I've noticed that deviantArt is something of a popularity contest. I favourite pieces of art because I genuinely think they are good. I take the time to look at these pieces of art because they can look differently to the thumbnails in the browsing section.

Sometimes, I notice that my work is favourited by people without them actually looking at the full picture. I don't wish to sound harsh, but if you're just favouriting my work to bump up your daily views then please don't bother.

I know that dA says that in order to be noticed you have to favourite favourite favourite and I know we'd all like to be noticed. But is it so hard to look at the work before you favourite? Sometimes you see a thumb nail and think "that looks cool", but then you click on the piece and it doesn't look as good as you thought it did.

Similarly I don't want to be randomly messaged "Hi check out my gallery. kthnxbai."

So, if you favourite my stuff to get more page views I won't favourite back. If I get "Hi check out my gallury kthnxbai" . I won't appreciate it and I won't look at your gallery. It doesn't help me better myself as an artist and it makes you look like a desperate idiot.

I don't get how you can think you're a good artist if you draw on lined paper. Sure, you may get 89 favourites and sixty comments "omgzzz you're such a good artist" but in the grand scheme of things these people are just doing what you do. Trying to get popular. They won't be able to give critiques and comments that can help become a better artist and honestly I believe lined paper drawings belong in your scrapbook. Please use it.

Now I'm not a great photographer, but I enjoy seeing that I am getting better. I'm not bitter that you get so many more comments than I, I'm just stating that I want no part in this popularity contest. Your comments and faves are no real testament to your skills if you go round begging for them in the first place. I think that "what you reap is what you sow" here and I want to reap constructive comments.

If you have a genuine interest in my art and want to support me, I cannot thank you enough it means a lot to me even just a fave means a lot. I can distinguish between a comment "whore" and someone genuinely interested in my progression.

I just wish people would take more time out to look at the picture instead of favouriting a thumbnail. Rant over

Also, I'd like to add that if I favourite a piece of your work, in no means should you feel obligated to favourite back.

Here are some people I think are truly great artists or have the potential to be a great artist

~sorrowlady
=Str8UpSkills
=Red-Camera
~crashintoyou-x
~Physalyidae
~Pandyp
~hopeful-despair
~PirateNeilsouth
Who is a master of HDR and his gallery is filled with breathtaking photos

and my personal favourite
`scottjamesprebble who offers a story in each of his shots

New to the list is ~friskypigeon not only is he a super nice guy, who takes the time out to write to you but is a very underrated deviantArtist. His gallery offers a wide range of subjects all of which are pleasing on the eye. Before you ask, I'm not whoring any of them out.

For each of the first 14 people answering this journal I will put his or her avatar and the three deviations I like most from his or her gallery on the list.

3. For privacy reasons which I can't really go into I didn't end up doing my friend's wedding photography which I was bummed out about because I was really looking forward to it. Anyway. I've finished uni for good now. I graduated two weeks ago with a 2:2 and I am ecstactic about as I thought I'd failed. My dogs still doing great as you can see. He's 11 months old now.

I've also decided to embrace Corel Paint shop Pro. My husband bought it me as a gift to encourage me to make my photo's that little bit better. So while I'm waiting for employment I'm going to work on a few photos a day and make my gallery better. I'm taking photos of everything and anything these days. I definately think my skills are getting better as I'm getting a lot more favourites from other artists. It's really wonderful and helps me a lot. So thanks to everyone who's liked my work so far!

I did try and persuade her to go with a professional but it's not in her interests so I'm doing it. I'm well aware she could hate me forever.

So! Need to get lots of practicing before the big day. I also fancy removing loads of photos from here. Start a fresh. Y'know?

update

Hey everyone what a mad few months it's been. I now have more time to dedicate to photography so I'll be around more. Even got a few self portraits up.

Some sad news, I had to let my White German Shepherd go. Upsettingly we couldn't trust his unpredictable behaivour but happy to say that he's living with a German Shepherd Handler (similar to that of like Cesar Millan's pack).

We have now brought a new puppy into our home, Millaner's Arimis, or Shadow as we call him and are enjoying giving him plenty socialisation. We had our first dog show last week. We won best puppy! Chuffed about that because it's the category we were striving to win and it underpins his future potential as a show and stud dog.

I now have a brilliant professional photo editing suite. I know, I know, I do prefer untouched photography but my work lately has lost it's mojo. So I'm super excited that I can learn to work with an editing suite and produce better pictures.

I'm also moving a lot of my work into my scrap folder. I've found that as my skills become more advanced I need to create space for better photos.

Lastly. I might add that I am looking for dreadhead models in my area to photograph. I'm looking to do my work in town centres. If you're up for it give me a shout

update

I have been online very much in the past couple of months and I haven't done much work photography wise. I'm disapointed with myself but I've had a lot of commitments at home.

Firstly I've been very much pre occupied with my new dog, he hasn't had much training and he's going through a funny "teenage" phase where he's scared of everything so I've been out in all possible scenarios with him.

Secondly I've been bogged down with my uni placement. I absolutely love it. Seriously thankyou to Chris who's given me this great opportunity.

Saying all that. I have my first photography job for a well known english cancer charity this week something which I'm super excited about as my cousin died from prostate cancer aged 25 in 2004 and I'm very happy that I can help out in whatever ways I can. I'll be posting some of the photos on here so keep an eye out!

Sorry I've not really been in touch with those who I regularly chatted to on my friends list on Deviantart either, So I will be in touch soon or incase I forget drop me a line.

Well that sums up what I've been upto recently. Looking forward to being more active.

Keep it real
*TokyoButterfly*

Well thats a summary of why I've disappeared but
