I've been studying Japanese for a while now and I've read the Pokemon X and Y names and I figured, that the Symbols in Japanese is actually different then they say the symbols means....

Also I saw that the names are written in one of their alphabets, Katakana.

Oh yeah, uhm they have 3 alphabets 'Hiragana, 'Katakana' and 'Kanji.

examples of the alphabets I use the letter A to express the differences (Not with Kanji, that are complete words kay)
Hiragana A = あ
Katakana A = ア
Kanji can't use a fowel but a word like 'Water' that is this symbol '水'
