HI!!! BILLY MAYS HERE WITH ANOTHER FAAAN-TASSSS-TICK NEW UPDATE!!!
First off, I'm sorry for ignoring everyone lately, and for missing the An Cafe concert. Mudd chewed me up and spit me out just in time for summer vacation, and it took me a month or so to get over that, to the point where I could have a conversation without exploding at anyone. I've been sewing like mad, and I have two super cute cosplays for AX.
One is a remake of my Miso cosplay from last year. I sacked the baggy dress and made it into a better fitting skirt, and added in a frilly tee-shirt. The skirt is shorter and extra poofy, and my family tells me that I look like I belong in a sci-fi/cheerleader anime, which I guess is reasonable, considering how excited I get in the outfit. The hat, shoes and tights are still the same, since they worked really well last year.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!!111!!!

The second is Kagura from Azumanga Daioh, with the blue summer seifuku. My sister's birthday present is a trip to AX and an outfit, and she wanted to be Chio-chan, so I agreed to twin with her. (Secretly, I've always wanted a seifuku, but don't tell anyone that. I've been running around my house and being excited every time I see a mirror. It's also insanely comfy. I love cotton.) My brother is being Tadakichi-san the dog, which works out pretty well because I only needed to make him a hat and some paws. Reducing my workload is always nice.

I'll probably be wearing lolita or my usual bum clothes the rest of the time, taking pictures for the next weeaboo video.

I'm volunteering at AX this summer, because it gets me free pizza and a badge and the chance of a free hotel room. C: I have no idea where I'll be working when, but hopefully I can get a shift at the Moi dix Mois concert. That would be pretty epic.

On the brighter side, I'm making two, full length, heavy, thick, warm, wool jedi robes. My fabric came it yesterday, and Nick and I had to carry it out of the mailroom on our shoulders. It was all rolled up like a carpet. xD

On another fun note, my ears are officially big enough to see through. Pictures coming up soon. I'm considering getting my conches both done. Definitley don't want them right now, though, with the way my head feels.
My nose and lip are both happy (for once! I finally found jewelry that my nose doesn't get angry about), and my ears are mostly okay. One of my lobe piercings is being a bitch, and I can't stretch it again quite yet. The anti-symmetry makes me sad. I might just let that one close up, since it's got a big ugly bump on it. It doesn't match my other ear anyway.

I stepped on a sewing needle that was lying around, and it seems to have done really horrible things to my big toe. For instance, my toe now looks like a horribly overfed caterpillar. And I walk like an idiot. And I get to go to the doctor tomorrow. D:

And if this doesn't heal up fast, I can't go trick-or-treating. For the first time ever, I would have to sit around and hand out candy, instead of getting it from other people. This sucks. D:

I got it done at Anomaly in Pasadena, which I highly recommend. They were really awesome about everything, and they even fixed up my nose piercing for me. Steve was so much nicer than the guys at Laughing Buddha, and everything went perfectly. It also helped that this one hurt a lot less than my nose. And they have photography magazines in their waiting room. And they have a song and dance about their autoclave. It was amazing. xD

And everyone was staring at me on the bus. No one wanted to sit next to me, which was also great. For some reason, when I was going to Pasadena, the bus had 50 people on it. I counted. On the way back, there were 8. I guess everyone likes Pasadena more than Claremont.


And and and I went shopping at Aardvarks, which was hilarious beyond belief. They have an entire room devoted to mens clothes from the 70s, and a room labeled "Robes Petticoats Kimonos". It actually had a lot of petticoats and kimonos, and not too many robes. Go weird thrift stores. xD

I'm all done with my finals, so I've got some sewing to do. My new machine is the sex, even though it says "Made in Western Germany" on the side. xD I finished my yukata dress yesterday, and it's so ridiculously comfy that it feels like I'm wearing a bathrobe. I need to get some good pictures. I've also got a pair of pants that needs a couple seams, and they'll be done. They're this fantastic brown and gold courderoy, and they're the same shape as my pirate pants. Mega awesome.


STUFF I WANT TO DO:
Elegant Gothic Lolita outfit for AX -- this is a maybe. Nick wanted to go with me, but I'm not sure if I can do everything for both our outfits and not rip my hair out from the cheapness. I'd love to get a skirt and a cut-sew done, at least. Lol alice in wonderland pattern.

Steampunk outfit -- this is a definite yes as soon as I find the right fabric. The gypsy costumes that Simplicity makes would look fantastic in coal and brass. Oooh, so shiny. :3

Halloween Costume -- If I get the steampunk outfit to work out, I can use that. I kinda want a full body godzilla costume, though. Footie pajamas for the win.
No idea where I'll get a pattern for that.

Finish my set of synthetic dreads: I've got 4 orange ones done so far, and I've got 3 more packages of hair to go through. They're so much fun to wear. xD

Get better at DDR: I can play a 6 foot difficult on Nick's 360 now. I want to be able to do expert by the start of next year.

Get a Wii: For above mentioned DDR, and for the cooking game. That looks like so much fun.

Get a proper corset: jupitermoon3 sells fantastic looking ones for super cheap (for a corset anyway. ). I'd like a brown one to match my steampunk outfit, and a brocade one just to look fancy.

More Mods! I've got three new holes in my ears, and I'm thinking about a nostril and a vert labret. Or two or three. I can't kiss anyone with healing lip piercings, though, so I'd have to go into solitary confinement or something to keep from getting it infected. And I'd like to get my ears up to a 6 or 4. They're 14 now. I'll get there some day.


Make a costume for AX: I'm gonna be the Weighted Companion Cube from Portal. LOLOLOLOL not a portal geek. I can go around and give people bad advice.
And I'm going to have cake. :3

It means I get to work on computer vision/robotics, and live at Mudd for most of the summer. Dodds is such an amazing prof, I'm just freakishly happy. The current idea for the research is that we'll create a program that interprets someone's movements, so that we can create a semi-game to put in the CS hallway, so that when tourgroups or ITR runs around in the halls, they can play around with it and the CS department will look incredibly neat. I'm so stoked. ;D


Hopefully, I can still make it to AX, maybe not all four days, but at least saturday and sunday. I think there's a way to get to the convention center on the trains, so I wouldn't have to worry about staying the night. I ought to get working on my costumes.



Depending on how much free time I'll have besides programming, I want to get a replacement for my sewing machine. Mine broke, and they don't make the parts for it anymore. I also want another pair of pirate pants. There's a furniture fabric store here that sells fabric for dirt cheap, and some of it actually looks like it might make neat clothing.



I'm so glad it's almost spring break. My brains are beginning to hurt.

Evidently, I look like a lesbian. I got hit on. And I now I have a Penn State Grad student's phone number. She gave me her business card, and she was, like, "The office number on there is actually my cell phone number. You know, if you wanted to call me and hang out." She was really nice, though. I just wish it wasn't so hard to turn awesome people down.
About a third of the people here have a generic lesbian haircut. They're all super people, though. The dance party was awesome, though. There were, like, four guys there. Go "Women in Computing" conference. xD

Mudd is tons of fun, the foam party is this saturday, and so I have to lock up my possessions so that people don't get into it. The foam machine is in my room, so it's gonna be interesting.

I was sitting around in my friend's room all night, watching movies, playing DDR, and just hanging out. We had a really funny discussion about masturbation. It was pretty awesome.


When we left his room, though, we had to walk past two or three parties, and I'm totally blown just on the fumes. It's the worst feeling in the world right now. I feel so scared and hungry, and I have absolutely no reason why. My eyes are bugging out, I can't walk in a straight line, the entire dorm smells like pot, and I'm shivering and sweating at the same time.

I was walking across the grass and it was wet, and it was so scary feeling. I can't breathe properly, and my eyes are tearing up.






Moral: Becky does badly around any kind of drugs. This is very bad, since there's going to be a hell of a lot more parties just like this.
Don't try this at home. D:
Seriously. I'm not making this stuff up. Pot does weird things to you. It's really scary.

My room's pretty nice. The tap water here is pretty bad, but my water filter's taking care of it. I think there'll be enough room for my roomie and I.

This rice is amazing. It's probably one of the tastiest things I've had since I got here.
Kinda sad.


We went on a photo-scavenger hunt tonight. One of the clues was "My hips don't lie".


I can't believe how we did it, but one of the guys put on the petticoat I had for prom, and a stuffed tanktop, and we took the picture with Allison and I being back up dancers and the other two guys holding up money. We won with that picture. >D

There was also the "Getting Friendly with Wally the Wart" where we duct taped a :^D face to one of the warts and the guys all humped it. We're so mature.


I think the nastiest one we took was "It Makes me Angry." We put fake pubic hair on a bar of soap. That was a pretty weird one.

I'm glad I'm having fun. We're hiking up mount baldy tomorrow, and going to Little Tokyo on Tuesday. Hee hee hee. Mitsuwa~!

The beach was really nice today. The water wasn't too cold, but the waves weren't that big so swimming was kind of boring.
Manic Panic has a store in Venice Beach. I went shopping with Bonnie (my air hockey-tacos buddy) and we got a bunch of cool stuff. They had belts for two bucks each, so that was insanely awesome. I got an umbrella too. >w<
They did free eye make-up, and so my eyes are green and blue and pretty now. It looks really awesome with my haircut, but I don't have a camera with me. If I did, I'd probably have pictospammed like crazy by now.
I also got this really neat painting of a guy that looks vaguely like Vincent van Gogh, with a hat that says "I've been stuck in my attic". It's an awesome picture.
There was a boot-leg t-shirt place, so I got a Beatles and a Rolling Stones shirt for ten bucks. It was pretty cool.

I totally can't write in decent sentences right now. It's prolly cause my ankle's bleeding. I'll have to go do something about that. D:

The people here are just amazing. They're the nicest, friendliest, most awesome people I could have ever expected to meet.

We had a whole "Icebreakers" session today, where one of the games was that you had to pick up a paper lunch bag from the ground using just your mouth. Once all four people in the group had picked it up, you cut an inch off and started over. Eventually, you just had a flat piece of paper that you had to pick up.
Heeheehee. There were some major cooties in that game. I was in a group with three guys. Nuff said.


We're going up to Idylwild tomorrow, and staying up there overnight. That ought to be a lot of fun, since we're doing a ropes course and having smores and all that exciting stuff you can do when you camp in the mountains. It also ought to be a lot cooler up there.


I miss all of you! I'm meeting some amazing people up here, but I wish I could see you all again. We have to have a party the friday after thanksgiving. TT3TT



I'll probably have more to say when I get back tomorrow. I'm really enjoying this internet, though. I don't have to wait for youtube to load anymore. :]

How did that happen? I can't believe that middle school is even over, much less high school, and I'm off to live on my own for four years. Well, I can believe that I'm out of my house, now. My family pisses me off so much sometimes. I think I can live without them for a while.
But I won't get to see all my high school friends everyday ,and we won't get to have our retarded sleepovers all the time either.
I have to explain all the dumb jokes I make now. Damn.


On a funnier note, Mudd has "Dry Week" from August 26 to September 8. I had a rather funny email about it a couple days ago.

"Prior to August 26th, a handful of freshman and upperclassmen arrive on campus for the Summer Institute (SI) program. Although Dry Week has not started we ask that those who are on campus refrain from drinking or being intoxicated near the SI students."

The rest of the year is referred to as "Wet Season", because of all the booze available. xDDD

Funnily enough, I got put in the "Jock" dorm, where they throw loud parties and get drunk all the time. Sounds like a plan for me. They also host the "Foam Party" and "Long Tall Glasses". The foam party is where they fill the dorm courtyard with foam, and you dance around in it. >:3 Long Tall Glasses is their formal party, kinda like Winter Formal. The professors even show up to that one, cause it's so cool.

I have to start packing, too. Heehee, lots of work for tomorrow.

They also didn't mention that most of the clothes they're wearing were designed by gay men. Oh, the irony.


They also say that Wikipedia has a liberal bias, and that it's not possible for an encyclopedia to be entirely neutral. It's an encyclopedia for god's sake. It's supposed to be neutral.
They won't let you use BCE (before common era) instead of BC (before christ) just because it "denies the importance of jesus in history." I don't remember what the importance of jesus in history was, other than causing a hell of a lot of wars. D<

If they disagree with you on anything, they just delete what you wrote. Wikipedia at least has a discussion of why it ought to be changed. Bias? I don't think so.

I was all hyped up about the physics test today, and it was fairly easy. Pppbbbthh.

Seriously. I couldn't do any of the problems in their practice tests, but the ones on the actual test made a heck of a lot more sense than theirs did.
I'm glad I studied today, though. I had totally forgotten gravitation, and it was one of the free response questions. I hope the physics B exam didn't have that on there. We did that when I was still working with them, back in october. D:

I'm glad I only have one more test. Econ ought to go just fine, because, judging from the book, I went over everything in lots more detail than an AP class would have.

And Mrs. Short's just mentally deficient. The jacket she said would have worked for the vest was way too short and way too big. 40 inches, my... foot. I'm using a different pattern, one that's supposed to be a hip-length jacket, which of course sits four inches above my hips. It's the right length for Riku, anyways. Everything else should be pretty easy, just not the shoes. I dunno where I'm going to find shoes that even have that shape. Maybe the Dr. Corbett store will have some. They seem to have everything else, including Kwanzaa dresses. That terrible dress is now becoming a rather fancy pair of pants. Quite comfy too. :3

I got to play ITR with a bunch of crazy guys early this morning. Running around the Mudd basement with duct tape "daggers" poking each other at two in the morning is a hell of a lot more fun than it sounds, and it sounds pretty damn funny. Aaaaand, the guys that come and play from the other schools are a lot more attractive than the ones from Mudd. *squee* They're all really nice, though. And smart. >w<

Anyways, I went to the Getty yesterday. It was fun. I'm going to talk in ridiculously short sentences now. They had an exhibit with "Art:Anti-Art:Non-Art" which was art from Post-War Japan. And no, I won't explain it. The Getty's got a fairly decent website on it. [link] A lot of it was quite entertaining. I really liked the Spice Chess and the Finger Boxes, but you'd have to go check out the museum to see what I'm talking about. ;D

I'm up at Mudd tomorrow and Monday, which should be fun. Staying in their crappy dorms! Sharing a bathroom with 30 other people! I can't wait.
