So I'm all moved in at art school now! Horrah forever! I have already encountered cockroaches, mice, rats, and raccoons. Oh, and mad homeless people. The whole... city thing is still weird to me. But my classes are really sweet. Well, except for English because my prof. is a whore who loves the sound of her own voice like jews love money. She just talks non-stop for three hours. Ugh.

Other than that it's cool though. Haven't been doing as much drawing as I would like. It's had to go on the back burner to sculpture (which I am crap at) and painting. I have discovered I HATE oil paint. It just ends up a muddy mess, and it stinks, and you have to deal with all these chemicals... pain in the ass. At least acrylics are easy. And I suck on my watercolor brushes all the time to get the points right, and I'm not dead. Plus I'm just not a big fan of painting. But my drawing teacher is boss. So hopefully I'll be doing more than just figure studies soon.

I do have a few things I want to put up here but since I'm poor and don't have photoshop on my fancy new macbook yet I don't have any editing software. But soon.

Mostly been hanging out with my friends, like my new bffl ~deenabeana luff you guuuuurl.

Still working on applications. Well, just essays actually. I'm applying to SVA, Cooper Union, Pratt, RIT, and the Boston Museum School (or whatever it's called). They all want me to write why I want to be an artists. And I'm like, first of all, I'm already and artist, thank you very much. Second of all, if I wanted to write about it, I'd be a writer, not an artist, now wouldn't I? And thirdly, ...I just don't have a good answer. I mean, I can't very well write 'because I'm crap at everything else and don't have the grades to get into a real school, not that I would want to anyways'.

I just wanna watch more Batman. Have I mentioned I like Batman? I like Batman. I think I should go draw Batman. In fact I think I will. So there.

i personally define the difference between drawing and painting as the difference between value and line. paintings are images built up using values, while drawings use line. by this definition i am far stronger and more comfortable with drawing because i think in terms of lines, as opposed to values or forms.

what i want to know is what you think. what is a drawing and what is a painting? are these terms limited to art created with certain media? can a drawing be a painting and visa versa? as a community of artist im sure your answers will be far more interesting than those of a bunch of freshman who just need art credit.
