The work is coming along slowly and steadily, but... I feel that at some point I'm forced to take a break from everything else... and I do mean everything. Art, chatting, completely all... all, even my free time, just to hopefully finish this final work of mine in time.

There's a lot of mistakes in my first versions that I can't even begin to count. On the other hand I haven't been drawing a lot of manga at all, especially recently. I'm not a master of the style in other words. This could very well mean, that I can't create an OC in manga style before I have good enough skills to do so.

Too bad.

UPDATE: Okay, I'm now creating a background story for my OC, but I still don't have a name for her (yes, my OC is a she). So I'm asking you for help in inventing a name for my furry little OC. Any good ones come to mind?

What's actually amazing is that the modem itself survived the storm and is totally fine, even though the whole computer fried up. So my wireless connection is also fine.

That's the reason why I haven't been online recently and I also don't know when the problem can be fixed so I can't say when I'll come back

UPDATE: Okay, today, the new power source was installed, but now we've discovered that my display card is broken + the display cards place is broken... which means the whole motherboard is forced to change... which means almost the whole computer is forced to renew... about 600 € job. Nice. As if I already didn't feel guilty enough. The only things that I can keep are the new power source and two hard drives (two others are forced to take out because of the wiring problem). The new computer makes the old one look like scrapheep though.

DDR3 - RAMs
I think there're other parts too, but those are the main ones. Too bad, though. The old ones were all okay.

2nd update: Oh man... this has to be the first one to ever happen. I've got the new computer, but guess what I find out? ... All of my hard drives are broken. ALL OF THEM. That wasn't the worst thing though. My dad thought at first that my Windows was at one of the old ones even though I swore that it was on the biggest hard drive. Since the Windows didn't start, my dad began to yell at me, thinking the Windows wasn't at any of the current hard drives. Things changed when we tried to re-install Windows. We then knew the truth. The computer couldn't find any of the drives.

So in short, my computer's still broken despite the new parts. it actually seems like the whole computer got spiked even though the lightning was 10 seconds away. That has to be unheard of. A new hard drive is coming and should arrive by tomorrow evening. If I'm lucky, I'll be back in business then. Now I actually fear that my wireless Internet connection blew up too during that storm, but we'll see.

That's not all, though. My dad was shocked to find out that my RAM memory was only 512 Mb in total even though I had 2 chips in place and wondered how in the world had my computer managed to run fine this far. I wasn't surprised because I knew those chips were never replaced. They came from my original computer. Anyhow, my dad went and bought a 1 Gb chip that fitted for my computer (my motherboard is a bit old and supports only DDR chips), so now my computer has 1,5 Gb RAM memory. Also it seems my dad bought a new wireless mouse only because the old one's wheel didn't work properly. A bit of waste of money and 1 USB port IMO.

... I feel so guilty actually. My dad buying an expensive RAM chip and a wireless mouse. My mom buying new flowers for my yard... and both of them buying an extra shelf, wine glasses and a new wide flat HD TV. I feel so guilty because they've bought all that stuff for me. Exactly what have I done to deserve this, besides passing all the school courses so far? Nothing. I can't even be a good host for them and offer a nice bed when they come to my place for a night (I do have an extra bed but apparently it's not comfortable to sleep in) or cook for them. My mom said not so long ago that this is because I have never asked for any money from them or even spent much money for anything extra, because I've saved up most of them. *sighs* I think they have too high hopes for me.

Some months ago, my computer began to act up and wouldn't agree to start up in the first time. Instead I had to restart the computer tens of times before it started up. I immediately thought a virus had breached and invaded the Windows files. However, even after every possible scan, my computer continued to act up. So I thought the virus is either invisible or unknown. I asked my brother about it and he suggested to remove the old Windows and re-install it. I decided to wait till the time was right. I was okay with it as long as the computer worked fine in the end.

It seems, however, that my computer decided when the time was right by itself, because yesterday the Windows didn't start up anymore and when I was about to re-install it, the computer didn't even find any Windows on any drives. So that settled it. The virus had spread and destroyed some main Windows files. I installed the Windows on a different drive just for the time being so that I could get the important files out. Of course this means that I have to re-install everything again... which will take at least 3 days because of my job practise. After that I'll re-install MSN and AIM and Skype and other programs.

So I'll be out of commission for at least 3 days.

... Also I had a close call a few days ago when I suddenly heard rumbling. I thought it was my neighbour remodeling his apartment, but it turned out to be a thundercloud forming right on top of me... and I do mean right on top of me. I made a good sweat when trying to take all the electric stuff off in a hurry. It was a bit scary to see a lightning strike so close to me.

The weather isn't better today either. All the time from yesterday night to this very moment has been a very stormy wind. So strong it almost took my cap away. Also, it's been raining whole day. As if I wasn't depressed enough.

... *sighs* When I look at my "recent" pictures, I've realized I've become too lazy to even draw or even finish any pictures. I don't feel motivated at all. And the two stories I've been trying to write for a long long time (god I hate the timespan between the stories) are getting nowhere fast. I so want to finish them before the summer is over, but again I just don't feel motivated and there's not exactly much time for me to even write them.

The only... no I don't think even this can't be counted as a good side. Just before school ended, I found out that I don't really have any courses during autumn. Nothing... ... except one big job: the thesis. After that is done, I'm done... I'll graduate... I hope. The reason why this isn't good is because it takes just as much time as everything else... if not even more than usual. The picture I drew... the "Prediction"... I'm still on my way to that state. Nothing has changed.

Edit: Today I read the teacher's review about the Flash-project I had to do two months ago and the teacher finally gives an official review. The project in question is named "Puffs In The Park" [link] here in DA. I'll translate review as best as I can quote:

Teacher:
"Hi,
This has required lots of handwork, nicely executed. You can draw well and I think you managed to put some ingredients of drama there too (happiness - threat - battle - happiness). The ending was also great, not just consisting of text, but also some animation."

This cheered me up a little. I have to point out, though, that the teacher in question is not an artist herself... not to my knowledge at least, but she does know a great piece when she sees one. The project wasn't about doing art anyway. It was to see if we could create a flash out of the blue by using everything we learned during the course.

Unfortunately the school still keeps me quite stressed and I'm having the toughest time there... and it won't get easier until the summer. I only have less then a year of this school to bear, anyway, so I guess that's to be expected. Still, this whole thing is making me so tired, that I'm amazed I'm even able to get up early in the morning.

Furthermore, I don't have any inspiration to write any stories... and I hate having a long time period between the stories I've written.

A few weeks ago, I started to learn about flash-animation in a voluntary course and I have done quite nice animations. Now here's the thing: Everyone in class had to choose what kind of animation would they do as a final work for the course (it was a free choice). Guess what I chose.

That's right! I chose to do a short PPG-animation with an actual story (about 30-60 seconds long). I have already created a script (although I don't think I'll follow it accurately), so all there is to do now is to draw and animate the whole thing and I'm already at a good start. ... I should be, since I don't have much time to do the whole thing. It has to be finished before December 16th.

When the whole thing is over, I'll submit the whole thing here. I'm a little nervous how this whole thing will be like when it's finished. Just so that you won't be disappointed, I'll say this: Don't expect much from this flash.

Also, because of this project, the requests I have received so far will be delayed, unfortunately. I'll still try to do them as soon as possible so that I won't forget them.

So what is the matter? The matter is that every first-timer that sees one of my pictures at the front page of dA, clicks it and then immediately presumes and comments, that I drew it in MS Paint. Every friend of mine knows that I use Paint Shop Pro 9, not Ms Paint. So why? Why are people saying I use MS Paint??? Is my style so low that even though I draw pictures in PSP9, it'll come out like it was done in MS Paint?

I guess people will keep thinking that I use MS Paint, unless I mention the truth in the comments or put some sparkly effects on my pictures. I'm just tired of this presumption. All I ask is that people investigate further before saying anything. If I use MS Paint, I'll mention it in my dA page.

It hasn't been that long since another school shooting occurred, this time in a place called Kauhajoki. 20 died in that shooting, mainly women, and including the shooter. Over 200 rounds were shot. Like with Jokela incident, the shooter left a video the day before the shooting, saying exactly what, when and how he was gonna do the whole thing. The video was reported to the police, but they did nothing. They even didn't confiscate the pistol the shooter possessed.

But yesterday... yesterday a terror rose up in me. On Tuesday morning, someone noticed a threat message at one of our school building's bathrooms. It threatened that on October 1st students and teachers will be in danger. I don't know exactly what the message said but that's the way the police said it on the radio when I heard about it the first time on Tuesday evening. Despite the threat the teachers didn't intend to close the school for the Wednesday. My parents and even my big brother heard the news and called me right away and asked me to stay away from the school the whole day. I did go there, despite all the warnings. My class was very nearby, at the very next building actually.

This time the police was guarding the area, especially the building where the message was found. They thought the message most likely held a contact with Jokela and Kauhajoki shootings. They also thought it was a bomb threat. A bomb! However, nothing happened. Either the threatener got too scared, is plotting to strike at another day or the threat was nothing but a sick joke OR... he/she got caught. I hope it's the last one, because I sure like to see those kinds behind the bars rather than causing trouble, making others panic and killing people. If it was a joke, then there's a nice fine waiting for the writer... in the area of tens of thousands of euros.

I was actually a bit scared when I heard the news about the threat message. And yet... yet I just marched to school, knowing that anything might happen there. In fact, I think everyone was in school despite the fact that they heard about the message left in the bathroom. It seems there's a big problem rising here in Finland and that's terror in schools.

This week I started to learn Japanese and its culture in folk high school and man it's one of the rarest courses I actually enjoy taking. This would be the 6th language I'm learning.

In other news... I'm quite stressed. I have hundreds of things to take care of and it feels like none of them are taken care of. My future is getting grimmer and grimmer by the day because after this year's November... my study grants will be pulled out since the maximum time is then. Unless that is fixed somehow... there's a chance I'll be forced to drop out and get a job... or worse, go both school and get a job. I could never survive that. Either way, I'm facing a tough situation, since I still have about 1½ year left in school. Also, my parents and even my big brother are suggesting I'd start doing the final work, the thesis, so that all that would be left is those 3 months in practical training during next summer. As if I had time to worry about that. It doesn't even matter.

It will take a miracle for me to survive this school year. It's only been a week and already I'm so tired I feel I just can't do anything.

I'm sorry. This whole thing just gives me such a huge amount of stress, a record no doubt, that it's already a miracle I'm still alive.

All he really had done was change the iris and costume color, the hair and the place where "Objection!" is written.

I don't know if he has broken any rules by doing this and I don't know if I should be flattered, because he used one of my pictures as a base, or angry, because he really didn't do anything else, but change some details from the original drawing. He does mention me on Bubbles' drawing and that he got the idea from my drawing.

UPDATE: Well he has now deleted those two pictures as I asked him to so I won't report him.

In other news, the ending of the comic is so near now... in fact, only three panels remain to be drawn. Three hard panels, that is. I don't seem to have as much time as I had last year. The work I'm doing is tiring me out... in much worse way than school. The school at least had breaks, but at jobs you don't really have any breaks at all. Just a long job shift. Oh well... at least it isn't so hard of a job... yet.

UPDATE: After 3 years and over 5 months, the comic is finally finished.

There's still two things to do for this comic, though:
1. To rename all the pages I've drawn for this comic as page numbers instead of normal names (helps to keep the pages in order in case someone wants to download them.)(DONE!)
2. To think up a good name for the comic. (I already may have thought up one. You can see that name on the first "pages" of this comic.) (DONE!)

Last update: I have named the comic as "Death's Sidekick" and made a folder for it in my DA page and i have also renamed all the pages the comic has. Also, as it eventually turned out, the comic is 75 pages long. Pages 1-49(panel 5), are written and pages 49(panel 6)-75 are drawn.

1. Right before school ended, one course thought it was a good idea to give another important assignment, that I must return before this month ends. A big one at that. Thanks to that I can't hold my promise to finish up the end of the comic.

2. Almost everyone else will have a three month vacation. Not me, though, because this summer I have to do practical training for two months. Doing 8 hour long job shifts is not what I'd call a summer vacation. I don't really have any choice in the matter anymore, though. The contracts have already been made and it is important that I do this. ... But because of it, I'll only have a month long summer vacation in the end... I guess I shouldn't complain, because next year's going to be worse. Why? Because then I have to do a three month long practical training, meaning I won't have any summer vacation whatsoever next year. The things I have to do just to get a degree in school... and to get a job.

It's never a straight road, is it? The road to the life you desire. The road to your dream(s). I wonder why... why have we humans made the roads with so many turns and obstacles just so we can live in the community?

Sorry, but I just can't understand why the heck am I going through this? Why the heck HAVE I gone through this school thing?

... ... I apologize my rambling. I guess this practical training, that starts next week's Monday, is just making me sad.

Now to other things. Two months ago I started a contest [link] The contest is over now and even though were some who said they were taking part, no entries were submitted and therefore this contest is a failure. To those who wanted to try and take part in this contest, I understand if you were too busy or if something made you forget. So it's okay even if the contest was a failure. To tell you the truth, I didn't expect anything out of this contest. The fact that at least two people were interested in it is an achievement in itself. But if you want me to continue the contest, I'll consider a new time limit then. In other words you can still save this contest, if you want to.

Now the final thing. You know I've been drawing character pictures, don't you? Well, right now I can't decide who to draw. Could you be kind enough to suggest who should I draw next?

I think she'll soon say the same thing about the other drawings.

Now here's the thing: She most probably owns the same instructions book as I do about chibis and furries. That's why she accuses me of theft, because those pictures look exactly like the models in the book. Most of my manga pictures do look like the models in their respective books. That's because I can't draw a completely original character out of the blue so I try to get the feeling on how to draw the characters in hopes that someday I'll create original characters of my own.

Now here's what I think: I don't think it's stealing even though you draw a character that looks like the model in the book. Especially if you just follow the instructions the book gives you and the pictures it shows. In my opinion, the accusation WOULD be true if I had scanned the finished pictures from the book, submitted them here and then said that I drew them. THAT'S THEFT. But I and my mother drew the pictures ourselves so that's why I say we didn't steal anything.

Now I ask you: Is it wrong to draw a character that looks exactly like a model in a book? Have I really stole the pictures? Is there any true to the accusations?

If I really have committed a theft here... then it's a matter of time when the DA will close my account.

Well I've been drawing (or at least submitting) quite a few pictures now. I've submitted chibi pictures here and I've also drawn PPG characters after a long time. The comic... well the comic is indirectly continuing. I just thought you would like to know where it all started from so I've began to WRITE the comic's beginning (as you who watch me have probably noticed it by now). Though I'm beginning to think I only have one reader. Oh well... even if it's just one, I WILL finish the comic.

I still haven't drawn any character pictures though. I'll make the list of characters this weekend and try to sketch them as soon as I can. Maybe I'll even make the list on my next journal. I don't know.

Now that that's said, let's move on to the main event.

It must be the time of Armageddon. I'm going to hold a contest. The rules are simple.
Every Powerpuff Girls- and Rowdyruff Boys-fan knows there are a lot of original characters created by many fan artists. But there's a common thing they're all missing: a base.
So what do I have to do? Draw a base where all the Powerpuff Girls and Rowdyruff Boys can unite.
What kind of base can I draw? Any kind. It can be a secret base, a public base, an underground base etc. etc. You get the idea. Use your imagination.
Only one base? You can draw two bases if you want to (one for the girls, one for the boys or something like that).
What do I do when I'm done? If you're on my watchlist, you can just submit it as "For Timo's contest". But if you're not on my watchlist, you have to submit it and then send a note for me.
How much time do I have? The contest begins in February 18th 2008 and will end either on April 3rd 2008 or April 18th 2008 (depending on how many will take part in this and how often the entries come up).

2. I haven't done character pictures for a long time. My last picture, the picture about Aamu, is already quite old. I should so a list and check what characters have I done and what characters need to be redrawn (like Bubbles).

3. I haven't submitted any chibi or manga styled picture for a long time and I have drawn some chibis for God's sake. I should scan them, draw them and submit them as soon as possible before I forget they exist.

4. ... ... The last thing is the comic. It's not proceeding at all. It's at full stop. How long has it been since I submitted the latest page? Far too long. One might think the comic won't continue anymore. It is not true. I WILL give it a proper ending it deserves no matter how long it takes... ... and how crappy it might become. A new cell phone, a coffee maker... and a new car. My old car has started to get rusty here and there. And so my dad suddenly finds a nice car at a... well, kinda at cheap price. A Toyota Avensis, year 2000, and it's at my disposal. Kinda big difference between that and my Nissan Sunny -90 so it requires a little time to get used to.

Well, the school starts soon. I must welcome the "Hell" again and go through these pains and sufferings which I know I will have a lot this year. My only hope is that I won't go crazy.

I heard this just now from my mother and then watched it from the news. An 18-year-old boy student had started shooting with a handgun at his high school towards others. As a result, 8 people are dead. The school's principle (who was a woman), 5 boys and two girls.

The police were alerted by one of the students at 11.44 am. The shooter was walking in the hallways in all 3 floors, spilling fuel oil all over the floors and walls. Apparently he tried to burn the school in the process. Many students escaped through the windows or hid in the classrooms. He even shot towards a police officer (who didn't get hurt), refusing to surrender.

In the end, the police made an assault inside. They found the shooter in a bathroom, seriously wounded and unconcious. Apparently he had shot himself in the head. He had shot 69 times in all and he had 320 rounds. The shooter died later in a hospital. His motives are unclear because the victims didn't seem to have any connection to the shooter.

There's more: Apparently the shooter had planned this beforehand. He had made a video of which he uploaded in YouTube by the name "Jokela High School Massacre -11/7/2007" the day before the tragedy. Only one man saw the video, but didn't do anything about it.

To think I didn't know anything about this. Not even the teachers at school didn't mention anything about this (although we did have only one teacher's classes). The only thing that made me suspect something was that everyone had put the Finnish flags half-way of the flagpole. That could only mean one thing: The whole country or city is mourning for something (in this case, the whole country). And today the whole country held a silent moment.

I'm actually so ashamed of myself for not following the news at all. So many victims... the shooter was the eldest son of his family and the whole family will suffer for the rest of their lives. Not to mention the families of the victims.

I thought of it as strange because I don't remember doing anything like that even though I have had a meeting before and the name of the street was different. So today I called the guy who sent the e-mail and you'll never guess what I found out: THERE'S SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS EXACT SAME NAME AS I DO (apart from my middle name). Not only that, but he uses the same e-mail server as I do, which means he has the same e-mail address as I do.

This other me lives in Karkkila, which is in South Finland, about 650 km from my position. I was lucky to get this straight or else both me and this other me might have been trouble.

In other words this was all a very big and (almost) serious mistake.

EDIT: Okay, things got more clear... and amazingly coincidental. It seems this Timo is actually my little cousin. But his last name is written Vikström, not Wikström. So the reason why that e-mail came to me is because the sender misunderstood the name (and apparently so did I). It's understandable actually. The way we pronounce V and W are almost the same so it's easy to misunderstand when it comes to names.

You know I've been practising on doing manga characters and stuff. Well, I wanted to do something different than just a normal character. So I took out another instructions book on how to draw (manga) chibis and furries. I'm gonna draw some chibi pictures so expect them soon. Oh and I'm not gonna abandon on drawing normal manga characters. I'll still practise on doing them too.

That still doesn't mean I've gotten an inspiration. ... I just can't seem to have any good ideas that I can draw.

I received very sad news today from my mom. Rekku, a 12½ year old bearded collie, was put to sleep yesterday by a vet from Ylitornio. According to my mom, his condition had gotten worse and worse by day. In the end, he couldn't move or stand up no matter how much he was been helped. Now he's having an eternal sleep in the grave that was dug in our yard at the beginning of the summer.

My dad is so devastated and even my mom feels bad for this.

... Rekku's life began in Pori, a city in southern Finland. We named him Rekku, because that was the Finnish name for the dog from Dennis the Menace. And he really lived up to that name. Already when he was just a puppy, he started to bite shoes and carry them around. I guess that's how he learned to take things he shouldn't just so he could have a tasty treat. He was such a rascal all the way and he never changed... until the end.

I've always felt bad for Rekku, especially when he was kicked (even by me). I once hit him on the head with my toy shotgun multiple times, because he was biting an important thing for me. I just managed to break the shotgun, but I'm sure he felt much pain too. That's what he was good at: never letting go of his prey unless he was given a treat. I guess Rekku's life wasn't so good and that's what's making me feel so bad. He could have lived a better life if only he would have been more kinder to other dogs, left the bypassing cars alone and always following commands when they were given (he never really obeyed me).

So...

This week, he has still had some seizures, mostly bad ones. My father and the vet are suspecting Rekku either has a tumor in his brain (if so, it is too late to operate him... actually we can't even operate him even if we could) or he has a meningitis. For now it seems Rekku has a meningitis. Yesterday and today he hasn't had any seizures (none bad ones at least), so it seems he's going to be fine after all.

It's still too early to be relieved. He is, after all, still taking his medicine. Next week will determine if he really is okay.

The comic has been on full stop far too long, ever since I was trying to move into my new apartment. I'd like to continue it, but... *sighs* it isn't that easy. Since the comic requires great skill and scenes that I have never done before, it's way too hard for me especially when I'm doing it without any sketch lines. It's a shame really. The comic is near it's end too. I so wish to end it rather than giving up on it. I just can't draw the next scenes.

The school has given me hard time, though, right from the start. My class is doing a major project. Yesterday was quite tiring since my mom and dad came and wanted to put things in place since the renovation was assumed to be completed. The good news is that we got many things fixed and put to place and the apartment now seems to be something worth watching for. The living room, the bedroom and... well, kitchen too, although that room is still quite messy. But man... it was hard work. My mom got an aching knee from a small sharp floor plate part while cleaning the floor.

My computer is not yet connected, so I'm not sure if the Internet connection is gonna work there. My dad put the ADSL and a modem with a place for 4 computers in place and said that connection is not gonna work since there's supposed to be three lights on in the modem even if the computer or A-Link (I have a wireless connection) wouldn't be on. I wonder, though, if that's true. We'll see it when my computer will be put together.

So things are looking bright now. If all goes well, it's highly possible that I'll move to my apartment in a week or two. I hope I'll be then be able to draw again. I should also be trying to write some stories too and try to continue the comic. It's been so long that everyone must be losing interest. I hope I'll be back in business soon.

Also, it seems my computer is in a bad shape. A virus has infected my C drive and therefore I can't install ADSL drives (which is required if I want to have an Internet at my apartment) to my computer. It is possible that my computer has to be totally restarted (which I've heard is quite a thing to do). Well, it can't be helped. I just hope my computer will be ready at the same time when I move to my apartment (which will happen in a week or two, if nothing else goes wrong).

It's too late to back off, but... I've started to regret I even thought about moving out. All I managed to do was to make my family suffer yet again. It seems I always make the wrong choices.

Furthermore, it seems I've already broken my New Year's Resolution. Doesn't matter anymore, though. I already knew this year would be much tougher for me than the last year. All I can do is just go through and bare it. I just wish those workers get their job done ASAP.

But... I actually fear how the move will go. Last time, when I moved to my current apartment, it didn't go so well. Lots of yelling and cursing. There are many heavy stuff to move. I do remember my dad mentioning his back hurt during that move, because he had lifted so many heavy objects.

I can only hope, that this time it will go at least a little better.

I PASSED THE ENTRANCE EXAM!

Oh right, I didn't mention you all, that I still had a third chance to get to Tornio. It was a one of a kind chance. In it the school creates another group that begins to study in their school in January. Of course I attended it. Imagine my shock when I found out that there were 42 other students that wanted to get to that school. I thought I didn't have a chance. The test was also totally different from the previous ones. Surprisingly I was placed number 15 of all the participants.

I FINALLY DID IT, YOU ALL! I DID IT!!

Finally the future is brightening up. I'll start the school in January 8th.

So I guess I have to continue at my current school and... pay dearly. All my supports will be taken off and I am forced to pay back. That I am sure of. I guess I'll just live this punishment through and live poorly after the school. Getting a job might help, but right now that too is a bad idea. I won't have any time for any job. When the school starts at September 5th, I'm gonna be so busy that even bees can't keep up with me.

Now, though, there's still a very slim chance to get in. There's another entry exam coming around next week, but unlike previous test, the results of this test will only take place if some students do not come to the school. You could say this test sort of fills the empty spots. That's why it's a very slim chance.
