Anywho, the book is called 'The teachings of Don Juan' by Carlos Castaneda.

In short it's first in a series of books about a young journalist who visits a Yaqui indian medicinman, who agrees to teach him the ways of the yaqui medicinman, and how they use entheogens as a part of this.

I read it before already so I know I'll enjoy this book...
