Hello,

To let everyone know, I had to take a break from working for the past week or so. I had a very important appointment and it required all of my attention. I will be starting on the paint tomorrow.

I also, in a desire to speed things up, decided to sculpt all the Castle Crashers at the same time. I have now made 13 Castle Crashers characters. They will all be painted and shipped out soon.

I will be posting picutres of the works in progress tonight

Thanks for reading,

TuxedoChad

Hi!

Well, the Artist Alley and Otakon are done for the year I wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who stopped by our table to check out my work. So, here goes, Thanks! Anyway, this Artist Alley is probably the best one I have been to. I met a lot of great people and a lot of really talented artists.

With the exception of a few Otakon Staff who I wish would not have been so rude and condescending to me and my family. Which is not to say all the staff were like that. There were quite a few who were extremely helpful. Barring those instances everyone else made this a fun event.

I got a lot of commissions this year and I'll be starting work on them today. Had to wait for clay. Came home and found that I was out of every last bit of clay that I needed lol I feel stupid...

I will also be posting pictures of all the new figures that were displayed during the Artist Alley. Such as Big Daddy, Ridley vs. Samus, Jack Cayman, and Heartless Riku. Along with those pictures will be a few from the Alley itself. Pictures of the table display and such.

To all those that have ordered from me I will be posting the list as a comment on this Journal entry. I compiled it in the order it was received.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. My Will O' the Wisp was entered in the Figure contest this year. I did not expect him to win anything but when we came back from the Dealers Room I found that he had been awarded a sort of honor. There were no categories for scratch built figures in the contest (so naturally I couldn't really win anything) but they said they were very impressed by my work (made me really happy!) they awarded me Honorable Mention. They will also be adding a category for scratch built figures from now on The judges also awarded me with an Evangelion Model kit, one of the big ones and a really nice Garage Kit and figure Book. It features a lot of Bome work in it.

All in all a great con.

Thanks for reading,

TuxedoChad

Anyway, I know I keep promising to post new pictures but what with the Otakon coming up I probably won't have the time.
Hi,

Well lets get the good news out of the way first. My hand is all healed up and I'm back to work. Yay I will be posting several new sculptures and trinkets within the next few days, Castle Crashers among them. Also, the large piece that will complete the Samus Aran figure is fully sculpted. The large piece took a bit longer than expected, had to remold the head three times. I have now grown to hate that head lol.

I'm also sculpting a Jack figure from Madworld (Awesome game)

Now, to the subject at hand. Otakon. As some of you know, I have attended the Otakon Artist Alley for the past five years. Each and every time has been better than the last. I have made friends and many of you have come by to check out my work. I have never had a problem getting in until now. So far, the Artist Alley of 2009 is shaping up to be a major thorn in my side. I am on the waiting list but so far I have not heard back.

If anyone here would be generous enough to share a table with me please let me know. I would pay for my share of the table, naturally and would add $20 for your kindness. To put it bluntly, I am in desperate need of a table.

Please if you are willing, contact me as soon as possible.

Thanks for reading,

TuxedoChad

Hi,

Well, it has been an interesting week for me. By interesting I mean painful and little work done lol You see, Saturday of last week, I went to volunteer with my dad at a state park. The volunteer work was hosted by his company and, at least as it had been told to him and his coworkers, we were all volunteering to help spruce up the park. There were no other details given...that should have been our first warning sign

When they said spruce up, we all thought that meant we were going to clean up some trails and so on. You know, pick up litter, brush leaves from trails, all that sort of stuff. Boy were we wrong. My father and I, along with two other volunteers ended up hauling two hundred and three hundred pound logs at least half a mile down a trail. By down a trail I mean to say through sinking rocks that would, if you weren't careful, let your leg slip between them and plunge you up to your knee in rocks and mud. Fun! Also up steep hills littered with holes and down steep hills that had rocks waiting at the bottom....long story short it was just so much fun! (please note that was said with sarcasm) lol

Towards the end of our volunteer shift, when everyone was exhausted and ready to fall over, it was decided by one of the rangers to move a rather large boulder. It took five men, including myself, to lift it, struggling and grunting the whole way. We only managed to get it about half a foot off the ground. That should give you some idea of the weight. During the move, one person let the boulder slip and, just like dominoes, everyone else let it go. Just one problem, they all let it drop onto my hand, smashing it between itself and, conveniently, another rock. Best part of it all, nobody noticed until I called for help.

In the end that little accident fractured three of the fingers on my left hand. Not just the fingers though, that also included the knuckles.

So, that is the reason why I haven't been updating so much. I haven't been able to sculpt or paint. To sum up, it was an awesome volunteer day. lol

I'm getting back to work now, in a way. Somebody just lent me a table mounted brace. It can hold the figures in place for me. I'll be finishing up the chess board this week and the new Samus and Ichigo figures. I'll also be making Stark from Bleach. The primera espada with his awesome release.

Thanks for reading,

TuxedoChad

Hello,

Since I first started sculpting I've had one idea that has always been in the back of my head. I'm very pleased to say that I have at last taken that idea and put it into clay. I'm making my own chess set. You see, I love playing chess, can't play worth a darn but I do love playing. Also, I love it when things can serve two functions, like trading card game cards. You can collect them and also play a game with them. Two for one basically.

I always wanted my figures to be able to function in a game that everyone knew. Later today I'll be posting a picture of what I have so far.

For those wondering I'm making a Super Mario Chess Set. For the Black side, Bowser as the king, Goombas as pawns. For the White, Mario and Peach as King and Queen. I've only made the black side so far and I still need to finish up three pieces. I'll save the rest as a surprise. Please keep in mind though that these characters are not in proportion to each other. I wanted them to function as pieces as well as individual art. Also, as this is only a test run I am making them what I call a miniature chess set. The pieces are slightly smaller than your average set.

Anyway I am really enjoying sculpting them and if any of you have ideas as to what should be used for the queen let me know. I need the help, kind of run out of ideas for that one lol.

And if anyone has an idea for a future chess set let me know, I'm currently playing around with the possibility of a Metroid chess set and a Kingdom Hearts chess set.

Thanks for reading,

TuxedoChad

Hello all,

This is my first Journal entry. It will pretty much just be the random ramblings of a sculptor.

Now, let the drum roll begin.

So, to get straight to it, I haven't been on deviant art in quite some time. Sorry to all who have commented and posted about my art--I'm very sorry I haven't replied. I greatly appreciate all your kind words and I am so pleased that you take the time to look at my art.

As the title of this post suggests I will be changing a few things from here on out:
I will be updating this profile as often as possible and replying to everyone who has left comments. New figures, new sculptures and more wedding cake toppers.
There will be custom Miis, childrens birthday cake toppers, figures from anime and video games.
Even some Castle Crashers figures. (I love that game!) Oh, and even a figure of The Dishwasher, from the Xbox Arcade Game: The Dishwasher Dead Samurai. (Awsome game!)

That's it for now and thanks for reading,

TuxedoChad
