I'm planning on making this an artist collaboration, sort of like a collage of artist's "fanarts" (haha, although, technically, they'd be requested???) plus my words. (and some of my art, of course). Artists will get full acknowledgement at the end of the book and IF IF IF it gets published, I don't want to get sued, so please keep in mind that you will not get paid for this. but you can prolly get a free copy?? lol...

It was a whirl of black and purple. Of something else all together. Caps and gowns and smiling parents amid a sea of lights and nervous seniors.

I'd never felt more alive.

And sitting up there, it was like I'd shot up from the ground -- all grown up and the entire world to discover.

And then the robes came off to reveal the white dresses, saris -- black suits, pink ties, golden ribbons -- Off came the caps and there was the slicked back hair; hair curled into loops and hair straightened out.

Then there was the tree planting. Whiz whiz whiz, it went by so fast. Off to the reception with pearls at my throat and my friends at my side.

Well today is goinna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you.

And watching everyone around me I sang along.
And the words:

Perfectly manicured hands clapped together in unison and oh it was a song we'd all remember.

Then the party.

Sticky slick with sweat. And bodies all over the wall...me being Ann-sensei. And the whip of my hips and the dip of our waists and whirling whirling of our hair.
Air thick with the smell of alcohol and smoke which I didn't touch and the slow unravelling of my classmates as bodies bumped and grinded to the steadily frantic beat of the music.

I have never spent more money in my life.

In the span of 10 minutes, I LITERALLY spent P2000. Which isn't that much money, but it shocked the hell out of me. I wanted to die.

I met a guy named Jamie. Or maybe it was James. I didn't really meet him. But I was eating at Tokyo Tokyo with my aunt and he left his card on our table. It advertised that he sold dried mangoes.

I bought 4 packs. Not because I like dried mangoes (I don't even know what the hell they are) but because according to his card, the money he earned is going for his education. Which I think is great. At least he's not randomly mugging people. Which would suck a lot.

Today I went to Robinsons, next to Sta Lucia. There was a man who was beggin at the corner. I gave him P120. I didn't have any other change. I feel really bad.

Leaving Robinsons, I came across a little girl. She was selling jasmine flowers strung up on a rope. She was the prettiest thing I ever saw. My aunt and I bought 2 for P10 each. Then I emptied my wallet (which had loads of coins) and gave it to her. And for good measure I kissed her. She was the sweetest little thing I've ever seen.

I hope she'll be okay. I hope other people buy her jasmine flowers strung up on rope. I hope other people give her kisses and hugs.

I hope people treat her good.

Everywhere I looked today, there were people with big boobs. I mean, really. My mom nearly had an accident on one lady's boobs. I mean...because. BECAUSE of one lady's boobs. They were humbungously humungous. and the b is intentionaly.

But then there were the silences that always scared me; because I knew and he knew that something had to be said.

But no. We couldn't. Not then.
And we'd sit there, trying not to look at each other or else everything we'd established for so many years would be gone.
It would be different if he and I had been brave enough.
Or was it weak enough?
It would be different if he and I had been wise enough.
Or was it foolish enough?
I don't know.
But for whatever reasons, we said nothing.
We had wanted to.
But in the end it was no longer a necessity because for one reason or another, our hearts were always placed in someone else's hands; for them to do what they see fit with it.

And when they broke, eachother we had and we'd be there to cry on each other and to soothe each other.

And it's sad because...

He was unsuccessful.
But anyway, back to the funny thing that happened to me days and days ago.
After coming back home (back then) from school, what I usually do is take off my contacts and then wash my face with Neutrogena (sp?) and then pop on my glasses and slop on some clothes and...well, after that, it all depends.
Well, that particular day, I came back home, and decided, that instead of washing my face first, and all that bathroom-y stuff, I'd change my clothes first.
You know.
Add some excitement to my life.
Well I did, yadda yadda, and THEN washed my face and then it happened.
Some Neutrogena foamy crap went into my eyes.
Now, on the back it says:
Flush out thoroughly with warm water.
But I always rinse out with cold.
Now, since both eyes are stinging like crazy, and my arms are flailing (flaily!) around like a windmill's, I just flushed it out with cold since I couldn't read the specification of warmness.
Now, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I thought it did. They wouldn't specify warm if you could use just any old water.
Well, setting that all aside, I dried my face and walked (with eyes closed) to my dressing table where my glasses are kept. I popped my glasses on, took a deep breath, and opened my eyes.

everything was blurry!
omg!
I WAS GOING BLIND!
BLIND!
Then I took them off and rubbed my eyes out a bit.
Then I opened them again without my glasses on.
And then it hit me.
I could see perfectly!
I had 20/20 vission!
OMG, NEUTROGENA CURED MY VISSION!
WOOHOO!
I could see!
I could read from a distance!
I DIDN'T NEED GLASSES

for those of you who don't wear glasses and for those of you who like wearing glasses, you couldn't care less and you won't understand.
But that was a major turning point in my life.

flushing out my eyes (i love that word. flush.) with cold water instead of warm corrected my vission?
Wow.
Not only was my vission amazingly corrected, I had just discovered something.
Should I start making profit out of this?
I'd probably just tell Mahsa and Laila and not tell anyone else. Or just charge for money.
But more importantly:
I had discovered something.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANT!
I MADE MY FIRST BREAKTHROUGH AT FIFTEEN!

Well, overcome with all this information hitting me in the span of 5 seconds, I could only do the one thing that I saw fit to.
I cried.
I cried and cried and cried.
My vision.

A discovery.
At fifteen.
(and you all thought I was stupid)
