The admin for ~tucsonART has graciously accepted (shared) responsibility for this club. That's fantastic news, as I think she's done a great job with that group, and I'm sure she'll bring some much-needed life back into this one.

I'd love to see many of the old deviations return to the club's gallery. I'm not sure what the reasoning was for removing them last year, but we can agree that that shouldn't happen again.

Generally speaking, deviations with an identifiable Tucson element are what I'd like to see here, although that doesn't mean other deviations are not welcome. If the art itself doesn't have a Tucson element, then the artist should be either a past or present Tucsonan.

Those are my thoughts, anyway. Ultimately, the direction things go in is up to you.

It's me... the guy who started this little club a few years ago. I haven't been on DA for quite a while, and was a bit sad that the club had died off. There's an obvious interest in having a Tucson club, but it needs at least one, preferably more, dedicated person to keep things running.

At least a couple of people have tried starting alternate clubs, ~TucsonClub and ~tucsonART, and there may be others. I think that's great, although I think it's a shame to have the momentum that started in this club go totally to waste. Hopefully the people running the other clubs will have an interest in combining resources so there can be just one club again. It doesn't have to be this one, but I do think this one has the club name advantage.

I can't be the person to keep the club running - believe me, if it's left in my hands, it'll just die from neglect again - but I'd love to hear suggestions, particularly any on how best to combine the existing clubs into one Super Mega Powerful Undefeatable Club. Or something along those lines...

journal feature: every journal is going to feature a member, for now i decided to introduce our newest member, but from now on its up to you - send a note with title "Journal Feature" suggesting a deviant or a deviation from somebody who is a member of the group (please don't suggest your own).

display your work: i decided to use *Tucson favorites for displaying works of our members regardless of nature of the deviation. for this - send a note titled "Tucson Favorites" and give a link with your best work for it to be in *Tucson 's favorites. this is only one work per member, everybody gets a chance to display their best work.

the gallery: i know there were suggestions to just display best works of tucson artists, but i decided to have extra features instead. The gallery can be any media as long as its tucson/arizona related and is good quality, if you suggest something, please at least make sure that it is a decent size that you don't have to scroll around for full view, make sure its not blurry and doesn't have a lot of noice, a frame is highly recomended. doesn't have to be just photography either.

the pool most of people who voted (thank you very much for responding), voted for weekend afternoon. unfortunatly i'm leaving on this thursday, and it doesn't look like we are going to have one this weekend because

well... its already this weekend

but its ok, i'm sure i'll meet you all at some point or another. That said, i need somebody to valunteer to orgonize the meet. Please send a note and identify yourself

thank you everybody for responding quickly to my journal, its nice to see that people are still watching and paying attention to wahts going on here even though there was no activity for so long.

it looks like its a unanimous decision to change the gallery and set a standard, there were a couple of suggestions regarding what the content of the gallery should be. for right now i don't want to do anything drastical, but still want to know what the majority thinks regarding this. so please let me know if you want to have everything in the gallery mostly about tucson or just any good art from people around this area. basically should it be tucson related or should it just be artists of tucson? plz let me know

since the original founder is long gone and is nowhere to be seen, and all the other "helpers" don't take an initiative, i'm going to change this whole thing around.

i saw a lot of people want to help, that is good, just don't get mad at me, because i dont' feel i have the authority to give out password to this club. maybe it will change, for now though - hang in there, and i'll get back at you as soon as i will have time for it.

here is what i want to do:
1. change the gallery.
- no offense to anybody, but a lot of things there could have been touched up, and some of those things don't even have anything to do with tucson. i guess what i'm saying is - set a standard for submitting things in the gallery, because as of right now most of things that people ask to post are being submited to the gallery. Tuson is a very beautiful city and i want this gallery to represent that.

2. get the community more involved
- i tried starting up a chat and a couple of people came, which is great, but that is not enough, meetings didnt' work out that well, maybe we can have one, but if we do - lets try to make it as soon as we can and no putting off this time, just set a date and show up

here is what i need you all comment on:
*if you agree/disagree with creating a standard for the gallery and making it about tucson/surrounding area and change the quality a little bit

*do we want to meet - if yes give a suggestion

one more thing: if we are going to change this place i'm going to buy a sub, get new helpers and act as an admin since the original one is hybernating

So sometimes I think this entire city of Deviant Artists has been in a sort of sleepy coma.

The shout out boards are nearly dead, the journal entries are dead, and everything else is... dead.

I'd love to push everyone to participate, however asking a collective group of artists to do so seems a little silly to me. I have seen 191 new deviations to the galleries of the members of this group. And to that I say, EXCELLENT job guys! (said in a non-discriminating non-gender biased way of course

)

Maybe it is time to add a few new pieces to the galleries as a collective whole. Instead of the same submissions from the same artists. New flavor, new perspectives, new ideas.

Well, I must admit I haven't been all that active on here either. Well, obviously- I havent made a Tucons journal since January 24th!!

So, this club has been depressingly inactive and that is uncalled for. So if you've got "Tucons" art you want as a deviation for this group, send us a note with the direct note to your devaition. And one of us will get around to subbing it as soon as we are available (or come back from the apperent hiatus).

We still haven't decided on a DEVmeet place. I now command that you Type a place that YOU think we should meet.
Things to take in mind while choosing a devmeet place:
1. The size of the place (look at the members list, then cut it in half the size- i seriosly doub ALL of you are going to come). We need room.
2. Location. We have Vail people to Oro Valley people and everywhere in between. So make it as central as possible
3. Time. Many of us go to school and work, so lets not choose an obsure time like 1pm.

Thats all i can think of right now for that.
I think i'll end up maing a poll with the top 3 or so options.

Anyways. Hope the heat hasn't killed any of ya yet. I just cant wait for summer *dripping with sarcasm*

It's nice to see what you all have to offer to our group, I have already made some submissions to the group by you lovely devaints. Nice work everybody, keep it up. If there is somthing wrong with your art that i have subbed, just let me know and I shall fix it.

I don't know about *omf but I think the easiest way for us to know what pieces you want to be under the *Tucson submissions is for you to send us a note with the link of your deviation. If thats not the way *omf wants it, just let me know.

Now that I've got all that out of the way, what do you groupies think about having another Tucson devmeet? Since hardly anyone showed up at the last one..... Just let us know your thoughts about it.

Well, the election is over, and those of us who cared are either elated or miserably depressed. It's pretty disappointing to see that so few young people (that'd be most of you guys...) turned out to vote - yet again. Since this must've been one of the most important elections in the last few decades, I really can't imagine what it would take to get more people to take a stance. Any thoughts?
