol' boredom! I have tried to recover my lost photos, and have had mixed success, my .jpg files are fine and dandy however my .cr2 RAW files which I started using recently, and contain my best photos....all seem to be corrupt, but....I'm in the search for a fix! I can preview the files through the thumbnails but not open the full picture, shame really So near yet so far!

I'm sat in the the editing suite at university and some annoying girl hasn't heard of earphones! The same music over and over and over...and it is some classical piece that I enjoyed the first time...but not the millionth arrrrrgh!

OK I can't do it anymore....
I'm leaving.....

Yes. I've finally made it! Roughly a year ago to the day (I said roughly so no smart asses please....) I was on here making my first journal entry in my journal journey! I've had some ups, some downs, some backward and inevitably some forwards, which has been all very well! Here I am now, a year on, wondering what the next year will hold. More of the same no doubt. My final year in uni will be covered by weeks 70ish through to weeks 120ish, imagine some 'ARGH DEADLINE TOMORROWS' that I will be battling through, and some 'phew....thank god that's over' and perhaps in the not so distant future 'thanks Pete, our BBQ made me sick....' hehe. Just joking, I'm a wonderful cook!

Anyway, more in the present for now. Remember last week how I promised some of my most cherished photos to date? Well a couple of hours later, I managed to break my hard drive containing them all, and my uni work of course......just to be an arse. However, do not despair as I was, I have just found some lovely freeware software that may help me recover my lovely work! I hope to God it works....I guess I will find out later, and you will find out next week!

With a bit less uni work to do, and a renewed drive to take some photo's I did however manage to get the ol' camera out of the bag and take some new snaps which I shall put on when I have finished this....I seem to have lost my old way of doing things though, my photographicness is not what it used to be....good or bad I shall let you decide!

I have decided I am going to move out of my house on the 23rd June or around there, dependant on when I can get someone to help me move, like an uncle or someone...I shall need to speak to my dad about that though, as my new house will be ready to move into in the last week in July so it'll mean a lovely month at home, which I'm rather looking forward to! Also....to quit my job, speaking of which, I could have seen Spiderman 3 at midnight last night in a special staff screening, however I was tired.....so went to bed instead.....call me mad eh!

Well well! Apologies for my late entry last week however I haven't had internet access some time, so accessing dA has been a bit of an impossibility really! It is there now anyway!

Would you like the good or th bad first? Well I'd personally like to end on a happy note so here we go...

It was my (apparent) friends 21st birthday meal last night, I could not go due to work, nor did I really fancy going with a vandalizing waste of space. Harsh words? Not really...thats the nice way of describing him! Yes, I awoke this morning to find the hallway, which includes my door, and the front garden covered in green spray paint. Also, we had somehow managed to acquire a new gate for our garden, I tried to spot which house it had been taken from on my way down the street this morning but couldn't tell. I hope he can remember....he will need to put it back and apologise, if he is capable of being that grown up. Which I strongly doubt. So yes, he has confirmed himself as a total and utter bastard. Avoid Adam Barker at all costs, professionally and personally, is my advice to you.

On a good note, I have finally found a new house! It is so beautiful inside, and out for that matter! At a mere £53 a week it is a bargain too! Saying that, I'd pay £100 a week if it meant not having to live with my current house mate. I will be moving with a guy who has become a close friend (not that close Pete....he he) and will hopefully be for many years to come! O.k I'm going soppy now, but it just goes to show how much I loathe certain, aforementioned people.

Anyway, I must leave you to complete 3 months of research in an afternoon!

(As dictated on Monday 23rd April 2007)

Yes it has been a week of erm...well not a lot really! I tried to do it, but I just cannot. Perhaps it is too many hours at work? 32 this work, I mean week! See what I mean? I've asked for a few less hours over the next few weeks, due to tiredness and amounting university work. Two deadlines are approaching and I'm nowhere near done! It has taken two evenings to draw up 12 storyboards!

Still needing to arrange a house to live in next year and moving day is a mere 10 weeks away, but a move home for 4 weeks is probably on the cards! Which will be nice for me, won't it? Why yes it will..but I still need to break the news to my boss! Plenty of time I guess....

...so how are you all? I do read everyones journals but not always have the time to respond!

Expect new photos soon, some of which I am very proud of, and hope to receive some good criticism for, so ready your arty eye!!

Till then....

Well, sat here watching the soaps and now Eastenders has copied Coronation Street and gone and put an illegal immigrant into the storyline. Slightly different as the one I suspected as being the illegal....was the illegal! But she gave herself in, and left Jim and Dot with her illegal baby. In typical Eastenders fashion the drum beats kicked in and on came the credits...I'll have to watch again next week.

Anyway, I'm not working, and it is Friday evening....this feels like a bit of a treat as I haven't had a free Friday evening in quite some time! I do however have to work tomorrow and Sunday evening but its oly 10 hours over the 2 days which is good. As I have both the daytimes to myself also!

Ooooh My Family is on TV now....

I think a pattern may be emerging here, no work = more TV. When I should really be doing university work, but come on, it is a Friday night! Can't do that....could I? Well no, I couldn't! So I won't.

Moving on, isn't the weather lovely? It has been gorgeous here in lovely Manchester all week, bar Wednesday morning when it has rained a little! I think I'm gabbering on.....TV is dis....trac....ting me.

TV is evil. Remember that.

Well I returned to Manchester today, unfortunately.

Yep. That says it all.

OK, perhaps I shall explain why the unfortunately. First you may have noticed I put that I returned to Manchester, not home...the reason for this is, I hate Manchester now. For instance, I walked in the house, my house 'mate' said hi, then proceeded to tell me he had borrowed my xbox 360 controller, whats wrong with that I hear you cry? Well, I had purposely hidden it under my duvet to stop him borrowing it, which tells me that he has been snooping round my room.

Secondly, I hate the bus trip back to mine. Granted, there are no buses where I class as home (I say no buses...I mean very few...) but I'd rather have no bus than an over crowded bus. After a 3 and a half hour train journey the last thing I needed was some sweaty smoke smelling man sat next to for a further 35 minutes.

Thirdly, work, working another 10 hour shift tomorrow, 5 and a half on Sunday, and two 6 hour shifts till midnight on Tuesday and Thursday. Why so many hours?! Why two midnight finishes in a week?! I can't really complain though since I have only had one midnight close since Christmas....hehe. But I'm having a rant so I can moan about what I want!!

Home, really does feel like home now, I know the locals, know the area, and love the warmer weather!

My dog is....lovely! My wallet....is empty

But I am home, and that is good enough for me! Don't really know what to say this week....did 6 days in a row at work which I thought was going to kill me, but I left with a smile (basically I was thinking of the rather bountiful wage a week on Friday!).

I am going to redo my website whilst I am here and have a funky new design which will show off all my business ventures...but I'm going to go for a white design with minimal purple colourings (my website being called Purple Clouds...)

Hmm....really don't know what to do with myself, feel like I should be doing something....

Need to figure out how to make a Flash based mp3 player for a myspace, any links to tutorials would be much appreciated!

Anyway, my apologies for it being a late entry, by some days! My excuse? I don't need one really...its a voluntary thing I do. But I finished university last Thursday for the Easter hols and so haven't had the internet since, but I decided to come in today so I could update you folks on my life.

Having had the worst weekend in sometime, I can't wait to return home to my family! And of course....dogs It all started on Saturday at work, the general manager was in...(no, that wasn't the bad thing), I had just mopped the floor outside the food area and put a wet floor sign out as per health and safety regulations. Then he comes over and begins to slide his foot over the floor demonstrating how easy it is to slip on it, at which point I pointed out the wet floor sign telling people to be careful. Alas he was not impressed and proceeded to tell me to dry the floor with blue roll (industrial loo roll thats coloured blue basically!) so I got down and started wiping the whole floor, which isn't the smallest of floors, with tissue as he stood over me watching me, as if I didn't know how to dry a floor!! I had thought of wrapping some blue roll round a brush and pushing it around making things easier but decided not to be clever in front of him incase he felt challenged, so stuck to my manual method. This pissed me off. Lots.

Next there was more trouble with house mates, which I shall not delve into as I don't want to admit anything on the internet...I'll just leave it to your imaginations what I did after they pissed me off further!

This however renewed my enthusiasm for finding a new house to live in next year with my uni mates, who are much maturer and I know I will get on with better! Come to think of it, they were meant to be here at 10 and its 20 past now......one minute please, while I ring them.....

Yes, this weeks is dedicated to my long time reader Still-the-same-smile whose name has been pretty much my mood recently, Somewhat oblivious to what is going on around me in the world I have been a bit subdued in my own little world, which contains nothing more than uni work, and university work, much to my own loss. Despite being on planet Phil, my spirits have remained high and my smile is still a real smile (hence still the same smile....).

Work have given me off the 1st to the 6th of April so I can return home to see my family and see Incubus at the M.E.N which is very nice of them, considering I was expecting no time off at all. I love Easter Really need to escape planet Phil (aka Manchester) for a few days relaxing with the family and my dog!! Whose recent picture has been attracting some attention it seems, I thank you all kindly!

It's been a little quiet on the photography front, mainly due a deadline this coming Thursday, but then I'm finished for Easter so can really get some free time to myself to go wandering like I did in the good ol' days....ok so it wasn't that long ago, but it certainly feels it!

I don't know if I mentioned about going along on the film shoot the other week doing photography there? Well I did anyway, as I took some photos of the auditions I decided to get all the pictures from the whole project took first, then I'll show the world them once it's over and done with! Got some awesome ones I must say!

I had this really weird woman talking to herself on the bus yesterday, whenever we went past an advert or a sign or anything, she would say "Where did you find those PG Tips? Where did you find Manchester University?" and so on, whilst talking gibberish in between. I felt a bit sorry for her, unless she was drunk of course, in which case the feeling would be jealousy! Also in work the other day, the local loon walked in (I had previously not met him, but everyone else had...and found it funny that I tried to make sense of him), he walked in, right up to me and stated loudly "My God! It can't be? Judge Dredd?!?!" to which I replied "What?" and walked off quickly as the smirks spread across my fellow cinema workers faces Not a good week for me reguarding weird people!

Anyway I need to get dressed and sort out my council tax before they send the boys round

Till Friday people!

The title....gives nothing away about the contents of this journal. As this journal doesn't really contain anything (but don't stop reading just yet....I may remember something to write). So the title could, (unless I think of something) may be very misleading!

This week has been very normal. Worked 25 hours, looked at new houses....oh, there we go, something new! Yesterday me and my chums checked out this amazing looking house in Withington, Manchester. It is cheaper than I'm paying now, with huge gardens, double driveway, lovely interior! Perfect, now if only everyone can afford it....they were meant to be here today so we could discuss it further alas they have not turned up!

Today we are learning the art of composition, putting our 3D work onto a real video/image to achieve movie special effect type stuff, like Gollum onto Mr Serkis! Except not quite as advanced yet, thats after lunch hehe I have so far put a teapot onto a child drawing of 'I'm a little teapot' and my idea was stolen by Christina....tut tut ut Christina, I thought you were better

It is all interesting stuff! The possibility to shoot a music video has arisen, from the development of my little business venture, and the website I'm currently producing for the same company, Up Norf Productions, has been expanded and will probably require the help of my comrades.......

Thats enough for you now

And my fingers are tired.....

Until next week readers!

Oh dear I deleted a website I was making for a friend last night off my USB memory stick, thinking the most recent version was on my PC, alas, it was not! So I'm in uni now trying to find some software to recover it....theres plenty, however I can't install most of them on the uni PCs. and I can't take it home to do because if I put it on my pen drive then I might overwrite the work! Problem!! I'll ask my lovely lecturer when he arrives........

So, apart from my wee little situation, all else is good! Less hours at work, still 4 shifts but I can cope with that now I have changed my days. Got all Monday and Wednesday to myself at least, and usually a weekend day! So I'm feeling relaxed, happy and well.....happy!

I went to the zoo last weekend with my lovely Amy, took some photos of tigers and stuff! Will put up the nice ones soon....got like a million though...

I think I'm going to have a breakdown I need to get away, have a break.....move out of my house. I can't believe how childlike my house mate is, it's like getting a 5 year old to clean their room, seriously! 20 and can't even wash up after himself.....stupid. I think I'm going to look into moving out before Summer to save myself from going nuts. He said I was 'womanly' but surely it isn't womanly to just want a clean plate to eat off?

Work too...32 hours I have been put on the rota for this week, 32!! That's near enough full time, don't they realize I have university to attend and university work to do? I have been put in on a Thursday which I am officially 'unavailable' on so theres no chance I'm doing that shift, even so, it is still 25 hours near enough that I'll be doing. I'm just thinking of the money, it'll be useful right now!

Anyway, enough of the complaining....

University deadline today, I've finished it, but apparently people are being told to do more detail on it, which I can't as I've burnt my CD now So I'm leaving it till the end of the day and hand it in then...when it's too late for him to say anything. If he wanted extra detail he should have said when he showed us how to do the schematics.....oh.....there I go again....complaining...
A week on from my last entry, I'm back in uni with the cool lecturer dude, and have no work to go to so I'm here from the duration! Learning about particles today in 3D Studio Max, something I've only covered the basics of so I best listen today lol.

Got my new lens and my god it rocks The zoomyness is awesome!
Ooooh he is talking...*listens in*

Got some funky new ideas for animations, aside from the student one we were doing for the BBC! Hopefully get cracking on one of them soon....I should really stop this and listen in it's all good stuff! So I shall go......

Well hello there....I didn't see you come in....how are you? I'm sat in a uni lecture, yes I have a lecture for once! Typically, I've been put in work at 11.30 so can only stay for half of it oh well...it's only 3D animation in 3D Studio Max, won't miss much hehe.

My tutor is being nice all of a sudden...he liked my furniture project despite me doing it in 2 days, but he didn't know that, and I hope he doesn't read this! Got a couple of new projects to start and they sound pretty good! I have to do a virtual website for the Guggenheim museum place...can't decide between New York and Bilbao though. Have to model whichever I chose in 3D so New York is winning so far.....my other project is an animation one (at long last) which will involve combining 3D and live action it seems, we don't have the brief yet but he says to bear in mind the new film '300'

21...and I feel younger than ever! I've gone from trying to be older to actually realising im still a big kid at heart! My guitar skills are advancing, I can play a bit of 'Feeling Good' and 'Wild Thing' ...now all I need is an electric

The big 21!! I wonder what it'll hold.....20 held quite a few suprises and twists and turns and I no doubt the next year will hold many more...and if none have showed up a month into it, I'll make some of my own

Getting my new camera tomorrow too.....Canon 400D and a nice 100-400mm L IS lense to go with it, parents are buying the camera, I'm buying the lens...so I'll be skint for some time now. But I have to get these things before I have to pay for a house and stuff!

So, I'm at home now....with my lovely dog! And family, which is a nice break from the norm and a change from Manchester, really does your head in not seeing a field each day. Yes, I like fields! Speaking of which, I took a trip to Lyme park with a Pete and Christina (the hills wern't that big ok.....) Anyway, the trip to photograph deer didn't turn out to well, however the trip to knacker myself really went off with a bang! But I plan to return next week so I can go deer hunting again, and also, try and see some Tawny owls!!

I visited Manchester museum on thursday where they had a exhibition on of wildlife photography done in the North West, most of it within 10 miles of my house....and my god was it amazing!! Reignited my drive to achieve the same...and they have a competition on to win workshops with the dude who took the pics so I'm entering that as a test of my skills! Expect some new pics soon!
A week in which I can relax, and refresh, so that come next Tuesday I can go in and really show what I can do! I know I should have been doing that from new year....but the project was one of last years, which wasn't a good year (nor a tyre......ahem)

Big Brother finished and the race 'victim' won suprise suprise....a fix I hear me cry....probably not.

Yes.....thats me humming the James Bond theme tune. Why? Because I'm in the middle of a group project to make an unofficial...official...Bond website for the new movie. Got till next Friday, and bearing in mind we didn't start till last Monday (having had 3 weeks to do it prior) we have come a long way and I would say completion is possible....and to a relatively good standard!

What else has happened this week? NOTHING!! Just uni, uni, uni...and yes...more uni! Argh! What do I have to look forward to? Well I'm off to Chester Zoo tomorrow which will provide some relaxation and some good chances for animal photos me hopes. Still want to get out and about and see some real wildlife...in the wild...but alas I do not have any time right now, and there won't be much about with it being winter anyway. Roll on Summer! Might do a tour of the UK toa....nearly wrote toast then lol....I meant coast. Hmm I'm hungry...

Is it just me who ISN'T watching Celebrity Big Brother?? All this racist crap going on...now don't get me wrong, I am deeply against racism, ageism, fatism, and so on, but unless Jade Goody has said something specifically racist then can we just drop it?? Of course, I have not watched any of it so am unaware what has been said exactly, but if what she has said was racist, is it wrong for her to be in the house still?? Should she not have been kicked out and arrested for race hate crimes? Come on Britain! Its either one or the other!!

Thank you, and good night!

Where do I begin? I have till Monday to write a 2000 word essay on making city centres more unique. With the rise of chains such as Starbucks and McDonalds streets are becoming identical which is pretty boring....apparently! And I, as a mere mortal on this earthly coil must think of a way to re-individualise these modern day paved consumer driven hells. Any ideas anyone? I have 4 books to trawl through and hopefully some internet research if I ever finish on here hehe.
Not much has happened this week except going to uni everyday except yesterday...possibly my most productive week so far since I started!
