First off this comic is visually stunning with all the colorful characters Andrew Killian and Omi Remalante Jr brought to a comic medium. And I mean this book is packed with characters. It easily tries to cover every ethnicity and power in the spectrum. Each character is easily identifiable in their own uniqueness. I long to get to know them all.

The story in jam packed with information. The clincher "There is an invisible war going on without our knowledge. A battle being waged between our government and an alien empire bent on enslaving our entire species. It is a fight that we are losing and our only hope is a super-human military force known as THE MAJESTIC-XII." barely begins to contain everything in this book. From heroes to villians to a secret war started 60 years ago from outer space, this book contains everything you will find in interesting comics. Justin dives us right in to the action with very little build up before heroes are forced into action. It's a interesting ride from cover to cover.

Sometimes this is to a fault however. To much was put into this one comic. While full of ideas and interesting characters most are not given the relevance they need. And it's hard to with over twenty+ heroes and villains that are in this title. The title has awesome ideas for both it's story and all the characters within, but unfortunately tries to put too much in at once. There is enough material in this one magazine to cover at least a four book arc, if time was taken to explain the importance of everything, not to mention character origins.

MAJESTIC XII has some amazing potential. I can't wait to find out about each hero individually, and get to know the deeper meaning of the root of the story. The only things I truly didn't care for was that too much information without explanation was put into the first issue. That and the fact that every heroine seemed to be overly romantically enthralled with the groups leader Legend without provocation. Otherwise I'm really looking forward to issue #2.

Well I actually got to finally spend a whole year in Hawaii. And let me tell you "It's very nice!" I've seen my first born start his Kindergarten year and my second born continue to overcome her autism by leaps and bounds. I couldn't be prouder of either of 'em.

I worked very hard to see my comic title get off the ground only to watch it crash and burn. My involvement with X-Comikz has taught me a lot of things. Sadly, not all of them good, but lessons I think I needed to learn none the less. I wish I hadn't invested so much money into it, but given the chance to see a dream come true I probably would have done it the same way. What did come out of it was the fact that I got to meet some decent people. One thing John was able to do was bring good people together, even if he in the end disappeared. I'm not done with Comics and Writing by any means. Hopefully I will be able to start again very soon. Turbulence wouldn't go down for the count so easy and neither will aye.

I was able to help a friend who was deployed to the gulf recover from when his house was flooded in Denver. He lost a lot, not as much as some of my friends in the Philippines by far, but I was able to get him set back up again. And for that I'm both grateful and proud. I only wish I could help more people the same way.

One thing that will happen just past my birthday is the birth of my third child. Another strong male heir for the my empire. He seems healthy from what the doctors say, if not a bit skinny. He's due early November, but if we make it past October I'll be surprised. The wifey is ready to go. 2 Boys and a Girl, for those of you keeping count at home. And I love 'em all.

All in all it has been a regular year filled with ups and downs that were normal without to many major spikes in either direction for me and mine. The bills were paid on time, the family was fed and for the most part happy. For me that's a pretty good thing.

Now normally I see people on here ask for art for their birthdays and I'm not opposed to that at all (hint hint nudge nudge) but if you feel like doing something for me this year, here is my Birthday request. Read one of my stories and leave a comment. Tell me what you liked or didn't like. Leave constructive criticism. Something... anything... I'm a writer and well... we like feedback too. So if your so inclined any of those things would be cool. If not that's cool to.

So for those of you who made it this far I wish you all 2 points of good karma for whatever you might need it for. I lift my Miller Light in your general direction in cheers. OR if you prefer a Cider & Black or even a mug of Orion. Thank you Navy for all the drinks I've had around the world. And if any of you are in Cambridge, go down to the Yippee and have some noodles for me.

Well looks like I made it. 36 years old. Took my official PT test the other day fro the Navy. 13 minutes for a mile and a half. I've done better for sure, but I've done far worse, so that's not to bad.

My mom flew in to visit, to get the news that my son may be born early. He's due on 4 Nov, but my wife is 2cm dilated already. So could be any day. Here's to another good year. Cheers everyone!

Thomas Blackthorne has always been healthy. All though his life. It wasn't until he had a very serious fight as a teenager that he had an amazing ability to heal. To say he heals quickly would be an understatement. But this ability allowed him to do sports very easily an so it led to a full scholarship to college. Always the bit of a tinkerer, and followed a career in science and engineering. Finding work shortly after college, Thomas invented a device that was one of the first stepping stone into antimatter technology; the A.R.C. (Active/Reactive Chamber) generator. However the firm that Thomas worked for was in bed with a terrorist organization. Not wanting this technology to fall into the wrong hands Thomas stole it. The Corporation reacted by naming Thomas as a thief and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Now on the lamb, Thomas uses his abilities and devices to stop crime and clear his own name.

He has since used his creative genius to create and arsenal of weapons design to emulate the devastating effects of weather; Tornado Grenades, Lightning Strikes, Fog Generators, etc. Unknown to Thomas is one more latent ability. An immunity to Psionic powers. Telepathy and similar powers don't work around him, as if he also puts out a personal dampening field.

Sadly I've only ever seen one person playing Turbulence, this guy [link] Scary, I know. But if anyone has a good suggestion, I'm more than willing to listen. Think of someone in there late 20's/early 30's who would look good bald in a goatee.

Phade



Samuel Toda joined the United States Navy hoping to be a Navy S.E.A.L.. Coming from a proud Japanese family, failure was not an option. When he failed to make it through BUDS training for medical reason he was given another option. A special test serum was being created to create ultimate soldiers with special abilities. Sam eagerly agreed. As the first test subject he was an immediate success, grafting the powers of Invisibility and the ability to Phase through Solid Objects. He was supposed to be used in covert operations and infiltration. But when they tried to force him on an assassination mission, Sam delved deeper into the origins of this program. While funded by the military, the ultimate purpose was held under a shadow organization. Warning his intended target, Samuel went U/A trying to report what he had found to higher authorities. Labeled as a rogue agent and an assassin, his warnings fell on deaf ears. He tries to find this shadow organization... and end them.

Samuel has the ability to use his powers in conjunction, but is limited in his Phasing ability as he needs to breathe. A special mask apparatus was created to allow him to breathe while phased. Pressurized air canisters provide a feed of oxygen while phased.

Now the process begins of getting the pages inked and color begin. Soon afterward to be followed by speech and thought. But this first step is excellent. In fact, I'm happy to report it is the first of the X-Comikz book to be fully drawn.

Heaping on more good news that I finally have two more of my characters coming into the comic world with the designs of Phade and Siphon. Both of which will hopefully be seen in further issues of the comic.

A Contest

There are a lot of people that have helped bring my first Comic Book Hero to life. Turbulence. The idea for this hero has been in my head for over 15 years, but it is only recently that several artists here on Deviant Art have brought him to life. And to my surprise he seems to quickly becoming a favorite of a lot of people. I've often stated that a hero is actually defined by his weakness. And to this fact I want to thank John Akins a ton. In getting involved with X-Comikz we have had some redesign on my hero. When I had first designed him he was a universal hero on par with Silver Surfer, Spawn, the Spectre, the Living Tribunal, characters of that level of power. In sitting down and really defining him I've learned a ton, about myself and the way I design characters. In his redesign Turbulence has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. His powers are now just his defensive ones; Healing Factor & Psionic Dampening. His offensive abilities are now equipment based around the effects of weather. I actually like this idea, because take away 'those wonderful toys' and he only has his brains to get him out of trouble. And honestly I think that's cool.

I have some other Characters hopefully we will see with X-Comikz soon including Phade and Preacher. With any luck everyone will soon get a look at these hero and villains soon

But What I really gathered you all here for is to pay tribute to the artists which have brought my hero, Turbulence, to life for you.

SPIDERMAN 4

We start with Spiderman on patrol on a summer evening. He is lamenting that even though he and MJ are working things out fine (and maybe slowly) she is away from the city on a modeling gig, since theater didn't work out so well. In the shadows he sees a cat burglar enter a high rise.

*Flash Inside* curves and leather are all you see as this burglar makes her way to a hidden safe. After emptying said safe of it's contents you pull back the camera angle to see the Black Cat all sexy against the back drop of the big city. As she makes her way back out you see Spidey hanging above the now open window. A chase ensues with the regular witty banter but with Peter eventually losing the trail tripping up himself somehow, based on Black Cat's 'bad luck' ability.

Next Day ESU Campus Pete shows up for class only to find a note saying Dr. Connors has cut class. Cut scene to Dr. Connors in a lab working with not only lizard DNA but the piece of Symbiote that he received from Peter in Spiderman 3. For a short scene you seeing science and experiments as it looks like this new serum has the possibility to regrow human tissue. Peter comes in and after a short discussion is ushered out. Dr. Connors than injects himself with the serum. After a harsh reaction he passes out.

Peter is next scene at the Daily Bugle. Now that he has a regular job JJ wants him to attending a charity gala and take pictures. The usual banter about Spiderman ensues between JJ, Robbie, and Peter.

Peter is at the gala taking pictures of all the social lites and takes a picture of a beautiful blonde, Felicia Hardy. he accidentally bumps into her and small talk is made. He explains he could never understand how the rich live like this and she makes offhanded remarks, that maybe they are living to well in a very 'Robin Hood' fashion. His spider sense tingles but nothing happens, but Peter gets overly nervous. Felicia dissapears int the crowd.

Night in the city. You see someone come running out of an alley into a crowd of people. He's babbling scared, and not quite coherent. Just as someone starts to calm this guy down, the Lizard bursts out into the street. He starts attacking people and the cops start shooting scaring him back into the alleyways.

Spiderman is outside the building where the charity event was taking place, unable to let the weird feeling go. He sees the Black Cat zip down on a line, he starts to follow her, again the banter of how nice they could play together ensues, heavy flirting in costume. Just as he's about to apprehend her he hears the gunshots from around the way.

As he turns back she has disappeared, he jets to the sound of gunfire. He sees the police starting to gather looking in the alley. He swings around and finds the Lizard on a roof top. On big slashy battle later and Spidey ends up getting cut and losing the Lizard as well.

Cut Scene a hunting lodge somewhere. A bunch of hunter are all gathered around one very distinct looking gentleman. One of the hunter comments on the exceptional kill the other hunter has had (probably the best time to insert a Bruce Campbell appearance) using only a knife. When on the television at the bar a news report appears about a giant lizard creature roaming the streets of New York with some lousy footage shot from a cell phone camera. The exceptional hunter stands up and leaves abruptly when asked where he's going he simply states 'New York' in his thick accent. One of the other hunter calls after him something like "You can't be serious. Kraven. Kraven, are you serious?!"

Insert obligatory scene with Aunt May here, talk about the distant MJ and how she hasn't called.

Back at the Bugle Peter is handing over pictures of the Lizard, JJ tries to pin recent crime spree on Spiderman and the Lizard. Obligartoey argument between Robbie and JJ. As Peter heads out Betty give him his check. they laugh at how nice it is for him to finally be on staff. (Betty's pretty hehe) Peter than realizes he's late for class.

Back at ESU Dr. Connors wakes, his new arm missing, returning once again to its amputated state. He begins again to tamper with his formula to eradicate the Lizard effect while still growing his arm back. Again Peter stops by to find out if he missed anything in class. Dr. Connors lashes out verbally at him kicking him out. His aggression clearly heightened. Comics expand on that idea. Superpowers galore to fuel young imaginations. Special Individuals that call to us all in one way or another. A universe full of people that in some way call to us. Each with their own dynamic, background, and individuality. No matter if it's a bright white champion or a dark venomous antihero that calls you we all have our favorites.

Here are a couple of mine...

...and why.

Logan aka Wolverine
Let me start with probably the most famous (or infamous) of my favorites. Wolverine is probably the most well known antihero. With and uncontrollable killer rage and heighten senses on top of a healing ability that makes him a a foe that will never stop in a sometimes skewed pursuit of justice... or maybe even redemption. Redemption which can sadly never be achieved because those that could give him that which he seeks most are already gone.

Dick Grayson aka Nightwing
The original Robin, Batman's first sidekick all grown up. I love this guy. All the training of Batman without spiraling down into inner turmoil and darkness that crushes Bruce Wayne's soul. Add to that a great sense of humour and a love triangle between two of DC's comics vixens: Barbara Gordon and Starfire.

Cole Cash aka Grifter
A gifted but brooding soldier taken in by a group of earthbound aliens trying to provide a better safer world for their new home. Grifter was seen as a prodigy among humans and trained in a superior form of alien combat, honing his soldier instinct. Only to discard him when they finally found a way home. Leaving a dark hero to conduct business the only way he knows how... behind a gun.

Mark Shaw aka Manhunter
Coerced by his uncle into an alien cult Mark Shaw became a manhunter. When he finally realized what was going on he betrayed his family and the cult that had trained him becoming a hero. However as a reformed criminal he used his abilities with a mercenary degree becoming a hero for hire. Fighting crime and injustice the best he knew how he eventually became the subject of a government experiment. Now unsure of what was real and what wasn't he still tries to aid in anyway possible. Sadly this was once a character with his own title, and a storyline that was actually semi down to earth (as far as comics go) Two incarnations of Manhunter titles have risen since Mark Shaw carried the titled. Both have had visits from this incredible guy. He may not be the headliner anymore, but he is still the real Manhunter as far as I'm concerned.

Will Payton aka Starman
Will was a drifter that got the brunt end of a secret government experiment killing him. When he rose from the dead he had inherited an amazing fusion like power, as well as flight and minor shape-shifting ability. He used these new abilities the only way he knew how, just by simply helping people. In the end he sacrificed himself against an ancient evil that tore into the dark side of all it inflicted, subduing and greatly weakening the evil power. He returned for a brief spell in the next incantation of the Starman title, his story altered slightly. Now not only was he infused with a government project's secret power, but also had caught the energized spirit of a long thought disposed planet ruler. I thought they definitely got away from the original character by going this route. But when he was just a simple man with extraordinary powers he was the hero we all want to be. You're missed Will.

Ben Riley aka Scarlet Spider
The only good thing to come from a horrible Spiderman storyline. Ben Riley was the original Spiderman clone created by the Jackal. Returning to New York only to see what would also be his relative in the hospital, he took up a heroic mantle to defend innocents from yet another rejected clone that cared about nothing but catching him, Kaine. I love the uniform, and enhancements he created not stuck in the continual rut that Peter Parker found himself in. For a short time he took up the Spiderman mantle, doing it true heroic justice before such a wasteful death as a genetic decay. Ben, you will not be forgotten.

Update... 18 October... One Day Later

So as I sit here drinking my third large glass of water nursing a richly deserved hangover, and fighting I think the onset of a sinus cold, I'm here to let you know all the intrepid details.

First we have to go way back to 16 Oct when my 4 yr old son accidentally ruined the surprise party. My wife had picked up the cake for the party with my son in tow. He was so excited about a birthday that as soon as I walked through the door I didn't even have a chance to get my shoes off whn my son runs up to me and exclains "Dad, we got you an Incrdibles cake!"

My wife stood there mortified. My son was so proud of himself, it was hilarious. And I really didn't think much of it. It was my B-day the next day so the wifey picked up a cake. No big deal. Thenshe turns around, cursing the heavens says "Why do I even bother putting a party together?!"
I was like, "A party?" and with that the cat was out of the bag.

Now I only got a couple presents. I got the Perfect Pushup, and the Perfect Pullup systems. My wife had told people not to bring presents since the party was a little last minute. But a few of my friends were 'F that!' And so I got more work out stuff. My wife's present comes in on the 28th as I get Fallout 3 for the X-box 360. I told her not to get me anything since I am about to invest a lot of money to get a Turbulence comic going through 's X-Comiks. (More to come on taht particular subject later) But she also said 'F that!' So I told just to get me that game when it comes out, and that sated her need for gift giving.

So a bunch of friends come over last night, and through a haze of Miller Lite and Hornsby's Cider the night went off on a bash!

And this morning the wifey even let me sleep in. So all in all not a bad little celebration.

I went over to Iraq, arriving in country the day before my last birthday. Spending 6 months over there, returning to hearth and home only to have to move domiciles just after I got back because of the Navy. But in the long run our new house was nicer.

Then on the first of August I found out I got promoted. So over the past 6 & 1/2 weeks I've been inducted into the greatest fraternity in the world, that of the Chief Petty Officers of the United States Navy. And I can now hold my head up high and be amongst the Chiefs. Reaching this point is a huge accomplishment in any Sailors career.

In all that time I've been a faithful husband and a loving father, my greatest accomplishments personally. Because through all of everything I did this past year I wouldn't have accomplished any of it without their support.

And I definitely want to thank all my friends who have helped me become a better writer, a better friend, and in a lot of ways a better person. Thank you all

Now I have to go buy some more batteries for my son's toys. A job that never seems to end. I'll see you all in October for some cake.

As a father I have tried to maintain the standards of what my children watch. Not surprisingly again and again we watch Disney movies and television at my house quite often. Not only do I broaden my children to your animated tales, both modern and the classics but I also take from you wide range of actual movies as well. Recently I found a copy of a personal favorite of mine now on DVD. The movie, The Black Hole. [link]

This classic was originally released in 1979, I was 6. And now as I sit down to watch it with my own son, who is 4, I watch as it holds the same charisma over him that it did me. Already being a fan of Buzz Lightyear and Wall-E he immediately tuned into the robots, only then to be scooped up by the spaceships and action.

This movie even now, 30 years later, is still incredible. While the special effects are a bit dated, the quality acting from major stars of that time, and an excellent storyline still hold this picture as an excellent watch.

I thought 'If this is still an excellent movie in its current fashion, imagine how good a remake might and could be.' Now on this thought by "remake" all I'm thinking is a slight modernization. With but a few upgrades to the techno-babble, the original dialog could stay. Updating the special effects would be nice with all the nifty stuff movies are capable of today. If done correctly, I think this could be a real winner for both young and old.

Financially you could open a range of toys with all the space ships, robots and action figures, not to mention DVD and Soundtrack sales. These are just a few thoughts for you. I understand that as a business often the $$$ is the bottom line. But I truly believe the market is there for just such a movie.

And another personal thought though if such a consideration is even toyed with I would like to recommend one of the following actors for the role of Captain Dan Holland;
Ben Browder ( [link] ) - Of Farscape and Stargate fame, he would immediately bring in sci-fi fans from to large franchises.
Nathan Fillion ( [link] ) - Of Firefly and Serenity fame. Again another sci-fi common name and an excellent actor. Again already with a loyal following craving to see him take yet another space adventure with Joss Whedon would easily follow him to this movie.
Brandon Fraser ( [link] ) - of The Mummy fame. Another popular franchise and a quality actor. Lately he has taken more of a family movie role and would still fit well with in the role of this character.

For the Role of Dr. Hans Reinhardt I would like to recommend;
Viggo Mortensen ( [link] ) - of The Lord of the Rings fame. This man is such an incredible and diverse actor. I truly think he could take on the genius and madness of this character.

Please take this as food for thought. I will continue to enjoy the feature as it is, but I think this could be another huge success under your belt.

In fact, it can actually be harder. Privateer Press created the Role Playing game of Iron Kingdoms and its sister Wargame of Warmachine over 6 years ago. But don't be fooled, that is actually a short amount of time in the gaming industry.

Privateer Press has been highly successful with these titles. So much so they have been able to expand their wargaming selection with Hordes a sister wargame to Warmachine. They have also released a fun card game Infernal Contraption, a supporting bi-monthly magazine No Quarter, and soon to be released Sci Fi miniatures game Monsterpocaclypse.

Please take a little time to look at the wonderful artists and the unbelievable art. I personally am envious of each one of their talent.

Now I have other things in the works; another chapter to both Hired Help and Deathwalker, as well as working on another larger Fan Fiction work for the Iron Kingdoms. Hopefully these will be as well recieved as this last erotic chapter was. I can hope anyway.

Recently I've thought about nude modeling. As in doing it. Primarily all I see in female models but I know there are a few male models out there in dA land. I by no means am an adonis or anything like that. I'm pretty normal, if not could easily lose some pounds. But the idea stems from if I'd even be used or could be used. The Idea and question of 'If I'm good enough'. Playing with self doubt in a fun way. And yes my wife thinks I'm crazy (I love you, Honey!)

I'm still thinking of holding a contest when I return from my wonderful summer camp experience. Right now the contest idea works like this. Create a piece of work on one of my original characters. Doesn't matter which one, doesn't matter the type of art. And then a open poll voting. Prizes would be dA memberships. But I still have to pass this by the queen of the checkbook (but I have my ways of persuasion with her.)

I hope your life is going well. Help one another out if you can; with a hug or a blank check, but by whatever means you can afford. Suprisingly you wouldn't believe how many would rather write the check over giving the hug.

I won!

I won with a whopping 37% of the votes. You all made that possible. Many of you went well beyond just voting, creating journal entries of your own and asking your friends to support my entry as well. I think this is just smashing. As a writer I get a lot fewer views than the other types of artists on dA. Which in turns equates to a lot less friends who sign up to watch me. But with your help we blew the competition away. Due to the nature of the voting scheme used for the contest the second place winner was a lot closer than you might think due to the double vote count that the judges and contestants got when voting. But still we triumphed! [link]

The trophies of this monumentous victory include a graphic novel, an origami sculpture, candy, and full journal entry from the contest. And here is the cool part, since there are six victors and seven prizes I also get the seventh prize. That is to say I have opted to turn the seventh prize over to for his was the artwork that brought my idea to a visual audience. He will also be receiving one of the listed prizes, an origami piece, and some candy, as well as getting his name plastered up next to mine.

My First round entry is now being considered and I should find out in about a week I figure if I made it to Round Two. My entry was for my super heroine Phaydra, A secret government agent with the abilities of Invisibility and Phasing. Again if it comes to a vote, I will let you all know. But for now I need to make it past round one.

But all this good fortune does come with a price. Karma always sees to that. I have been moved from Balad down to Baghdad. And I will be down here until my time in country comes to an end. And my internet connectiity here is extremely limited, with no ability to upload anything. I'm hoping that this will be the only price Karma has for all the good fortune I've had recently.

And that there is the kicker for me. I feel like the little drummer boy. I'd love to give but I'm neither in a monetary or physical position to give anything. I'd love to donate subscritions or buy commissions and prints from some of my favorite artists. And not everybody can I know this. I've seen a lot of good will and charity all over this board. I've seen people take commissions so that other people could have the money for rent or school tution.

Now I would love free gifts to. I love art just as much as the next person. I was even lucky enough to get a free Christmas sketch from several people myself this month.

So this is what I would like for Christmas. I'd like everyone to give what they can to those who are in need. If it's no more than your love, friendship, and support for your fellow artists then do so. Leave encouraging comments. Select the Favorites you care for. Donate Subscription or funds to people who don't have them or are in true need. Draw something for someone you think would like a picture. If you can't draw write them a poem or a story.

I hear a lot that people think the holidays have become to commercial. Well we are all partly responsible for that. This season is that of Giving. So give what you can. Believe me when I tell you it's always appreciated. Good will and the spirit of giving don't have to be about Santa, Jesus, Religion, Nationality, or Ethnicity. It's just about us. All of us.

I hope you get to enjoy the holidays with those you love the most; be it family, friends, a special lover, or someone who could just use a hug. Take back what this season is supposed to be about. I know I wish I could be with my family. I miss them with all my heart, but I have to wait until next April. Enjoy yours while it's here.
