I'd like to just take a moment to reassure you all that we are aware of this issue and have determined that it's likely caused by a programing glitch and not a result of malware infected adverts or anything of the sort. The problem is known and they are working to repair it as quickly as possible. It should be fixed in the next day or two. How many of you remember the vertical slice of Aliens: Colonial Marines that demo'd gorgeously but then ended up looking so crappy when it was finally released, that people sued them? Well... Microsoft's bad press just continues to roll in. Recently photos have emerged of a technician installing the XBOne stations and clear as day they were running on Windows 7 machines (Yup.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Much like the pin-up series I showcased last week, this was a little thought experiment I did during the 6 months I was absent. I was having a very hard time motivating myself to draw anything and this was something I tried to do for myself as a therapeutic exercise.<br /><br />One of the things that was tricky to deal with was the awkward hands. The Rankin Bass cartoon has very stylized grizzly hands which are drawn entirely counterintuitive to how I would naturally draw them. I frequently looked for specific hand gestures from the cartoon and used those to help draw them here. I don't mean to keep wading deeper into all this, but one question begs another and this is something I'm really curious about: What's the difference between objectification... and just being sexy?<br /><br />For me this is a really tough question to answer. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. Case in point: the demo for Etrian Odyssey 4 convinced me to give it a chance and try it, and it's proved to be quite addictive and well worth the risk.<br /><br />In many respects Etrian Odyssey is an old fashioned dungeon crawling adventure. However, a modder by the name of UKAzzer has proved that EA is basically full of shit. UKAzzer discovered that the code which checks for a connection every 20 minutes could be changed to 0, resulting in no checks at all. The verdict? Acceptable. There's really nothing that offensive in the video at all, as it's mostly just a history of the "Damsels in Distress" trope and how it's used in video games. I usually attend this convention every year and I enjoy it a lot. Here's a quick summary of some of the things I'm sick to death of hearing about when it comes to video games.<br /><br />Polygones = Emotion<br />I'm sure you've all seen the jokes, but this one stems from David Cage, who gushed over the tech demo of an old man's face for the PS4, remarking about how the only way to get "true" emotion is by bridging the uncanny valley with high resolution models, hi-def textures, and realistic shaders. New uploads will go to the frontpage (naturally), but from there they will be sorted automatically into the archive. That way if you want to look at only the newest SYAC comics, you can without having it cluttered up by short stories and NSYAC strips. A simple edit, but I think one well worth it.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ I was wrong and Sony pulled a Nintendo to announce the PS4 way earlier than I anticipated. Of course they will have more details at E3, and they didn't reveal too much about the system, but the fact that they announced it this early was definitely a surprise to me.<br /><br />They revealed a number of interesting features about the system which, I must admit, are pretty damn amazing. I love the concept of being able to stream your PS4 games on your VITA from anywhere. That's a system selling concept right there, and it kinda beats Nintendo at the whole "play away from the TV with the Wii U pad" idea. (psst! Nintendo!         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Year of Luigi<br />Nintendo announced recently that Luigi will be getting quite a bit of due attention this year, declaring 2013 to be "the year of Luigi." First he'll be staring in the Luigi's Mansion sequel for the 3DS, then he will be a big component of the next Mario and Luigi RPG on the 3DS. In the RPG game, Mario will enter Luigi's dreams where Luigi can be as awesome, if not better than, his overshadowing brother. Poking and prodding Luigi's face on the touch screen will also alter the dream world, allowing Mario to proceed through obstacles. One false move and you're dead! The goal of a skyblock challenge is to build as much as possible and gather as many resources as you can on such a tiny secluded spot.
