I've been dithering about doing another contest for weeks now and have finally decided upon a theme. I have such a passion for mazes and labyrinths that I have decided that this will be the theme of the contest. It's a bit unusual but I thought it would also be a fun challenge. The contest is called The Labyrinth but you can call your submissions what you like.

Rules...

Basically, you must feature a maze or labyrinth in your work in some shape or form, be it a hedge maze, brick maze, 3D maze etc. You can include other things as well, of course, but the labyrinth/maze must be the main feature.

Any sort of medium is acceptable - photography (shots of real labyrinths and mazes), photo-manipulation (any sort of theme - fantasy, surreal, horror etc), traditional, digital art, 3D, pixel art, sculpture and crafts, jewellery, even poetry or prose. I will allow fanART for the Jim Henson movie Labyrinth but NOT fanfiction, sorry, but it must feature the actual labyrinth as well as Jareth/Sarah etc. If there is another medium you would like to submit just note me about it.

10 Random Things About Me -

1)I want to become a published writer more than anything. It has been a burning desire since childhood. I have finished one novel and although it was terrible, it proved to me that I can write a whole novel. A re-write of that particular story has been put on the backburner for the time being, and I am working on another, which I am very excited about.

2)I am obsessed with wistful looking long haired redheads. Think the Pre-Raphaelites.

3)I would love to live in a country cottage one day with a beautiful garden...and lots of cats!

4)My husband was my first boyfriend.

5)At this particular moment in time I am obsessed with - old keys, old pocket watches, old sand timers and playing around with mirrors.

6)I am totally in lust with the actor Richard Armitage right now! Mmmmm!

7)I think Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are both adorable. They make me laugh!

8)I wish I had my own hedgemaze and if I ever won the lottery I would create/grow a huge one and open it to the public!

9)Simple things make me happy: watching the birds, listening to a waterfall, watching movies, being silly, going on picnics...

10)We don't own a TV and haven't for years. Watching TV wastes valuable creativity time. I'd rather read, write or sculpt.

I've been dithering about doing another contest for weeks now and have finally decided upon a theme. I have such a passion for mazes and labyrinths that I have decided that this will be the theme of the contest. It's a bit unusual but I thought it would also be a fun challenge. The contest is called The Labyrinth but you can call your submissions what you like.

Rules...

Basically, you must feature a maze or labyrinth in your work in some shape or form, be it a hedge maze, brick maze, 3D maze etc. You can include other things as well, of course, but the labyrinth/maze must be the main feature.

Any sort of medium is acceptable - photography (shots of real labyrinths and mazes), photo-manipulation (any sort of theme - fantasy, surreal, horror etc), traditional, digital art, 3D, pixel art, sculpture and crafts, jewellery, even poetry or prose. I will allow fanART for the Jim Henson movie Labyrinth but NOT fanfiction, sorry, but it must feature the actual labyrinth as well as Jareth/Sarah etc. If there is another medium you would like to submit just note me about it.

Prizes...

There will be first, second and third prizes. First prize will be a year's DA subscription, and second and third prizes will be a month's DA subscription. I will be the only judge. I like to keep things simple.

Feature...

I have always been fascinated by the world of the surreal. Not scary, disturbing surreal, but a surreal that is just on the safe side of unsettling, (if that makes sense!) I am working on a novel that focuses on surreal in a very subtle sense, snatches of improbability that are so fleeting they could be mere tricks of the light or the projections of a fatigued mind.

These are all pics that I find intriguing in some way, and inspire my writing...

OMG! The past hour has been spent in total *SQUEEEEE* mode and I just had to share! Well, I was pottering around the garden (as you do!

) and I saw the teeniest, tiniest mouse! So young that its eyes were still closed. Then I saw another! Then another! Now one of them disappeared down a hole which I assume was their home, but the other two were wandering around exploring for ages! Because they were so young I don't think they were aware of danger yet so I was able to get soooo close to them! I even picked one up in my gardening gloves (VERY very carefully!) and was able to examine him (or her!) more closely. Then I carefully lowered him back to the ground and he wandered around some more. I was able to take loads of pictures and although a lot came out too blurry I was able to get some decent shots, which I will be uploading asap. So, yeah, what a wonderful afternoon - what an adorable experience. God, they were sooooooooooo cute!!!! I'll tell you, its the simplest things that make me happy; that make me feel happy to be alive.

But enough of my squeeeing!

Entry Rules

For anyone considering submitting a photo-manipulation, there is some maze/labyrinth stock in my ~MirandaRose-Stock account, although I'm sure there is plenty of other maze/labyrinth stock available from other stockists.

Closing Date...

You have loads of time. The contest will last all spring and end on 1st June.

A Final Note...

For those who don't know the difference between a maze and a labyrinth...a maze has many paths, a labyrinth has only one...

Theme...

I've been dithering about doing another contest for weeks now and have finally decided upon a theme. I have such a passion for mazes and labyrinths that I have decided that this will be the theme of the contest. It's a bit unusual but I thought it would also be a fun challenge. The contest is called The Labyrinth but you can call your submissions what you like.

Rules...

Basically, you must feature a maze or labyrinth in your work in some shape or form, be it a hedge maze, brick maze, 3D maze etc. You can include other things as well, of course, but the labyrinth/maze must be the main feature.

Any sort of medium is acceptable - photography (shots of real labyrinths and mazes), photo-manipulation (any sort of theme - fantasy, surreal, horror etc), traditional, digital art, 3D, pixel art, sculpture and crafts, jewellery, even poetry or prose. I will allow fanART for the Jim Henson movie Labyrinth but NOT fanfiction, sorry, but it must feature the actual labyrinth as well as Jareth/Sarah etc. If there is another medium you would like to submit just note me about it.

Prizes...

There will be first, second and third prizes. First prize will be a year's DA subscription, and second and third prizes will be a month's DA subscription. I will be the only judge. I like to keep things simple.

I've noticed this several times on my DA travels and thought I would share -

"If someone by the name of Alfred Hundana (dragon_heart620) wants to add you to their list, don't accept it. It's a virus. Tell everyone on your list because if somebody on your list adds them you will get it, too. It is a hard drive killer and a very horrible virus. Please pass this on to everyone on your list."

journal...damn...I clicked on this over at my stock account!

WARNING
If someone (even a friend) comments on one of your Deviations with a link that says "rofl this may be relevant to your interests", DO NOT CLICK ON IT! It will send you to a webpage that does not load, but somehow uses your account to quite randomly send the same comment link to other Deviations that you never even visited. This of course makes the system think you're spamming and refuses to let you comment further and It can also apparently mess with your computer. Again, DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK!

If you have already clicked it, change your dA password, clear your private data from your browser (temporary internet files, history, etc) and if applicable, run a spyware scan.

Gosh, 2009 already?
It only seemed like yesterday that it was the Millenium!
I've said it before and I'll say it again...time flies!

Well, I've made the usual New Year Resolutions - get fitter, eat healthier, stop biting my nails

, be very creative (especially sculpting, writing and painting), but the main one was to use the internet less. A lot less. So, although I'm not going to disappear completely, I'm not going to be around DA quite as much as usual. Because of this I just wanted to say, thanks, as always, for any comments, faves, and watches, and I will try to get back to you when I can.
