WHUT?!

Wow, fall came and went in the blink of an eye. I was hospitalized again earlier this semester, but I'm recovering. Thankfully my professors were very generous in giving me time to make up my missed assignments. I hope they know I'm eternally grateful <_<;

Next semester I'm taking some classes that will allow a bit more free time; this time will be used to catch up on my gaming habit. My poor systems have been neglected! -wibble- MY POOR BABIES~! ...All I really made an effort to play this semester was the pokeymans. I feel lame. But. I stand by my obsessions. Pokemon foreverrr~~ @_@

I'm getting my 360 for xmas (been babysitting my friend's system, so I've actually been playing it a bit, and now I want my own) lol. Yay for console gaming!

So summer is coming to a close. So sad!

I've been working on some illustration projects and I'll likely be posting them on here at some point (if one of the self portraits turns out alright, I'll likely post it as my new ID).

Aside from that, I'm changing majors this fall. Still an art major, just not going down the illustration track. I'm a little unsure if its the right decision, but since it means less stress for me and more time to draw what I want, sans a million projects, I think it's a healthy decision in the very least. XD

Time to buckle down.

One of my gifts this year was Manga-ka America, a collection of those of us who've made it to the big time. It was extremely inspirational, and I recommend it to anyone aspiring to be a manga-ka. :3

Anyhow, one of my favorite sections out of the book was a Q&A with the artists. I've taken the liberty of using some of the questions asked to have my own little Q&A, to let you guys know a little more about me.

Your art style:
Currently in development. I’ve started drawing everything I see to get more experience, but if I had to describe what little style I have, I’d say I’m fairly sketchy though I strive for clean finals.

Self taught?
No. I learned a lot of my foundation in high school, and I’m currently attending college for Illustration.

Your work process:
With characters, I like to sketch out major shapes first. Blocks and ovals, very lightly. Then I go back in and usually start with the eyes and face before moving to the hair, then the rest of the body. For compositions, I pretty much follow the same technique, sketching out basic shapes, then going in and filling out the details. I still have a lot to learn.

First experience with manga/anime:
Technically it was when I was about 3, I saw this animated movie called Unico about this little chibi unicorn. I had no idea it was anime, though. Then in 4th grade I saw Project A-ko on ‘SciFi Anime Saturday’. I was very obsessed with it, as I had never seen a cartoon with such a serious storyline, however it still made me laugh. After that I would seek out anime in the nooks and crannies of our society (keeping in mind this was before anime became mainstream). I think next was Iria, then Tenchi, then Sailormoon, then Evangelion. After that, they all seem to run together.

Your manga collection:
Roughly over 300 I’d have to guess. Maybe more. I can’t stand starting a series and ending with only 3 or 4 in it, but lately with my lack of money that seems to be my trend.

Suggest a Manga to a newcomer:
Naruto!

Hobbies:
Aside from the arting, I like to role-play, both online and tabletop. I also like to play video games, when time allows.

Gundams or Evas?
Tch…Evas. Like that’s even a question.

Describe a Con experience:
On our way to AZ, we got hopelessly lost. Not only did we have trouble finding our hotel (which was not where the con was held at), but we also had issues finding the actual con, too. For that reason, I no longer trust mapquest.

Goal for the future:
To create a successful and inspiring manga. And hopefully many more after that.
