Unfortunately, I'm still pretty dead art-wise and work has been keeping me busy. I did get The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the DS recently though. Awesome game.

I usually can't stand "gimmicky" game controls but Nintendo did a great job with the touchscreen. It's really fun.

[Update] So, Newegg wouldn't replace it, but Foxconn says they'll examine it and if they find it to be defective, they'll replace it...which means I'll be without a computer until they decide one way or another. I hope it doesn't take very long, but if it ends this nuisance I'll deal with it. [/update]

That or they hate me. There must be some stupid dynamic going on between us. My computer had this nice graphics card--not too powerful, but it was reliable and it worked okay--which had the gall to die on me. "But gee," I thought, "aren't I lucky! I have another one in my closet!" (I'd bought it a while back for another reason.) But nooooo. This one likes to randomly crash my computer! And with the other one dead, I'm stuck with this piece of crap until I can afford one that doesn't suck. Gah.

If you're wondering, there's some bad solder or something in this card that causes it to badly overheat to the point of crashing the computer. There are four fans inside the tower and everything else is always perfectly cool so there's absolutely no reason for it to overheat except poor craftsmanship. I wish I knew more about hardware so I could try and do something about it myself.

Okay, I got Guild Wars Platinum Edition (Prophecies and Eye of the North). It took several tries but I think I finally got a profession combination I like, Ranger/Warrior. It's so nonsensical (ranged class and melee class

) but it works! If you want to contact me in-game my character's name is Keil Hadan--just be sure to let me know who you are first.

The one thing that surprised me about the game is that the user interface is such a shock. I mean, the game is three years old, but I wasn't expecting something so low-tech, at least compared to World of Warcraft. I guess the fact that the game is supposed to have so much emphasis on groups and guilds that I had this notion that it would be even more advanced in cooperative play than WoW, but it's really bad in that regard.

Yeah, I got Brawl.

I've never been fond of the Wii's controls in other games, but I guess they really worked on it this time, because even the Wiimote doesn't give me much trouble. Of course, I had to get it anyway...Melee is one of the best multiplayer games ever. I'm glad Brawl has basically the same feel as Melee while still working in its own new quirks, like the ever-changing levels. The Subspace Emissary (adventure mode) was also really well-done compared to Melee's solo modes. I'm horribly stuck in The Great Maze but it's been really fun to play through. Now if only I could unlock Jigglypuff...

Oh yeah, and I saw 10,000 BC today. Not a bad movie.

Kinda contrived, and I think the "magic" they added was unnecessary, but overall okay. Some nice action scenes in it.

I just got myself an Amazon Kindle! It is...amazing. I bought and downloaded His Majesty's Dragon to it and I spent this afternoon reading the first three chapters on the Kindle. It really does read like paper instead of a computer screen. It's a fantastic piece of technology--it comes with a built-in dictionary so I can instantly look up words I don't know. It's making me all giggly.

Oh, and I'm adding a new section to my journal footer, Featured Favorites, which will be a few selections from my favorites that I'll change out every so often.

Been a long time, hasn't it? Over a month has passed since my last journal, and around five months since my last main-gallery deviation submission. I really need to work on fixing that...

On Life

So, since my job at JCPenny was only through the week of Christmas, I've been back to the realm of the unemployed for a few weeks now. Haven't been doing much in the way of being productive, either... Hooray, laziness. At least I still have plenty of money saved up (for the moment) from there. With luck someone will hire me soon. In the meantime, I've been considering going back to school... The classes I took in college were, for the most part, useless. Lots of English and Literature, plus the basic required classes. I don't feel like I gained any useful skills there.

I may end up trying to get some scholarships and apply at WSU this time, and major in Business or Computer Programming. Something useful, at least. But we'll see.

On Art

I think this section can be summarized quickly and accurately in one sentence: My art sucks. Before you jump down my throat or try to tell me it doesn't, let me explain. For me, artistic skill is the ratio between how good the drawing appears in my head and how accurate to that image it is when finished. Four years ago, I had a terrible time visualizing anything in my head. I thought my art was great because it was better than what I could imagine. After I joined dA and was exposed to so much art for the first time, I began to draw in earnest, and to improve myself to the level of the artists I was finding here. In the process my ability to visualize what I wanted to draw improved, bit by bit, and today I can almost see a completed work in my head without considerable strain.

But what does that mean? The ratio has become unbalanced. I see great drawings in my head and my hands produce juvenile mimicries of them. I can't consider my art good anymore because it falls so short of what I can imagine. That's become very discouraging to me, and it's one of the major reasons I haven't drawn anything besides a few sketches in my Scraps in the past several months. It's hard to spend the considerable hours it takes me to draw, line, and color something to completion when I know from the sketching phase that it will fall so short of what I imagined it to be. It's not that I don't want to draw, it's just that it's...lost its charm. Sometimes I'd rather go back to that fledgling artist back in October 2005 who had first joined the site and was producing art like mad...but then, I know that the cycle would repeat.

...That sounded really depressing.

And by the way, none of this applies to my stories. That's just pure laziness there.

On World of Warcraft

As most of you should know from my past journals, I've been playing World of Warcraft for about six months now. I've recently gotten a second character up to the maximum level, 70, and I also have a level 63 character and two level 50s along with a gaggle of characters in their teens that I never play. This means that I've been through a good portion of the game at least twice, often many times. I'm the kind of person who doesn't do repeating games well. So why do I keep playing? Is it because I'm addicted? Maybe, but not to the game itself. One of the major things that keeps me there is the player interaction. Consider that I have no friends living closer than halfway across the US, then wonder where all of my social interaction comes from. It comes from the internet. In the past this manifested itself in forums and chatrooms, and those are well and good, but one of the major problems I've encountered with them is activity downtimes--when there's very little or no conversation, or nothing interesting being talked about. UPDATE: The problem is not running a dual-monitor. I disconnected the other monitor and set it back to a normal one-monitor system, but I've crashed four times this morning anyway. The new graphics card might be defective. I'm probably going to switch the old one back in and see if I can get this one replaced. /UPDATE

I've been running the dual-monitor now for about a week. Quite fun...I've been able to do a whole lot more than I ever could with just one screen. I absolutely love it.

...Except that it crashes. And crashes. And crashes. My computer simply cannot handle it. I spend $110 upgrading the graphics card and $220 on a new monitor--about $350 total counting the VGA-to-DVI adapter--all wasted. The setup is pointless. It will not properly run. I'm going to have to take the second monitor offline until I can spend another $300 or so on a graphics card that can actually handle it. I'm not a very happy serpent right now.

I just haven't been around much lately.

My job at JCPenny is a bit tedious. After we open and sort the contents of the boxes off the trucks in the mornings, we either put them out onto the main floor or back-stock them...and then it's basically a free-for-all.

Playing the Find-Something-To-Do-For-The-Next-Five-Hours game is really annoying. Mostly I do some cleaning and organizing of the stockroom or clean up and fold clothes on the floor. I got my first paycheck yesterday though, and what a pick-me-up that is.

Speaking of my paycheck, I could use some help from someone familiar with dual-monitor computer systems. I'm going to buy a second monitor for my PC but I'm not sure if I need to know or do anything to prepare. I made a forum thread about it here which goes into more detail.

EDIT: Jala passed away during the night. But he had such a will to live! May his spirit find a new body to match his strength.

I think my six-year-old goldfish, Jala, is dying. This afternoon I noticed him floating on his side, but when I checked he was still breathing. I've been monitoring his condition, and he's still breathing and still aware--he moves his eyes and mouth. He seems to be paralyzed.

He may be a ten-cent goldfish from Wal-Mart, but it seems like he's always been around. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do for him, though.

Tomorrow I leave the ranks of the unemployed! I had a job interview at Petsmart on Thursday and they apparently liked me.

I'm going in tomorrow to fill out the paperwork and take the drug test (not like I'll fail that!) and then I'll be working the registers and stocking and stuff. Basic entry-level retail job. Normally I'd say "Don't expect to see me around as much" but I haven't really been around anyway lately...

I haven't started writing Inner Demons 2.0 yet. I've been doing a lot of thinking about it, and I'm really not very happy with the plot. I like to read epic fantasy, and in my struggle to avoid a huge amount of cliche-ing the story just doesn't seem interesting enough. No wonder cliches sell.

Oh, and with my soon-to-be-upcoming paychecks I plan to buy FL Studio, so I can finally start working on making all that music floating around in my head.

I tried using the piano alone, and it just doesn't work for me. I need the structure a program can provide.

So, with part seven of Inner Demons completed, it's time I move on to the next phase of the story's development. I've been putting a lot of thought into rewriting the introduction and reworking the story as a whole. I have some big changes planned, but before I start working I want the opinions and suggestions of my readers.

If you don't want spoilers for the story, don't read on, but hey...then you won't get to add your input on these elements before I start rewriting.

You can advise me on things other than these, though, if you feel that some part of the currently-written story needs work.

The Ghostbeast Circle

The first big thing I want to add in is a sort of guild for werebeasts. No, werebeasts are not "secret" in this story, although they are hidden. People know about them--they just don't know who they are. Hence the name "Ghostbeasts". The Ghostbeast Circle is a group that has reign over and polices the werebeasts of the world, keeping the bloodthirsty ones out and the tame ones hidden--and safe.

The Circle will be divided into four parts, each having sovereignty over certain types of werebeasts. The Ghostpaws deal with most mammalian werebeasts, and will probably be the only section that appears in Inner Demons. The Ghosthooves then have authority over hooved werebeasts (werehorses, weredeer), the Ghostfins over marine werebeasts, and Ghostalons over werereptiles and werebirds.

Frederick will have some connection to the Ghostpaws, although the nature of this connection is still in the air.

Werebeast Hunters

Yes, a true antagonist! Although the villains themselves aren't a part of this group, I want to add an arm of the Church that play an active role in Evon's development. Now, they won't be an actual part of the Church, just hired mercenaries who act on the Church's behalf. That won't make them any less efficient, though.

A name for this group hasn't yet been decided on, so suggestions for that would be awesome.

The Church

In addition to (and aside from) the Werebeast Hunters, I want to phase the Church's role out of the story. I never really wanted to include it, but did so anyway because it felt appropriate. One of the major problems I have with it is that it feels too much like a Christian church, which it's not supposed to be. I won't completely remove it, of course, but I want to alter it a lot, which may include a variety of things I haven't decided entirely upon yet. There won't be a cross anymore, though--although Evon's silver cross really won't have any role once the story is rewritten, anyway. I'll probably change it to a phoenix wing or something of the sort.

New Characters

Yep, I have a bunch of new characters planned, and new roles for some existing characters. I've decided that I need a good female character to go along with Evon and Frederick, which will probably end up being Rebecca unless I have a better idea. (The girl Evon saw in the forest has another role to play...and of course we know now that Frederick's female werewolf friend is out of the question.

I'm also planning to expand the role of the wolf mind. It pops up occasionally, but for being a presence in his mind it's rarely active. I want to make it into a full-fledged character that can actually communicate and act, to a degree.

Also, if you feel a bit werebeast-starved so far in the story, expect that to change too.

I got the results of the CT scan and blood work the hospital did, and apparently they found absolutely nothing. Meaning, they have no idea what's causing the pain, and therefore have no way to treat it.

On Comments:

Yeah, I haven't been doing very good at commenting on deviations lately. I have 36 stacked up in my message center at the moment, which for me is a lot--especially considering how long some have been in there. But I intend to comment eventually, so expect some!

On Artwork:

Meh. I've been trying to finish part seven of Inner Demons, but I only manage a few sentences at a time before I lose interest. Looking back at it and what I have planned for the rest of the story, I realized that there's no real purpose to it...no driving force, no expected climax. The reader isn't really led to expect anything, which in turn means the story is just running and not really going anywhere. Once part seven is finished, I plan to go back through the first six parts and rewrite them from the ground up--and, hopefully, integrate some deeper plot beneath the obvious story. I just don't want it to become something generic. I'm open to suggestions.

On Games:

World of Warcraft is awesome...until level 40. Now I'm stuck with quests I can't do, and I'm not even able to get my level 40 mount because it costs 90 gold and that's practically impossible for a casual gamer like me to get.

However, WolfTeam has started up again after several months of downtime. It's an MMOFPS where you can switch between normal shooter mode and werewolf mode.

The game is in beta still, and it's only open for a week or so, but note me with your email and I'll send you an invite if you're interested.

On Music:

Why must the composers of the Harry Potter movie music consistently disappoint me?!

_{Okay, it's only been twice so far, and I ended up really liking some of the Goblet of Fire music, but that's beside the point.} Nicholas Hooper's score for Order of the Phoenix was...unmemorable at best, invisible at worst. Only one song on the entire CD really caught my attention, and it was the first. No wonder it was put first.

Oh yeah, I have an upcoming CT scan to see if there's anything hiding in my abdomen. Maybe it's odd, but I'm rather hoping that something is there...so that they can get rid of it. It's worse knowing something is wrong but having no idea what it is. (I've had some bad abdominal pains over the past few months, but not often enough to concern me enough to get it checked out until now.)

You may be wondering where I went lately. Most likely you weren't, but play along. I downloaded the trial of World of Warcraft and have been playing it like mad.

Level 17 Tauren Hunter. I'll probably buy the full game soon. And no, don't expect me to disappear for good into the realm of WoW and never be heard from again. I have more self-control than that.

Transformers: Awesome movie. Terrible plot, of course--reminiscent of the actual cartoons, which is good. I'm not very fond of the robot designs, not because they're different from the originals (I was never a fan) but because it was hard to tell them apart. I kept confusing them.

Order of the Phoenix: Absolutely amazing. :] I was a bit worried after the EPIC FAIL that was Goblet of Fire, but this director really pulled through and made a good movie. I was very impressed with the acting, especially Umbridge.

EDIT: *dragon-architect reminded me that I was going to put one of these tickers in here for my birthday. August 5th if you were wondering.

It's too hot! It spiked to around 107 degrees yesterday!

Luckily though, after some rearrangement of furniture, my air vent is now in the open and my room is somewhat cooler than it has been. Still warm enough to make my hands constantly sweat though. I need better air conditioning.

Because of that, though, I haven't really drawn anything lately. I need to find a better place to work than my bedroom; sweaty hands do not make for good pencil drawings.

However I seem to have fallen into an artistic mood anyway and have been working on finishing older drawings, like the one I did for *felineflames recently. I'm finishing the drawing of Anthro Rivin in my scraps right now, so you can finally see what he looks like. :] Work on Inner Demons, on the other hand, has slowed down greatly, so those of you waiting for part seven will have to wait a bit longer.

For those of you behind on dA news, ^skifi and ^cooley have become the Gallery Directors of Anthro, and they're doing an amazing job of getting the gallery back into order. Go give them some love!

The final issue and Ultimate Edition of Dragons of deviantART has been released. I had been hoping for more suggestions, you know. It fell short of my hoped-for size.

If y'all remember back that far, I posted a journal saying that I wanted to get myself an electric piano keyboard so that I could relearn piano and then start composing my own music. Well, my graduation gift money finally made that possible.

I ended up getting this one instead of the one I originally wanted, but this one should be even better. Hopefully it won't take too long to ship.

Art-wise, I've been rather unproductive. I don't work well in heat, and my room has been blazing hot lately. It's hard to draw with sweating hands. I'm trying to digitally finish something that I scanned a while back, though.

Dragon Artists of deviantART | Have a question about deviantART?}

Yep, I'm now officially out of school...forever! Unless I should decide to return in later years, of course. But anyway. I now have an Associate of Arts degree. Finally, all the stress and nervousness is over. More importantly, I have a new office chair! No more sitting for hours every day in a cold, hard metal folding chair (which is what I've used for the past four years, yay).

So, what does this mean? Well, nothing really at the present, except that I'll have a lot more free time until I get a job. Art-wise, I don't know what will happen. I actually did most of my drawing at school, writing too, so I'll have to force myself to do some of that at home now to prevent it from stagnating again.

Yeah...need sleep!

Hm, so. I've been forcing myself out of my artistic dead zone, so expect to see some new art soon. Hopefully I can motivate myself to finish it quickly.

I've also been rather busy in school, since the quarter ends in a few weeks and then I graduate. :]

And I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End this week. Awesome movie. I adore the idea behind the maelstrom battle...I might have to incorporate something similar into one of my stories... Anyway, regardless of what reviews say, I highly recommend it. Very funny movie.

Argh! So you wants to know, you wants to know, where are my arts?! Or better yet, where are my artsicleses?!

I've run into a bit of a snag in the "Dragons of deviantART" article...namely my own absent-mindedness.

I never remember to collect features until Thursday or Friday, the day I usually submit it, and trying to collect thirty deviations from across the week in a few hours just doesn't work as well as it sounds like it should. Plus, the Way Back feature that I always use to collect them (Search is terrible, it really is) has been broken. I'm not really sure what's going to happen with the articles right now. I was, a couple of weeks ago, planning to do the ninth normally and then issue the tenth as a special, final edition, and call the series to a close. I still want to keep doing the articles, of course (I at least want to finish the tenth, anyway), but it's becoming stressful and I for one don't like stress.

So, what to do? For now, I'm probably putting it on hiatus, although the ninth might randomly appear one Friday.

Artistically, I've hit another kind of block: I hate inking. I really do. I sit down and try to lineart a drawing and it's pretty much four hours of torturous bodily contortions around my tablet trying to draw a line that doesn't jump all over the place. And no, that's not my tablet's fault, it's mine. I have very unsteady hands. That's why you've only seen sketches and stories recently. Stories, at least, I can do quickly and easily.

To those of you whom I owe art, I haven't forgotten you (especially you, *felineflames), but I need to do some hard rethinking of how I draw.

Congratulations to those of you who got down this far.

I don't have much else to say this time around.

I haven't been doing too well at working on the art I owe...I'm having issues with lining them. It's such a chore now; I have to hover over Ctrl Z all the time because I'm so unsteady. Plus it takes far longer than it should. But anyway... I'm working on a story right now, a novella really, while I take a break from working on Dreamscapes. I might submit the first bits of it soon, if I feel like it.

So, I had this cool dream last night, in which I saw what deviantART really looks like.

Or, at least, what it could look like.

I saw a huge, grassy estate, surrounded on all sides by a huge concrete wall, square in shape. One section of the wall was covered with pictures of deviants, running all the way down one side and along the back, each picture growing progressively smaller until they reached $chix0r's room (the staff and substaff had rooms, which were open to the outside on one wall), which was covered with pictures of the staff. Her room was built into the side of a big mansion or palace, I'm not sure which, in the back center of the estate. I didn't see it very clearly.

The walls came around and met in the center of the front wall, which branched out into two to surround two massive gates. The gates were made of stone and pulled into two pieces, which retracted into the walls when opened. There was a courtyard of sorts between the gates, with a round fountain in the middle. Surrounding the fountain was a whirlpool which took up the entire courtyard, except for a foot or two of dry ground around the fountain.

I remember the gate and its whirlpool most clearly of any of it... I was there when the gates opened, along with two Senior Members whose names I can't recall. The whirlpool died down and disappeared, leaving everything dry, and then the gates slowly pulled apart, admitting four unknown people (a nucleic family--father, mother, son, daughter). I followed them for a bit and discovered that they were meeting up with $chix0r, although she was asleep at the time.

After the family disappeared behind a big hedge sculpture, I went back to my room. The Helpers had rooms too, apparently, but it was tiny and not very well-lit. There were two or three beds so I assume that multiple Helpers had to stay together.

$chix0r was the interesting one in all of this, though. In the dream, she was apparently the only staff besides Helpers (no other staff appeared). Also, she was constantly wandering around the estate--although she was "sleeping" when the family arrived, she was in fact wandering around. Sleepwalker!

Also, she was wielding a scythe and an excited chicken.

I just got Unreal Anthology in the mail today, adding four new games to my PC's arsenal.

So that might be distracting me for a while. Unreal Tournament 2004 is pretty cool. I was playing Unreal a bit today, but it gets very annoying...

I've been feeling rather artistically confused lately. I don't like my style, but I'm not sure that I can move on to another style and keep the same level of detail and precision that I have now. That's why I haven't submitted anything finished in a while now.

This is especially difficult because I want to finish *felineflames' commission without requiring three months to do it.

Because I'm sure you're all tired of my one-paragraph journals by now.

This week's issue of "Dragons of deviantART" has been canceled, due to the fact that I haven't collected enough features to get it ready by tomorrow. Next week will have a bigger issue to compensate.

People are stupid.

Especially around cars. Earlier this week, I was driving behind some woman down the highway, and I swear she must've been driving like in those TV shows, where they just randomly turn the steering wheel back and forth. She was all over the road. I was afraid to pass her because I thought she might swerve into the right lane while I did...and I was right. Luckily, I hadn't yet tried to pass her, but just as I got close, she veered into the right lane. Then, a couple of days ago, I was walking into the main building at school and a car drives up in the parking lot. Not a big deal...until a guy tries to get out of the car before it stopped. He stepped out and the back tire ran over his foot. Some people...

Uh...there was supposed to be a third topic, but I forgot what it was.

EDIT: I remembered the third topic!

I recently took a Mary Sue test for one of my characters, Verius. He scored a 90: "Kill it dead."

Of course, I kind of skewed it in favor of that answer by going by him at the end of his life, not when he first appears in the story. Rather interesting quiz nonetheless.

Well, I've gone and done it again. I've hit another art block. I keep trying to work on my ref sheets, and I honestly don't see the point anymore. Why spend three months working on a ref sheet that has very little value? I know what my characters look like, and I do trades or get giftart so rarely that it's hardly worth bothering with. I'd rather just work on actual drawings, but I have so little motivation. I might end up falling into another art slump for a while. Too bad people don't commission me--those, at least, I would be motivated to work on.

I've been busy!...no, not really, just unmotivated. I went back to writing in Dreamscapes instead of drawing for a bit, but I have Anthro Rivin's ref sheet sketched out already, I just need to start inking it. That might be this weekend or next, depending on if I finish Casanova's kiriban.

I also want to note that I'm trying to comment on deviations more than I have been. If I didn't have something to say about it before, I simply wouldn't comment, but if you see me just say "It looks good", you'll know why.

Well, not much else to say. I've been working on *CasanovaUnlimited's kiriban and Anthro Rivin's ref sheet on and off this past week. These new ref sheets are going to take much longer than the old ones to make, it seems. Although, school interfering doesn't help.

I have a four-day weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to get some art at least inked by Monday. I finished both exams and the project that were due yesterday, so that's a big load off my shoulders. I also registered for classes next quarter: Psychology 101 and Intro to Linguistics. Psychology is my last required class for graduation. :] Linguistics is the study of language, and I'm interested in creating my own languages, so that class sounds very interesting.

I'm planning to start a weekly news article featuring dragon art. I have the article itself ready to be submitted on Friday, but I need art to feature! I'll be looking for some myself, of course, but if you think I should include any in the first article, go ahead and let me know. There's only one rule: it has to have been submitted between last Friday and this coming Thursday.

I haven't updated much lately. School's been very hard on me this past week. I just finished writing two essays today, both of which are due tomorrow, and I had a project and a slew of math homework due yesterday, plus I had to deal with class registration for next quarter.

Two exams coming up and another project due on Thursday, too. Hopefully it slows down a bit after this week ends.

Oh, I figured out how to get rid of that annoying mood box (finally!), so if you're a subscriber you just have to add .journalbox .list { display:none; } to your CSS (or replace that section if you already have it).

...what's really annoying to realize at eight in the morning? All of my characters' ref sheets are outdated! Tai's just needs some tweaking, and Rivin's information is inaccurate and his tail design needs to be fixed, but Keiriko's and Verius's are so far past saving that they're...unsaveable. So, yet another project to add to my ever-growing list of things to do: new ref sheets!

My Prints | Design-A-Nightmare Challenge

Sorry for the lack of art lately. I've been in what I call an artistic "dead zone". Even during my art slumps I still sketched, but...there's been absolutely no drawing done lately. But I'm going to try to force myself to draw something by doing the contest and kiriban prizes that've been sitting in my to-do list for a while now. ~Aelanessa, you still haven't told me what you want for your contest prize (up to three characters with a background). =zilowar, you still haven't told me what you want for your kiriban prize (one character, simple background). I'll try to get the ones I do know done...if I can. School's been interfering a lot lately.

Other news! I'm finally getting rid of my laptop. My stepmom has agreed to buy it from me for $500, once I get it working right again, and then that all goes to my dad to pay him off for buying me my new PC. So it's almost like trading the laptop in for the desktop.

Also, I was asked to be a Helper in dA's official #help chatroom, which was pretty cool. If you ever have a question or problem with this site, feel free to stop by there. Idle chat isn't allowed, though, so if you wanna chat you should come to #Love4artfun.

Hrm. Somehow my 16,000th pageview flew past me without me really noticing. I noticed an interesting thing last night: how my perspective of pageviews has changed. I used to think that anyone with over 10,000 must be popular...but I've passed that mark and I'm still not popular.

I've passed up some people I never thought I would, too...namely =Reidyn and =Foxchibi...and I don't see how, since they're so much better than me. x3

My Prints | Design-A-Nightmare Challenge

Just wanted to let y'all know that I've submitted three of my deviations as prints. Mostly for my own benefit--I ordered the mousepad of Seabeast Rivin.

If I've done art for you, and it's big enough to be submitted as a print (i.e. Snarl, Our Playground, No Heater Required, and Hellborn), if you want to buy a print of it I can submit those, too. I can't do so without your permission, it being your characters (or lineart, in the case of Snarl) and all that.

Yesterday (Sunday), around noon, my strept throat broke. It was literally there one minute and gone the next. I had some residual soreness and I was still congested, but the pain was gone. It's almost completely cleared up today. It's weird... But I really thank you all for your concern. Maybe that's what did it.

I'd give this journal a point, but I seem to have run out of things to say.

Palpatine quotes!

Another year ends, and inevitably a new one begins. It's that time again: time for making resolutions. I refused to make any last year because I never manage to keep them, but this time I have one I know I can keep--and I think most of you will appreciate it too.

I'm going to spend more time this year focusing on drawing my many neglected dragon characters. I think you've seen enough of Rivin to last you a lifetime at the moment--which isn't to say that I won't still draw him, of course. But I digress. For being part of the Big List of Dragon Artists, my dragon output was miserably low. Let's see if I can change that, shall we?

What else can you expect in 2007?
- More short stories! I know they don't get a lot of attention here on dA, but I will say that my writing talent far exceeds my drawing skills, and really writing is the only thing I'll openly admit to being good at.
- New journal CSS! I don't like my current one much...I planned to have it changed by now, but no such luck. This one doesn't work on a resolution higher than 1024x768, and since my new monitor is rather stuck at 1280x1024, it looks stupid.
- Completion of what's currently on my to-do list! Some of it's been sitting there a long time, and I apologize to everyone who's been waiting since the summer or so to have theirs finished. x_X
- ...There was going to be something else here, but I forgot it. ;D

My artistic output is a bit slow as of late. This stupid break from school is really wearing me down...it's really only at school that I draw. I can't motivate myself to do it at home.

On top of that, thanks to the fact that my new PC has an nVidia 7300 graphics card, I can finally play good PC games. I recently rediscovered Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, an awesome game that's been sitting in my closet for at least a year because neither my laptop or my dad's desktop could handle it. It's been eating up a lot of my attention. Plus, I bought The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion yesterday and I've been playing it constantly the past two days. Very nice game. The graphics are beautiful.

As for Second Life, I've pretty much given up on it--unless you're good at using their 3D modeling system (I'm not), there's really nothing to do in it. It's a glorified chatroom.

Expect more artwork starting next week, though, since I'll be back in school and have some motivation back.

I got some neat stuff for Christmas. A pair of hand-made slippers, a book on Dragonology (which is laughably inaccurate, but interesting), a big bag of M&M's, and a gift card to Barnes & Noble which I'll probably use to get the newest Artemis Fowl book. I also bought myself a new sketchbook and a nice notebook which I plan to write my novel, Dreamscapes in (at least until it runs out, it only has a hundred pages).

But most importantly, I want to thank everyone who did art for me!

=zilowar drew me this wonderful drawing, which I love.

*INSTINCT-IVE made me this awesome little hanging thing. It's so cute!

And I know it's not actually a Christmas gift, but it was submitted on Christmas and it's so cool! *ChocoboDreamer drew it.

And I reached 15,000 pageviews!

Thank you to everyone for taking a look at my page! I was originally going to do a kiriban at that number, but I don't really want to add another one to my list of things to do.

I spilled milk on my sketchbook. >_< Luckily it was open, so the only drawing that got damaged was *hunterbahamut's from the already-finished Christmas project. The pages beneath it were damaged, though...not sure how deeply. The pages are starting to curl up. Maybe this is the excuse I was looking for to buy a new sketchbook, since I've really disliked this one since I got it.
