{..listening to all songs starting from track 6 "Dreamscape Lucidity" ..Listening to its music and/ or lyrics while reading this journal entry may add interesting effect(s).}
For those who do not know, the Ultra Fractal image/animation software has many hundreds of parameter and formula files that can be downloaded, including fractal formula files, transformation files, and coloring algorithm files. I usually browse through the coloring files, it causes me to explore and end up with hundreds of new ideas in seconds. One of the coloring files I randomly landed on is under the tna category. It's the one called tna Direct Orbit Traps. (Before I began this journal entry, I forgot that over a year and a half ago I made an entry about it [link] .) Since 2006 or 2007, I've been working with this tna Direct Orbit Traps coloring nonstop.

If I remember correctly the way it began, I opened this coloring formula while exploring the Mandelbrot fractal, as I had on countless other occasions. As I did typically, I started to experiment with variables and sub-parameters of the algorithm (e.g. Color Density, Transfer Function, and a number of sub-parameters specific to the algorithm, such as Trap Coloring and Threshold). The most remarkable thing happened when I changed the sub-parameter Trap Color Merge to HSL Addition. Doing that just so happened to cause the outside coloring of the Mandelbrot I was exploring at the moment to appeal greatly to me. I played around with the Transfer Function and Color Density until I finally left them at Square Root and 360 respectively. The whole fractal then looked like something that would remind me of nebula, prisms, and novas, all at once. It was very spectral-looking, but with a blackish background. The areas I magnified after that all resembled scenes from deep space, so I started to export images. That was over 2 or 3 years ago. During that time, I began what would end up as over 100 images and some animation projects… Since then I've been changing almost nothing but the Color Density, each time producing monumentally amazing effects that would captivate my attention and interest for years at a time.

One morning during class in early 2008, I decided to open Ultra Fractal (which I carry with me on a flash drive). I opened one of my fractals and added the tna Direct Orbit Traps coloring to it, changed the Trap Color Merge to HSL Addition, and this time changed the Color Density to 1.3333333333333333333… (1 and 1/3) and left the Transfer Function as Linear (the default). Doing so just so happened to cause areas of the Mandelbrot that I magnified to have shapes and patterns that remind me of butterflies, fairies, and exotic plantlife and deep sea scenes. Long story short (or actually, long story not as long), I ended up starting many more projects that would eventually lead to hundreds more images and animations, some of which I still have yet to begin.

{I want to update this after I learn how to embed thumbnail links in a journal, and after I get some sleep and remember what else I was going to say.}

Here's a brief list of discoveries I've made and (technically) how I came up with them:
(Color Density: 360 Transfer Function: Sqrt) Deep Space:
[link]
[link]
[link]

(Color Density: 1.3333… Transfer Function: Linear):
Plantlife:
[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]

Fairies & Butterflies:
[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]

Deep Sea
[link]
[link]
(Color Density: 1.21789364324643)
[link]<...

For the past several months, I've been experiencing some chronic fatigue. I'm sure it's a result of working too hard in school for the past several years- all the nonstop homework, working out, playing sports, and pulling all-nighters. Fatigue sucks. It blows. Being so tired has made it hard to keep my grades up, and I was doing wonderfully until one particular group project came up, and I hate working in groups.

In my intro digital video course, my group had to make a video for our final project. The group consisted of a guy who had hardly been seen all semester (won't mention his name), a guy who is skilled (Chris), but doesn't have a great work ethic, and me, extremely tired and busy. This was a huge project, so huge that it put me behind in all my other classes, in which I was also working on final exams & final projects, projects such as a website, a treatment for a reality show, an animatic cartoon, and a video game.

Nearly all of the recording for the video was done by just Chris & me. On the day this video was due, there was still a lot of editing to be done. I was at home working on my animatic, which was already nearly a week late, and the guy from whom we hardly ever heard was nowhere to be found, there was on;y one of us on campus putting the final product together. He was doing nicely by himself, but after he got done, it took hours to render, and even though he was done editing on time, it wasn't on a disc until late in the class and the instructor wouldn't accept it. So now I'm looking at something like a D- for that course.

As a result of taking extra time to work on that video project, I ended up not being able to turn in my animatic or video game, and I missed a final exam, all of which were in the same class, in which I would have had an A+, but instead, I just found out, got a D.

The reality show treatment was also a group project, and my part got done at the last minute. The website was done after the last minute, but I did well with it and got 93 or 95%. But now, I'll probably be losing the opportunity to graduate with honors, and at least one scholarship, but I should be able to apply for more. After all this mes, I'm trying to enjoy my summer as much as possible and get some rest. My gallery & scrapbook should see more additions as well.

I love using the tna Direct Orbit Traps outcolouring method in Ultra Fractal 4. It never ceases to amaze or surprise me! I've already used it to export over 100 images and am in the process of rendering animations from it to. It's the same algorithm that I used for the Intergalactic Nebula [link] and Pandora's Pyxis [link] . Experimenting with a few different color densities and occasionally using multiple identical layers, I have explored the Mandelbrot Set and witnessed gorgeous shapes resembling constellations, nebulae, galaxies, novas, oceans, coral, bubbles, butterflies, angels, prisms, a number of plants, and some things I'd never imagine. I seem to discover a new beauty every Tuesday and Thursday when my morning class ends. (I like to open Ultra Fractal when I should be working on my school projects.) But any way, I suspect my next many Deviations will be fractals using the tna Direct Orbit Traps colouring algorithm.
I've been using it for a little over a year now. It has never failed to work wonders.

It consists of 60 original works composed in Ultra Fractal 3 or 4 and in Xaos. There were two minor touch-ups; The bluey eyes image was colored in Microsoft Picture Manager, and the heartless image has an added red aura via Photo Shop.

Eventually, I hope to have more 60-pic albums with themes/ titles something like:

Trippy Trip

Thunderstar Voyage

Perennial Scope

The Universe

natural-looking objects

maybe more!

some images in these forthcoming albums are sure to overlap.
8:38, 5:38, 1:32, 7:27, 7:57, 8:28, and/ or on March 17, 2007.

What is my point? I hate numerology and astrology/ horoscopes, when they are taken seriously. I can use them for joking around, but to use them as actual guiding tools in life? Nah, I think not. Not 4 me.

But don't get me wrong, some numerology is interesting. There are as many books in the Bible as there are chapters in its book, Isaiah. There are 1188 verses in the Bible, and Psalm chapter 118, verse 8, which is in the precise center of the Bible, reads, "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."

What's my point? Numerology can be interesting, but it's not really important.
I am now a psyverse recologist.
